I absolutely love the whole experience here. Dr. Thomas is amazing. My son has down sensory therapy it has shifted his focus a total 180, he can write legibly, understand math and his speech has improved markedly. It used to be we couldn’t always understand him and now he’s crystal clear. I highly recommend not only checking into vision therapy but sensory therapy WOW!

We had a stellar experience with at Arizona Vision Therapy! My son was apprehensive about going at first since the regular eye doctor is never a pleasant experience for him, but his assessment was fun and engaging, and the equipment was some of the coolest Ive ever seen. Our technician was outstanding in every sense of the word! She was knowledgeable, kind, playful, focused, and so, so patient. I cant say enough good things, and look forward to seeing them in the future!

Dr Thomas is essentially teaching my brain and eyes to work together again after traumatic brain injuries of various kinds. I can read my phone and computer again and my attention is so much better than a year or so ago when I started seeing her. I cannot recommend Dr Thomas enough!

This place is AMAZING! I’d been experiencing a range of apparently random, weird little problems like not being able to read comfortably, I could easily count crochet stitches along rows but not be able to track when I tried counting rows, having trouble finding words, felt insecure about my peripheral vision and depth perception when driving, etc. A friend of mine was in town and told me about them helping her with some vision issues caused by a severe concussion, and as soon as she told me I “knew” I was supposed to check them out.Wow! The computer testing proved that I wasn’t imagining any of it, *every single thing* I was experiencing showed up in the tests! A few more things that I’d forgotten to mention (because I had no idea they were related and I don’t remember seeing them on any of the paperwork) came up today, like me recently being unusually emotionally reactive and feeling insecure stepping down (stairs, curbs, out of the car), and Dr Penrod explained them to me in the context of my treatment.I’m still early on in the process, but am feeling extremely hopeful. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because of some issues my friend and I both had with the fitting of our glasses/them making sure we had the right added bits, we felt like we fell through the cracks a bit.

Wow. This place exceeded all expectations and I had high hopes going into the appointment. I suffer from some neurological issues and have had constant headaches since 2015. Dr. Thomas was able to see and diagnose things that no other doctor could do. Who thought that after 80 MD’s it would be an optometrist in Tucson that would be the most helpful and insightful. Amy is a gem of a woman. I’m optimistic about where my health is headed after visiting this clinic. Thank you AVTC and Dr. Ackerley for sending me here.

Amy and her team of amazing individuals provide the upmost compassionate care. I am so grateful for the complete wholistic vision examination with her components addressing the visual processing issues, auditory components and movements patterns. My children not only have developmental issues but TBI issues as a result. She explained how their behaviors, reactions, and academics are related. Having the complete assessment and follow up with a multi sensory approach to vision is exactly what I was looking for.

My daughter vision was in bad shape. It all started when I notice she would tilt her head to the side to look forward. It almost looked like she had a neck problem, but it was her eyes. She was referred to an eye doctor and was told she had duanes syndrome and there was nothing we could, within a couple weeks I started noticing more changes and Yes I took a picture and saw a glowing eye. I panicked and looked for another eye doctor for second opinion. The 2nd doctor told me she had no tumor (yay!) but one eye was shutting down since her eyes were to coordinate correctly and were seeing a different image and the brain was overwhelmed and just decided do start shutting one of the eyes. She recommend patching the good eye for 3months and if the problem was not solved, then surgery would be recommended. We left the office with glasses prescription, And we were to come back in 2months for patching. I had a gut feeling that this couldn’t be all there was to it. I started researching and saw couple videos of vision therapy a mother was doing for her daughter with severe strabismus, but they were in a far different state. I started looking for places here in Phoenix, and Arizona Vision Therapy popped up in Tucson on my search engine. I made an appointment and 2months later she was started on vision therapy for a year. Yes, we are from Mesa and drove every weekend to Tucson and don’t regret at all! My daughter is 9yrs now, she no longer sees doubles, her head tilt is nonexistent unless she is very tired, her reading comprehension and reading ability has drastically improved. She went from needing reading and writing intervention at school to being praised by her teacher for her reading and writing abilities. Today was our last visit, and Dr. Thomas informed us that she does not need any glasses for now. We are so greatful for Dr. Thomas, and her level of knowledge and the evidence based interventions she takes. For any parent who is skeptical, give it a try. Do your part at home with vision therapy. I know it can be tedious and boring for kids and even parents, but believe me it works if you do your homework with your kids!

My mother is a stroke patient and has impaired vision. I have taken my mother to several places and even walked out of one because of the way they treated her. Each time I visit with Dr. Thomas I am amazed at the testing and results. I apparently have a very complicated situation with my eyes. She is pressing in and finding the results. That’s just the doctor. Because of the type of person the doctor is her office is beautifully run. All of the others in the office are so positive and helpful.I’ve already personally recommended her to multiple friends. Let me recommend this office to you as well.

At the eye doctors office they check to see the distance that our eyes focus. They have us glasses that didnt do anything. At Arizona Vision Therapy Center they show you where the eyes are looking, how long they can focus, and if the child is struggling to see. It was very easy to see and understand. Im very glad we went. The staff was very friendly and my son enjoyed the exam.

This is the most amazing office. The girls in the front are kind and professional. The prices for what’s included compared to other offices are extremely fair. Dr. Amy is very knowledgeable, passionate about her profession, and constantly going to workshops and classes to expand her knowledge. After tons of research she is the only person on the west coast I could find that is has as much knowledge of the z-bell method as she does in addition to eye function, brain function and how they relate to the body. I wouldn’t waste my time anywhere else.

I am just beginning with vision therapy and am so grateful for Dr. Thomas and her staff! They have been helpful and comforting during a very stressful time. After my injury, watching someone else scroll through a page of information on the computer sent my innards (head and body) into chaos. Just recently, I was able to experience that this is changing. I found myself watching the movement on the screen and I didn’t feel I had to immediately look away to save myself. My system felt mostly safe watching the scroll. I am also noticing my visual memory and reading processing are improving. I am encouraged to continue with the process and would definitely recommend Arizona Vision Therapy Center.

I had a Wallenberg Syndrome stroke in November 2018. I started vision therapy with AZ Therapy Center a few months later. Dr Thomas has helped me straighten out my double vision from the stroke and even helped me correct the side effects of a traumatic brain injury from my childhood. I can work on the computer and read books without significant eye strain. The other services available at the office have also been very helpful. The S.E.T. therapy sessions help me with balance, posture, and a sense of wholeness throughout my body. As a result, I walk better overall and take longer walks when I go outside for fresh air. The IonCleanse foot baths help me feel like my insides are being washed somehow, which helps my mental focus, attention span and listening skills. I cant recommend Dr. Thomas and AZ Vision Therapy highly enough.

Insanely friendly as usual. They are always trying to research, improve their service, and have the most effective care possible. They respect your input and look at your health as a whole despite focusing on your vision since many factors play into that. Lots of solutions - they dont look to just bandaid a situation - they look to permanently solve and heal it. This last appointment we laughed since we get so much done in one appointment we actually got done 5 minutes earlier than ever - been going there a while since my case is very complicated - best care ever and the first time in my life Ive had IMPROVEMENT in my vision and health instead of a decline.

Dr Thomas has a unique approach to solving my issues with vertigo from a previous brain aneurysm. Ive spent years in therapy working to regain my sense of spacial cognition and nothing compares to what she has accomplished in just a few months. She is such a joy to work with as well.Karin, her SET therapist has helped not only with the spacial cranial work but also with the areas of my body that traditional therapies have failed to achieve. My mobility continues to improve with each session. Several of my friends have started to come to her now as well. She has been a blessing in my struggles to regain mobility.

Dr. Thomas is a miracle worker, my son always had a hard time reading and had C’s, D’s and F’s in school. After an examine she told me he had basically been turning off his left eye and reading only with his right eye, the tests she does really show you how the sight affects their coordination, balance etc. She prescribed prism, colored lense glasses and right away he noticed a difference in his ability to read and his handwriting drastically improved! Fast forward six months and 3 lenses later, he no longer needs glasses, does not get headaches with reading and is an A & B student!! Please give Dr. Thomas a try, she is a true professional and such a great person! Thank you Dr. Thomas for all your help 😃❤️❤️👏 Angel is a truly grateful

I have multiple syndromes and have had a few small (well, I thought they were) TBIs in my life. A friend of mine recommended Vision Therapy to me after lots of random seizures, migraines, fainting spells and changes in my health. It is so much more than I ever could have realized.Dr. Amy Thomas specializes in neuo-optometry, meaning you are working on brain, mood, behavioral and structural issues tied to your eyes all at once. What is super cool is you can grown NEW neural pathways in your brain, no matter your age (Im 36 fyi). I wish I had done this as a child, and especially after my first wreck at age 16!!Dr Thomas does more than just help you with your vision. She is very good at working with rare diseases like EDS, MCAS, POTS - zebras will feel safe here. The first visit she picked up on some underlying causes like mold with me. Her suggestions for specialists actually started me on a path to wellness - after 20 years of major health crises most Western medicine could not figure out. I now have a team of 5 (it seems like a lot but they work together) and despite fighting mold, lyme disease, and autoimmune issues Im feeling better than I can remember since my teen years.A note about the office and staff - I actually had anaphylaxis in the office once which is terrifying in itself. Her staff was outstanding in how they took care of me. Not just that but they called to check in on me and emailed as well. I have never received such support and care from an office. There is no downside to this particular practice and I very much mean that. It is a special space that really is about helping you balance your brain, balance your eyes, and be your best self.

Without more than a glance at my paperwork Dr. Amy could tell I was in car accidents and muscles pulling my body to one side which was pulling my right eye outward. She explained all the tests and results that were both printed and emailed. Dr. Amys passion shows especially for children. I have worsen glasses for 40 years. I took my son to Dr. Thomas when he was 8 years old. He could not catch a ball. After months of Vision Therapy, after he turned 9, he said to me one day, “Mom, thank you for taking me to vision therapy. Now I can see the whole world in 3-D!” I thought at the time it was very profound for a child of that age to realize the benefits of his therapy!Dr. Thomas is so wonderful with kids. They really love her! She changes the VT “homework” so much that even my wiggly boy did not tire from it or ever get bored!I hope other families discover that Vision Therapy is an alternative to consider instead of surgery for many binocular problems.I have even discovered lately that VT works for adults!
