I bought a few things from the grocery store and the staff was very helpful when I asked questions. This is a boutique organic grocer with the kind of selection you might expect from a Whole Foods, but smaller and more community minded. The real gem is the restaurant on top of the store where we had a wonderful (and very organic) lunch. We had a nice bottle of rose wine which cost us the same as if we bought it from the grocery below - this was very unexpected!

During the pandemic, they were efficient, kind, clean, and reliable. I always felt safe shopping there, and they always had the essential items. Outside of the pandemic, they are still all of those things and more. Best neighborhood grocery store, and they don’t have a connection to Amazon. Win, win.

I enjoy going to Mustard Seed for some of my staples and other items. It’s always clean, very rarely have I seen it crowded, and I’m not sure I’ve ever waited more than 1-2 minutes for a register to open up. Prices are a little higher on some things, but they’re also fair on other things. Support this local business, even if only stopping in for your favorite mix-and-match 6 pack.

I hadn’t been here in years but used to love the place when they had bands (reggae) performing. I definitely had some good times here. I recently went while doing business in Akron and had lunch at the cafe. My party ordered several things and the food was all a bit over the top and not cooked with knowledge of the culinary arts. It was merely just prepared food. I know, I know, how can one tell the difference? Somehow I can always tell when things are prepared with expertise, but don’t take my word for it. The Buffalo cauliflower bites were too large and the cauliflower wasn’t cooked long enough. The sauce could use some work as well, meaning it could be a bit more savory. The pesto ceasar salad was too wet. It was drenched in a dressing and included pesto. I was overwhelmed. The lettuce wilted before I could get into the meal. The flavors didn’t mesh up quite right- pesto and ceasar dressing? 🤔 The Parmesan pomme frites had way too much cheese on them and it seemed to be a cheese sauce as opposed to freshly grated Parmesan which would be nice. They were also over salted and had a ridiculous amount of chives on them. The quinoa burger had cooked chard or spinach or something on it which threw off the whole thing. Cooked greens on a burger is not great. Fresh greens would be better. They didn’t have the wine we ordered, but gave us what they had without actually noting the difference in brands. However, I like Mustard Seed, but the cafe food needs some thought and innovation. I’m writing this because I know they can get it right. Throw some Love in the food. Not calories!

The food was great, however its a very frustrating experience to stand a line that is 8people pluse long with only one person assisting customers behind the register. Common sense would imply that if there is a line of guests out the door that having more than one person behind the register would be smart.

One of my favorite stops in the Highland Square neighborhood. A very modern market and cafe/bar.The market has a large and diverse selection of fresh, quality foods - many organic and locally sourced. The cafe has a multi page menu that offers appetizers, salads, smoothies, contrails, sandwiches, sides and more. The Honey Sriracha Chicken sandwich was crunchy, juicy and well seasoned. The bun was more of a roll, very buttery and toasted. The pickles, honey and sriracha are served on the side, so you can add as much or little as you like. I ordered the sweet potato fries and while they tasted fresh, they were nouveau l noticably undercooked.I ordered the blood orange bourbon lemonade cocktail and found it to be well crafted and very refreshing, especially on a warm and sunny summer afternoon. My food arrived before my drink order, which was less refreshing.Great food, great view, good service. Definitely worth a stop.

I was there Saturday 2/6/21 about noon. This place is expensive and seen products cheaper elsewhere. When we came to register and paid, we didnt have 20 items and was pre maid food and frozen food and maybe olive oil It came to $130 and I was like wow. Cashier laughed at me said hey its a treat. i was thinking of saying forget it or ask for manager in expensive store and cashier to do that. I was on lane 7 with older lady wearing glasses. Store wasnt busy and with those prices I see why. I wonder if store will still be around next year. I know people say shop local but man other stores have same think for cheaper price. I dont want to get a mortgage to shop here and I recently lost my OT and on one income.

Been wanting to try this place out for some time now, finally made it in tonight. Everything was delicious! And it gives you peace of my mind knowing it’s all natural, fresh,Locally sourced ingredients. We had the flash fried buffalo cauliflower as an app, which was generously portioned and had the perfect crunch to them. Also ordered a house salad with the creamy beet dressing - I love beets, so of course I enjoyed it. It was a nice mix of greens that included my favorite, spinach. The stir fry was definitely the highlight of my trip here. Such a delicious blend of flavors, and it was big enough for me to take some home to munch on tomorrow. The matcha green tea latte was the cherry on top. Now we’re about to head downstairs to the market portion to take home some of the low carb ice cream! Will be back!

Ive been going to this grocery store since I moved to Akron a year and a half ago. I tell everyone in the area that I love shopping here - they have high quality products, heavily feature local options, and have a quality staff that always actively addresses any inquiries I have. Today, I had an experience that pushed me into leaving a review, which I almost never do. This store, since its smaller and a little more boutique than your standard grocer, sometimes doesnt have exactly what Im looking for. That happened to be pork butt/shoulder this time, which Ive bought here before. I was googling whether or not I could substitute the center cut roast they did have when someone from their meat department stepped out of the back. He instantly saw that I needed assistance and helped answer my questions. He told me actually had some in the back, and if I had a few minutes, hed cut it to the weight I was looking for. I have worked in hospitality my entire life and the team at this place gets it. Whoever was doing the butchery on 1.28.18 should be commended for going above and beyond. Further, the rest of the team is always kind, engaging when youre checking out, and I regularly get asked if I need assistance or recommendations. A grocer doesnt have to have team members who embody hospitality, but this place does. And thats why Ill always shop here first over the big box places nearby.

Friendly helpful staff. Good selection of all of the kinds of things that you would expect to be able to find here. Friendlier staff here than at the Montrose location. I prefer this spot. Convenient location. Its a newer store so its also a lot nicer inside. One thing. I bought a sugar free apple pie once. Im not a diabetic and no one else in my family is. I just wanted to cut back on sugar. It looked delicious and it was expensive. Took it home. Sliced a piece and noticed how dry it was. It was loaded with apples and had a strong cinnamon aroma. I love cinnamon. That pie was a complete waste of money. The pie was totally dry. No juiciness at all. The apples were literally crunchy. The flavor of cinnamon was too strong. The apples tasted sour and bitter. The crust wasnt even good.An apple pie that doesnt have sugar in it, nor a sugar substitute, should at least be made with sweet juicy apples that are (first) softened/heated in lime juice, squeezed orange juice, a touch of coconut oil, and cinnamon...then added to a pie crust and baked in the oven.

Very slow service food is good. I would think twice about tipping because it’s pretty much all self services they just drop off your food and leave and with that it takes them forever to find your table because it’s numbered and so they take your food all around the restaurant and even outside even if your number is in plain site.

Went with a group of 6 for a company lunch. VERY odd process of ordering - had to order and pay for food at a register, and the receipt asked for the tip amount up front? I hadnt even been served yet I am being asked to tip someone? You order your drink there, too - so you feel REALLY rushed to make a selection because there is a line of people waiting for you to order and move along. So we rush to order the food and drinks, get a number to place on our table, and sit down. 45 minutes later two of the six of us get our food and the waiter starts to take our number away - we tell him we are waiting on 4 other orders. He disappears and we never hear another word from him (we assumed he went in to check on the other four meals, but no!) The waiter never comes back to offer refills, or tell us our food is on the way. After another 10 minutes one from our group goes up and talks to a manager - seems their order computer deleted four items (luckily I had the receipt to show him we paid $120 for two meals). Maybe the waiter could have checked for us 10 minutes ago? Eventually we got our food, and they did offer us a milkshake for waiting, but all-in-all the process in this restaurant needs to go back to the basics of sit down, order and serve. Would never go there again.

I love Mustard Seed and every visit here has been a pleasant one, except for our last one. If I could rate zero stars, I would. If this was our first time here, we would never return. The service was absolutely terrible. I understand it was busy, but maybe have more staff on hand to handle the capacity. We sat at a dirty table for about 20+ minutes before finally moving the dishes ourselves to a chair at our table. When someone came by to clean them (after asking), the woman seemed annoyed we had moved them off of the table. When asked to have the table wiped down, it was done so extremely poorly with a dry cloth. (?!?!) Our food took well over 30 minutes to arrive, and when it finally did, it was the wrong order. We waited longer, to finally receive our food with no silverware. By the time we received silverware, my food was basically cold. My husbands chicken sandwich was 90% all breading, with little to no chicken. At that point in time, why complain and wait longer for them to fix the problem. Extremely disappointed and sadly probably wont be returning for quite some time, if ever.

Why do I feel like the management and security think I was going to steal something. I needed a cart to get my empty water jugs and was followed by management out to my car, like I was going to steal a shopping cart. Then while shopping that same manager followed me around the store. Because of that I didnt buy 3/4 of what I needed. As I was checking out the security guard was watching me. Then followed me outside I assume so I didnt steal the cart?!I told a friend what happened and she said she was followed around by security as well and when she went to check out the cashier was rude and security hovered over her. She will never go back. You can do better Mustard Seed. How insulting to be accused of stealing. As you know you did this to me before when I was an employee. Remember the lie detector test you ask me to take of course I passed and later found out the person doing the accusing was the guilty party. Its a shame I will never shop there again. The prices can be a bit high, especially if youre on a student budget, however, usually the food is well made and I understand why its more expensive (organic, local, etc). The service is generally great, but at times it can be hit or miss depending on the time of day or day itself. A few times time I ordered something, they ended up not having it but didnt tell me, and they just brought out something else without asking what I wanted to have in exchange. Luckily I wasnt opposed to it, but I have some food allergies and it could have been bad. Ive had other annoying service encounters or food not being what I ordered, but it was quickly corrected. Overall, love it mostly because of the cozy atmosphere, plenty of places to sit with friends, and good food.

Family owned. Part of the Highland Square community. Fun spot for food and music. Its your living room but better.

Consistently overly long wait times for food, comes out cold, overcooked or dry the few times Ive been here since opening. Wont be back - for the price, better is expected.

Love the food and atmosphere here, but the only improvement I could suggest is more accuracy in the food orders. Last two times Ive dined in, a small request regarding my food was messed up. Once, no spinach and another was mayo on side. Clearly these are things I can see past, but as a paying customer I would appreciate getting my food how I request it.

Employees very knowledgeable and almost TOO kind. A very unique environment. One of the better market and restaurant combo Ive found for sure. Better than the once upon a time, West Point Market.
