Silver Spring Family Smiles has always worked with me when I need to get in for an emergency and they are superb with regular check ups. They are also the ones who referred me to a specialist (that I indeed needed to see) thanks to one of their cancer screenings. And if you let them know you have any trauma or dentist visit fear they are fantastic. 5 stars!!

As a truck driver and being all over the country, it is hard to find help when the unexpected things happen. I broke a tooth and it needed to be pulled. They were able to get me in the same day and extract that said tooth. I am very thankful that these professionals helped me the way that they did to keep me rolling along. I will be forever grateful!

Was very comfortable with the Dr. Boateng and her assistant, Ebony. I had not been to the dentist for over a year, due to the pandemic, and had no choice due to the pain I was having. Dr. Boateng quickly found the source of my pain, gave me some relief, prescribed a special mouthwash, and discussed the next steps for my treatment. The cost was reasonable. Office was clean and front desk staff were friendly and professional.

Went during Covid. Environment was safe and hygienic. My dental hygienist was super friendly. Maybe I just havent been to the dentist in awhile but Id say either dental technology has come a long way or this office has the latest cutting edge dental technology, cancer searching lasers and star trek reminiscent xray machines. No one likes going to the dentist, but if you have to go, it was as painless as it could be.

After leaving this dental office about 2 years ago, I came back to give them one more chance. I would say I was very glad to see the improvement . I had a hygienist named Sonia who was very gentle, professional, very knowledgeable (she showed me the proper way of brushing and flossing which no one has demonstrated for me before). I also like the pictures she took to show me the areas I need to improve with my brushing. The doctor was very informative and she gave me a lot of options to my treatment. The front desk was welcoming as well. I will definitely make this my dental office again.

Great Service and the Dental Hygienist that worked on me , Sonya G, was the best. She was so gentle and took her time to explain everything she was doing but she still finished on time. She definitely knew what she was doing and answered all my questions. I didnt even know there was oral cancer screening but she told me about it and I ended up getting it done. Dr. S was also really nice. Overall positive experience and very friendly environment. I will go back.

Ive had two bad experiences at this office.First, after having a cavity filled by Dr. Gill, I developed severe pain to pressure and temperature on the tooth that was treated. I had absolutely no symptoms prior to my appointment. I ended up getting a second opinion and needed to have the cavity filled again, which ended up being an out of pocket cost. I was also told by Dr. Gill that I had a second cavity that needed to be treated. After my first experience I never went back to have it treated and no other dentist since has diagnosed a cavity on that tooth. Im not sure if Dr. Gill is extra aggressive with treatment or if my experience was just a one off, but either way it was a bad experience.Secondly, I have contacted Silver Spring Smiles on three separate occasions to have my dental records transferred to my new provider. Each time, the staff is super nice and states that it is no problem and the records will be transferred, but it has been over 7 months and multiple phone calls, including a request directly from my new provider and Silver Spring Smiles has failed to transfer my records. This is purely unacceptable. I would not recommend this office.

Plus it’s less than 5 minutes away from the silver spring metro.

I was a patient of Dr. Mantonis for years when the practice was sold to Silver Spring Family Smiles. Maybe 9 months(!) after a routine cleaning, they sent me a bill for a $30 copay. I called to explain why this was an error (my insurance company agrees. I have full dental coverage with a $0 copay for preventative cleanings). The office staff argued with me on the phone and said sweetly that I dont understand how insurance works. Then they billed me again. And again. And again. After many phone calls and letters to them and to my insurance company, COVID-19 became a thing and I was too overwhelmed to have this on my plate anymore. I mailed a grouchy note and a check for $30 just to make it go away. And guess what. They keep billing me. Two more bills since then. For the same $30. Threats of a collection agency. No one answers the phone because theyre closed during the pandemic. I am happy I have found a lovely nearby dental practice that treats me like a human being. Silver Spring Family Smiles is THE WORST.

Friendly staff, comfortable environment. I have a crown that is oversized in my mouth. They didnt build the crown themselves - actually, the temporary crown they built in their office fit better than the permanent crown I got. They cant quite fix it in their office because they didnt make it. So I have only two options - continue to live with an oversized crown in my mouth or pay again to get another one after I paid for a crown I shouldnt be uncomfortable with already. Not pleased.

This place pulled a total bait and switch. They must have bought out the book of business Dr. Mantoni (a great dentist), built over decades. Ever since that shady take over deal occurred, things have gone way down hill. They are deceptive when it comes to billing and charged me for things they said would be completed at no charge. Poor business ethics and shoddy customer service. There’s plenty of good dentists out there to go to...this is one I would most definitely avoid.

Do not go here. This place has gone completely downhill since Dr. Mantoni left.First of all, I had the absolute worst time scheduling an appointment. They put me down for the wrong thing, at the wrong time. They once called to confirm an appointment on the completely wrong day at a time I never even mentioned. When trying to get in for an emergency appointment, they put me on hold, said theyd call back within the hour. Two hours later, I called back, and the time they told me was already filled. Not only that, but I have had several fillings done over the years. After spending HUNDREDS of dollars getting fillings here, I have had to suffer through tooth pain, sensitivity, and a whole host of other issues. AND I have to spend HUNDREDS MORE dollars at a completely different dentist trying to get this all fixed. Im out thousands of dollars at this point. Ive had to get root canals to fix whatever they screwed up.My life has been miserable for months at this point, as Ive been trying to deal with this pain. Its absolutely ridiculous, and my pain wasnt taken seriously until I called nearly in tears after months. When I mentioned it the first time, I was completely brushed off, which made me less likely to mention it again. It was only until I was in tears that I finally gave up and decided to contact them again.Go here if you want to spend hundreds of dollars to have your teeth in constant pain, then spend hundreds of dollars fixing it.

Ive been a patient for a couple years now and Im very pleased with the staff and their customer service. Their front desk receptionist, Nya, is very sweet and has such a positive, energetic attitude. Today, I had Kadeja as my hygienist and I must say that a cleaning has never felt so smooth before. She gets the job done without feeling like a drill in being pierced through my gums. She is so gentle and very knowledgeable. The only improvement I say would be needed is the billing procedures. After my first or second visit, I contacted my insurance because I thought I paid too much out of pocket. I was right and after contacting the office, I was told that they dont check for credits/over payments because its a lot of work. I did feel like they worked hard to get down to the bottom of my billing issue but I would recommend calling your insurance company after the claim is processed to ensure youre paying the correct amount for your visit.Besides that tiny hump, Im overall satisfied with the service and would recommend anyone to this office! Thank you staff for making it an overall great experience. :)Sidenote: You do have to pay for street or garage parking when you arrive so be prepared for that! Beautiful surroundings though, a lot of places to eat and enjoy!

Very shady business practices. They continue to bill be in error, despite multiple calls and promises. They received checks for dates of service paid by my insurance, but they did not apply these payments to my account. Then they turn around and bill me for the same dates of service, same procedure, and different amounts than they billed to my insurance. Im still getting bills, still calling the office back, still getting promises that theyll figure it out, but. . . nope.

Had an 8am cleaning appointment here yesterday. Loud rock music was playing in the waiting room. The cleaning took an hour (my longest cleaning apt ever) and I still had to see the dr. At 9:15 I told the dental hygienist I needed to leave for a business appointment. . .only to find out that Dr Greenberg was no longer with the practice and I was seeing some other doctor I didnt know! I was furious and left. I like efficiency. Normal cleanings with Dr Greenberg usually took 45 min tops. To make matters worse I had a 60 dollar parking ticket when I returned to my car. It was not a good Monday. Very disappointed.

A very commercialized practice where they only care about getting as much money out of you, not about giving you the treatment thats in your best interest. I had a cavity, they immediately offered to do a root canal for 1,500 USD. I went to another practice where they repaired the cavity for 100$.Later they made an apointment without my consent, without notifying me, asking me if I want it, sending an email confirmation. What wouldve happenned if I hadnt learned about it? I wouldve been charged a no-show fee for an apointment that I didnt make! If I could, I would give this place a zero, unfortunately, 1 star is the lowest review

I have been coming here for at least 5 years but the service has gone down hill. I had a cleaning appointment and the hygenist saw me 1 hour late. When I asked why the wait I was told the dentist had an unexpected procedure. When I was finally seen, the hygienist waisted time talking about irrelevant stuff.. even though I explained that I had another appointment to make. The dentist recommends I have a few filings but I’m not sure I want to go back there. Something has changed and I can’t put my finger on it. Perhaps there has been some turnover. I will likely look for a new practice.

My family and I had been going to this dentist for over 6 years, but with the recent change in ownership, we are never going back. At then end of Feb 2019 we received a bill for work done for my wife in October 2018 (they said they initially undercharged us...?). Then we received a bill for a cleaning my son had done in Mid-November 2018 in March of 2019. The bills provided no explanation of what the charges were for, and they threaten to send the matter to a collections agency if it isnt paid within ten days of the date the bill was issued. When I called the office to ask about the bills, the woman I spoke to lied to me about why I was being charged for my sons cleaning (She said that his insurance had lapsed. We changed his dental insurance in Jan of 2019, so not sure why that would make impact work done in Nov 2018...). Between the terrible customer service, and billing department which needs 4-5 months to generate an invoice, we are looking for a new dentist.

I have been a patient here for years. Last Nov, I had a schedule 7:15am regular check-up appointment. Had received multiple reminders ahead of time. I got there at 7:15 and the receptions said that that was a mistake and they never book appointments before 8am.Then I started getting weird bills. Got 3 bills in 3 weeks for different and absurd amounts for the same visit 9 months earlier. Called the office, was put on hold multiple times and then told they would call me back. No call back. Next week got another threatening bill. Had to call again to resolve.Today went in for regular check-up. The hygienist and the dentist said there were issues from my previous bite-wings (from 2 visits previous 13 months prior), which no one had ever brought up in either of the two previous visits. I noted that this seemed inconsistent, and was told that they had had a lot of temps, but this is what they saw in the year-old x-rays. Then was told that maybe I should seek a second opinion. This place had been great -- now is a disaster. Finding a new dentist now.

After Dr. Mantoni left the practice, for some reason they fired or got rid of all the hygenists. The new team with Dr. Greenberg were different but seem compentent. They seemed to have trouble accessing the historical records and the visit wasnt as smooth. Dr. Greenberg was pretty pushy about replacing a filling I had that Dr. Mantoni had recommended we just keep an eye on it.They didnt send any appointment reminders so I missed my appointment. Under Dr. Mantoni, you got a text and other reminders to help so it was frustrating. Anyway, its now been about 11 months since my last cleaning. I was easily able to make a new appointment as the schedule is wide open. Looks like all Dr. Mantonis clients are leaving in droves. There is an entirely different team there and a new dentist- Dr. Gill. The office team is great. They are super friendly, well informed and professional. They are literally the only reason I second guessed my decision to leave. They hygienists- well the one I had seemed to be struggling. She was a temp so that was probably part of it. The other two just didnt even seem that professional either by dress or conduct. The one who cleaned my teeth did NOT do a good job. She barely scraped for plaque-- and only focused on between the teeth and didnt check along the gums. Even putting the toothpaste on, she missed the back teeth. I would not come back here to get a teeth cleaning unless they got new hygenists.I was due for xrays, since it had been 18 months since my last ones, and they declined. Dr. Gill then came in and performed an exam based on my 18 month old xrays and didnt even check my mouth. Not to be mean but she was having halitosis so it was hard to concentrate. She seems nice and cognizant of why clients are leaving... she was very friendly and did her best to not be pushy with a treatment protocol, but I was not impressed that she was using the old xrays and not even doing her own check. She looked briefly at the end but that was it.I didnt have any problem requesting that my records be transferred to another dentist. I completed a form and paid the $25 right there and got an email address for them to send it to-- and they said they would send them today.

I had the worst and scariest experience at this office. I went in for a regular checkup to see Dr. Greenberg, and when I went in they said he had moved locations and I would be seeing a different dentist. They had not told me he had left previously which upset me because I had been seeing him for 7 years.Fast forward I had to get 3 cavities filled. The woman who worked on me was less than adequate. I told her I had never been numbed before for a filling and she said well I always do that so thats what we are going to do which immediately made me feel uneasy. It felt extremely invasive. It did not feel numb and i said I felt little to no difference after they injected the novocaine. The woman proceeded to drill into my tooth, low and behold it hurt. She injected me again and said this should be enough novocaine, to which I said I feel barely any different. I kept putting my hand up because it hurt and she kept telling me to put it down. I honestly wanted to get up and run but a hole was drilled into my tooth so I felt trapped. After she was done I about lost it and left in tears. First time a dentisit office ever made me feel terrified. Will not be going back.

I had to wait 30 mins for a routine cleaning - Ive never waited more than 5 minutes. I felt like I was being upsold (all of a sudden I need a $300 nightguard?!) and, honestly, the hygienist I saw wasnt efficient and downright hurt my mouth.
