It’s probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my time in the military, was get ahold of someone in this facility. You’ll average 20 minutes waiting for someone to pickup, only to have them call you back with an answer to your question 3-5 business days later. Your command need documentation or letter to back up your health today? Well, too bad. Better luck next month.

Me and my boyfriend got covid, both left messages for PCM team that was marked urgent and same day, both didnt receive calls, I left multiple tcons with other issues as well and never received a call back. I had to get tested off base because I never got a call back to get tested. Very dissapointed. Focuses more on getting people back to work than caring for their medical needs and its very sad.

My PCM was assigned here and I needed to come in and take a pregnancy test to get a referral for an obgyn. I was told to not make an appt, but to just walk in. I was told over the phone it would be quick so no need to make an appt for this. I waited and waited and the women at the counter was unbelievably rude. Assuming she was a contractor I am not suprised. No basic pleasantries and just rude. This place I just like the dmv. Long waits on the phone and when you get here and EXTREMELY rude people. If you can, you really should go somewhere else. They really need to work on the attitudes of the people that work at this front desk, the phone system and long waits.

Lackluster service and not skillful. Was told I had a torn muscle that turned out to be pneumonia. I was also told to go away multiple times until a doctor had to tell the nurse to see me. I told them it hurt to breath and they didn’t care.

It is a very long wait to get someone to answer the phone. The person answering is seldom able to connect me to an office that actually answers the transferred call or their specific phone number. The online appointment app at Tricare shows no appointments available for the next 3 months. Part of their care includes, I guess you will just have to learn to live with it. and I dont believe in that diagnosis from your previous specialist because even though the condition is recognized by the AMA and all reputable sleep specialists, I dont believe in it. Lovely

This facility is horrible especially at taking calls or attempting to get ready for pre deployment appointments. The phone calls go on and on only to lead to a final automated voice mail saying they are experiencing technical difficulties and can not take phone calls.SERVICE HORRIBLE

By far, the worst medical unit in the DoD. Terrible customer service.

Coverage for retirees is simply disappearing. At the age of 65, we were urged to find a primary care physician elsewhere. Now I can no longer get lab work performed at the clinic. There is nothing left except for the pharmacy for retirees and I feel certain that will be closed to us in the near future.

The automated help line is useless for anything other than a routine question. If you have a specific question that doesnt fit, theres no way to actually TALK to anyone at the MEDGRP unless you drive out there in person. There HAS to be an option provided to speak with a MDG group person if you need that type of assistance.

Absolutely love MacDill and their medical group. They are so clean inside and outside the building. The people that work there are a lot more positive, happier and nicer to ask for help and directions. I’ve been to 3 military clinics, so far, and this is truly the best one I’ve been to. I loved the doctors for both myself and my daughters. The prescription drop-off/pick-up is quite small compared to others, but that’s a small flaw compared to all the great things they have there. I know a lot of people aren’t fond of military base clinics or doctors, but I guess I’m one of the small few who actually enjoy them and prefer to use them over civilian doctors.

I went in for an OB/GYN minor problem and I was told by a 1LT who was not my primary care nurse who I have yet to meet that I needed to do what she called a self-swab on myself. I was at a lost for words because I have never experienced such a disrespectful and demeaning treatment from any military facility I have ever been to in my 26 years of service nor after my retirement in 2016. She said she was assisting my PCN who never came in.I was told to swab myself...I was like whattt??? Am I my own doctor because young lady I have never heard of any doctor or nurse telling me to perform my own swab. I guess she thought something was seriously wrong with me. She did not even know where any of the medical stuff was in order to prep for this so call self swab. A young man came in to help her.Neverthless I swab myself and all I could think about was who deserves this and what medical person treats patients like this.I was so taken back by all of this and I did request to see an actual OB/GYN before she entered the room after my vitals were taken. I hope this is not this 1LT job because this is definitely not the right field for her.

If youre active duty, this place is great! You see your PCM, and once they put in x-rays or whatever, you just walk upstairs and I was seen in literally 6 minutes at 1100 on a Tuesday. You generally have to wait like 2 weeks to get initial referral appointments, but if it is a non-urgent matter then thats fine. The facility is clean, and all you really have to worry about are the 6 million retirees that are hanging around waiting to PCS to heaven.

Not great but better than the VA or Brandon Clinic (those places are absolutely horrible). The desk clerks at 6th medical group are lazy and rude. Make sure you get there about 30 minutes before your appointment because they make you stand in line for more than 20 minutes while they have personal conversations/talk/text so they can make you late and deny you care. Very, very rude clerks/secretaries, they talk down to active service members, retirees & family members. Getting an appointment is like hitting the lotto, good luck. I wait months & even more than a year to get seen. My doctor (when I have seen her because usually you see a random doctor, PA, RN), is ok. Usually I get treated if Im able to see a doctor. The airmen Techs here are so-so, not very professional; very interested in VERY loud conversations at the desk, they usually ignore patients & are sometimes rude.

Their phones are terrible!!. It is impossible to get someone to answer. Always on hold every single time we call. Being another healthcare provider does not give us any priority. Impossible to get a hold of a person to speak to regarding mutual patients. We cannot get exptensions or direct phone lines. They pick up the phone and put it right back on hold without speaking. When someone answers, then they transfer you to 3 other different people.

Not sure where to start. This big new facility where you cant be seen unless you hit the lotto with an appointment. Example, I had pneumonia and couldnt breathe. A Lt told me to drive to the emergency room or wait two weeks for an appointment. A chief pulled me into the back because he noted the wheezing, blue lips and blue nails. Middle of the day and they were too busy? Now evergtime I go there, getting good and appt is like a lottery. That much taxpayer money in that big of a facility and there is no 24/7 support? Guess the airforce only works bankers hours?
