Love this team. Even with COVID and the hospital not allowing visitors, I have felt very informed about my husbands care. They call, do rounds and are very caring. I appreciate the health care workers out there who are willing to keep going to work during these terrible times. Jayne is so nice I appreciate her calls. Thank you doctors and nurses. This hospital is wonderful. No one should doubt the care they will receive here. I definitely recommend this hospital!

To all the staff; from the front door security, to the case manager, the director of nursing and all the professionals who provide altruistic love to the patients EVERY DAY. I express my utmost gratitude for what you have done and would love to tell the world of the compassion and caring that you provide. Thank you. Thank you, for what you do. My loved one was in no better care ever, than with you. As a care provider myself, I know that there is no other team that have the level of BEST that you all have. With my heartfelt appreciation, all of my gratefulness to you.

Most of their newest reviews in the past year are fake. They trying to clean up their online image. So please do not be fooled. They are the worst healthcare professionals at this facility. Neglectful, terribly uneducated, ignorant staff. Just read the Yelp reviews. Please do not put yourself or your loved one through the nightmare of choosing this so called “rehabilitation hospital”. Me and countless others have been put through unimaginable circumstances because of the pure idiocy of this place. My husband died because of their neglect, many others have to. Do your research. Don’t do it. You’ll regret it.

I love this hospital. They took excellent care of my cousin. The nurses, rehab team, and administration. One of the administrators came to see me and my cousin. Something about rounding. They asked us how we are doing and if we needed anything. How neat is that. We never got this elsewhere. Please say thank you to this amazing team. I loved the doctors and the pharmacist. I can’t remember her name but she was great. Thank you again!!!

Not one day in my life have i ever thought that hospitals will throw you out on to the curb even when you aren’t capable of taking care of your self. my uncle went into this hospital with one injury, an open wound on his back. he was kept in this hospital for 2 years. you would think one open wound would be be fixed in 2 years right ? wrong. this hospital did not take care of my uncle at all. they let his wound get worse, and they even allowed a wound in his heel to occur. after the wound in his heel occurred, he then got an infection in his wound which has now lead to them needing to amputate it. instead of contacting any of this family about this issue, they decided that it would be perfectly fine to send him in a cab WITH his injuries including not being able to walk or take care of himself and send him to a homeless shelter. if it wasn’t for the shelter he would’ve been left on the road to die. he is now being cared for at a new hospital. this is illegal and there should be a stop put to these people actions. they’re are cold hearted people who do not deserve to have the job that they have. i do not recommend this hospital at all

My father is a patient here, and the nursing staff has been wonderful! They are so kind, and gentle. Ive been with both my parents to many hospitals in the past. Nurses are often overworked, underappreciated, and sometimes that affects how they treat the patients. But the ones at Kindred are always so compassionate, and careful! Im happy my dad is in such good hands. Thank you for the great job everyone!!

COVID has changed how we all have to interact and conduct business; but when it comes to health and well being, some things are unacceptable.  Around Jan 12th my uncle called and said he was being discharged from Kindred hospital in Seattle. I was shocked to hear that because he has an open wound on his back, a diabetic requiring insulin shots (not a requirement for a hospital but extra care is needed), and also an infection on his heel. I talked to multiple staff members and they all said  he was fine and would be transported to a homeless shelter.  I called the Seattle homeless shelter and they said that he would not be able to stay there because of their care restrictions.  I then called back to Kendrick Hospital and demanded that someone look at his injuries closer. The specialist said that the infection was in fact gangrene and was getting worse.  How could they tell me that he was up walking around fine when a person has gangrene, discoloration, and an odor coming from their foot. He was then seen at Harborview which they also found and confirmed that he does have gangrene and recommended amputation below his knee.  My uncle is now going to lose his leg, AT THE AGE OF 57; because this facility failed to treat his wounds.  Three weeks later I found out that they decided there was nothing else they could do for him, and they made the decision to discharge him again.  He still needed to have the amputation, and was unable to walk. I called the case worker Kelly they kept saying that he does not meet their requirementsfor care.  I then called Shannon (who i believe is Chief Director) who said the same thing and said they are sending them to Tacoma Rescue Mission; which is a homeless shelter.  The shelter told me they only offer a bed and food for the night, but must leave in the morning. Please keep in my mind my Uncle has open wounds, cannot walk, and requires a leg amputation.  I tried to reach Shannon and Kelly immediately. The response I got back was a text from Kelly “he left the building.” Can you imagine someone simply sending you a txt like that! Not knowing for sure where he is going, was he in an ambulance, a shuttle, or what.  To give you a little more insight: I spoke with the staff at the shelter and they told me that this happens all the time; its terrible.  Hospitals and care facilities in the area have patients dropped off on a regular basis.  Some are dropped at the bottom of the hill and the ones that can’t make it to the door end up staying out there until someone sees them. I would like to personally thank the homeless shelter staff in tacoma.  When they realized that he could not stay there, they redirected the cab to the nearest hospital in Tacoma where he could get the care he needed.  The shelter staff was able to tell me the name of the cab he was in and where it was going to.  Thank you SO much Tacoma Rescue Mission!  I appreciate what you do for our community and the risks you all take.  As I said the reason I am writing this is because I DO NOT want this to happen to any of your loved ones that are at this facility.  Regardless of COVID this should never happen.

This place left my mother dying. She was unconscious in a coma and they never let us factime her for over 2 months followed by a death. Our family is heart broken and after she passed away, we saw her body deteriorated and basically was skin and bones. To see your young mom end her life this way was so heartless. Please do not send anyone here as the communicate is awful and they never followed through with anything. Just a ton of broken promises and always saying they were too busy. The communication is by far the worst I have witnessed.

My uncle was suppose to be admitted on Friday, I drove over there 2 half hours to sign his paperwork. The lady who was handling his admissions was gone already and no other person could assist me. He was in the facility over the weekend and not officially admitted. The gentleman who was assigned to work at the entrance desk could use some customer service training, this is suppose to be a hospital. He was verbally loud, his stance was unwelcoming aggressive and very unfriendly. He Crossed arms while standing, he seemed to be trying to be intimidating.I hope this facility is a good place for my uncle. I read the reviews and had reservations about placing him here but had only had 3 options..due to his medical needs this one, one in Spokane and the other in portland. I visited him on his first day in the facility, he had been there about 2 1/2 hours he was in bed his room was not set up, the nurse had to dig around in the items sent from the hosp to find items needed to deal with his medical needs. He wasnt being fed yet it seemed unorganized. The nurse was nice and friendly.I called on monday to be included in the care conference for my uncle and am waiting for contact.

This place was very un organized, nurses (although friendly) were not guided or directed in a way that was effective. Saw multiple people suffering due to neglect. We needed someone there to offer basic needs that kept getting missed. Nursing staff was very under staffed. The CEO and other staff that we had to meet with multiple times did nothing but say words to get us out of the office. His rehab was missed almost every day we were not there to make sure it happened due to not enough time, or he was too tired... His call light was ignored, turned off, and set away from him every day. So messed up that places get away with being run in this way.

Kindred Hospital is a wonderful place full of dedicated and caring staff. I had the pleasure of working here for 3 years and had I not moved on towards a different career path I would gladly still work there. I have seen remarkable journeys of rehabilitation and healing at the hands of the skilled providers and professionals. Truly a special place.

Kindred lets their delivery drivers, and anyone else, park ON the sidewalk or along terry avenue, neither of which are legal parking spaces. this creates a dangerous situation for pedestrians, especially since horizon house (senior living) is across the street. shameful. ive complained to them buy they never respond. hope this terrible place goes bankrupt.

Traveling agent here. Im not a patient but I work closely with the SAU unit. From the dozens of facilities Ive seen across WA state, Kindred First Hill is truly one of the best Ive seen. The staff is wonderful, patients are the number one priority (unfortunately, this must be said because this is not the case everywhere), the facility is kept clean, theres on-call doctors, PT is there every weekday, Ive seen true results and patients discharged on a very consistent basis, and its organized. I say this with the most unbiased opinion possible. As a traveling agent, I refrain from leaving reviews, especially if the facility is bad, but I had to put in a good and honest word here. I highly recommend.

The WORST. Upon admission the room was filled with garbage from another patient, dirty diapers in the bathroom. Val the admissions coordinator claimed that all of my loved ones equipment was placed in the room but upon arrival the room was empty and all of the nurses had no clue what was going. Not a very comforting after the hospital sent over records to have no one know anything about the patient and demonstrate no capability. No dinner was offered the first night, so upon asking about it no one had answer and kept deferring to the next person until one nurse suggested ordering GrubHub delivery. I had no idea that I could get a low sodium mechanical soft diet through GrubHub. There was a willingness to address and work on the issues which was appreciated but there was always the sense that you were being placated in a very condescending way. If you look at Yelp, they have deleted and hidden reviews that were legit and offered a serious look at what this place is really like. I find this very dishonest. I mentioned one of the reviews to the staff and within a week it had been deleted. Several patient family members spoke with me in the cafeteria and told me they were afraid to complain due to retribution. One lady told me about her mother being left in her own excrement for over 3 hours. Another told me about her daughter being verbally abused by nurses. Yet another told me about their father begging for help and then being left on his own which resulted in a fall while two nurses couldnt be bothered to look away from personal chit chat. My experience with the nursing staff wasnt terrible. The doctors have a chip on their shoulder, and will dismiss any suggestions or important information you might have. My real issues are with the administration. The level of fake going on is disturbing. Theyre all sociopaths. Particularly their case worker Yaffa Cohen. She has a god complex and thinks shes above the law. She makes up lies and presents them as truths and if you question her behavior she exacts retribution by sabotaging your loved ones discharge orders so they end up in the hospital again. True story. Buyer beware, stay away from this place at all costs. You arent going to be well cared for and chances are you will end up right back in the real hospital due to their neglect and incompetence.
