Like others, I was not satisfied with Dr. Parks care and will not be returning to his practice. He and his associates are not patient centered and the quality of care is poor in my opinion. I wanted to like Dr. Park but unfortunately from the very beginning his front desk and scheduling staff were rude and unprofessional in their interactions with me. During the initial appointment with Dr. Park, he didnt take the time to really hear my concerns or my goals for treatment. Instead he recommended 3 different medications and sent me on my way, without getting a thorough history. One month later at my virtual followup, I could tell that there was someone else in the room with him but Dr. Park didnt say anything about it which I thought was odd. I am an advocate for good quality health care and patient-doctor confidentiality, and I was disappointed to see that he didnt even introduce this person sitting next to him or ask me if I was comfortable with having them there during the visit. I had to speak up and ask him about this unfamiliar person, and he casually introduced me to Dr. Miller, another psychiatrist in his practice, and he still did not ask me if I was comfortable with her being present. I proceeded and expressed my concerns about my insomnia, and Dr. Miller blatantly asked me about symptoms that were seemingly unrelated to insomnia and sleep difficulties. I was just baffled that these doctors had such a difficult time making an accurate clinical judgment and were focusing on all the wrong things. Overall, I dont feel as though this team can provide the good quality mental health care and diagnoses that I look for in my providers.

I have been seeing Dr. Gutierrez for a few months now. He is personable and also very knowledgeable and takes the time to listen and collect extensive medical history to understand each patient as a whole. When I first came to him, I was feeling hopeless, my marriage falling apart, couldnt stay on task with average daily tasks in life. I felt dysfunctional, a lost cause if Im being completely honest. A few months into seeing Dr. Gutierrez and I am on the proper medication and dosage, I can see a significant change. There is also a psychologist named Jasper, he is available to talk each week and offers the best advice, a listening ear whenever anyone needs. I am very thankful I found this place. I feel like a person and not just a patient if that makes sense.

Not sure where some of these reviews are coming from. I’ve been seeing Dr. Park for four years and he is excellent. Takes time to explain things. Is very knowledgeable. Sure, sometimes you have to wait to see him but that’s every specialist I’ve ever been to. His staff is very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I have nothing but good things to say about all of them.

I was referred to see Dr. Parks, however, the intake lady told me to see Dr. Gutierrez. Worst doctor and psychiatrist I have ever met in my life. The first thing he said to me is Im not about to commit fraud! Wow. I was trying to explain all of my medical conditions as well as my mental health conditions and why its hard for me to work and he just went directly to, Im not taking you off work and not about to commit fraud. First off, I didnt even ask him to take me off work. I was highly emotionally and was in tears from the start just trying to explain everything that Im going through but he was not trying to listen, just ask the questions he wanted to ask and get his process done on his end. This was the worst experience Ive ever had in my entire life with a psychiatrist. I will never go back to this office again. Please DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE. Dr. Gutierrez is so RIDE AND OBNOXIOUS! I would not recommend this psychiatrist or place to anyone, not even my dog!!!

Nothing but great things to say about my experience at Dr. Park’s office. Before I could be seen by Dr. Park, I had a pre-screening evaluation with another associate of the office - I believe she was a licensed counselor or social worker. She was also great, and I appreciated the thorough process to evaluate my needs. The reception staff was able to squeeze in my first appointment with Dr. Park and I was able to see him within a week.Dr Park instantly put me at ease, and obviously had a ton of notes from my original intake with the counselor. He had a good understanding of my situation before I even sat down to talk with him.He spoke to me with the perfect combination of professionalism and compassion. He put me at ease and made me feel understood. He began recommending a plan of treatment, which included multiple new medications. Normally, I hate taking medication. But Dr. Park thoroughly explained why he recommended each medication, the dose, and how they would work together to address what I was experiencing.Almost 5 months later, I’ve seen Dr. Park 3 times now to touch base. He is equally as warm and thorough at my follow up appointments as he was the first time I met him.The office staff helpful, friendly, and efficient. I never have to leave a voicemail if I call, and never feel like I am inconveniencing anyone if I have a question or need assistance. I usually HATE calling my other doctor’s offices because the staff can be less than friendly - but the women here are great and never make me feel anxious. Please give Dr. Park and this practice a shot of you are thinking of seeing a psychiatrist for the first time and are feeling unsure or nervous. You will be in great hands and wish you hadn’t waited so long to seek help.

Do not trust this office with your mental health. My experience with this office for the last year and half has been bad overall. I was initially happy they could help me and the consultation with Dr. Parks was great. He’s friendly and informative. He took the time to explain what’s going on and how the medicine would work. After that I was pushed off to Dr. Gutierrez and it’s been downhill since. The office is very disorganized to where I am expected to not have medication the week after I run out. I have to portion the dosage that he prescribed to account for it. I have to call until they answer to help me get them refilled. They do not return calls. One time the receptionist insisted and her manager insisted I was abusing my my meds and kept it going until she found out the dr messed up the order. It wasn’t even a medication that people would abuse but they did not apologize, they just got too embarrassed to except payment and said I refused to pay $15 for a co pay. I found out my primary care dr can pick up his slack which will come handy since I’m on day 3 of calling to seeing if they can refill my meds. This is not a flare of emotion that is fueling this review. I have been hoping it was just office help not fulfilling duties but this is from the top and it has been a long enough time to leave a genuine review. Please do not trust this office with your mental health.

This so called Psychiatrist is not competent to treat someone who already has reservations in seeing someone for pyschiatric issues. Ive never seen Dr Park, so i cant review his services directly. I see Dr D Gutierrez regularly. I highly recommend this doctor. His approach is a bit intense, quiet but intense, like a parent who knows you stole the cookies before they even ask you. But his intent is good, hes very professional, and has unlimited patience with an endless barrage of unnecessary questions, if youre that kind of person (which i am). If he thinks youre not disclosing enough, hell ask. If youre not ready to answer, hell wait. He remembers the things you tell him from visit to visit. And hes very careful to prescribe medication only after the effects from other lifestyle factors have been exhausted, which i appreciate. Its hard to rate a professional in a profession of which i have limited knowledge. But in terms of my experience (has it been troublesome and painful or has it been smooth and transitional?) I have had a comfortable, relaxed, transparent, and easy road to stability. This doctor is empathetic, analytical, and exhaustive. And very patient.Id recommend this doctor to anybody who is taking their long term mental hygiene seriously.I only awarded 4 stars because Im from another country where psychiatry is practiced very differently. And its hard to transition to this new way of doing things. The loss of one star is more about my growing pains in a new country and less about the facility, and my care practitioner, as a whole. But as i can only provide data that I have, I have to provide data based on this comparison.

Avoid avoid avoid. I waited in the waiting room for over an hour. I than politely asked the girl up front when I was gonna be seen. I then proceed to wait for about 10 more minutes as I watch every other patient get called. I even paid out of pocket before being seen. The front desk girl then tells me that they had skipped my appointment and the next patient was then seen in front of me and that I would have to reschedule for a week from now. This is very disappointing as I took time off from work and showed up early. Dr.Barber didnt even come out to fully explain the mix up. Very unprofessional and I will be actively giving low reviews for this place as I was treated like my time and issues were not treated professionally. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

The staff here are very friendly and cooperative. I’ve been going to this office for two years now and have observed the following:-all of the communication I’ve had with the office staff has been superior to other medical offices I’ve dealt with.- the medical professional take a general interest in your well being and helping you address whatever needs you may haveHonestly, the only downside of coming here is having to be around the patients who feel the need to loudly complain to and disrespect the staff about things out of their control.

This is the absolute WORST OFFICE! Carolyn, the team leader, contacted me several times for an Office Manager position and several other positions. I see why the turn over rate of employees is so high, constant opening on indeed, monster, careerbuilder, zip recruiter, etc. They cannot keep patients, nor their employees. I reported this company to the Better Business Bureau for investigation! I left several voicemails at both of Dr. Parks practice locations, as well as on Carolyns personal cell phone. She has blocked my number, but when I call from my second phone, she still does not answer and send to voicemail. She contacted me and I was reached out to SEVERAL times regarding the Office Manager position and several other positions. Yet, EACH AND EVERY time I reach out, games are played and there is just too much unprofessional, unethical and illegal practices taking place in this practice. I am not a game or a toy, Im tired of being played with. Why would you contact someone several times just to play games and waste their time. I’m filing several motions on harassment, fraud, and false advertisement in connection to attempt to fraudulently gain monetary payments, and various billing and accounting discrepancies and illegal practices. I hired a private investigator to investigate this practice, and the findings were absolutely unacceptable and egregious at best! I’m not sure what other illegal practices they are involved in, but I am going to MAKE sure it is revealed and ALL INVOLVED PARTIES, including Carolyn, office staff, etc, are prosecuted! I left over 12 messages for Carolyn to call me back, and she still has not done so. Too late now. Maybe next time she’ll do what is requested of her instead of playing games and having to be sued. I’m sure Dr. Parks won’t be happy that one of his leaders is the cause of several lawsuits being brought against him and his practice! Thanks!

My experience has mostly not been a good one. At first things were well, my therapist seemed okay. But eventually it was quite clear he was more concerned about talking about himself and not me. I got a new one, and she was actually good. Sadly she was not enough to make up for my horrible experiences here. The cherry on the top was my psychiatrist, Duren Gutierrez. He got my prescription amount wrong, and got irritated when I corrected him on it. Later on it was clear he really did not care about anything else but prescribing me pills and getting me out of his office(after I waiting 50+ minutes to be seen no less). I take a medication that lists on the symptoms irregular heartbeat may occur, and when it does you should speak to your psychiatrist. My prior psychiatrist acknowledged this and hence why I decided to lower my dosage and instead seek other methods to treat my illnesses. I even had a doctor verify I had PVC. Which got better when low and behold I had my dosage lowered. There is a medical article about this is a potential symptom with people that take this medication. When I spoke to Duren Gutierrez about this, he seemed not concern whatsoever. Asking what is the problem, exactly? You are sleeping. You should see a doctor about this. When I told him I did, and told him the result of lowering my dosage he just smiled and nodded. Then told me my medication only causes heart problems if mixed with other medications. I also told him it felt as if I was having withdrawal symptoms from my medication and he only shrugged and implied I was imagining things. This complete disregard of a patients health is unethical. And further proof that if you want help you best support is yourself. I have had past issues with my health, and at times I found that many doctors are either quick to judge or quick to doubt. I would have to get second or even third opinions and even do research on my own to finally get the help I need. The biggest insult to injury was Duren Gutierrez would constantly reference his phone in terms of looking up drug interactions or facts about the drugs I take. This did not inspire confidence in his psychiatric knowledge!I would not trust this jaded man with your mental health! If you actually contract serious symptoms that can result in severe injury or death you will not be able to get a hold of him(I tried before when I had an allergic reaction, never received a call back, and another time before that when I had an interaction with another medication). There is some upside, when I reported this I was heard out and listen to. Unfortunately, I wont settle for being burnt a third time and will be moving on.

This was the worst experience with a doctor Ive ever had. I had to wait over an hour past my appointment time, then the Dr only spent 10 minutes with me talking down to me about how a brain works and God (despite not listing being a Christian anywhere on his site, he told me I had to start going to church to feel better!) then his office double billed me and my insurance and are refusing to give us a refund. Dont waste your time with this nonsense and go see someone worth your time and money instead.

I went to this office for an official diagnosis for something several other medical professionals told me I had. As soon as they heard my family history they stopped listening to my symptoms in their entirety and started to pick my symptoms based on what they thought I had. I ended up with the diagnosis they wanted me to have, they gave me a prescription for a issue I didnt have. The medication ended up reacting very poorly with what I really had and interfering with the basic human day to day activities. I would not suggest going to this office or if you do be very careful about which doctor you see.

This office is fantastic! I Found Dr. Park after searching for someone with experience in psychopharmacology, closed head injury, and general psychiatry. I needed someone to review my various medications for multiple conditions to make sure there were no contraindications or the possibility of it being my meds giving me symptoms. The ladies in the office are absolutely lovely, helpful with working around schedules, working with insurance, etc. Intake was a breeze and as a result, I found the greatest therapist ever (Gasper). Dr. Park is lovely, compassionate, knowledgeable, caring, and not at all condescending as many mental health professionals have been in the past. I’ve ended up with two new diagnoses (something nobody wants) and yet feel ok about it because I know he’s going to take care of me.As for waiting, I’ve always been seen on time, except for once when another patient was having an emergency. I’m ok with that because I’m certain he would do the same for me.Bottom line, if you want a great doctor that knows his stuff and won’t pull any punches but will support you throughout, this is the place to be. It is often a four hour round trip for me since I’m using public transportation, but completely worth it to get the best care ever.

Review №34

I only went to see Dr Park one time, but it was enough for me to see what quality of care I would receive from him. My prior psychiatrist retired & moved out-of-state. Anyway, Im an attorney & always tell my clients that when hiring a lawyer, doctor or any professional for anything that is truly serious, meet with at least 3 professionals & dont make your decision at any of the 3 offices as theres a likelihood of prejudice in favor of the last person seen or the first person met who seems acceptable. Most people go with whoever they first see & feel good about, but if you havent met & interviewed at least a couple others, what do you have to compare to when making a decision, so when its really important, thats the reason behind that frequently cited advice. In any event, Ive had a great 32 year career in law, but after an extremely disastrous divorce (well, I suppose that can be said of most divorces), & my legal partner retired, I ended up having a nervous breakdown & ended up retiring for the most part.Ive treated with mental health care professionals for my entire adult life for anxiety, panic attacks & a low grade form of depression. I am also ADHD & to be a successful lawyer on top of that is almost an impossibility (I didnt even know what ADHD was until much later in life, & so it went untreated), but in the 11th grade circumstances were such that I developed a means of coping with my issues that just happened to be the one means of coping with ADHD without medication. As a lawyer I built a firm that minimized my weaknesses & focused on my strengths & that allowed me to truly blossom as a litigator. But people who have ADHD as a child that goes untreated usually have anxiety & depression later in life (sadly, it is also one of the most overdiagnosed conditions I know of, & according to the Centers for Disease Control something like 4% of the population claim to be ADHD & maybe 1.5 % actually has it & that sounds high frankly as I would say maybe only 1 in 300 have it. From what Ive observed theres a good number of folks who have a few symptoms & then claim to have it. According to one of the foremost experts on the condition, a professor of psychiatry, Russell A. Barkley, Ph.D.(if interested, try to Google a lecture Dr Barkley gave to members in the mental health fields back around 2000, he doesnt pull any punches or sweeten things up as doctors feel compelled to do with patients & such, also he has a lot of information that is free & available on the internet relative to that condition) ADHD is the worst psychiatric condition that doesnt require full time inpatient mental health care after autism, because the vast majority will never graduate high school, the notion of ever going to college can pretty well be tossed out the window, many will become hooked on drugs, develop antisocial personality disorder, & other mental disorders. Personally, from what Ive observed a significant number of the people in prison are ADHD.I apologize for getting off track, but it also goes to show Ive known a lot of psychiatrists both in my work & personally, so my feelings regarding Dr Park arent simply arbitrary. Dr. Park does not provide you with any feedback as to anything you say nor voice opinions as to comments that you make for purposes of seeing what his attitudes towards such matters are. He is extremely patronizing, far more than most doctors or lawyers or other professionals. Also he does or at one time did do some work at that low-cost mental health hospital in Pontiac, called Havenwyck. The doctors there, come in for about 3 hours on the side of the facility for the temporary patients & will speak with about 20 patients over that time, perhaps even a few more. It certainly isnt enough to be able to formulate any serious opinions or do any critical thought, yet its at that time they base their decision on as to whether a person is to be discharged. Shrinks like Dr Park, who treat mostly the poor, often treat patients as not competent to offer insights or opinions worthy of consideration.
