My 4 girls were so well taken care of. The Dentists and their assistants were kind and caring to them. The engaged them in conversation to make them feel comfortable. My youngest had the greatest experience and now she wants become a Dentist!

While the dentists and hygienists are great, the office staff is the worst EVER. They seriously treat people like garbage. I have never been so disrespected and put down in my life. It was awful dealing with them. Ebony who answers the phone made me feel like the worst mother ever. She refused to schedule my son an appointment, and would never call me back, despite multiple times she told me she would (over 2 months). They kept using every excuse possible not to schedule his appointment. Yes, I cancelled his appointment so that he could go to the zoo that day. I did that. But she doesnt know my life situation and shouldnt judge people. And the fact that they are going to let my son suffer and not make him an appointment because of their person prejudice because of my reason for cancelling is ridiculous. Im a single mom of 3 boys, I work full time to provide for them. Unfortunately we dont have extra money for the zoo very often, if ever. So when his daycare was going to take him to the Cleveland Zoo for a field trip, it was a big deal to him. I guess I didnt realize that if we didnt keep the appointment we could never get another one. Completely ridiculous!!!

The wait was a little longer than expected but the dentist is worth the wait!! The staff is extremely kind, even when people are disrespectful. Everyone was just so nice and it was such a great experience for my girls’ first dentist trip.

I have taken my children to this dentist office for years and it has never been the best, but I’ve always feared the do unnecessary work for insurance claims we always wait hours to be seen and today after they reschedule with us twice because of limited staffing they wouldn’t see us because we where 15 minutes late!!! This was my last straw with them I will be finding a new dentist for my children please if you can don’t take your children here

Used to be good but long wait times and rarely will call you back to schedule a appointment. I went with my daughter in at 820 for a appointment that was at 830 didnt see any of the office staff at all not even a sign in sheet I ended up walking out at 855 with a full waiting room and not a staff member in sight

The dentist was very nice and professional. Handled my autistic son very well. Everyone who works with the dentist was kind, professional, and patient with both my kids.

We had the initial appointment for our son it went, the response time and scheduling was an easy process. After the initial appointment it was concluded that our son would have to go through dental surgery. They said they would reach out to schedule him. Close to 2 months passed and no one ever tried to reach us. So we started calling and found that very likely you will never get through to the secretary. After a couple weeks of calling i finally managed to get the secretary on the line. I told her very calmly that i had been trying to reach them for weeks and was trying to find my fiancé in the house so she could get on and schedule our appointment for our son. She gave me excuse after excuse why they havent called or answered the phone for close to 2 months then put me on hold without announcing that she was doing so or why. Eventually i realized she was mad at me and wasnt coming back, so i called and called and called to try to reconnect she ignored every single call. Very disappointed that the secretary decides if my son gets the surgery he needs or not.

Friendly, kind customer service. Office is clean, presentable. Theres a little cute section for the little ones to sit and play while they watch family friendly movies. Oh and theres free wifi. The restroom was clean and I noticed it had a changing table, so that is nice if you visit with an infant.

All of my children have visited. Both dentists, both the female and male, were amazing with my anxious kids! Today, the female dentist talked my daughter through every step. My daughter said this was way better than her last experience at the dentist, which was another dentist office! Thanks for being patient and understanding of the kids!

It’s horrible very unclean the staff have all kind of excuses it’s unsafe it’s the welfare dentist for children they r horrible place . U will wait hours to be see the dentist. I’m scare for my daughter literally have no choice . Omg the staff don’t care at alll I can’t stress that enough . I prey that state shut them down or investigate them

Took my daughter here for her first dentist appointment. It was easy enough to find. We arrived right on time and there were only a few other people in the waiting room. Took a few mins to fill out new patient paperwork and then waited 40 mins to be called... So I had to take a star away for that, because anyone whos had to take a toddler to an appointment and wait for an extended period of time would know that frustration lol. By the time we got called my daughter needed a diaper, was cranky and just would not stay still. The room they took us to was like a common room that already had other kids in it being tended to. I thought that was a bit strange. Not sure if maybe they just do very basic things in this room and do more complex procedures in other rooms? The dental nurses were nice enough. All in all, our appointment took an hour and 15 mins. Needless to say my daughter was not too happy by then! Well be going back in 6 months, and she will have just turned 2 so we will see how the next visit goes. I may change my review if necessary.

They are very Patient with kids and do a great job

The staff was very nice and helpful. It did take them 45min to call us back but they where very patient with my son... his first visit to the dentist.

First 2 appointment goes ok.They left voicemail on my cell about canceling my appointment due to understaffing in office and asked me call back.I call them back ASAP,no answer.And I leave voicemail couple of time,call more then 5 times no response,this is so frustrating.

Today was the first time we came to Akron Smiles as my son was complaining of really bad tooth pain and was crying and not able to sleep. They got me an appointment within one day. The process was easy and the assistants were really nice and had great energy. The dentist was super professional and did a great job. He needed his tooth extracted and they made it much easier and gave him his tooth to take home. I plan to bring my younger child for an exam really soon. Also my son liked that there was a tv in the ceiling that was playing movies while they worked. He loved that. Overall a great experience.

Today Im very disappointed in the staffs communication skills. I cancelled my sons appointment but stated I was keeping my daughters appointment. Of course this had to be left on a voicemail since no one ever answers the phone. They called back while I was on phone with my doctor. I call back and had to leave another voicemail. No one ever returned my call. I arrive for my daughters 3pm appointment that I did not cancel. They cancelled both my son and my daughter. Now we have to wait another 2 months for rescheduled appointment. Its an hours drive from my home to this location. A waste of time and money because staff has no customer service skills. 🤨👎👎👎👎👎

I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because it took a while to get to the back to see the dentist because they were short staffed but once we were back there it was very smooth the staff were great and we just love the dentist

We have been using Akron Smiles Dental Center for 10 years. I have never had a complaint about the service that we receive. There is a wait at times, and its slightly difficult to get them on the phone. Those are the only reasons that I wouldnt leave a 5 star review. They treat my children with respect, dignity and kindness. We love it there! Oh, and they also get all of my children in at the same time which saves me all kinds of time!

The front help was so snobby, making me feel uncomfortable. The doctor didn’t even get the chance to earn my business because of his front office help. I found and use other FRIENDLY, CARING, dentists’ offices now.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to send their child to a good pediatric dental office.

Had a great experience @ Akron Smiles, social distancing was observed and I was shown to a private room to sit (with WIFI) while I waited on my Grands. They had a great check up and the staff was Awesome.

Most of the staff was very friendly. It was our first time at this dental office and my daughters first visit in a while but I feel that maybe things could have been explained a little bit more. Otherwise we got our appointment fast.

My son has had a bit of work done here and they are AMAZING!! So kind and helpful. I laugh every time I’m there. They really make you feel at hone. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. Thanks so much for the care.

Her appointment was at 1pm didnt get seen til 2. Child play area was still open and too many people were allowed at once inside the building which made social distancing hard. When they take your temp its by scan across forehead so it is one of the less accurate forms of temp checking. After we were taken to the back we got forgot about it seemed like until a nurse came in and asked had anything been done. Go at your own discretion

I have been trying the past month to bring my child in and 3 times back to back the day of or before bringing him in they call me to reschedule they should take the job more serious or just not work! Had a few bad experience with them will not be back here at all do not recommend them!

Nice staff. Was great with my daughter, telling her everything they were going to do every step pf the way. I would recommend this place for children of all ages.

My past experiences here have always been good. The staff is always nice and professional. However, today I felt like they should do a better job with the precautions they take during this pandemic. They arent doing anything extra other than the mask, and their regular required sanitation. (They didnt wear Shields) The assistant actually tried seating my daughter right next to a young girl who was getting her teeth cleaned. I asked for us to be moved across the room. The assistant was really nice but I cant tell you how many times she touched her mask and then touched something. I also thought their scheduling would be more spread out, I got there at 8am for my daughters app. And about two to three people went in before us. That was unsettling to me bc I wasnt aware thats how they are running things, when I asked reception what precautions were way before our app. She explained it, I assumed they were spreading appointments out. They were not.. during this time, I would not recommend, but when covid goes away, yes I would lol. I will be searching for a more strict precaution dentist that protect their patiences and their staff better. I did not appreciate that at all.

I usually love this place. But today they didn’t do so good. We sat in the waiting for 40 minutes past my sons appointment time. Then when they called us back that’s when they decided to take our temperature which is backwards if you ask me! Then the entire time there only the Dr came into our room and sanitized her hands. It was a bad experience today! All other times I’ve been there it’s been great!

I’m giving this place 3 stars , the receptionist is the rudest person ever. She needs to be fired not welcoming at all. However staff is pretty good some time I think I don’t enjoy going this. But other than that doctor and Dental Assistant are great! Would I recommend, yes however the reception area needs to go!!

They are so nice and super awesome with kids from the receptionist to the dentist to the assistant..... Everyone of them. Even when your kid gets weird from the attention and has to just keep saying the nerdiest things he can think of they are really patient and sweet.

Called me night before scheduled surgery to cancel because anesthesiologists does not accept insurance. Called anesthesiologists twice left messages to pay out of pocket, no calls back. I 😑arrived June 30 2020 at 3p for two filling for my granddaughter. Room was filled because we took the last two chairs. Asked receptionist how long would our wait be. She declined knowing how long with the amount of patients who were already waiting. So I asked the grandma next to me., how long she had been waiting and was alarmed to know she had been waiting close to two hours . So I informed receptionist I would wait out side in my hot car before I chance sitting inside.So needless to say I wouldnt invite anyone else to your establishment at this pandemic time. Im considering finding a new dentist. If no improvement seen by our next visit.I feel you need to schedule less people in your waiting area at one time. My son has been coming to small smiles since he was 2 years old. The wait isnt to long. Also I get to see everything the dentist and dental staff do. All the employees are nice and they check on you. The dentist was running behind today two different people checked on me and made sure I was good.

Surprisingly great experience today at Akron Smiles! I’ve never really had a bad experience, but today just made me smile! My son had 2 teeth pulled and was so nervous before we got there. We were called back immediately, and the assistants were great with my kids. The dentist explained everything well, answered my sons silly questions, and made him less afraid. I appreciated today’s visit for sure!

Wow, what to say. My experience was similar to many reviewers, though I was hoping it would be otherwise. We waited about 2 hours for our 10 minute appointment. It was a really filthy waiting room and honestly the hygiene of the dental equipment seemed questionable too. The reception staff was indifferent. The only good part the experience was our hygienist. She was INCREDIBLE with my three year old daughter. Even so, we will be looking for a different practice and will not be returning.

My daughter came for her very first dentist visit. Nikki and Dr Sharon were very careful with her, and she loved it! The only time she got upset was when we were leaving, cos she wanted to stay longer. The wait wasnt long at all, and neither was her appointment. Were definitely going back here!

Be prepared to wait two hours past your appointment before even seen. As well as a not so friendly staff. Most of the time they dont tell you whats going on or wont even talk to kids to make them comfortable. This is our second visit. We will be finding a new place.SO INSTEAD OF APOLOGIES FIX THE PROBLEM

I loved the experience my daughter had here and so did she. It was her first time to the dentist and she even got to go to the princess room! Dr. Bekka did fantastic and was very sweet with my daughter (who had a tooth pulled). I highly recommend this office! They have a lot of patience and show they care!

Took over 45 mins to get seen from scheduled appointment. Told my kids they where putting vitamins on there teeth when I asked what it was they said fluoride. Fluoride is NOT a vitamin and people should look up what fluoride is ACTUALLY used for. Overall I understand the people where just doing there jobs, I will be looking for another dentist tho.

This was my kids first visit and will be their last I had 3 kids with appts the receptionist was very polite however the doctor and assistants wasn’t as friendly they didn’t even acknowledge the fact I was sitting there the whole time while they were working on my kids teeth saying things to my kids like they understand what their saying about their teeth when it’s an adult sitting in the room and not explaining to the adult about what their doing as well the service was horrible the doctor didn’t even introduce herself and the assistant told me what they did to my kids teeth after they did it instead of explaining what they was doing before they did it and they had to retake all three of my kids x rays because they wasn’t took right the first time so that added extra time on top of the time we were already there I came from across town to come to this place on public transportation and I will never take my kids there ever again they service and attitudes suck if I had the option of giving no stars that will be just that no stars they don’t even deserve one most of them need re-trained they customer service is beyond me

Every one there was very professional they talk to making sureyou understood everything that would happen. My grandson was nervous but he went back by himself and I was glad to see how gentle with the children.

The front desk was very friendly, as well as the hygienist. The office was hectic; the doctor barely said two words before she disappeared. My kids were in the chairs, waiting for their cleanings because the cleaning tools were being sanitized, which seemed odd. We were in & out in about an hour.

Over booked. If my appt is scheduled at 11, waiting an hour in the waiting room is unacceptable. My 1 year old wasnt given a thorough cleaning because of her age. Shes almost 2. Will not be returning. Great job with my 3 year old though.

I take my children to all their cleanings and brush their teeth at least daily. I noticed my two year old son had some pain with his top teeth and some discoloration around the time of his previous cleaning. I mentioned it to the dentist who stated it was only discoloration and not to worry. My son was 18months at the time. No xrays were done despite the pain. At his 2 yr old cleaning the other day xrays were performed and my sons front four teeth are deteriorating from the inside out. I asked the doctor how it could go from only discoloration to this severe in 6 months and she said it is possible. My son could have had this addressed sooner if only they would have completed xrays. I hope he doesnt have to lose his front four teeth at 2 years old but it is now a possibility. Now Im being referred to another dentist given they do not do sedation for 2 yr old. They had no problem recommending sedation for my 8 yet old who only needed caps. I said absolutely not why would I risk those type of drugs for a basic dental procedure. I would not refer this dentist to anyone. My childrens next cleanings are scheduled at Akron childrens now.

Everytime my kids have a appointment it is dreaded. The wait time is unreasonable! There rule that if you are more then 15 minutes late they make you reschedule. However you are expected to wait for 2 hours in a waiting room before being seen everytime you go. They need to figure something else out with scheduling. Also they are supposed to specialize in caring for children and have the atmosphere for them. Only things for kids to do for the long wait is watching a movie and coloring. That would be fine if the wait was not over 2 hours everytime!

My kids like this place, it gets very crowded at times. The waiting time in lobby is about 1hr. There are signs posted about not drinking or eating in lobby which are not respected at all.Overall, an Ok place for a kids dentist.

It is too long of a wait....i dont know how they expect people who work to keep a appointment. Need sat hrs asap. This place is the absolute worst...had appointment at 10 was not seen until 12:00. They preceded to tell me my daughter didn’t have any cavities after they saw two on x Ray...like what..did they disappear. “Some dentists are more aggressive with treatment” I wouldn’t bring my worst enemy here

Took my two-year-old for a visit they were patient and very kind. Very pleased.

I drove 40 minutes to get my 3 yr old daughter in who was complaining of a tooth hurting her. Walked in the door and instantly got hit with a horrible smell. Then looked around and saw the entire waiting room was filthy! I mean absolutely disgusting! I felt terrible my daughters tooth hurt but I had to leave. If I walked into that place with my dog I wouldnt have let them look at him either!

The wait time is outrageous! ONE DENTIST for this many patients?! What a joke. Staff was impatient and rude with my 5 year old & the place looked filthy and run down. Visible dirt on floor/chairs, funny smell about the place. I understand this is where most of us on state HAVE to come but Id feel better taking my chances on her not coming to a dentist at ALL rather than here.

Six months ago we had a great experience. The staff was so kind and warm. Today I almost went to jail when one of their techs decided to get in my five year olds face. This woman then tried to claim that she didn’t get in his face in an aggressive manner but instead she was getting closer so he could hear her. My son doesn’t have any hearing problems and I heard her just fine from across the room when she was in my child’s face telling him good boys don’t act like this, you’re being a very bad boy. No, five year olds do act like this when they have to do something they don’t want to do. This staff has nerves of steel to do this not knowing what kind of parents these kids have but she got the right parent this time. My son was curled up in a ball with tears coming down his face while she was bent over him and I couldn’t even see him. Never again will I suggest this office or take any of my kids here. Both of my boys walked out crying and didn’t even get the cleaning they came for because I WILL NOT tolerate another adult being aggressive with my kids for any kind of medical appointment. I left fuming mad and I’m sure she probably had to change her underwear when I got done scolding her.

Slowest office in Akron. Took close to 2 hours for 1 kids to be seen. Not sure why they would want us to review them, since the wait time is horrible. Honestly, if you can avoid this office PLEASE DO.

I took my granddaughter there and she was treated very kind, she got a tooth removed and was not afraid or anxious at all . They team did a great job informing her of their every move . Shes also had fillings later and she really likes the dentist , Dr. Becka.

They capped my daughters teeth and after going to a different dentist I discovered that one of the teeth never had a cavity to begin with. Be sure to visit this dentist if you would like to experience insurance fraud at the expense of your children. I would give them zero stars if possible.

I waited for three hours and never seen any dentist any assistant or anything. I have never had to wait that long for a filling. All you hear is kids screaming from pain and staff yelling at kids. It was horrible. I left and will not be going back.

Had a scheduled appointment for dental work for my children. We get there and are told we dont have a appointment. Then they cant find either of my kids records. Then they tell me that the dentist that was working today was not comfortable pulling a adult tooth. So needless to say we will never be returning. I suggest anyone thinking about going here find a different place to go.

If you are considering bringing your child here for services, PLEASE do yourself and your child a huge favor by reading the google review first. You will NOT be seen on time. Came here years ago when it was Small smiles. Left the practice due to over scheduling and waiting over 2 hours after a scheduled appointment to be seen. Once Dr. Crites purchased it and it changed to Akron Smiles, I came back to try again because I am familiar with Dr. Crites. Sadly, nothing got better, it got worse. Our appointment today was 9:00 am. That early in the morning you would think they wouldnt be behind. We are still sitting here at 9:45. When I approached the desk to remind her our appointment was at 9, the receptionist rolled her eyes and walked away to the back. As I waited I scrolled through the Google reviews, and clearly this is an ongoing problem, as is the poor attitudes of the staff. When she returned, she told me someone was getting ready to come out and get him. I asked her if she had ever read their google reviews to see this is a continuous problem, and she said I have no idea what is going on in the back. Hmmmmm..... maybe thats part of the problem. Lack of communication and RESPECT among staff? The receptionist was rude to incoming callers (I was sitting right next to the check in window), and SHE is the one (I havent even been in the back yet) that helped me make the decision to NOT bring my other children back to this establishment again. Thank goodness this was my sons last visit hear anyway because he will be 18. Shame on you Akron Smiles. Tsk tsk tsk. Professionalism is non existent here.

I previously was on Medicaid and had no issues going here but I switched insurance between visits.My husband told me that the medical insurance covers things that are preventive like cleanings,exams etc and the dental is secondary incase there is a copay for something that doesnt fall under the preventative category.First things first...I get there at the scheduled appointment time of 8:30 am with my two sons and she says my oldest son was scheduled at 8am.I looked at my appointment reminder text again and I had one for each child and they both said 8:30am.No big deal...I have anxiety and dont like confrontations so I didnt say anything.I give her my medical card and my dental card and she says that medical doesnt cover anything and she doesnt need that card.I figured Ill just fill out the mountain of paper work and Ill call my husband because maybe he is incorrect about the primary insurance.I call my husband and hes getting really aggravated about it and saying that he is correct and I have to make her run that card.I take it back up to her and she rejects it again.I look up my medical benefits online and sure enough medical does cover preventative dental.I take it back to her and explain that it does cover it and she rejects it AGAIN.My husband says if she wont accept it then I need to just leave.I dont want to leave because the kids need their dental checkups and one of my sons needs an excuse for school and we enjoyed going here in the past.I decide to actually call the insurance company and the woman on the phone says the visit is covered at this office and there is no copay and gives a rundown of all the things medical covers as far as dental benefits.I go back up and tell the receptionist that Im actually on the phone with the insurance company and that they do cover dental benefits as primary on my medical plan and that the insurance she was trying to run as primary is actually secondary.She still doesnt want to believe that its covered and the woman from the insurance company is laughing because it is so absurd and says she will fax over what is covered.She faxed it over and the visit went on without a hitch but the whole situation was so bizarre.I didnt expect a formal apology but she could at least lose stank face.She was not very polite but not necessarily overtly rude and she was very dismissive.When I went to check out after the visit and get a doctors excuse the other girl who was back there with the receptionist was acting akward and was staring at me with a stank face and wouldnt speak to me even though I was at HER window and actually made the original receptionist lean over to the little window to talk to me.I turned around as I left and saw them shaking their heads and smirking.That was so mature and professional.I didnt do anything wrong.She was misinformed and unwilling to hear what I was kindly trying to tell her FOUR different times.A woman with long brown hair who did the cleaning took a nasty tone with my son because he didnt turn his head exactly the way she wanted even though he was trying to follow her instructions.My kids are very well behaved.I cant imagine what she is like with kids who are actually not listening.If youre going to work intimately with children then you should know how to get them to do what you want without taking a nasty tone with them.I saw another review on here about her getting nasty with another kid.The dentists themselves are always great and Ive only had good experiences in the past which is why I decided to stay with them even though I travel from Tallmadge and no longer had to because I wasnt on Medicaid any longer but never again after this nightmare.My son said in the car Mommy,why was that lady so mean to me? and said he never wanted to go back.The whole visit was so bizarre that it took me a while to process it and the more I thought it over the more I actually realized that I was kind of ticked about it all.I mean cmon! Get it together people 🙄

They performed a hack Job and a half on my son. They filled a couple of bad teeth instead of giving a root canal, or pulling...which they dont pull or give root canals. I had to go all the way to Cleveland Metro the Dental School for Case Western Reserve to get proper care. They were wonderful. It is worth the drive to head to Cleveland twice a year!When you have Buckeye or any State Aid youre treated like dirt by a lot of dentists. Ill continue to pray for them and hopefully the Lord will touch their hearts to provide better care.

They over schedule too many people at one time! There is no way My daughters appointment was at 10am, we arrived @9:45, and were still sitting here with tons of people ahead of us.
