I will not go back to this Kaiser. I was waiting at least 5 hours. I was upset because I dont like doctors offices from other bad experiences. Everyone was nice and concerning until social work came to talk to me. I am new to Washington and wanted to discuss options and find out how I could get more help. She was so rude that after our phone called.... yes a phone call was all I got. I hung up and put my clothes on and left. I didnt even get my medication. I was so upset I went outside and cried and hyperventilate till my ride came. I did not feel like a person. I felt like a number to be pushed through. The doctor and nurse were nice. But i was in so much emotional pain and i just left a place that should have helped me. I just wanted to talk! I was confused about everything! I wanted some clarification. But apparently that is to much to ask for.

To be frank, I have tried to hold a lot of space on a judgement call on this place for some time due to the kindness of the nurses and lab technicians, but I am truly beyond tired of the subpar treatment I have received from the doctors here. I have received such atrocious treatment from the doctors at this facility it has honestly made me anxious about going to the doctor at all. After being assaulted, a doctor once asked me what I would do in future to prevent being assaulted again. When trying to diagnose a chronic gastrointestinal problem, I was regularly told I was just stressed out until I insisted further tests were done, and even then the gastroenterologist asked if I wasnt just making myself throw up before reviewing my test results. Surprise--I have a chronic condition. I am regularly told to simply keep taking medications without answers around what is happening, and today have been left in a position where I am totally unable to access one of said medications that I need to function because my doctor seems to have forgotten to put in my refill, despite us speaking within the last week. I know these are all people trying to do their best, but I have felt so dehumanized and disrespected in this place. I am desperately looking for new care providers. If you have the choice, I recommend trying elsewhere and seeing if you can get treated like a human being.

I had a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy by Salcedo-Wasicek, MD. Great COVID restrictions, which makes it feel safer, even though some patients/supporters of patients will take off their masks when they don’t think they’re being watched. I have severe needle phobia, so they were kind enough to wait to do the anesthetic until they were about to take me in to the surgery room. I couldn’t stop shaking, though, and they couldn’t get the needle in, so they were kind enough to take me in to the surgery room and gas me to sleep. They kept reassuring me that they were going to wait until I was out to do the needle. The entire staff was so kind, and reassured me over and over. They were great when I came out of anesthesia, as well. They were patient with me, and helped me get up slowly. They gave me nausea meds when I let them know I was not feeling great. Wonderful staff, all around! One issue, with the building itself: cell service is terrible in there, so they couldn’t get ahold of my spouse after the surgery. It took a while to get my spouse in with me because of that.

For having a designated disabled parking area, its funny that you hide your wheelchairs way up on the 1st floor. Are you afraid somebody might use them? If your gonna be that psycho about them, then put a guard on level C to protect them. Also, since your sooo worried about this coronavirus, why have nobody around to test you, give masks, or give the screened stickers to those who entered? Your slipping...right now your operating just about as bad as the Franciscan health care system.

. I went to urgent care, and I highly suggest there be retraining of the staff of how to proceed with medical procedure. For one, the person who drew my blood placed all of the items she was using on the bedside tray that was clearly unclean...she put on gloves (without washing/sanitizing hands) and then she said she needed an additional item, so she went to a cabinet opened it with her gloved hand, and after retrieving the item made no move to change her gloves before inserting the needle 😰 I feel like that is unsanitary and dangerous??? I had one nurse give me a medication drink and told me to drink up without telling me what it was which freaked me out, I pressed and she could not tell me what it was called but said it’d help with the pain. And another nurse was questioning the validity of my pain amount, I found it irritating because it felt like she was accusing me of trying to get more medication. I also found it disruptive and weird how other staff members kept barging into my room to grab supplies. A very disorganized and chaotic vibe.

I have been with Group Health since 1980, from an insurance based policy to a not for profit consumer governed, team based health care provider. I had a choice of doctors and even had the opportunity to interview them before choosing the doctor I felt confident ability to not only listen but acknowledge my concerns and then work to solve my medical need. Dr. Peter Littlewood was my primary doctor for over 25 years and was not only my doctor but friend. He was involved in the yearly consumer meetings and a strong supporter of the consumer governed model. I have a new primary care doctor now and he is as good as Peter and I hope he too will be around for as long. Over these past 35 years Group Health has always been there not only for medical needs but also encouraging healthy living and nutrition, as well as community outreach. In 1995 I talked my husband into changing his medical to Group Health, just a decade later he was diagnosed with cancer. Our primary doctor sent us to an Oncologist in Olympia, Dr. Ann Williams who together with other Oncologist at Group Health laid out a plan for his treatment. First chemo then a stem cell transplant done by the team who were the most compassionate caring considerate people you will ever meet, not to mention totally supportive. That was in 2005, today we are back for another round of chemo and another stem cell transplant, thankfully we have the same team to guide us through this difficult time. I cant think of any where I would rather be than in the care of Group Health and our Oncologist and his team at the Capitol Hill Campus.

My doctor then kind of yelled at me for not bringing this up before, then she ordered the blood test, after which I was presented a bill for $1800. For one blood test because they didn’t have the proper facilities at KP so they had to send it LESS THAN A MILE AWAY to UW Medical Center. After they were finally able to diagnose my condition, which is a somewhat rare condition, they sent me to 3 specialists who all said they didn’t know anything about what I have. But i had to pay to hear that FROM THREE DIFFERENT SPECIALISTS. I eventually opted to leave my condition to fate after surgery and asked them to stop referring me to specialists. After the inability to pay my exorbitant medical bills completely within 1-2 months and contacting a social worker who never called me back, I’m now in collections and being sued by the hospital. This place is a FARCE. GO TO UW MEDICAL CENTER! GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!

First of all, I love my primary care doctor and the staff at the Downtown Seattle office. Shes very thorough and takes my concerns seriously. I went in on Friday for a suspicious lump that could very well be cancer...or nothing at all. My primary care doc ordered additional radiology tests. Not a great feeling to have a possibility of cancer looming over me--I just want to get it over with and know.I called the radiology clinic right after my appointment on Friday at 4:30--I was concerned and a little shaky calling and the woman on the other line treated me like I was dumb and a burden--I didnt know the tests I needed as I was frantically looking for the after visit summary I just received in the middle of a busy area outside of the clinic. Sorry lady, just a little scared here. That was my first time dealing with someone less than pleasant at Kaiser. The scheduler had gone for the day. No worries--It was the end of the day and understand that. However, I sat this weekend stewing with worry.I called first thing this morning, and I couldnt schedule an appointment because they had to review the orders for errors. I have to wait for their call--which could be tomorrow. Ill admit the woman on the phone this morning was very pleasant and understanding of my anxiety. I just hate waiting!!! Meanwhile, my work schedule is building up for the week and worried I wont be seen for a while. Just frustrating to schedule an appointment! Overall, Im pleased by the quality and continuity of care--I just wish it were a little more coordinated.

A good doc is a unicorn in Kaiser. The good ones always seem to find a better opportunity elsewhere, with many trying to hang on until they can retire. Staff Moral is awful most of the time, and many seem to be hired for the personality instead of skills or knowledge, which alludes to a very political office culture. The doctors are good people struggling to practice medicine in a culture that prioritizes minimal maintenance at a frozen turtle pace. Every schedule is too tight, no room for rush medical issues, every test or next step is 3-6 weeks out in booking. Doctors either have no time or interest in discussing things so you can make informed decisions. My own medical issues have seen little progress in 2 years, compared to my prior experience with S____ M____ where motivated doctors make an effort to figure out the problem and solve them quickly. It is exactly what you expect from bottom line micro-management trying to squeeze every penny out of the process. The bottom line is patient issues are managed not resolved, and if you understand the difference then you are one up on KP mgmt.(edit, rating dropped because there seems to be some gaming the system in the reviews, which is further evidence their priority is business not medicine)Further Update:Today, I had an appointment which the doctor who ended up having to call-out in the morning. My appointment was transfered to another doctor and an hour later. I was not called or consulted, and the replacement doctor lacked the side-specialty training that was central to the appointment. And when I tried to complain, KP officially passed the buck because I dont have their Insurance... talk about copping out when an opportunity for improvement pops up.And yet a further update (how do I drop the rating below 1 star?):I tried to detail my issues with KP using their secure email system. I finish my typing and hit send, and the system had logged me out and the message was lost. I spent a significant amount of my time composing it to be a constructive critique... all gone, KP and their M.O. has wasted my time even further.

Do not go here. The urgent care at Kaiser Permanente was the worst experience I have ever had. It is a hospital not a traditional urgent care. They immediately gown you, put an IV drip on you before even speaking with you. That intial cost is over $200, before they do anything else, this included a “new patient fee”. I went in for a migraine in which my General Doctor usually gives me a very general steroid shot that takes away the pain within 10-20 minutes. The doctor at Kaiser, not only spoke ill of my General Doctor, he insisted on giving me this Antipsychotic drug and I had to beg for the steroid. Needless to say my migraine did not go away and I lied to leave because I was made to feel so uncomfortable. I ended up taking excedrine migraine which did the trick for the headache but I was sick for 2 days after from the antipsychotic. I will never go back there ever again. The doctor did not listen to me, I felt like they had their own agenda (money, ego whatever it was) it was definitely not my best interest. Do not go here.

The doctors are very competent and the nurses really seem into their jobs unlike elsewhere where they seemed bored out of their skulls, rushed, indignant as in how dare you ask for my help--just be grateful Im not letting you piss yourself. At one place, I wasnt ambulatory for 2 weeks and I literally didnt get catheter chances or IV changes for days at a time and developed bed sores, even after asking if someone would help me walk around the kiosk in a circle with my walker. They told me I wasnt allowed to shower because I could fall--even though they were supposed to have shower chairs and such and assistants for patients that are fall risks to go to the bathroom and shower. There was a woman down the hall who apparently wasnt behaving who, and I SWEAR this is true, was locked in a weird cage of some sort...it had a bed and mesh...not sure what it was...at first I thought it was unlocked for a sick new mother and baby, but NO! And they giggled! SICK!!!!Ive gotten hugs at Cap Hill, lots of phone calls to follow up on tests, and besides the nurses the receptionists, aids and other staff are incredibly nice and will take time to chat with you about pretty much anything. They are really empathetic and when you are seriously ill, you need that. They have 5 star docs here and although the little OTC shop is poorly stocked, the receptionist is sweet and bubbly and seems to feel bad she cant give customers the products they need.Good pharmacy, not as great as lynwood but still quality and knowledgeable. I come here for the treatment I cant receive at Lynwood (b/c my PC there knows where the best of the best specialists are at) and Ive never had a bad experience. They should rename Urgent Care to Will get to you when we can Care. The word Urgent in Urgent Care is very misleading as far as Im concerned. We were in Urgent Care just as long as, if not longer, than the major surgery my wife had yesterday. 6+ hours and counting.
