I went to Patient First on Sunday morning with a fever and unknown condition. I found the staff to professional and friendly. Yes, The wait time was long but given the number so folks that are seen and treated at this location I counted myself lucky to be the second person in the door. They did two COVID tests and the quick test was negative. It was determined that I was having the onset of shingles. They prescribed and anti-viral medication and I was on my way.Thank you doctors and staff - know you are appreciated.

I liked the care I received. I was seen within 10-15 minutes each time I visited. I do make it a point to arrive before they open to increase my chances of being seen more rapidly. The staff was very courteous and the physicians were very knowledgeable. I received better and more informative care at Patient First than I have with my on PCP in the past 5 years. I was so impressed with the service that I wanted to select Patient First as my new PCP but unfortunately my insurance doesn’t support that.

Took my fiance there after a work accident about a month ago. The wait was rather long but they were very busy so it was understandable. But the reason Im writing this was today i received mail from them, thinking it would be a bill for services and it wasnt. They actually mailed us an apology letter for the longer wait time and it was very appreciated. I e waited multiple hours at most doctors offices or things of that matter and never once received an apology for the wait. They staff was very friendly and helpful

I have been to the Holland Road location several times and those times my visits were highly satisfactory. I use Patient First for primary care temporarily until I can get to the top of a doctors practice waiting list. Mainly Ive just sought and received bridge prescriptions from this location to hold me over a few months until I can get into a psychiatric practice. My requests have been for several maintenance meds, and none of them are controlled substances. So last Sunday I came in for a prescription consultation and I was assigned to Dr./PA (or whatever) Phillip Granger. From the very first moment he came into the room I could tell that he was highly agitated. He yelled at me why are you here!. I told him for Primary Care and then he really started going off. He kept saying Who does the INSURANCE say is your primary care physician, over and over. I was so surprised and apparently too slow to respond, so he changed his question. He kept repeating in a loud voice What can I say no to today???, again repeating several times. I said I had one maintenance med, Zoloft, that I needed a short prescription for to get me through until my psychiatry appointment in December. He kept telling me Nope, we dont do that here. Patient First doesnt do Primary Care or psych meds -which are both listed in the paperwork for services Patient First DOES provide. The whole short visit was humiliating and I am extremely unhappy about my visit. I will NOT ever be returning to the Holland Rd Patient First ever again. I will always remember how I was treated there. Im actually also considering going to another medical clinic altogether such as Velocity. Rather than providing quality medical care for me, Philip Granger made me feel like a criminal at my visit.

I was in there for about three hours for a simple covid text . I got there at 6:45 and gave up at 9:30. I don’t know what method they got going on but it’s completely insufficient. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had in a urgent care . It’s a pandemic ! Get covid testers in and out man set something specifically up for walk in covid testing patients. Ridiculous “accepts walk ins my backend”

While the wait time was extreme, the organization of pre-registering, registering, and being seen was very organized and professional. Having the option of waiting in your vehicle during the wait times was great and allowed us to remain separated from other patients. From start to finish it took us four hours. It took us 1 hour and 20 minutes just to register him. However it was obvious this Center was extremely busy, very organized and professional, and that was very helpful. Also this Newtown Road Center was clean and sanitized. I did notice a few patients came in with a higher priority of breathing problems and they were seen first and I definitely can appreciate the attention the nurses in the front gave those patients. They had a higher priority and should definitely have been seen first. That was important to know that your staff are appropriately assessing patients as they come in.

It took nearly 3 hours to get a biometric screening for my job done. For those of you who dont know thats just weight, height, waist measurement, blood pressure, and a blood sample to measure a few things. They got it done and were polite and all. The actual time to get back there was only like 45 minutes. But once I was in a room, it took them the 2 hours to get my vitals and blood. The actual things done only took about 15 minutes. Were they to do them back to back instead of having me wait in a room for so long after bringing me back to do height and weight they could have got someone in there faster. It was kind of weird to be honest. I still give 3 stars because I get that it was busy and that everyone was trying their hardest, but it baffles me the weird wait time in between getting my weight and vitals and the blood work.

My son was taken to this facility by his grandmother for a physical. They called me to get consent and info. Of course he had to wait to be seen and they waited in the car to receive a phone call. So instead of calling my son phone number they called my number and I was not with him. Because I missed the phone call and they did not call his phone he had to wait longer to be seen. They need to work better with communicating properly. It is already hard enough to get an appointment to be seen in any facility and to not communicate effectively puts a lot of patients in binds. I hope they try to work on communicating more effectively.

Experience at this location was great until I got the bill for my yearly health screening that my insurance requires. Insurance has paid for the entire visit the past two years but was keyed differently this year which made it appear as I was getting blood work done on my own which my insurance did not cover. Despite submitting a ticket and providing the correct codes that should have been entered, 4 months later I received a past due notice as if nothing had been done.

At Patient first you can find new face mask rules that are unique, unscientific, and lacking common sense. After youre called an employee of Patient first brings me a blue face mask embraced in her BARE HAND like here put this on. Thats not sanitary. It was quite a few reasons for this post.1. My wait was 3 hours ( 8:30 pm - 11: 30). I still havent been seen. Not because it was crowded but because the doctor said she didnt know what my ailment was.( I was there for an ear ache.) I heard her tell one of the nurses she was saving me for last. Basically I say there 2 hrs extra for that reason alone.2. They had someone doing construction type work in the lobby while at least 8 to 10 people in the lobby. I saw chemicals and plaster materials(which cause dust) being used while patients were still in the lobby. Some people have allergies to certain things andthey didnt bother to ask. The staff nor the contractor.Never conning her again.

Your staff deserve a pay increase -- the waiting area was full capacity following COVID-19 guidelines. The STRESS takes a toll, especially caring for such a killer pandemic as COVID-19.I applauded them before I left.In 1975, in nursing school, we were taught those masks should be changed every 3 hours cause of germs from breathing through them. Also, the guidelines Ive seen on the news states 2 masks should be worn, but the N95 mask is the safest. Why hasnt the Board of Directors made provisions to protect their employees. Its the smart and RIGHT thing to do.They are putting their lives at RISK, so PROFITS/THE BOTTOM LINE IS IN THE BLACK. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME Despite the front desk check in staff being awesome and the nurse was very knowledgeable and polite the wait time and physician is the reason I will never return and I will be filing a complaint. I have a long standing history of strep throat I have a disabled child in my home so I try to be proactive because if he gets sick he can have seizures and is hospitalized so I had a strep test done and was told in less than 15 mins it was negative and even though the physician said my tonsils look severely infected the test was negative he refused to give me antibiotics or send the test off for further analysis which is what velocity sentara urgent care always do. I always have negative test that are sent off for further analysis and are positive. I didn’t go to velocity because they didn’t have any available Apts I have a long history of strep he seen how infected my tonsils was but wanted to rely on a test that he said wasn’t 100% he didn’t seem educated every time I stated something he would check the computer as if he wasn’t sure of anything then he printed papers on my bmi risk and prediabetes risk I didn’t ask or come there for that all my vitals were normal so that wasn’t necessary. He told me to return in 3 days which is probably why they wait time is ridiculous why not be proactive and prescribed antibiotics or send test for further analysis.

Some other patients have warned against Dr Shaghayegh Mirshahi, and I feel obligated to do similarly. I presented with a sinus infection, and prior to any evaluation, Dr Mirshahi enters the room explaining to me that she had just read an article on antibiotic resistance arising from the over-prescribing of anti-biotics. So, a single media article about a general issue entirely informed her standard of care about my specific situation. I tried making the point that if I wasn’t infected with a bacterial pathogen then there would be nothing in my system to develop resistance to an anti-biotic. She was unable to grasp that point. She also professed unawareness about Zithromax (azithomycin), one of the most commonly prescribed drugs. When asked where she went to medical school she told me “EVMS”. The state medical board informed me that she attended medical school in the Caribbean. Perhaps a little more time spent in class than on the beach would’ve allowed her to properly evaluate and treat patients.

Was not able to get into primary Dr office so went here for exam and Chest X-ray. Great to have Drs, lab, X-ray etc all in one facility. Meds prescribed and I’m better already. Thanks..

I was very sick with a fever and chills and coughing. I went to sentara urgent Care and they wouldnt even let me in the door. I then went to patient first on Newtown road and this staff of professionals are so kind and so caring they should give lessons on how to take care of people. I ended up with pneumonia which is good because I dont have covid. But they were thorough and carring in my care. I highly recommend them

Expect to be there for at least 90 minutes. The walls are thin so you can hear other people’s conversations/diagnosis from the rooms.

I was diagnosed with a UTI and am currently an inpatient at Sentara Heart Hospital where they are trying to get my A Fib under control...... youre lucky I dont sue you for malpractice. Oh , and cipro I was prescribed gave me such muscle soreness, I tried for 3 hours to speak to someone about changing it, which finally happened. Extremely disappointed that it took someone who complained about shortness of breath to be seen only to be misdiagnosed, but I did appreciate theNurse who followed me out of the facility when I couldnt breath telling me to calm down. You jeopardized my health and my well being, like I said, consider yourself lucky that Im not seeking legal advice. Thanks for the genuine compassion, I will try to tell my heart to calm down. What a joke. There are real people with real medical conditions in your waiting area. Perhaps a reminder to the staff that it is those very people whopay their salaries. Patient FIRST? Im lucky to be alive after a visit to your medical facility. Your staff jeopardized the life of me, God only knows how many others have been misdiagnosed. Take your role seriously and with a responsibility, without us, the helpless, you would be closed.

Dr. Olga Elliot is not like any other doctor around here. I feel like she is the old fashion health care provider where doctor actually looks deep at patients and address overall issues pros and cons even family issues that may effect my health.I think I will make dr. Olga Elliot my primary doctor. I need a doctor like her. I am so happy I find her.

Update: My family members and I all received letters from the President, CEO of Patient First. He apologized for the long wait on the day we were at Patient First for our Covid tests. Now that is a first! Even more impressed with Patient First now. We didn’t complain about the long wait, there were a lot of patients. We actually thought the staff was very efficient and handled the crowd well. The CEO was very thoughtful and considerate to write all of us a letter.Initial Review: Everyone was awesome from the time we walked in the door. Donna, Anderson, PA Habib and the nurse whose name we didn’t get. Excellent service all around. Highly recommend Patient First. Entire clinic was very clean. Masks and Hand sanitizer were offered.
