When I first toured the Buildings, I found everyone seemed happy and friendly. I loved seeing the interaction between staff and residents. My goal was to find a warm & caring community, that I can refer my senior clients that are ready for socialization again. Atria Tamarac is the right place.

My mother initially was in the Assisted Care section and transitioned to the Memory Care unit in 2018. I have been impressed with the personal care that my mother has received and the dedication of the personnel that care for the residents. I would highly recommend Atria of Tamarac for the care of others with dementia.

Definitely recommend! I attended an open house and was truly impressed. I received a warm welcome, everyone was very friendly and it felt very homely there. The event was indoor/outdoor so I got an opportunity to observe a little. Its very clean and well maintained. The outdoor garden was my favorite; very picturesque.

When mom required an Assisted Living Facility in South Florida we chose Atria Tamarac as the facility was clean, home feeling and great staff that had been at the facility for years. It’s a challenge to find facilities where the staff has been employed for extended period of time. Longevity at a facility provides for stability and allows family members peace of mind when they care for their loved ones in the home any longer. I would definitely recommend Atria Tamarac over other facilities.

It’s often quite rare to find warm and loving assisted living community that looks more like a high end bed-and-breakfast where well traveled seniors are enjoying their days. Atria Tamarac is not only warm and welcoming but the department managers are very organized and serious about how they run their business and how they serve their seniors. I have clients that I frequently visit there and I get the opportunity to observe how in tune the management is, not just within their departments, but with the staff, the residents and their families as a whole. The business office staff is exceptional and are always ready to answer questions when I ask about anything to do with my clients billing or any fees that might be associated with their accounts. Gita, the administrator, has an amazing open-door policy and has exceptional problem-solving skills. Her judgment and decisiveness exemplifies great leadership. But it’s not just the managers: it seems that their desire to serve becomes contagious and trickles down to all of the staff members. And this is what I’m most impressed about Atria Tamarac. I would certainly recommend Atric Tamarac any to any family searching for the right assisted living community. Even if it was outside of their budget I would strongly recommend anyone to go and visit the community to see what a well run assisted living community looks like and compare with other communities. I may be a little bit biased in this review, but it certainly is well warranted based on the myriad of times I’ve visited and have observed excellence in service in assisted-living.

It has taken me a year to write this review. My father passed away a year ago at Horizon Bay. His one year anniversary has brought back memories that I would like to share with other families considering placing their loved ones at this facility. My brother and I made the tough decision to put my Dad in an assisted living facility about 3 months prior to his death. Horizon Bay seemed like a good choice. The tour went well and everyone seemed very caring and the facility is very clean. So, we placed him there. My father was 83 years old and suffered from COPD, so he definitely needed assistance. He was placed in a second floor room at the end of a long hallway, so getting to meals was difficult for him. I thought that was a bad choice of room selections but was told that was what they had available at the time. At first, the staff was very accommodating with wheeling him back and forth to his room for meals, as he couldnt walk long distances. Mostly, the staff at the restaurant would do this. The food was good and the people that work in the restaurant are wonderful.I cannot say that the rest of the staff was that helpful or caring. Of course when family was there, they seemed very attentive. However; what I noticed from our experience was that they have better associates on during the day and your loved ones are left to fend for themselves on nights and weekends. As a family, we made a point of visiting our Father on an almost daily basis and called every day several times a day. We put him in an assisted living facility so that we had some piece of mind that he was being looked after. That was not the case at Horizon Bay.Other than my Fathers physical limitations, his mental state and mindset were fully in tact. He was receiving paliative care through hospice and had nurse visitations once a week and a CNA that came in 5 days a week to help him bathe. His medications were organized for him by either myself or his hospice nurse. He was more than capable of taking his medications on his own. Well, Horizon Bay staff deemed him unfit to take his own medications and took them away from him immediately. I go to see my Father to find out he has not had any of his important medications in 3 DAYS! I immediately go to the nurses station and ask for his medications. They pull them out of a drawer, in a plastic bag and said they havent gotten around to organizing them yet. Are you kidding me? In addition to this, they wanted to charge us an extra $500 to administer his medications. They werent concerned about my father, they were just trying to make extra $$$$. Once they started my Father on his medications, he kept complaining how tired he was all of the time and said that they were drugging him. I requested a copy of his medication list and found out that they were giving him Laprazolam 3 times a day! That was prescribed by his Dr. as needed and as requested. They were trying to knock him out so that he didnt dare ask for anything. Another, are you kidding me moment.Upon my visitations and my Brothers visitations, we found him with his Oxygen either unplugged or hose not attached on several occasions. He was not physically capable of doing this himself and someone should have noticed as he was receiving medications twice a day. Another thing we had to be worried about. I could go on and on but think I have made my point. If your loved one is completely self sufficient and doesnt need any assistance whatsoever, this would be a nice place to put them. However; at the $3800 a month and additional fees for every little thing other than their room and meals, I would keep them in their own place. This place offered our family no piece of mind and I feel as if my father wouldnt have declined as quickly as he did, if he was somewhere else.
