Smith Dental is amazing! They staff is very aware of my high functioning Anxiety. Even though I’m extremely tense, short with answering & overall a hot mess they go well out of their way to help me get through the appointment. I know I’m a lot to deal with when I get that way, but the staff is just incredible. When I’m there I know it may seem I’m not thankful, but silently I AM. Im thankful for every single person I come in contact with more than I could ever explain.

I have never really had a warm fuzzy when having to go to any dentist. When we moved to Tyler we found this clinic on line and we made appointments. There is such a warm, friendly feeling when you first walk in the door. That was seven years ago and we still feel the same way about the dentists and especially all the staff!! My husband says when he needs a “feel good” moment, he can just come to the dentist!!

Smith Dental Care has always been very considerate of my phobias about dentist. I have more than a few bad experiences with dentist, not only with pain but also with their belittling me and/ or shaming me about the condition of my teeth. It wound up being so bad I could not enter a dentist office without having a panic attack or crying uncontrollably.Smith Dental staff treated me with kid gloves and never made me feel insecure. They offered sedation dentistry which was vital for my peace of mind and my panic/ crying issues. Thank God they are as caring and professional as they are. Im terrified of the thought of going elsewhere for Dental care. I do not live in Tyler... and would drive almost any distance to keep them as my choice for Dental care. Dr. Joe and Assistant Kim are the BEST! I had jaw surgery 20 years ago leaving me with a unique jaw. I needed upper dentures and had difficulty get a denture to fit properly. Dr. Joe and Kim were understanding and took the time to get a proper fit. Your go to Dentist, the whole staff is great.

I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled and was really nervous. After seeing their commercial I felt a peace in my heart. I called and got an appt for consultation. I was treated with nothing but respect from the time I walked in the door. I told them my fear and concerns and they were very kind. Needless to say I had my tooth removed with sedation 2 days later. I was amazed as to how smoothly it went, I was in and out in what seems like minutes! Wow, no problem, no pain. Thank you Smith Dental for making me welcome and comfortable!

Went for something on my teeth. Been a few times. Service was fine. I always paid my bill when finished with service. I did the same the last time i went and obtained a receipt. Got a bill a few days later stating i owed more money. Called and spoke with them a few times and they apologized as it was their mistake. Though it was their mistake, they have reported it to collections and have been damaging my credit and refuse to remove it. Bad business practice if you ask me

The hygienist was very gentle, yet thorough. The dentist took the time to inform me about the health of my teeth and answered any questions I had. It was the most thorough exam that I have ever had done by a dentist office. They actually took the time to show me pictures (not X-rays, actual pictures) of my teeth so that I could see the damage that needed to be addressed. They answered all my questions; and I felt that they evaluated my teeth and their condition on a proactive approach. Looking forward to getting the work done!

Very great care! I was a self pay patient at the time, and Dr. Douglas and staff took extreme care to treat my condition. He even told me that if the treatment plan required a follow up, that they wouldn’t charge me for the additional evaluation, but to make sure that it works and to let them know.

The dental offices setting is like walking into a beautiful home. The waiting area has a fire place running on the cold mornings and we have had quite a few this year. The front desk is all smiles and the dentist and assistant are the best and the most professional. I told them not too long ago I sometimes feel like a walking billboard for them because I have told so many people have great they are. Smith Dental will be hard to beat.

The kindness, expertise and compassion shown to my 87 year old mom was beyond measure. Dr. Smith and Kim explained everything in precise detail speaking directly to her so she understood every detail in the process. Dr. Smith provided us a very relaxed atmosphere; answering all our 500 questions with a genuine smile. Our experience gave us both a renewed spirit in these times of gloom and doom (post COVID). That’s just the beginning! When mom finally got to see the end result, her beautiful smile said it all; we were both in awe at how natural and perfect they looked (btw Kim is an artist)! My two adult sons have fragile x syndrome, which means they have moderate mental retardation. Going to the dentist requires anesthesia, even for a simple cleaning. Dr Douglas and the whole crew at Smith Dental are amazing, kind, thorough and understanding.And they sedate right at their office. No scary hospital or outpatient setting to death with!If you have a loved one with special needs that requires sedation, make their next appointment at Smith Dental! You will not be disappointed.

Schedulers are not clear or do not tell patients Smith dental is private pay only and prefer not to accept pvt insurance.The spirit of the work place was judgmental of certain people, as if “better than some others”. While it has a home like feeling, Its not a dental office for the “general public”. I would not recommend no person of all socio-economic class to Smith Dental.The Hygienist Kimberly begin cleaning my teeth without offering me options 1st, she notice my discomfort(as he scraped my bear teeth) and then offered other cleaning option which was what I was use to from my dentist office I went to for years until my dentist moved on to practice elsewhere, since last year.I felt uncomfortable during my cleaning, other workers were stoping by to watch, interrupted conversation I had, with the hygienist, that help ease some of my feeling of “ just wanting to hurry up and hygienist be done with my cleaning, so I can leave”, little did I know, I would be confronted with what should have been made aware of when appointment was scheduled by schedule coordinator or when the “chipper” blond haired lady check me in.My experience there made me really be grateful of other above exceptional offices I’m aware of, the schedulers phone reps are honest, clear about services/payments, and when u go inside the office you feel nothing but non judgemental acceptance and respect.I choose Smith Dental out of many and now I wish I had not. Well we live and learn, even before my appointment I ask two well off financial individuals if they new about Smith Dental and they said “ yes and it only took me one time to go and I will never go back”.I over looked their comment, knowing that all experiences are unique at times with respect to my friends. Now I understand why they feel they way they do.

I had a crown break. Smith Dental got me in immediately. Dr. Joe determined that I needed a root canal and sent me to an endodontist. I am so impressed that both dentists got me in immediately and in one day I had the root canal and a temporary crown put in place. Im so impressed with Smith Dental and Dr. Joe Smith.

I was super nervous when I walked in the office but by mid visit, every staff there had made me feel super comfortable with such a warm invite. This will be my home for all of my dental needs moving forward.

I will not be returning to this place. They were going to charge my husband $1,000 to deep clean his teeth because of tarter build up under the gum line, when he had just had his teeth cleaned elsewhere 1 1/2 years ago. No cavities on the x-rays. He went to a different dentist who showed zero signs of tarter build up under the gum line, but found he had an infected tooth. Why didnt Smith dental see this? They must not care about the patients health, only $$$$. Shame on this company for being dishonest. Zero stars was available.

Went in for a 2nd opinion for a pair of dentures that were unsatisfactory to me.I received the best of care, very professional, and informative about what to do next. So disappointed Smith Dental is not in network with United Health Care. Should Be!

Smith Dental was able to get us in quite quickly after we had complications with another dentist. They evaluated my son and recommended a specialist. It was a good thing they did as the specialist found some things that needed to be taken care of immediately. They explained everything so that both me and my 15 year old son could understand. We will be going to Smith from now on.

I needed to find a new dentist after recently relocating to Texas. I always turn to Google and Yelp to help me decide on these types of things. I was extremely impressed by the wonderful reviews for this office, so I booked an appointment for my youngest son for a routine checkup and cleaning. This dental office is far superior to any that Ive ever been to. From start to finish, this place was incredible. From the front office staff, to the assistants, to the the hygienist, to the dentist, start to finish absolutely incredible. The quality of care is exceptional. The entire staff is extremely kind and caring, and the entire office is immaculately clean. They took such great care of my son. Currently my husband and I do not have dental insurance for ourselves, and when we were leaving I asked about out of pocket costs for a cleaning and check up. I was completely shocked at how affordable their prices are, especially for such a regal and professional establishment. So happy we came here, and we will continue to come here for years to come.

I inquired , if they have an open slot today at around 9:45 am, but the earliest will be in 4 days. Gretchen asked what was the problem, and I told her that my son’s front tooth broke . She put me on hold to ask the dentist if they can do it since she believed it was an emergency. I was happy and I told her about my son’s concern going to school with a broken tooth. After a while, she told me the good news that I can come in as early as 10 am . We got that fixed and was grateful for accommodating us ASAP. Awesome staffs and Dentist. They are always very courteous and genuinely address all of my concerns, really taking my “dental anxiety” into consideration. They are out of network for me, so it does cost me more to go there. That said, it’s worth every penny. From check-in, to the hygienists and the dentists, everyone makes you feel comfortable and does a great job. I highly recommend them.

Everything was great! I showed up earlier than my appointment and was greeted and taken care of and was called to the back for my teeth cleaning in just a few short minutes. All the staff were kind and professional. My teeth cleaning experience was great as well. Zero complaints and I would recommend this place to anyone. I will be back for my next appointment for sure!

No better place to receive treatment for teeth.The people, staff, and dental personnel are top notch-professional. The environment is clean. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. If you need dental work or care, you need SDC. It is like a spa for your teeth and gums!

I had been having tooth pain for a couple of days and it all came to a head today, Friday.. I called several dental offices early morning trying to find anyone to help me or have mercy on me, all said Monday morning was the soonest. Then I remembered my son had been to Smith dental before and liked it, so I crossed my fingers and called. They were so polite and gracious on the phone, they moved times around and got me in that day. What a blessing! Turns out I have an abscess and absolutely needed antibiotics. Dr. Douglas was friendly and informative, and got me headed in the right direction to healing. Thankful to have found Smith Dental!

I initially went to Smith Dental because my niece was employed there; but keep going there because of the experiences that I have, personally and professionally. Above and beyond top notch care... would not dare trust anyplace else to touch my mouth. I love my teeth and dental health.

I dont think Ive ever had a bad visit here, nor do I think I will. Everyone is always so kind, and everything is always explained out (which doesnt matter much to me, but I can see it being helpful/appreciated by the older patients). Always the first choice to me for dental related anything.

They are great! They’ve always done excellent work. The dentist will even call to check on you after having dental work done. They are the best.
