If I can give 0 star I would. Do not come here. My sister give them id and insurance card for check in. They never give them back. No one there want to help us find it. So ridiculous. Security there even give me the wrong number to call. They intentionally don’t want to help. Maybe because we are Asian. Might have to sue for discrimination!

WOW. Just wow. Run, do not walk, away from this hospital. All of these other reviews are right. It took over 6 hours to be seen. The on call doctor who saw me was nice and told me I was ready to be discharged, but that didn’t happen for another 1.5 hours. Meanwhile, the waiting room was filled with sick people waiting for hours who could have used my bed. I told the nurse who was discharging me that I didn’t want to complain but this whole process, from walking in to being discharged, took too long. She told me, “that’s the American healthcare system for you.” No, that’s GW hospital who desperately needs to improve their processes.

Would give zero if I could. Husband came in as a trauma. He was lucid and had ID but I understand they needed to treat him so they gave him pseudonym. Then they wouldn’t give me any info waiting in the waiting room for 2 hours because they couldn’t ID him. A med student bandaged all the wounds incorrectly with no supervision. They relocated his shoulder and several doctors, orthopedist came without saying who they were (I think residents not sure if attending ever came). Finally when done, they needed to “change” his name to real in the system in order to print scripts and this never happened after several hours so we left. I called the ER registration as a doctor to have them come which they did but the man never asked for his phone number, address, or insurance card and kept returning every 5 minutes. We sat with no care taking up valuable expensive ER real estate doing nothing. Sadly, I would not send family here or recommend.

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Definitely the worst of the worst…. Unless you’re literally dying, and it’s the last hospital on earth, DO NOT COME HERE. After waiting 5 plus hours and not getting seen, I left, and NEVER AGAIN!!!

If you enjoy waiting 4+ hours just to be seen and you enjoy being treated poorly then I highly recommend the GW Hospital Emergency Department!

Do you enjoy waiting in line for 5 hours? Is being neglected by the entire nursing staff something that you enjoy when you visit the ER? Well boy do I have the place for you! George Washington University ER has all of that in more! Not only was the wait time longer than expected, their entire system crashed and they kept me over night for what should have been a 2 hour visit. If you plan on coming to this ER, pack a suitcase! You’re gunna be here for a while!

Horrible experience. Came into the ER around 7 with a broken wrist waited for 3-4 hours. I asked front desk lady how much longer, she couldn’t give me a time. I ended up leaving, going home, and took some pain killers to get me through the night. Went to urgent care in the morning in Arlington. This place sucks.

Ive unfortunately had to go to the ER twice in the past 6 months. The first time I was bleeding excessively. I waited 3 hours to be seen and once I was seen, several doctors came to visit, and ask me the same questions I had already answered, and NO one was able to tell me why I was bleeding or how to stop it. They gave me some pads and some underwear and sent me home (after waiting for 3 more hours to be released). The next day I passed out and had to be taken to another ER to get three blood transfusions. Imagine my surprise when the bill from GW was higher than my whole hospital stay at the other place I went to.On the second visit, I had been having severely debilitating migraines that I had NEVER before experienced and mind you I received the J & J vaccine 10 days ago and was following the advice of a general doctor and you know the CDC and because I started to feel better after they gave me some nausea medicine and tylenol. They declared my visit and non emergency and sent me home but not before telling me I should see a neurologist. The whole point of coming in was so you could do those tests and scans but because I wasnt in enough pain and too young to risk doing an mri on (paraphrasing), they just sent me home. Please avoid at all costs if possible.

Came in with 911 due to sharp abdominal pain and they still made us wait for hours- if it wasn’t a real emergency I wouldn’t call 911- they said they triaged me and put me at the end of of the list- go somewhere else !

The ER is a nightmare. I waited for 5 hours, with full periods of 45 minutes between a single patient being called back. The staff was extremely rude and cold. Next time Ill be going to Howard.

It is the worst service and the worst medical attention that I have received. I dont think its possible that there is only one emergency doctor in this hospital. I do not know if you pay attention to this review but I still write it to see if someone does something

I had an awful experience here. My surgeon told me to go to the ER for immediate internal suture repair. When I got there I was told the wait would be a few hours. After over 3 hours of waiting, I asked for another time estimate and they said several hours more. The person next to me waited 11 hours before they were seen. The nurse who checked me in was beyond rude. The bathroom had pee on the floor and was disgusting. I have been to several ERs in my life, including in Central America, and have never had such a bad experience. After several hours of waiting I went to a different ER which was so much better and I got the help that I needed. I still got charged for an ER visit even though I never left the lobby, because the nurse asked me questions for less than 2 minutes. Ridiculous.

If I could give zero reviews I would. They honestly don’t care. I waited for hours in excruciating pain and ended up leaving after not seeing anyone. Just piling a bunch of us in the waiting room with no possible safety measures. Worst ER hospital ever.

Doctors are great but waiting 8 hours in the ER before you can be seen is unacceptable. Here is what to expect: wait 8 hours, see a doctor for 5 min, wait 2 hours for tests to be done, another few min with a doctor and you are sent home. For this you pay $4-5k.
