Avoid Dr. Fessler like your life depends on it, because it does. He demonstrated what I would consider criminal neglect in “treating” my father, and also exhibited sociopathic tendencies in my meeting with him. He rushed us out of a follow-up visit after his botched surgery left my father nonverbal, he refused to answer questions, and refused to properly examine my father. Man belongs nowhere near any other patients.

Dr. Fessler is an outstanding doctor!!! He is likely the most competent doctor in the state - or possibly even the entire country. I had a rather complex medical concern, but nevertheless I felt at ease, knowing that I was in good hands. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Fessler, and you too can rest assured that his expertise, experience, and dedication to his craft are second to none!!!

After saving my moms life at St. Johns we visited Dr. Fessler at his office. The staff came from behind the desk to deliver a clipboard to my mom who was using a walker at the time. We had short waits both in the lobby and exam room. The staff was great and Dr. Fessler was professional. Im also aware of his reputation and highly recommend his services.

When I first met him I can honestly say he made me feel like we knew each other forever. He brought up a lot of ways I can get treated and also brought up stuff I never even thought of that can be hurting me. As 27 year old man this guy is great and glad he is my doctor.

The entire visit was exceptional! The front desk staff are very efficient and personable. The nurse, Resident and Dr Fessler take the time to listen, show genuine care and are very knowledgeable and reassuring. I would recommend Head and Spine Institute to anyone looking for top notch, brilliant treatment.

I am pleased with and appreciate the way Dr. Fessler communicates with his patients and the appropriate amount of time he spends with them (or from my perspective, me). He is straight forward as all medical professionals should be and he provides helpful resources and feedback. I would recommend anyone who would need his services.

Dr. Fessler was incredibly unprofessional and demeaning with zero bedside manners. I accompanied my boyfriend to a c-spine consultation this morning. He has suffered from pain, numbness, tingling and burning sensations in his arms for over six months. When explaining his history, Dr Fessler interrupted and said If someone asks you what color the sky is, you wouldnt tell them the color of the sky two weeks ago. After already stating that he would not treated my boyfriend because he has had a previous surgery done by a different surgeon, Dr Fessler began a physical examination of tests involving forcible pushing his arms. These are fairly standard tests, however my boyfriend is in pain and told the doctor that he is unable to perform this exam. Dr. Fessler was not understanding of this whatsoever and made many rude comments about it. I understand that doctors are very busy and we werent even upset with the fact that we didnt see the doctor until one whole hour after the assigned appointment time. But to by that blatantly rude is unacceptable. After waiting for this appointment for weeks, hoping that this would be the solution to months of struggle, pain and appointments, we are left disappointed.

Excellent both professionally and personally. I know I`m in the best of hands with Dr. Fessler. Easy to talk to. Takes the time to explain everything. I can see why he has the stellar reputation that he does.

I appreciate how Dr. Fessler actually listens to what I have to say. He is very attentive and takes his time to communicate his thoughts in a simple matter. Its refreshing to have a Dr. that does not talk down to you.

I was beyond happy with both the doctor and the front office staff. Dr Fessler was very empathetic, understanding, soft spoken and truly caring. Nancy in the front office was also beyond helpful and patient. I will be referring anyone I know to Dr. Fessler. Thank you all for making me feel comfortable. No other Dr has made me feel like that.

Dr.Fessler is very personable and kind. He explains why and why not a procedure such as surgery is to your benefit or not. I am in the medical field and it is very refreshing to find such a caring Dr.

I have seen Dr Fessler in the past...he was a great surgeon then(10-2007) he saved my life 2 times!! he is been My Angel here on earth!! i have had encounters with Neurologists on East side since then. i have not been Happy at all. therefore i am back with Dr. Fessler and i will not change Dr.s again!!

One of the best Neuro Surgeons my family and I have met, who fixed my aneurysm rupture on an emergency situation and provided good support to my family as well while I was recovering. Thanks to Dr. Fessler and his team always. Wishing him and his team the best.

Horrible. He had no bedside manner, and worse sent me for tests without checking to see if the facility did them. 1/2 a day wasted for me...

Dr. Fessler is very informative with information about your diagnosis. Follow up appointments are prompt and results are explained. I would recommend Dr. Fessler to anyone needing a surgeon.

Specialists are usually very hard to get a hold of, his office is open to questions and concerns at any time, very open to any questions and thoroughly answers them. I have been doing great since my neck surgery and would recommend Dr. Fessler and hi steam to anyone who is seeking a Head and Spine specialist.

Expain the problems that are involved with my case,what type of treatment would be considered in my case. Dr. Fessler is very good at doing this,reassured me about my deeply held fears concerning return to surgery.The most important statment I can say about my experience is that he heared every word I said...important.

I am super disappointed with this doctor. I had been seeing him for over 5 years for a herniated disc. Recently, my pain was getting worse so we scheduled surgery for 4/23/13. Dr. Fessler wanted to do surgery at a hospital not affiliated with the network (DMC) that I am through. Dr. Fessler saw me in his office for over 5 years as a DMC doctor but refused to follow his contract with HAP (my insurance) and go to a DMC hospital to perform surgery. When I called HAP, they said Dr. Fessler was in fact, a DMC doctor and is required to go to a DMC hospital if he takes DMC patients in his office. I talked with Dr. Fesslers nurse and told her what HAP had said. I got a call the following day from his nurse saying Dr. Fessler is no longer a DMC doctor and doesnt go to DMC hospitals! I called HAP and they said that wasnt true, he was still a DMC doctor. Obviously, he had his nurse LIE to me to get rid of me! I have filed a grievance with HAP and feel that what Dr. Fessler did is unethical and illegal. Why would I establish a long term relationship with a doctor that refuses to go to a hospital my insurance says I have to go to? If I had been told that he didnt go to DMC hospitals for surgery, I would have never have gone to him :(Now Im starting all over with a new Neurosurgeon after 5+ years with Dr. Fessler. I refuse to have surgery with just anyone, so it will be a while and Im in a lot of pain.

He was knowledgeable about what he was doing and presented it well so that I understood the process.
