I find this difficult to write but if it will help another person then its worth it. Prior to the Christmas Holidays we met with Doctor Wright to discuss the plan to to treat Bladder cancer. The visit went well and we felt confident we were going in the right direction. Plans were made to address the cancer after the holidays but just after Christmas became ill and needed medical attention regarding the cancer. We called Dr. Wrights phone number and were told he was on vacation, no problem, and they would get back to us right away. They called back and said he was unavailable, on vacation, and there wasnt another doctor taking his calls or treating his patients. We explained what was going on and they said they were sorry but they couldnt help us. No suggestions, nothing. We called our PCP and he told us to get the ER at Northwest as soon as possible, which we did, and they performed an emergency procedure to reduce the pain and drain a kidney which was blocked to the bladder area which cancer Dr. Wright treats. In all fairness we never followed up with Dr. Wright to get an explanation why this happened. Why we were told there were no doctors available to treat his patients while he was on vacation by his staff disturbs me. I dont believe this was the case but in an emergency what is someone to do. They never even told us to go to the ER at the University Medical Center. Our PCP referred to another Urologist at a different hospital.
