My daughter pulled her arm and we ended up coming here. I’m so glad they’re located here or else it would be a long drive to an ER. The staff was amazing! They were very responsive and understanding. The doctors were very patient with kids. They did a fantastic job making sure we are aware of the condition and the further treatments. The place was also very clean.

I intentionally went to Wesley Woodlawn, twice, because I had been there before and I felt confident and safe to go there. I was in trouble, but didnt realize how bad until later. They gave me immediate, concerned attention and got me the help I needed. The doctor and staff took me very seriously and compassionately listened to me. I have since had surgery at the main hospital and on the road to recovery. I am very thankful to have Wesley Woodlawn so close and would not hesitate to head there immediately again.

I went in after experiencing whiplash in a small car accident. The staff was friendly (especially CT) but some were slightly dismissive and I was in and out relatively quick. I received a CT scan to make sure everything was okay but a major issue I have with this place is that for a possible head injury I find it extremely irresponsible and neglectful to leave a patient to doze off and sleep. I’m not saying I needed a babysitter but maybe just doing the extra step in not closing the curtain and having someone check in every now and then. Thankfully I was okay, but imagine the liability if a patient did have a brain injury was left unattended and fell asleep causing more issues. Of course, I’m not a medical expert but I’d rather have more safety precautions than none.

Wesley Woodlawn is just a smaller version of Wesley on Hillside Both are fantastic. I have never had a bad experience at neither. There is only one minor problem at The Woodlawn. There is no ramp for wheelchairs from the parking lot to the entrance. You have to go over the curb to get to the doorway. I’m surprised no one has spoken about it before

My appt was for 10:30 a.m. on a Saturday for a MRI. I had to enter thru the ER entrance because of it being on a Saturday. I checked in at the front and the lady did not even take my name and just said she would notify Imaging. I never saw her pick up a phone or anything to notify anyone. After sitting for an hour, I went to the front desk again and asked what was going on and she just said she would notify them again. Once again, no phone calls or anything and she obviously did not give a darn. After about an hour and 15 min. someone else checked in for an MRI and I said quite loudly to her that plan on waiting for quite some time cause I was still waiting for my 10:30 appt. Evidently someone that cared heard me and Imaging showed up a few minutes later. The personnel in Imaging had not been notified either time that I was waiting for my appt. The imaging People were great but evidently the crew at the front desk are not happy that they are having to work the weekends .

I came to the emergency room and ended up needing surgery. In less than an hour I had been seen had blood drawn had an IV and a CT scan. Any other large ER its a good hour just to get back to a room. Couldnt imagine a better place to be, it was clean, fast service, friendly staff and just a wonderful experience overall from the emergency room to surgery to the floor that I stayed on overnight everything was wonderful. Definitely different than any other emergency room in this city. My patient room was spacious and the menu was huge that I could call and order food from. I dont want to go anywhere else in the future if Im ever needing a hospital. Dr Walters was my surgeon and is fantastic!

Review №67

The surgical aspects of my visit were top notch! Everyone one involved in preparation for my procedure worked flawlessly together as a well-oiled machine. They kept me engaged, which helped keep me calm and focused as everything progressed to go time and they put me under. Recovery went equally well and I was grateful they had removed the trachea tube prior to waking me (sparing me that uncomfortable ordeal). Once they determined I was stable I was moved to my room. My attending nurse explained the information board, the names of those providing my care and answered my questions.Later in the day it was suggested I order some dinner so I looked at the menu. Lets face it, hospital food will never achieve a Michelin star. I scoured the menu with a critical eye, focusing on something I could possibly tolerate and they couldnt possibly screw up. Sadly, I didnt realize that I was dealing with polished professionals that were well-entrenched; I never had a chance! I ordered baked salmon with steamed broccoli - seamed pretty safe, right? Hah! That salmon turned out to be a processed brick devoid of flavor and so dry that I literally had to choke each bite down with several swallows of water to get it to go down. The steamed broccoli turned out to be a half-cup of half-inch sliced broccoli STEMS - *very* tough, fibrous and chewy... not ONE floret in the dish! The only bright spot was the prepackaged jello for dessert. Come breakfast time I resolved to try again (not yet having learned my lesson) I decided to order 2 hard-boiled eggs... those things were WAY overcooked. You remember playing with superballs as kids? Ive never cut a hard-boiled egg before, wishing I had something sharper! It took copious amounts of coffee to force those down. Fortunately the nurse took pity on me and kept the coffee coming. In summary: Medical care - super! Kitchen - BLEAH!!

Review №77

I had two very different experiences at your institution, one in the emergency room, the other in the main hospital, so I am going to address them separately. First, however I want to say a bit about my experience with pain, since that is what my visit was about. I am an 82 year-old anthropologist and retired college professor. I am no stranger to pain. l I have experienced multiple broken bones, three rotator cuff surgeries, a knee replacement, a previous laminectomy, dental repair done in a jungle side village without Novcaine (at my direction because of the danger of contaminated needles and hepatitis) and the laminectomies performed four days previously that brought me to Wesley Woodlawn. The pain that brought me to the emergency room on May 5th, however, was of a completely different order of magnitude from anything I had experienced before. Intense muscle spasms centered on the incision in my back buckled my knees and caused me to cry out involuntarily, something Id never done before. I could not stand or walk. We called 911.I was admitted to the ER and presumably pain killers (although they seemingly had little effect) were administered. a nurse appeared, apparently to evaluate me. She asked me to stand and try to walk. I knew that would trigger a spasm (since I had been experiencing them for two days). I said thats not going to happen. And she left. My wife reported that the nurse said that I had refused to try to stand. I hadnt refused, I couldnt stand. We had been there for hours with no apparent plan to help me. I reluctantly agreed to try to stand. I managed to sit on the side of the bed and asked for a walker. The nurse finally brought one. I slid to my feet, bore weight; it triggered a severe spasm. I said something to the effect of Im not refusing to do it; its not ### possible. She left and was soon replaced by the P.A. and who proceeded to berate me for using profanity in front of her staff. She said that she had ordered to nurse to ask me to stand as part of a necessary evaluation. There had been no indication of why I had to do it before that. There was no acknowledgement of the agony that had just been inflicted on me and certainly no apology for it.I then lay there in the ER for over six hours while they did I dont know what, since no one told us anything until the evening when I was transferred to the main hospital. That transfer immediately put me in an entirely different world. I was surrounded by people whose immediate goal was to alleviate the pain I was in. Within a few hours, the frequency and severity of the spasms had decreased significantly. The next two days saw a succession of medical professionals and physical therapists, all focused on my recovery. by the end of the first full day after admission, the muscle spasms had essentially ceased. After another day of treatment and counseling, I was released, already provided with an arrangement for home health care and physical therapy to complete my recovery. I cannot say enough in praise of the hospital staff and of the care they provided me.The most striking thing about this entire experience is the astonishing discontinuity between the institutional cultures of the emergency room and the main hospital. In the ER, I was a piece of meat to be dealt with. In the hospital, I was a human being to be concerned about and cared for. I dont think a single hospital staff-member ever entered my room without immediately asking how are you feeling? or what is your pain level? They were all knowledgeable about my surgery and muscle spasms and prior pain. The pervasiveness of that orientation toward the patient at every level of the treatment process that I experienced obviously reflects the values and subsequent policy decisions at the highest level that govern the operation of the hospital. The apparent absence of those values in the institutional culture of the ER must must similarly reflect decisions, conscious or unconscious, made at the management level of that facility.

I just got home a couple hours ago after having a hysterectomy. As much as I would rather not go through another surgical procedure, if I had to I would gladly go back here. They made the whole thing so much less stressful than it could have been; everyone was so nice, communicative, and I felt like I was in good hands from the start (including during my pre op assessment). The nurses/PAs who helped me before (Kelsey and Trudy, I believe her name was) and after (Danielle, Jana, and Michael) were phenomenal. They were kind, patient, and joked a little which really put me at ease, and were attentive afterwards while I was recovering from anesthetic. The anesthesiologist came in before the surgery to tell me what would be done on his end and gave me a chance to ask questions, though he explained well enough I didnt feel the need to.The surgery went very smoothly, my incisions look great, and I dont see any bruising around the IV insertion point or anything (which I usually do; the back of my hand bruises easily). And the icing on the cake was the little notes I saw from two of the nurses/PAs on my discharge envelope wishing me a good and speedy recovery. I had already felt like everyone genuinely cared about their jobs and their patients and this just confirmed it.I cant recommend this place enough.

Reception there was Curt and cold, basically telling me to sit and wait. The check in for the scan went smoothly. The young lady (Tressa) was the real gem. She was very pleasant and friendly. She even let me out the scan entrance/exit to be near the handicapped parking where I parked before noting the hours (M-F) posted on the window next to the door.
