Im a relatively new member, and Im really pleased with this gym. As someone who is fairly new to a lot of the different lifts we do here, Ive gotten great guidance from the coaches to improve my form and feel really confident and capable. I also found the onramp class to be really helpful. The atmosphere is supportive and friendly and fun, and just enough competitive- or maybe thats just me! Think Im mostly competing with myself. Its also just a really nice facility- love the open air layout, and the class sizes are just right.

My fiancé and I started coming to GLSC in the spring after living in the neighborhood for several years. Nate and Kate are both extremely accommodating and communicative as owners, and weve really enjoyed the pep and level of instruction from the coaches (shoutout to Patti and Jaeger!). We appreciate the coachs focus on teaching the proper technique for each movement to avoid injury, and the warmup exercises at the start of every class are targeted at the parts of your body that you will use during the rest of the workout. We also really like the small class sizes and variety in the exercises. As somebody who gets bored very easily, Ive avoided becoming a regular at any gym in the past because every workout felt like the same exercises. Every class at GLSC has been different, and this has been important to helping me stay engaged.Joining GLSC has been a highlight of the summer for us, and we highly recommend the coaches and facility!

I moved to Seattle recently and a friend referred green lake strength and conditioning to me. I’m blown away by the staff, the members and the gym. I was never able to stick with any workout program until I found GLSC. I enjoy it so much that I picked my new apartment based on distance from the gym. I really love how the community and coaches motivate me to stay regular and constantly improve. Would highly recommend for anyone who wants an open and supportive gym environment to really challenge yourself and grown in!

As a complete beginner, I felt so welcomed when I first stepped into GLSC. When you first join the gym, the coaches will take you through an on-ramp course to teach you their fundamental movements in a small class setting. It clearly shows that they care about proper technique and helping everyone develop a strong foundation for strength and conditioning. This is the first time Ive attended a class-oriented gym, and Im glad Ive gotten to experience it with such a supportive community!

I absolutely love this gym. We’re relatively new to the area and new to this type of training but were introduced by our friend and neighbor, who has been a member for years. We were sold after the first class, and seven months later, we’ve never felt so healthy, physically and emotionally. The training is amazing. The workouts are fun and challenging but accommodating to all fitness levels with a true focus on form and safety so that we can do this for years. The community is friendly and welcoming, and it didn’t take long before they felt like friends. We’re so grateful to Kate and Nate for the work they do!*Great and safe during Covid with the ability to transform to an outdoor gym with small classes

GLSC is a first class operation with very professional and personable owners and coaches. They do an amazing job of helping individuals gain skills and to improve overall strength and conditioning. Every coach is excellent. They are very focused on individual coaching during class to ensure you have good form in order to gain the health benefit as well as not get injured. The class size is 9 or less so they have time to help each member as well as offer alternatives as necessary to meet members at their level. It is a very positive environment. I joined last May and have already benefited greatly from the classes. I highly recommend SLSC!

I have been going to this gym for almost year and it has been such a good experience. I started out from not working out much in my life at all, and with help of the gym classes and professional trainers, I feel I have made a lot of progress both physically and with my self confidence. It is nice to just show up, have the trainers guide you on what workout to do for the day, and then leave once you are done. No real need to think about what to do, they just tell you. Helps a lot with consistency knowing all I need to do is just show up for my scheduled gym time. Highly recommend this gym if you are looking to join one :)

The prospect of joining a gym always gives me some pause, thinking it will end up another failed resolution to start the new year and a series of excuses to not show up. However, I decided to bite the bullet during COVID and GLSC has been a breath of fresh air. The owners and trainers are great, the workouts are interesting and varied, and with all the heavy lifting theres a good bit of time spent on stretching and correct technique as well. Also, theyve been able to pivot quickly during the pandemic to keep members healthy and abide by any new restrictions put in place by the city. Being an open-air gym is great!

The coaches are attentive to proper form and (nicely) correct me when I’m doing movements wrong. The other members share a range of abilities that make me feel like I’m in the right place-some way stronger than I am (inspiring) and others who are either very similar to me (Lets see if I can get a couple more reps than they can) or less experienced (makes me feel like I’ve made progress over time). I love the open garage doors for ventilation! I hope they stay open even if and when covid is over. There’s something very satisfying about working out outside or partially outside even on rainy, cold days.

Green Lake Strength and Conditioning gym has been a really great experience so far personally. I started out with the initial on-ramp boot camp class, and that was great for getting a feel for the exercises that usually show up during the main Strength & Conditioning classes. They also have multiple apps that help you track what workouts youll be doing and when for each upcoming week (in addition whos coaching those classes), so things feel organized. The open air set up in combination with the safety precautions the gym has taken has made me feel more comfortable with working out at a gym amidst the pandemic. GLSC has really allowed me to continue challenging myself physically while allowing me to feel safe in terms of the pandemic, which I really appreciate. Both the owners, Nate and Kate, and all the coaches Ive interacted with (Patti, Tracy, Jaeger, Zeyab, Christian, Laura, Shaina) have been super friendly and knowledgeable when conducting their classes. Ive really enjoyed attending their fitness workouts, and theyve done great job in balancing creating a positive group workout environment with providing individual attention throughout the classes. In addition, this gym has a great community of people, and theres so many opportunities to engage in that way as well.Overall, Ive really liked attending classes at GLSC and looking forward to many more great workouts here. If youre interested in challenging yourself physically while getting high quality coaching and community, you should definitely check out GLSC.

If you’re looking for a fitness experience (calling it just a gym doesn’t feel like an accurate descriptor) in N. Seattle, look no further than GLSC. The space/facility itself is great—big, bright, open air, and particularly user friendly during the pandemic. While most other gyms closed down during the entirety of Summer 2020-Spring 2021 and while it might have been easy for GLSC to do the same, the gym (under new, wonderful ownership!) opened as soon as was safe/possible and was constantly making adjustments to comply with the Governor’s orders. This was no easy feat and speaks volumes about how much the owners/coaches care about members.I’ve been a member since 2016 and while some things have changed over the years, the coaching and community has always been a 10/10. The coaches have different styles, but are all top notch, encouraging, and are always offering individualized feedback, even in a group setting. All workouts are truly scalable, and in addition to offering a great workout while in the gym, the programming has helped me outside the gym—making me a stronger all-around athlete. If you want to come in, put your head down, get a workout in and leave, you can. Or, if you want to come in, meet great people, and make it a social experience, you can do that too. As a giant, unexpected bonus, I’ve been lucky enough to make lifelong friends as a member. Join this community and support a small, well-managed local business. You won’t regret it.

1. I couldnt imagine trying to keep a business open this past year w/having to jump through multiple hoops just to stay open. GSLC did a great job in communicating gov. changes to members and in being accommodating as possible (polling the members, etc...)2. Coaches pay attention to form. Programming is great/thoughtful if youre looking for good workouts that dont leave you banged up, but are still effective. There is a lot of emphasis on developing those smaller stabilizers and building strength before moving into more complex movements (snatches, muscle-ups, etc). Workouts are always modifiable for any fitness level. Programming was still varied/fresh, despite having to workout outside in the dead of winter with rain, sleet, snow. If youre looking for a competitive CrossFit gym, and want to go to regionals, then its probably not the gym for you. They are upfront about this during new member orientation. I cant speak to the personal training programs, however3. The owner, Nate, checks in occasionally and is always looking for feedback. I definitely appreciate this4. I joined GLSC July 2020, yes during the pandemic! The gym is open on 3 sides and has several stations where you can stay exclusively outside for your workout, that made me feel comfortable enough to sign up mid-COVID. What kept me coming back was 1) the cleanliness of the gym and their COVID protocols, I felt very safe 2) the coaches / instructors that create a compelling yet low-ego workout environment and 3) the friendly members and owners that foster an inclusive community feeling. I kept going until I was 8.5 months pregnant and the coaches did a great job showing me how to modify exercises and keeping an eye on me to ensure I wasnt doing any movements that would cause injury. Speaking of the coaches, I love that GLSC has so many coaches who are women on staff, that is honestly my favorite part! :-) At my last class before taking a break to have my baby, Nate the owner surprised me with the cutest little Onsie for my baby. Those are the small gestures that really set this gym apart in my opinion. My husband and I have talked about moving farther out of Seattle but I say I cant because I dont want to leave the gym - it took me 10 years of going to various gyms before I found and fell in love with GLSC! Greenlake Strength and Conditioning was and continues to be one of my highlights during the pandemic. Greenlake Strength and Conditioning kept close to the State regulators to stay open and kept us all safe with strict guidelines on mask wearing, equipment cleaning and social distancing. It’s hard to not over emphasize how important fitness is to the body and mind during the pandemic. Sitting for 8-10 hours per day on non-stop calls, the workouts are the highlight of the days I had to time to go. It’s the only time my body feels fully alive.GLSC does an amazing job warming us up and getting my blood flowing with great workouts, always varying and challenging. Fitness has many benefits that you see listed everywhere in the news and social media, but there is one specific example I want to discuss. This Winter I was in 3 serious sports accidents (non-Crossfit). All impacting my left shoulder. Similar accidents I’ve witnessed like mine had injuries that lead to surgery or major rehab. Even though my accidents were similar, I only had minor PT rehab to get me back to GLSC in a short time. I credit the fitness that GLSC has given me, to escape these accidents with minor impact to my physical well-being. At the end of the day, everyone needs to exercise, but what a better way to do it in a fun and safe environment, varying challenging workouts and great coaches that really care and pay attention to your well-being. Greenlake Strength is the place and I highly recommend you give it a try.

Northwest CrossFit is my favorite gym in Seattle!I first signed up for a membership at NWCF 3 years ago before taking a (long) break. During that time, I tried many, many other gyms and fitness classes (HIIT, functional fitness, personal training, etc.) in the Seattle area. While they were all cool in their own ways, I always hit a wall where I didnt feel as though there was much room for growth. It was only about a month ago that I returned to CrossFit, so I bought a pack of individual classes at NWCF and jumped back in.Coaches: I was nervous for my first class, but all my fears were squashed immediately by the coaches. Theyre all amazing, knowledgeable, caring people who will remember your name and welcome you to each class. No one is invisible or nameless at NWCF, and believe me, thats rare at most fitness classes! The coaches take time to get to know each person, and you can tell they want everyone to improve and progress through the skills at their own pace. Best of all, theyre always encouraging while emphasizing safety and proper form.Classes: Each class is an hour, during which time youre led through a very thorough warm-up tailored to the WOD (injury prevention!), followed by skill work, and then the WOD. I noticed theres a pattern to the workout programming each week, so one day might be all about calisthenics, while other days will utilize barbells/dumbbells/kettlebells. Personally, I like knowing I can expect barbell work on Tuesdays (for example) so that I can plan other physical activity around my NWCF workout. One thing thats great is the variety of programming! Youll never be bored at NWCF! One thing I have to mention is the scaleability of NWCFs WODs. Im pretty much a newbie when it comes to CrossFit skills, so I really appreciate that all of the workouts are scaleable. Theres absolutely no pressure to be an expert right out of the gate because theres always room to progress from wherever you are on your fitness journey. One last thing: if you like to prepare yourself mentally for the next days WOD, theyre posted on TrainHeroic (website/app) the afternoon before.Gym: Honestly, I cant think of a cooler training spot that NWCF. The first thing youll notice is the floor-to-ceiling, clear, sliding garage windows on 3 walls of the gym. When classes are in session, all 3 walls can be raised for extra ventilation and a really modern, open-space vibe. People whove seen or been to NWCF unanimously say its a really cool building. Inside, youll find an expansive array of equipment organized neatly to maximize the space. Its pretty rad to workout at NWCF and its a great location, in my opinion. Parking: limited on-site but plenty of free street parking.Atmosphere: Its only been a month since I started going to classes, but NWCF already feels like a community. Im an introvert, but I found myself becoming more and more comfortable here. The owner, Jake, is very friendly and welcoming, and you can tell he truly cares about each and every person. NWCF definitely isnt a globo-gym, and Jake, the coaches, and all the members have created a safe, friendly, super chill place to workout and engage with the Seattle community. In addition, NWCF regularly has community-building events, which are a chance to get to know other members and usually contribute to a good cause.TLDR: NWCF has a fantastic coaching team ready to get you started with CF or help you improve if you already have a solid CF foundation. The classes are challenging and scaleable for people of all abilities. Its a cool space to workout in and you wont find a better gym community in Seattle. Curious or undecided? Everyone gets one week of classes for free!

I just finished my first month at NW Crossfit and I am really enjoying my experience from top to bottom. Two things I notice right off the bat is the coaches and the community.I have had experience with Crossfit gyms in the past, but still the NWCF coaches did a really awesome job cuing up technique and explaining all the movement. I felt very comfortable with all the lifts/movements by the time I completed the 2 weeks beginner series. The coaches do a great job of welcoming everybody to each class helping them get through the work outs. They knew when to push and encourage people, but also made sure to help less experienced members and beginners modify lifts and movements. No matter what level of athlete, everyone walked out with a great workout, and it was actually a lot of fun. I think that says a lot about the quality of coaches/people they have working at their gym. After the 2 week series, I started taking regular classes during the week. My schedule is all over the place, so its nice they have ton of different class schedules.Even being new, I always feel welcomed when I work out. The coaches are always ready to teach, and Ive noticed the members do a great job of working together as well. I saw some of the top athletes working out right next to an old lady (no offense old lady), and both were getting after it. What Im saying is, I can see how people can be intimidated by the sport, the lifts, the people, but I never felt that way over the past month. I think that says a lot about the community/people that are members at their gym.Im looking forward to more classes at NW Crossfit. Im already seeing changes in fitness and strength. Each class has something new, so there is no getting tired of the same old work out. Im even working on getting my wife to come to the gym, shes never lifted a barbell in her life, but with the coaches and culture over at the gym, I know shell have fun and we can enjoy getting stronger together.

I have been a member for 4 months now (2 month bootcamp and 2 month Crossfit), and the reason I eventually enrolled in the real deal, aside from personal goals, are the hospitable coaches. They remember you right from week one of bootcamp and try to know everyones names despite having 20 people at one time. Also they would always try to correct your form as they go around the class which are doing the WOD or even ask you to downgrade your weight if it sacrifices your body form. Correct form is the basic principle for every single Crossfit workout! The bootcamp is a perfect way to get started with Crossfit or getting in shape in general, the only difference is you wont play with barbells. While the workouts written on the board may seem overwhelming at first, eventually if you can get through it, you are actually a perfect fit for Crossfit (no pun intended)! Also if you cant do the prescribed weight, scale to your best ability (everyones doing it!) and its just fine to pause a couple seconds. At one time, theyd also open consultation sessions regarding your future fitness goals, so its definitely something you should not miss. The camaraderie that is well known among the Crossfit boxes is not really forced; youll get encouragement once in a while from each other during the WOD, but if you would rather not do small talks (Im an introvert), its still just fine. As for the paleo diet that Crossfitters are crazy about, other than a chart beside the front desk, no one talks about it. And regarding the numbers on the board, don’t be discouraged if you are not yet at the highest ranges; it takes time and lots of practice to get there! The membership on the paper is of course, more expensive than global gyms (though bootcamp is cheap). But for most importantly, the personalized service and variable & intense workouts to strengthen every single muscle on your body, its a reasonable deal, that is IF you do come frequently.

I have been attending sessions at Northwest CrossFit in Greenlake for 4 months and I have nothing but good things to say. The first thing that impressed me was that my name was remembered right away from the very first boot camp class. This is in stark contrast to many competitor gyms where you feel virtually invisible and ultimately forgettable. The coaches at NWCF take the time to know you personally. The second thing that impressed me was that their coaches are actually coaches. NWCF takes education seriously and their boot camp is more than just getting you in physical shape for open classes; they spend 18 one-hour classes teaching you skills in a logical and progressive way that truly prepares you to take on bigger challenges. Coaches should facilitate learning, not just supervise or call out instructions.Third, the coaches are actually knowledgeable people. I was impressed from my very first week by the coaches who took time to explain muscle groups, structures, and how to activate different areas. When I developed an unrelated injury, they gave me great suggestions on how to modify some exercises and strengthen the supporting muscles.Fourth, the culture at NWCF is really supportive and inclusive. Its neither a fashion show or a gathering of meat heads; its a bunch of average people just doing their best. There is diversity in ages, ethnicities, sizes and shapes, and no matter what ability you start at, the coaches are very encouraging. I never feel embarrassed about not being able to climb a rope or do a pull-up; there are plenty of people of all levels in the classes. Before each component of the workout, the coaches do a demo with often 3-4 progressively difficult modifications to match exercises to different abilities. Furthermore, the other members are really nice and welcoming both in and out of classes. You get a sense that everyone here wants you to have a good time.Membership is expensive which might be the only downside to NWCF, but I justify it this way: this is the most welcoming gym and enjoyable classes Ive ever attended. I would rather pay more for something I love and will frequently use than pay less and never feel fully satisfied. Many of their competitors are charging similar prices but providing a quarter of NWCFs value. After two years of searching in the Greenlake area, I feel like finally found my fit fam.

Staff is incredibly rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. I would give them zero stars if it were an option!

Unfortunately overcrowded, exercises werent consistently created by the same coach causing overlap and muscle fatigue. Community was cliquie very common Seattle vibe.
