Ive been using SummaCare for 2 years. Ive not had any issues and very satisfied. Ive called with questions and have always been able to speak to someone without waiting a long time. Very friendly and informative.

This is a horrendous website--nothing is readily accessible and I have tried multiple times to find information about a specific medical coverage--but none of that is available. It also is absurd to expect people to change their password every 90 days. If you dont believe their passwords to be secure, then you should improve your own security systems!!!

Unfortunately I have had a very negative experience with the doctors office, billing and customer service departments due to how the doctor I saw coded my visit. I had 2 office visits and some routine lab work done by my PCP but because I discussed weight management and weight loss options with him he coded my visits and lab work under a code that apparently is not covered by my insurance. I have received bills for nearly $1,000 despite me having insurance coverage. I have other family members who went to the same doctor for the same thing and they did not receive the same bills like I did. I have been dealing with this issue since March and have gotten no resolution. I have tried reaching out to the doctors office, sent in appeals to have my bills adjusted and reached out to both the customer service and billing departments for assistance to no avail. I feel that I have been failed on every level. And am now sitting with bills nearing $1,000 for something that should have been no more than an office copay of $30. I am very disappointed in how this situation has been handled.

Since Summa is running my doctors office, you cant hardly get through to them ,they love to put you on hold. Our latest problem involves the refusal of tests ordered by a Summa doctor My wife is in serious pain and can get no help. THANKS SUMMA! If you cant trust your doctors ,get rid of them. Im back Thanks Summa. Rebecca Id call but you have no one to answer your high volume call waiting I suppose they are playing doctor ,over riding your doctors orders. I went to the doctor Friday received prescription only to have Summa alter it. Now Im out of it part way through the healing. Drug store said Summa said I must wait for refill. You must have some great Doctors at your offices because you certainly dont trust the ones you have in your network. Summa please let us have our doctors back, youre ruining health care. Tom Parker.

Now in my second year with the Summacare Ruby plan and I couldn’t be happier. Great service, wonderful people and always feel that they sincerely have my best interests at heart. When I switched to Summacare I was able to keep all my doctors and drug providers. My costs for prescriptions have gone down dramatically with the Summacare Ruby plan. This year I convinced my wife to switch to Summacare Ruby and she is as happy as can be as I am also.

I really have not had too bad of a record with summacare. Been with them since 2013. Have lately had a little problem trying to get formulary book and provider book. Called and was told they would arrive 7 to 10 days. Been couple months and still no books. The new $ 15.00 every 3 months for over the counter is a REAL JOKE. They want 5.00 for a tube of pepsodent tooth paste that I can get at dollar tree for a dollar.

Knowing what is in network or out of network is a mess. I just got $1000 bill because I used a therapist out of network. I thought I was in a facility in network but I came to learn that you have to check if each individual doctor ins in network.It is too complex and too many choices!The health care system is a mess.

This company is a scam. Sure they will pay for your cheap birth control pills but youre already paying 20x that amount every month for their coverage. My wife went to the ER and they wont even pay more than 10% of the cost after her $200 deductible. If you dont understand math, understand this: you will be better off with no insurance than to purchase this insurance.

The prescription drug cost is ridiculously high, most of the time the drug isnt even covered. Lab test were to be free but you pay for the actual needle insertion at 28.00. A 20.00 copay for dentist check up and cleaning and theyre prescriber wouldnt clean my teeth without planing them first at 1500.00. Then the copay for eye exam was 20.00 but the eye Dr. claims they need another 20.00 to write the prescription for the glasses. A lot of hidden fees with this insurance. Definitely switching.

It is a disgrace that Summa employees can only use doctors in-network, with zero coverage for out-of-network. There is no reduction in fees for in-house employees but these same employees must use Summa doctors? This is such bad faith on Summas part, especially when the co-pays are higher than other employers that provide Summa insurance. As one of the largest employers in Akron, someone might wonder why the employee insurance is so bad.

Nothing gets covered with this insurance!!! I get full Dr charges for thousands of dollars and it NEVER gets paid for by my supposed insurance Summacare.. I’ve made many phone calls and. They always say oh that was a mistake, we will resubmit it and take care of it.. That NEVER happens.. I have excellent credit and just received a creditor bill in the mail on a bill for taking my son to a Summacare clinic for strep throat and got a bill for $300.. Now another $1200 bill came in the mail for using the ER which I paid my $200 copay.. he was treated for heat exhaustion will Gatorade and released.. This is the worse scam ever!!!!!! Not an insurance company what so ever!!!!!

Constantly changing formulary. Prior to enrollment misrepresented coverage. Horrendous customer service. If I could give zero stars I would. I pointed out that I was paying extra for an advantage plan and their response was, we just process claims and thats all. So they sent me a customer service review form but no return address and no return envelope. Come on open enrollment, Im counting the days until I can dump this rotten plan.

Not efficient customer service, ask a question their response its not my department or simply do not know anything about health insurance. Have no education, older women answer the phone completely aloof. Reason behind this lower compensation for SummaCare they hire simple minded who are uneducated people who had to go into the workforce because their husband or significant other got lay-off in the manufacturing industry. Win for SummaCare a big lost for those who use their insurance. The healthcare has a tragic trend on their hands many people in Ohio can not get into labor or jobs that they want to so they decide to go into healthcare for all the wrong reasons. Sad state of affairs for the patient. Reason there are many medical errors in the hospital. No one is properly educated or reprimanded for their mistakes.

Please reconsider signing your company or yourself up with this insurance company. Terrible plan options. Horrible customer service and terrible follow through. I continuously submit claims to the company with an emailed back receipt from the company saying they got the document. Then two months passes, I call to check in on the claim and then they say they never got it even though I have screen shots i send them with confirmation of receipt with the date of service listed. Summacare is a complete waste of money.

My mother has been At UH for 2 1/2 weeks with a severe c-diff infection and has been left a shell of her former self. She cannot walk with a walker to the bathroom by herself. The hospital has taken care of the infection and has recommended skilled nursing with physical therapy - especially since she lives alone. I was just told that Summacare DENIED ALL SKILLED NURSING! So, I bring her home in a couple of days and the minute she falls and hurts herself (which will not take long) we will be on the phone with an attorney and suing for an unbelievable degree negligence on your part. UNBELIEVABLE! SHE CANNOT WALK!

Great customer serviced, esp. nurse on call line. However this insurance is terrible. It is hardly accepted by anyone outside of Akron. I hate it, but this is the shape of things to come under Donald Trump and the GOP. Insurance is changing, but not for the better.

We had to acquire other insurance since ours pulled out of the Marketplace. What we did not realize was Summacare has multiple Groups with specific providers. As it turned out all of my doctors were in a Summacare network just not the Summacare I chose at the Marketplace web site. Before choosing Summacare, we called our primary doctors office to inquire if they were in the network they said yes. During a subsequent Dr. visit we were informed, they were in a Summacare network, (actually 2 networks), just not our Summacare and the office would not proceed. The office manager tried to get on the network, Summacare refused. Prior to choosing Summacare, ( which was the suggested replacement by the Marketplace), we reviewed the internet information available and feel the PROVIDER NETWORK GAME they play is somewhat Fraudulent and misleading. Be careful choosing a healthcare provider. Summacare, in my opinion is misleading and confusing on purpose. Update doctors listed on Summacare web site, told us they were not on the network. No one seems to take this insurance. Terrible

Worst customer service ever!!! I wait on hold for over 45 mins then just get cut off. I call back- hold another 30 just to be transferred to some voice mailbox and guess what....its full. cant even leave a message. This is bullshit.

What a joke customer service told me wrong information time after time(3 times) then they dont listen to your concern and call you with half the information that you asked about after hours so you cant even call them back!
