Worst hospital experience ever. Waited for 6 hours to get lab work and an ultrasound. Not clean, food and trash in ER lobby. Triage rooms not clean, blood stains on wall. Staff is not friendly… politely rude

YOU WILL DIE AT THIS HOSPITAL!!!! Negligent, Incompetent staff!!! My husband was brought in by ambulance for a heart attack. I watched him beg and cry in the hall for help! They sat with no urgency and watched! Once finally in a room, a rude nurse(Shannon comes in) What a backwoods redneck....how did this individual pass nursing school! After he stabilized, his IV bag that was still hung from the pole( no machine, the one from the ambulance ride 4 hours before) ran out and backed up...blood started backing all the way up in the IV line. I asked the nurse to please come change it, her response, I was giving report and had to hang up!!!. I would assume so! She then yanks the IV out and throws it behind the bed(blood and all). Next, the 4 south floor!!!! Wow, unprofessional! Nurse comes in and does a patient admit profile test. One of the questions; Do you have TB?.....No we said....she then goes on to tell us how her dad almost contracted TB from some Crack Head he worked with! Are you kidding me???? As a medical employee, everyone knows TB is not only contracted by drug use but, contaminated blood transfusions, visiting foreign countries. Most notable and deadly is when they had left on a Nitroglycerin patch almost 12 hours and I continued to watch his Blood pressure, which steadily dropped! I mentioned several times, should we take this patch off before it drops to low? No they said! At midnight, they came in and his BP was 83/53!!! I said, what? They girl taking the BP said, we are watching it! I said, you need to let me speak with the nurse!. The nurse comes in and says, that is low, I need to call the hospitalist! Guess what?....almost immediately, she comes in and rips the patch off! Its their job to monitor patients! Clearly they dont! If I wouldnt have been there, I can honestly say, his blood pressure, breathing would have continued to drop and no one would have noticed until it was too late!

I had the best experience last night with RN Monica & Dr. Stone (I think that’s his name). They were just amazing & my care was top notch. There was a bit of a wait for test results, but that’s expected. I’m so grateful for them.

Simply DISGUSTING. My father tried asking nurses repeatedly to please clean up the trash spilling from the can onto the floor of his room. The sink was stuffed with some random persons clothing and the room smelt of urine and body odor. No one did anything until I, sitting at home unable to physically slam my hand on the nurses station and demand better treatment, called and berated them for their lax sense of health/safety when it comes to their patients. Even if I was on deaths door, I would NEVER let the lazy staff of this so called hospital touch me.

Had a great experience at the ER. Brought my daughter in thinking she might had the flu. Not a very long wait at all. Very professional and knowledgeable staff. Had Allison vedas as our nurse and she was wonderful! She made my daughter feel comfortable being in a hospital. Turns out she did have the flu. At least we had a great knowledgeable and professional nurse like Allison to help us!

This is specifically for the physician that my husband had the displeasure of encountering at SGMC Emergency Room, Keegan Anne Michel, MD. My husband was brought to the emergency department 1/17/20 via ambulance for syncope and severe back pain after a fall. He has a significant history of cardiac issues, including being pacemaker dependent. The physician had the audacity to say my husband was just seeking pain medication, and furthermore his heart issues were probably from him doing drugs. To clarify- he does not take any medications for pain on a regular basis and has no history of drug use, he does not even drink alcohol. Also, that there is no such thing as dysautonomia, which is a condition in which the autonomic nervous system (ANS) does not work properly, that we go to Massachusetts General Hospital yearly for check ups for. But I digress. He was eventually discharged and there were no tests preformed to check for fractures, or to see why he passed out in the first place. He was given instructions on stretching though... Im sad to say I work at this hospital and would not come to this ER.

Thanks to Dr. Jared Sanders and Dr. Heather Tolbert in the ICU, my husband is alive today. Dr. Sanders in the ER accurately diagnosed that my husband had an abscessed liver, bacteremia and was septic. He required immediate surgery to remove the abscess. His kidneys have failed and his liver was nonfunctional. The entire ER docs and staff were attentive and prompt. We moved to the ICU post surgery and were attended by Dr.Tolbert, and the ID Doctor Guillermo Saurina. Both of these physicians were extraordinary in the care and proactive assessments they provided. My husband required multiple blood products and extensive continuous dialysis. Drs. Tolbert and Saurina were acutely aware of the need to life flight my husband to a hospital that could provide these items. Without their compassion and professionalism and the desire to safe a life, my husband would not have survived. We are now in our third week at Emory hospital in Atlanta and my husband is recovering slowly but surely. Without these fine physicians, South Georgia Medical Center would be at a disadvantage. Locals and visitors alike should embrace the hospital and its fine nursing staff and understand that a small town hospital can provide quality, compassionate care in a professional environment.

Staff was inattentive. Man came in claiming someone needed help outside(he was having a seizure) and staff waited about 10 minutes before even looking to see what the situation was. We waited about 5 minutes to be seen in triage and then 4 hours to be seen to do blood work. When I was finally called back for blood work, the called me by the wrong name and wondered why I didn’t come when they were calling. After getting blood work I waited another hour to get a room where the nurse practitioner came in and immediately diagnosed me saying I was fine. I asked to speak to the doctor and she came back with an attitude and completely disrespected me. She had the worst bedside manner and wasn’t interested in the pain I was feeling. All in all SGMC is slow, rude, inattentive and only cares about making money off of unnecessary lab work.

You should make sure that you are prepared to meet Your Maker before you arrive here. This could likely be the last place you ever see in this life. There was a guy literally vomiting his bloody guts out while sitting in the waiting room. While we waited for someone to die so that my friend could get a bed, there was a little hoodified record hop going on in other parts of the same lobby. The tech slammed my friend into the lab’s door jam repeatedly further exacerbating her condition. If you can live through the night, wait to see your doctor in the morning. You have been warned. Please do not come to this ER.

Do I even have to give this crappy Hospital a one star? They don’t even deserve that. If you want to be treated like what you came in feeling like then go ahead and see them. They are so very inconsiderate and rude. My daughter is a student in college there and has had to go twice. Both times they treated her like trash. First visit she never seen a dr. The assistants diagnosed her and told her nothing was wrong with her. She seen a specialist after the fact to be diagnosed with a fractured foot that has caused long term problems. This second go around again has told her she has nothing wrong with her and gave her a prescrption for crutches told her if insurance didn’t cover them to go buy some. And watched her as she was carried out the ER in tears because she couldn’t even walk. No meds were given or NOTHING. Can’t even believe they can operate like this. They sure didn’t mind sending a large bill for nothing to my insurance company. They are seriously a BIG JOKE. Please find another hospital to go to don’t bother with them they are ridiculous. So sad the way they treat a human being. Shut them down!!!

Staff is not focused on their job or patient/task at hand! Sloppy work, inconsistent processes/procedures, lack of attention, negative attitudes prevail. Triage was distracted with people coming in and out and missing paperwork, they loggged incorrect data about me because of these distractions...I do want to compliment a male nurse that hooked me up to a heart monitor, but unfortunately passed me onto an end of shift nurse who had a smile, but really lacking consistency and timeliness in care. The ER doc seemed knowledgeable and professional, but saw him for 3 minutes. The other several hours were spent in a freezing ER room hooked to monitors without anyone there, in a cotton gown freezing! Staff wearing long underwear and jackets, but not even attentive enough to p,ace a blanket on patients. First ER room I was put in, they told me to sit on the exam table...it was not cleaned from prior patient! Blood and needle covers on the sheet and some unknown body fluids that I had to point out to them! They were annoyed.... 2nd room had clean exam table, but blood and used tissues in the floor, wall splattered with “something”. Could not wait to get out of there! Thank goodness it was a false alarm which could have been life threatening! I would not want to end up there again. My extra blood sample was lost, so had to donate 5 viles, urine sample was not “scanned”. (Meaning it went to the lab not tied to proper patient.). This place needs ongoing auditing and process improvement attention! Show some pride in your professions people!

I came in after being sick for several days, looking online I was prepared to wait for hours... This was NOT the case- I came in bout 8am & was immediately seen and passed thru to a room quickly- when I was released in the afternoon, the waiting room however was quiet the opposite (very busy w a lot of people waiting) ... It seems as though it is all about timing.

Brought my wife in with chest pains, shortness of breath an a BP ranging from 183/111 to 162/92 (they call you back to triage every 3 or 4 hours to recheck). An leave you in waiting room. They are too small of an ER to support this area. They also always have the excuse of being short on doctors. This is exactly what was predicted to happen when the State allowed them to purchase the only other hospital an close its ER, etc.Hospital admin should all be fired an at this rate I guess if its an emergency we need to drive to Tifton or Thomasville. Or deal with things until doctor office opens in the morning, which is what we are leaving to do now.

This hospital does plenty of testing. But they are rude and inconsiderate. The doctor talked over me. Before I answered the question the doctor asked me he turned to the nurse and said I was wrong. I went in with migraine through my neck down to chest pain and into my stomach with nausea. He diagnosed me with indigestion and muscle pain. They gave me a gi cocktail and tylenol. I asked for a pillow. They said we dont have any. I was there 6 hours. I finally had a hospitable nurse pop in. I asked for at least a blanket. She obliged. The ambulance was just as bad. They walked in the house with their arms crossed. Whats going on. I asked them to assess me to see if I needed to go. They said no we can only do that in the truck and once your in there you have to go. It took them a good 15 or more miniutes to pull out. I asked why they hadnt left yet. Oh we cant move till we get done. I said what if I was having a heart attack? They said the same thing as if your at the hospital. Were not just ambulance drivers. This is THE WORST hospital Ive ever been to. All rude and unprofessional.
