I get where most of these bad reviews are coming from, I have experience with mercy as I have been coming there for years, but its honestly not just mercy, doctors in general these days, just dont care, its that simple, even if you pay them up front, when doctors dont know, they tend to lie, just like everyone else, you really cant trust anybody these days, I think people forget in any profession that its the consumer who is billed for their services, and in the end, those people are the ones who pay your paycheck, I personally have had to deal with rude nurses in the er before, and a couple of doctors, which is fine its their decision, but I should get to request a different doctor honestly. hospitals are unpleasant enough as it is, shouldnt have to waste my time, dealing with rude staff.

I seriously do not know why people say bad things about this hospital. I was hospitalized for two weeks three months ago, sent to four different hospitals, and this is by far the best hospital in the St. Louis area. I’m back here again and they still have the best staff. I love mercy Washington. Big mercy St. Louis is the worst one I’ve been to.

Two broken ribs. Triaged with trouble breathing. They ordered an xray. Fast-forward three hours...signed myself out AMA after not seeing a provider. I went to Total Access and was seen right away. In addition to the long wait, I had to listen to people being hateful to the receptionists. They have no say as to how fast things go.

They first basically laughed at me saying it was probably just a sprain and acted like I was just being dramatic.it was in fact a severe break in the growth plate and fracture up her lower leg bone. The temporary cast was done so poorly it caused her more pain the relief and we had to get it switched out at another hospital ASAP!!! Do not go here! It’s a very incompetent hospital

I wish I could give a negative amount of stars. This hospital, if you even want to call it that, is the LAST place you want to be if you need help. Spouse was in a car accident, he flipped his truck several times and landed in a ravine. He was brought to this poor excuse of a hospital by ambulance. Had a very clear collar bone break and was in extreme shock. He wasnt even admitted. They didnt check for a concussion or any other injuries. He complained of rib pain and they did not xray his ribs, only the collar bone. A nurse by the name of Sarah in the ER department at around 9 pm on April 7th, approached my spouse while in the hospital bed. She then proceeds to stomp on the bed lever thrusting him forward. Lets not forget about how he has a collar bone with has been broken in several places. He was not very happy. They also gave him ONE pain pill and sent him home with nothing in the middle of the night when no pharmacies were open. I have wondered if it has to do with the fact he is Mexican or the fact he doesnt have health insurance. Either way, this hospital is a joke and needs to inspected by an official. Also, Sarah, make sure to wear your seat belt, because karma is a B.

Youll get better care at your local vets office.Undereducated staff that neglect to treat patients with the care they require.Missed an obvious heart attack that came back 3 days in a row til the FAMILY requested that tropinin be drawn. Then the patient had already experienced major permanent heart damage and placed on a balloon pump. Miraculously surviving only to go back later times with major complications which this hospital failed to treat with the most basic of care.To top it off when the patient first had his heart attack and I talked to the treating physician he replied by saying how he believes that he is my medical director of the EMS agency in which I worked therefore threatening my job if I would sue for negligence, abandonment or malpractice/wrongful death.*Update- the patient was sent back to the hospital again where they were removed from lasix and recieved several fluid boluses which the patient even expressed his concern over, before being discharged to home. 1 day later his weight was up 30 pounds due to fluid retention and he couldnt breath. He was immediately taken back to he closest facility (being this excuse for a hospital) and is now in heart arrhythmia due to his fluid complication and will be likely admitted for another week, yet this was caused by the hospital and he will still recieve a detrimental billAlso no. I will not reach out to your customer service because the last time they happened you threatened my job/the job of my one of my other family members if I spoke out. Now that my family member is back on his death bed yet again due to your hospitals poor care and Ive switched jobs I am happy for people to read about how terrible your facility is.

The ER side of this hospital is terrible. I had my own bad experiences but this review is for my best friend. Shes too busy sitting with her son who was admitted at Childrens after this hospital sent him home. Otherwise she would write this review herself. Hes been in the hospital for THREE DAYS. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I hope people read my review to save them the same struggles I went through when I went here. I came into the ER thinking I was having a miscarriage because I had been bleeding for 3 months straight and in the worst imaginable pain I cant even describe. After hours of sitting in the waiting room being patient even tho I was scared and in pain they finally took me back. But after getting blood taken, the doctor said I was not dying and to take some Tylenol and go home. I begged him is there anything he could do to give me answers or help with the pain. But all he said was that he could do some ultrasounds but it would be a complete waste of his time and referred me to an obgyn. I ended up finding my own and figured things out with them. They ended up charging me $1,000 for the visit. When I went to complain saying I wasnt even treat and the terrible care I had gotten I was told they would review it and now its been 2 months, I cant pay it, and they wont get back to me at all. I wish I knew of more places to write a review because I want to help save all woman and of course everyone from having to have this same issue. Please if you are a woman, go somewhere else they have no idea what to do when it came to me. My obgyn said if I waited any longer it could have gotten really bad. Save yourselves and go to ssm!!!!!

My husband has had 6 of these procedures done at another hospital. This hospital lacks commutation between employees and between their customers. Rethink Mercy for this type of procedure. Plus, it’s really cold (even by hospital standards). I’ll update this post when/if we see the doctor.UPDATE: Doctor just came in and his reason was the 2 o’clock appts often turn into 3 or 3:30. A big THANK YOU! to the nurses on the Labor and Delivery floor of Mercy Hospital Washington, and also to Dr. Elizabeth Hammer. Our little girl was born there just a few days ago, and they made our experience just wonderful. My husband and I are adoptive parents, and we felt nothing but their full support for our familys unique needs. They included us in the process and made us feel welcome. Dr. Hammer of course took our daughters medical needs as her primary concern, and was approachable and kind in the process. She was flexible within typical hospital and newborn-baby protocol to make things as easy and comfortable for our family as possible; first during our hospital stay, but then again for our follow-up visits and transition home to our regular primary care provider. These providers are absolutely wonderful. Thank you again!

My 9 year old was visiting my mother during his summer vacation and ended up having appendicitis the second day he was there. The staff at Mercy was amazing. I had to travel from Georgia (and made the trip in record time) so I wasnt there for he surgery. The surgeon took the time to get on the phone with me and explain everything and answer any questions before and after the operation. The nurses were great with him. I made it to the hospital and the nurses catered to every possible need either he or I had. The night nurse kept telling him that he was her favorite patient and the day we left, all three of his daytime nurses walked him out and told him how great he was. It could have been a very traumatic experience for him, but the staff made it much easier. Im grateful for the care my son received.

I had to have an emergency CAT scan last weekend, after falling down a few stairs and hitting my head on the hardwood floor at the bottom of the stairs. I was told nothing showed up, and to follow-up within a week with my regular doctor. Now I dont know what normal procedure is, but I assumed my CAT scan results would be sent to my regular doctor. Mercy had that information. I did not think I had to give specific instructions to send the results out to my Dr., but I found out today I had to give specific instructions, and that it would take ten days to reach my Dr., unless the Dr.s office requested them FedExd. How can they expect someone whos just suffered a head trauma to think of telling them to send the results to their Dr.?!!! Results should be sent automatically to ones regular doctor, especially when Mercy ER specifically tell the patient to follow-up within one week with their regular doctor!!! Also was not impressed with the ER Dr., as he came flying out of his office as I was leaving. Very little information given, just my exit handout to read. Glad I dont have to use that ER much.

Im not one to write reviews but I had to in this case because the service was horrifying. Honestly if I didnt go to another hospital I very well could have lost my kidney. I went in to the ER because I had a pain in my right side and it was unbearable to the point that I was crying and I have a high pain tolerance. So I went in they were very nice to me and pretty quick to respond. I told them what was going on and the fact that this had happened 4-5 years ago and they thought it might have been a cyst on my ovary. So all they did was try and give me a pill for the pain (which I immediately threw up) then they gave me a shot of morphine with hurt much more than it should have and I had a giant bruise at the injection site for weeks. I was starting to feel better, maybe because I wasnt moving and just laying there. They came in and told me Oh well its not an ovarian cyst so you can go now. So my boyfriend and I left and then after picking up a prescription about 10-15 mins later I started vomiting continuously. So I called the ER again and they were very rude and said well you need to make an appointment with your regular doctor (which if I did it would be at least 6 months to get in) or they said I could come back in. So I figured I would try to wait it out. I still kept vomiting I couldnt even keep liquids down I was dry heaving and couldnt keep the medicine down. They never ran blood tests or scanned any part of my body or anything like that. So then I called my mother and we went up to the ER all the way up in Jefferson City (Where my parents live close to). They ran blood tests and everything and found out my kidney had blockage in it and I had to have surgery or I would have lost my kidney. If you have a serious problem and need to go to the ER I highly recommend that you go somewhere else because they arent going to do anything but tell you what you already know and give you drugs.

I broke my hand in the same spot for the second time. I work over the road and so I wasnt able to get to the doctors until late in the evening about three days after it happened. There was no wait which was nice. And they were quick with my x-rays. But the PA on staff came In and told me that my x Rays looked fine and that it must just be sore from overuse. While I am no doctor and hold no medical degree, I know what a broken bone feels like and I know what tendenitis feels like, as Ive experienced both. Anyways, she comes back in a few minutes later and says that the radiologist caught a fracture on my scans that she didnt, and it was the same break I had previously. I absolutely need my good hand to work as I drive a semi truck and that mistake could have cost me a month of work. I am glad someone else on staff caught it though. However, they gave me the number to a hand specialist and told me to call him first thing the next morning and to let him know the ER would like me to be seen by him as soon as possible. I called the following morning and talked to a receptionist. She took my info and said that he was in the office that day and would look at my scans and then give me a call. Its been 2 weeks and havent heard back. I took the splint off because the pain has subsided and its makes doing my job much safer and easier without my right hand immobile. I will likely regret that decision but I have to continue working. While the staff was friendly for the most part this wont be my first choice for emergencys or specialists again.

And to top it all off worse nurse ever put his iv in wrong and when they got to big mercy his arm was swollen like a balloon and looked horrible so they had to take it out. I will never take my family there again id rather drive a hour and ten minute to big mercy. Dont take your children here.

Worst experience of my life. Went to the emergency room, and never did get in. Had to go to another hospital. The restroom was disgusting, and when I turned on the water to wash my hands the water was brown for a minute before clearing up. Never again Mercy. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT!

I’m disgusted at the McCaughley clinic. My husband has no insurance and has so many medical issues. So I called to try to get him some help. Due to the lack of insurance he’s been trying to treat his pain however he can and they won’t see him. They treated him as a drug abuser when the man just needs help. If he was seeking drugs we could throw a rock and hit a local drug dealer and save ourselves the upset. But no, he wants help. He needs to be diagnosed and he needs the proper medications and treatment and they were rude and judgemental and would rather turn someone away then give them the care and resources they need to get better. What a terrible, useless place.

My wife went there in September 2017 after falling off a horse. They performed X-Rays on Elbow and Hip. They concluded no bones broken and told my wife to exercise arm. Week or two later, the pain was worse. Went ahead and took her to St. Anthonys. They also did X-Rays and found clear break of Elbow. Then we get invoice from Mercy-Washington for around $900 for exam and x-rays. We also received invoice from St. Anthonys for exam and x-rays for around $750. I told Mercy that we were not going to pay because they misdiagnosed. Why should we have to pay twice for same analysis. Mercy said that they did standard procedure and could not see broken bone and St. Anthony did because they may have looked at it differently. Likewise, Mercy told my wife to stretch and exercise arm which could have resulted in more damage. Now my wife complains that her elbox catches at certain times. Mercy claims NO responsibility and has turned over the $200 that we owe them (after our insurance paid the rest) to a collection agency. Of course, we are happy to pay the St. Anthony invoice. Mercy has collected about $750 from our insurance company for a mis-diagnosis that took about 10 minutes to complete and expects us to pay the $200 the rest. Mercy Hospital is Mercy-less. More to come........

Dr. Stapp & her nurse Monty treated my like I was faking an illness to get pain medication. After she completely missed the ulcers on my tonsils & consequently put me through useless tests, she tried sending me home. I insisted she look again & low & behold, there IS something there. An hour and a half after I arrived, she finally paged an ENT doctor who took me seriously & helped me. Awful experience & their patient relations office isnt much better. They have their minds & attitudes set when they finally get around to calling you back.

Sat there waiting with my daughter who may have appendicitis for an hour while many people who came in after me went right back with no trouble I wont be coming back very poor excuse for emergency room when people clearly come in without emergency and get seen before a child with a fever and stomach painsupdate** she did have to have emergency surgery which made it even worse that we sat the waiting that long! shameful

The most inattentive ER I have ever been to. I hope I never have to go there again or ever send family there. I went in by ambulance for chest pains. They did an ex ray and lab work. I went almost 2 hours without being checked on and they sent me home (still having chest pains) with no answers except call your Dr tomorrow.

Ive been there twice and each time I came in with acute back pain. They treated my like a pill abuser trying to get a fix but Im in tears, wincing and they just wanted to offer tramadol, which I happen to have alot left over from previous injuries, they dont work.I left each time and went to a hospital that understood my pain and managed it for me.Dont bother going there if your in serious pain...find a better hospital that cares.

I fell July 24th 2016 and broke both of my wrists and injured several of my body organs. My grand son drove me to the ER. Im here to tell you Im very lucky to be alive. Dr. Menges and staff temporarily splinted my wrists because there was no surgeon available. Now mind you with all these injurerys and a oxygen level of 77 % sent me home for 4 days w/ out oxygen. When I returned I was in such bad shape I spent several days in ICU. They couldnt fix my wrists until Aug. 1st. The last two an a half days out of ICU the nursing staff left me in a chair freezing for two hours, with noway to call for help. They basically put me in a room and did as little as possible to get by. Mind you I have two broken wrists and staff would walk by knowing I couldnt even feed myself. The night before I was released a nurse came in to take blood pressure and I begged her to use a different kind because the one she uses hurt so bad. She went off on me and said Do you know why your here, your only here for us to watch you I was floored!! When I tried to explain how my Ins. was paying her pay check she said to me What am I suppose to do, I have 15 people to care for Can you believe how badly I wanted to get up from that bed. There is so much more that happened in that hospital at night and things Im still having to deal with from being in that Honorable Hospital.Im looking for phone numbers or anyone out there who can help me file a complaint!

My story of being ignored is nothing compared to the way the ladies at the admittance desk treated a senile lady. They straight up told her if she left now she wouldnt owe the $75 co pay and it would not matter to them.

Since this has changed to Mercy it has become nothing more than a money making herd them through like cattle establishment. Horrible place. Mis-diagnosis runs amuck with poor patient care. Shoot now they dont even have on-call physicians! You have to call a nurse line who tells you to go to the ER. Wow that helps that is IF THEY EVEN ANSWER THE PHONE!

2 days ago my husband , who has a heart condition, complained of chest pain. We went first to the local hospital. They were not equipped to deal with his complaint and asked us to go to Mercy Hospital in Washington . Since it was clear that he didnt have a heart attack, we went in our own car.Within minutes of arriving , he was in the ER, blood was being drawn , an EKG was being done and his problem was addressed quickly and professionally . He was then admitted to the 5th floor. We got there around 5 a.m., by 10 a.m. he was in the Cath lab for a heart cath. The cardiologist found the problem , fixed it and we went home that same afternoon. While we were there every procedure was explained and follow up care was established . The speed and professionalism made staying there a very pleasant experience .

Broken ankle from a car accident They didnt bother cleaning my wounds before they wrapped my ankle. Just seems rudimentary to me. I was transported to mercy town and country for brain bleeding and I did not have any. My confidence of the personal on site stands exactly where it has been for the last 3 years. the chage over rate of staff is unusually high.
