They dont take appointments for intake. You have to call each morning to hope the Codac gods will see you. I called Cope and have an appointment next week. Codac is very nonchalant about mental illness and life or death medications. Kudos to those that truly care but the people who run this place dont. They responded by saying that usually they can see you that day and if not they schedule you for the next day. Like an appointment? JUST DO APPOINTMENTS like every other business in the country. Its like they are exempt from providing reasonable accommodations. Maybe I should contact ADA

As of 6/23/2021 still refusing in person appointments, even for seeing the doctor.- Intake is only 1 hour, or less.- No flexibility for treatment options; you will assisted toward a different provider if their cookie-cutter program doesnt work for you.- Getting labs done, I watched an entire staff of psychiatrists, security guards, office personnel, and other patients chit-chat casually about patient issues, while standing in a circle in the lobby, with the patient they were speaking about in the next room.- The nurse I spoke to about it said it happens so frequently that she actually feels like the office pariah any time she mentions it. She said it might help to report it, and said someone would get back with me.- No one got back with me. I called 3 times to make sure it got reported and when I finally got ahold of someone they said, dont worry about it, its taken care of. No I dont know if this happens frequently, I dont work at that site.- Therapist have a very difficult time maintaining that patients in group therapy dont gossip about each other outside of group.- A guest speaker for group opened my file and just started reading out loud from it, in group, in front of me. Then proceeded to brag about how many famous people and politicians he has treated, personally, through this program.- Concerns brought to my case manager were often diminished or ignored. Check-Ins with my case manager always seemed like a chore to them.- Time with individual therapists is impersonal. Often times it seemed they didnt even know who they were talking to, they just presented a pre-set lesson based on information in your chart. Requests for more time were denied by CODAC personnel, without even applying to insurance or considering patient needs/circumstances.- Specialty resources like job-seeking-assistance are influenced by gossip and multiple therapists input; so much so that the goal of finding a job that works for you and allows you to want to work turns into, here is what we think is best for you, even though we dont really know you, hope it doesnt make you want to kill yourself that we dont actually care what you want!- Finally had enough when I had a family emergency, didnt feel comfortable asking my therapist for more time yet again, realized I needed to talk to my case manager because of this, and didnt get a response within 48 hours when the policy is 24.- Got a call back within 24 hours of requesting a stop service to be told, I will talk to my manager to see if this is the correct course of action. LOLThis program might be good for you if you are struggling with addiction, are so out of control of your life that you really have no idea what you are doing, or you really have no plans to get better, but Im going to therapy sounds good to be able to say. Also, if you dont mind that the office politics and atmosphere are the equivalent to TV dramas of high school classrooms. If you are looking to track real change that you are making in your own life, I recommend something else as CODAC will have a hard time accommodating anything that isnt on the flowchart of pre-determined responses.

Ive been a patient at CODAC for about 17 years. I love it here. The counsellors are great if you find someone thats a good fit for you (I personally recommend Dawn Crawford-Rogers, shes a personal counsellor and has many years as an addiction specialist). I also recommend Laura Davidson as a NP, shes kind and understanding... You just have to get to the point with your issues when you see your doc or NP because they do rush through your appt. ...but that happens with most doctors anywhere-theyre just really busy. Sometimes theres a long wait to see your doc or NP-not always but they have so many clients theyre usually running behind. So bring a book or your phone and a snack! This is the last government funded mental health facility in Tucson that still prescribes benzodiazepines, however you only get them if you really need them, and currently are weaning people off them; but the *right* way. They offer many different groups here, from early recovery to depression to CBT. Just be honest with them so they can figure out the right meds for you (personally I dont think they work too well-they just keep me from committing suicide). The front desk staff are really, really nice. TheyreT always friendly. If youre nice and respectful to all the staff, they treat you the same. TheresT always security outside so if therest any problems or altercations theyre there to help. Ive been to COPE, Assurance and La Frontera for a short time and CODAC is by far the best. I strongly recommend coming here either for you or a loved one. The waiting room is big and so is the parking lot, theres wheelchair accessible parking and for the front door. Theyre located right off the bus line at 5th and Alvernon so thats convenient too. They also have an on-site pharmacy here (QoL) where you can fill your medications from 8am-5pm. You cancget all your medications filled there even if theyre not prescribed by CODAC so its one stop shopping and they make it very convenient. All the ladies that work in the pharmacy are friendly and helpful too. an main area is open from 7am-6pm. CODAC is a wonderful place.

Yes I agree that the front desk was really hectic. I stood there in front of a young girl waiting for her to acknowledge me but she was busy with another girl behind the desk laughing about personal business. But another lady called me and took great care of me. This was my first visit. I give it a rank 5 because the doctor was very nice. He listened to me and tried something new. He took his time and didn’t rush me. So I thank him for that. Because I been to clinics where you talk to monitor (which is very uncomfortable) and psychologist that said here take this and never listened. So we will see how it goes! Hopefully good!

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, your health and safety are our top priority. CODAC has implemented a plan to limit the spread of COVID-19.This is simply not true, I fully understand this pandemic has been extremely hard on everyone. Even more so on the medical side of things. However its been months since I last spoke with my provider and after three weeks of me trying to get into contact with her nurse (I gave up about a month ago). No call backs, and zero refills on my meds. Not only did they fail to fill my meds the last two visits (despite me calling every week for awhile), the pharmacy cant even get in contact with them. I mean that I actually received a message from my pharmacy telling me they cannot get in contact with my doctor. Which is unheard of to me. I honestly wasnt sure they were even open at this point.Ive been a patient of theirs for over ten years, and Ive finally switched from them to a different provider. Im glad I realized CODAC werent going to help me, if I hadnt changed then I would have been left without any medications and probably would have been sent to a hospital. In these rather difficult and unusual times I wouldnt suggest going here.

This place doesn’t deserve even 1 Star! A patient called for an emergency crisis due to an adverse reaction to meds and no call back! A call was placed daily for almost a month! Insurance called, pharmacy faxed to call patient ASAP and still NO call back insurance told patient to call Primary Care and sent an unrelated provider to help. Absolutely unacceptable abandonment of patient!

We accidentally walked into this facility (rather than the correct doctors office next door). The four women behind the counter are horrible at customer service. Rude. I was angry instantly by the young lady that helped us. I can’t imagine being a customer here. I’m filing this complaint on behalf of the people that actually have to use this facility. Your customer experience is horrible. Get some training in humanity.

Over the last several months, this clinic has become a dysfunctional nightmare. My doctor of ten years, who was outstanding in every way, moved out of state. The guy who replaced her is nothing but a cold, impersonal face on a TV screen who treats his patients like a drive-through fast food order. He does what HE thinks is best even when what he is doing is not working. After my last appointment, it took several weeks for my prescription to be called into the pharmacy even though I called them over and over and over to resolve the issue. I went through a period of insomnia and withdrawal symptoms while I waited for it. Even a call to the Solution Zone did not work. As a matter of fact, even a letter to the Medical Director availed nothing as I never heard back from him.As if this were not bad enough, I called CODAC several times today because I wanted to make an appointment with my care manager. Nobody answered the phone.... ALL DAY!I am convinced that CODAC and some of its doctors would benefit tremendously from a malpractice lawsuit. They are too used to getting away with such incompetence because most of their patients do not have the financial resources to sue them. I, however, am not one of them.

If youre willing to get help, theyll be there for you.Youve heard this before...they are understaffed. Codac does wonders, even though they are receiving less money.Jessica, Dr. Steven Bupp, Andrea, Kayla...so many hardworking people who are there because they truly care about us.( I know Im missing many names)Thank God for people like them.

Ive been going to this facility for years and theyve bent over backwards for me. The people I deal with are an absolute delight, but there are some rude staff, usually medical assistants filling in for other medical assistants. And being overwhelmed at work at times, I can understand that.. But it doesnt negate that positive impact this facility has had on my life. Dont be scared away by rude staff mentioned in other reviews because at the end of the day, if your in honest trouble or in a crisis, theres no better place to me. Five Stars.

Do you like it when you have an urgent need to talk to a human being who could fix your problem in two minutes, but you cant get past the front desk? Do you like to be passed around like a hot potato from voicemail to voicemail, but nobody ever returns your calls?Do you like to go several days without your meds and experiencing withdrawal symptoms because your doctors medical assistant didnt fax your prescriptions over to the pharmacy?Do you like it when you need your doctor to fill out a reasonable accommodation form so you can take your companion animal with you to your new apartment, but her medical assistant wont even give her the paperwork, and so you have to move without your furry friend?Do you like it when someone who has a little authority abuses it in a big way, and then they talk down to you when you stand up for your rights?Do you like it when they always blame their screw ups on YOU, the patient, even though you had NOTHING to do with them?If so, welcome to CODAC!

I have severe depression and Codac on Alvernon just exacerbated my condition. This place tossed me around from therapist to therapist until I finally got comfortable with Misty. I saw Misty for about 6 months and then she started cancelling my appts. Ive never been treated so badly from a mental health office. I felt like she hated me or like I did something wrong. Maybe I just wasnt good enough. I wanted to die after going here. I had to leave Tucson and moved to Colorado so I could get some real help. They even gave my son the run around and hes only 10 years old. Go somewhere else. Best advice if on medicaid in Tucson...MOVE!

This place is horrible. At first I thought they were lovely.1) Its a huge pain to become a client. You have to show up at 6:30 am to be seen by an assessor then go through that hour long process. AND they only have a certain number of spots and its first come first served.2) You then are able to make an appointment with a provider.Things were great for a while. My provider was awesome, and my PCP was in the building next door. Then I ran out of meds, called, no response, called again...A month went by. I WAS GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWLS OF MY MEDS!!I call and finally get a hold of someone, Oh you got dropped as a client. WHAT??!!So I gave them all my info again and weeks went by with no response...Just called them today because I faxed over some paperwork that I needed filled out. They didnt get the paperwork despite me having a fax confirmation.Yea, go somewhere else.

I have been coming here for 11+ years. The new front desk staff at the Alvernon location is horrible! The rudest group of girls who do NOT like to respond when people say hi or how is your day. I have been sitting in the lobby for the second time in one day waiting just to be checked in for well over 40 minutes. Signs everywhere say wait 15. They are talking about their shoes and weekend updates right now. I have tried 3 times to update my phone number which is apparently really really complicated. I almost missed my appointment because they didnt check me in. Im sick of this place, really just the lazy front desk staff.

The staff here are extremely rude. I have been trying to get disability paperwork filled out and its excuse after excuse. Then a medical assistant has the nerve to tell me she doesnt care if I lose my job because I wasnt able to turn in my paperwork. Then they want me to wait another month and a half to get that paperwork because item were changed on it acting like it was my fault when I havent had the paperwork in my hands for over a week. It is ridiculous. This lady should be fired for how rude she was to me. On top of that everyone in the lobby could hear what she was saying to me and so everyone was looking at me.

Getting the initial appointment was a 2 month wait. Then we were given a prescription that was new on the market with no generic and completely un-affordable. When I called to ask for an alternative (multiple phone calls and unreturned voicemails), it took a week before someone actually got back to me and provided a solution. Things went well for a few months and getting meds was easy. Then there was a change in Doctor and now my daughter has been out of her depression medication for over a week and I cant get anyone to help me. I have called multiple times over the past 2 weeks to request a refill order be sent to the pharmacy and I have not received a call back or the order to the pharmacy. I have contacted the pharmacy multiple times during this time frame and they have also sent in 5 refill requests but they also havent gotten a response. I came to this place to get mental medical attention for my daughter and after these ordeals, I feel as though I need mental help. I can not find anyone here to take accountability or ownership over these issues. When I call, I speak to their first line of defense they always take a message for the medical assistant, but thats the most they do to help. I even asked for the extension number to the medical assistant but apparently they are not allowed to give that out. It should not be so hard to get behavioral health help, I cant imagine how the patients who do not have an advocate calling and working on their behalf continue to work with this place. I will be finding a new provider for my daughter. It is completely irresponsible for a behavioral health provider to make their patients beg for their prescriptions. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this location to anyone who truly needs psychiatric help.

Just like many of the Codac sites in Tucson, this site has a lot of problems with ridiculously long wait times... I was told to arrive 10mins before noon to see someone, I checked in at 11:45. I could finally leave the place at 15:30.... I Hated it and so do most of the other clients.. But! Despite the long wait times, its almost never actually the fault of the staff, they have a very large volume of people to serve and always can be seen working with someone. So try not to get nasty 5.5./ snotty mad at the receptionist when a 30 min doctors appointment ends up consuming 4 hours of your day. Trust me anything unqiue, cutting, or shocking you can think of, they have heard it before.

I switched from Codac to Assurant about a month ago and I could not be happier with the move. The fact that at 600 pounds and offering people who quit smoking free cigarettes, bragging about Eating and getting laid during sessions, lying to his clients (later discovered by Assurant and a landlord he was lying in a regular basis and ruining clients cases/lives)...Its a miracle recovery coach John McGurt still has a job at Codac or in any behavioral health faculty. Which is why I left Codac. The ineptitude, dishonestly, malicious, jealous treatment doled out by 600 pound recovery John McGurt is remarkable. He needs his own recovery coach. Not to be paid to be one costing clients money and lying about almost everything significant.6 good years at Codac completely ruined by that one inept, crooked employee who still manages clients there. Yes. One bad apple can ruin a bunch and at 600 pounds McGurt is one huge apple who ruins the good work and efforts of many...

I am grateful to receive services at CODAC for a mh issue. I do not see a psychiatrist (although when I called, that is what I was expecting). I see another acceptable mh counselor. My previous private psychiatrist retired, who was absolutely wonderful, and I came to CODAC for that reason. My complete history has been presented to the mh counselor. The style of care is very different. Not as warm and comforting. I receive my medication perfectly prescribed to suit my mh needs. I find CODAC to be three and a half stars.

I have been going here for years. Ive also tried Cope. Honestly Ill always come back to Codac. Beth is an awesome practitioner, as is Laura. My husbands former doc, also through Codac, helped us get his SSDI. They had his medical records ready to go in 2 days! Theyve given assistance with paperwork whenever weve needed. The best thing to remember is that this facility works with the mentally ill, as well as people with addictions. There will be times when a doctor is a little behind so you may have to wait. They are late sometimes because they do care. I absolutely recommend people go here. As long as I live here in AZ thisll be my place.

Recovery Coach John McGurt this Codac location not only failed to help, McGurt and this Codac location have lied to me repeatedly to cover their own mistakes which happen every time case manager John McGurt makes a decision. So Codac doesnt help lives Codac and McGurt attwmpt to ruin lives.I made the mistake of staying in the Codac queu when my recovery coach was switched to the roughly 500 pound John McGurt when I was hospitalized at Banner South for a week and I was having $210 stolen by staff from my personall belongings by Banner South 2 east about 2 months ago. At that time I while being robbed by staff at Banner that I reached out to Codac where I asked about housing ideas. After leaving Banner I either needed to stay in hotels for a bit, find another apartment on my own, or get some ideas from Codac on housing. At that time in recovery Codac and Codac recovery coach John McGurt (who needs his own recovery coach, because he is a liar, he weighs close to 500 pounds, he smokes, and brags about sex he doesnt have to his clients) came to my help by suggesting I live in one of the worst apartment complexes I ever saw anywhere- Eucalyptus Village likely John suggested this to ruin my recovery. John will not request referalls or anything else either. He just like the bowling and eating groups which he talks a lot about IF I agreed to sign off on an expensive payee service I didnt need. John and Codac then took my signature to sign up for payee and John and Codac never helped pay a penny they promised to help with. Leaving my monthly income short of being able to pay my bills because of the monthly payee fees. John and Codac lied to me made every wrong decision possible for me and left me and my landlady on the hook for over $1800 they PROMISED WITH VOUCHERS TO PAY.CODAK AND JOHN MCGURT RUINING LIVES...Anyways. I did some house searching on my own in recovery and found a great place to livebwithout recovery coach McGurt even knowing where the new apartment I found was. And John McGurt immediately took credit for me finding my new home. John McGurt recovery coach then promised myself and Beverly my landlady that Codac would assist my move and recovery by having Codac pay first month rent, last month rent, and security deposit.Place I found was 3 times as big as what John and Codac found me.At every turn at every decision Codac and especially the morbidly obese John McGurt has made my life drastically worse. No enemy I ever had has done this much damage in my life.

This place is the reason why any human being struggling with an illness that they did not ever ask for is stigmatized. Places like this dont give anyone hope and dont help people.
