I know they do a lot of good work however their phone skills need improvement. I called 3 or 4 times, over a two week period, to get help with medicare. No one returned a phone call. I believe I truly left plenty of time and was very patient.

AAA 1-B is critical in helping seniors and caregivers. During Covid, the agency has supplied thousands of seniors with emergency food packages and curbside meal pickup. The agency has also provided direct care workers with masks, gloves, and hand sanitizers so they can go to work and keep their patients safe. The agency continues doing great work!

I took A Matter of Balance led by Pat and Janet at the TSRC in Ann Arbor. It was outstanding!! Each session was filled with very useful information, and the leaders created a relaxed, comfortable learning environment. I highly recommend this course.

AA1b has contracts with a few Home Health Care providers. New to Oakland county I applied for the services that funding is provided for. The Meals On Wheels program is so welcomed and the volunteers who deliver go above & beyond. The other services offered have been promised since Dec 2016. Ive received 3 days of Home Care this past spring that the employees quit the companys AA1b is contracted with for minimum wage, this care is demanding, physical and often emotionally draining. Due to the wages theres a Home Health Care crisis in Oakland County! OLSHA does contract with AA1b, yet they fail to follow through with promised grab bars, carbon monoxide detectors. The people at and involved with AA1b are a wonderful group although I am not sure why they tell those in need the wait list is 4-6 weeks, yet the wait is years, and many in need to have quality of life and such limited resources to remain independent. Most of the problems exist due to minimum wage and a statewide shortage of caregivers. Governor Gretchen Whitmers recent slashing of funding further decreases support for our disabled and senior citizens!

In April 2016 I took the Diabetes PATH Workshop along with 15 others, most in their 70s. Megan Gottsleben and Cathy Newkirk were our instructors over 6 weeks. I learned more in that time than I had in the ten years living with diabetes. We had weekly goals to meet, accountability to the class, I learned alternative exercises, meditation and most of all how to balance a meal, thus eliminating blood sugar spikes. I have continued to follow what I learned and my recent medical checkup was my best in years.I highly recommend this workshop to diabetics of any age.
