Excellent experience. Alex was very personable and seemed to know exactly how to make me feel welcomed. Dr Raber listened to my concerns and had wonderful empathy for my fear of dental work. The procedure was totally painless, and Dr R constantly checked with me to make sure I was comfortable. Brittany (and checkout) was simple. I really felt like I was part of the family.

This was simply the best dental experience I have ever had. I am a recent transplant from Chicago, and I was treated so kindly during the entirety of my visit. I felt like I had a personal connection to both my hygienist and my dentist, and was honestly a little sad when I had to go back to work. My teeth were professionally cleaned with no pain, and I got a number of good suggestions on how to keep my teeth healthy for many years to come. Even though I know Friday is a busy day overall, I never felt rushed in my treatment or neglected. Excited to have found my permanent dentist office!

You are just a name in a database. You will never see the same hygenist and you will never see the same dentist. Youll also schedule your appointment and come time for them to confirm it, it will magically be on a different day or at a different time than when you scheduled it for. Dont go here.

I had a great experience at Modern Dentistry. They were on time, efficient, and honest with my treatment options. The place was up to date as the name implies and extremely clean. My dentist, Dr.Makkar was gentle and quick and the rest of the staff were kind and informative. Overall excellent experience.

Jessica Raber was the worst dentist Ive ever seen. Makes patients wait while she socializes, rushes through her work, and then refuses to correct her mistakes. She left holes in my teeth from drilling and then refused to fix them. Terrible attitude and an absolute pain to deal with. Last time I was there they charged $100 for mouthwash which they call dental irrigation, which was later recalled for a bacterial contamination. GROSS. The most she could offer was a refund. Less of a dentist and more like a princess who just throws money at the mistakes she doesnt want to deal with. Waste of time and money.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Raber and her team! They made me feel extremely comfortable and I trusted all of their recommendations. I wish I read the previous reviews before I went here for cleaning. They pulled out some cement from my fillings leaving a noticeable hole & questions if it ever happen there including the doctor. This was the most unorganized place and every time I called there was a new employee who did know what they were doing or could not simply read the file. The male attendant who took me back asked me what I was here for? I was stunned when he did not know and he rose his voice shouting back at me on why I was there. He also pulled up my file and denied what I was there for a repair. He stated We are busy today! The odd thing is that the front desk just confirmed twice on what I was there for when I arrived for a repair they caused damaged on. They were also the ones who contacted me to come on in. So the doctor tried to refill the cement but could not do the job still leaving a gap in my front teeth and she had the nerve to tell me Im seeing something else, when its been in my mouth for the last 15 years. This can be considered as a disfigurement on someones appearance. Unbelievable man! Unbelievable

Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Raber! It felt like I was being treated by a good friend. She was very kind, warm, and helpful explaining my dental health and suggested treatment. They showed me the exact breakdown of my insurance coverage and potential costs so that I could make the best decision for myself regarding what treatments to receive. I highly recommend this place, specially Dr. Raber.

Patient-first, friendly, clean, quick. I grew up going to the same dentist for years, and of course was hesitant to commit to any new one. After reviewing several in the Seattle area, I felt confident this was the right switch. Dr. Raber exceeded all expectations. Beyond the seamless logistics -- easy appointment making and a rigid commitment to start appointments on time -- Ive had issues with enamel wearing / crowns that no prior dentist, prior to this one, had been able to fix. Dr. Raber heard my concerns, operated efficiently, and sent me on my way pain-free, offering that I come in any time if any discomfort resurfaces. Most of all, it was the first time I had an actually PLEASANT experience at a dentist office! Dr. Raber operates with a patient-first mentality 100% of the time -- will be sticking with your team!!!! Dr Raber has been my dentist for approx 5ish years and she is easily the nicest dentist (as well as genuine human) I have ever had work on my teeth. I’m always terribly anxious about finding a new dentist whenever we move - I have been lucky to not have problems with my teeth - but I worry someone will want to do unnecessary fixes or push things I don’t want. She never has. The pandemic found me clinching at night and the enamel on several of my upper and lower teeth had begun to erode next to the gum line leaving discolored, exposed areas. I have been so nervous about this problem (didn’t realize the genesis) and worried about losing all the enamel on my teeth. Dr Raber suggested a night guard to stop me doing this (thank you - definitely helped!) but didn’t push anything else. I asked if she could apply filler to the areas to protect them and hide the obvious indentations. She said yes but was reticent because those areas have nothing to really grab onto and over years will likely flake off as well. Covering those areas was very important to me - I’d rather have the filler flake off than more enamel! - and assured her I was aware that it might not last but I’d like to try it. She did a beautiful job! Within a couple of hours, I couldn’t tell they weren’t entirely my own teeth and my insurance luckily covered most of it as well. It’s been almost 3 months and they’re still holding up! Thanks again to Dr Raber (you’re awesome!) and the lovely Tatum who helped me get my teeth back:)

This place has changed my entire attitude and relationship with dentistry. I have been putting off getting care for years due to high dental anxiety and ended up with a fair amount of work needing done. I was recommended Ballard Modern Dentistry by two of my friends who said they are great with anxious patients like me, so I finally decided to schedule an appointment after years of avoidance. Dr. Raber and her team are top notch, very talented, and just nice friendly people. The work I’ve gotten done - cleanings, root canals, crowns (you know, the works for someone who was negligent like myself) - has been incredible. Somehow I’m actually relaxed in the chair which I never thought would happen for me. The facility is nice and modern and all the dental technology is cutting edge. It has been nice to have full trust in a dentist and to be able to be calm. I look forward to continuing my care here, and I’m proud to say they’ve helped me get over my dental anxiety and avoidance. Thanks Dr. Raber!! Also the music is great.

Dr. Raber is the most genuine, kind, personable, gentle and caring dentist I’ve ever seen. I first found her after having recently moved; I had several cavities and no dental insurance. BMD had extremely reasonable prices (better than those in the southern ‘burbs of Seattle), and Dr. Raber was amazing and understanding of my fear of needles. She also guided me to get a night guard for my severe bruxism (teeth grinding). It relieved my headaches and saved my teeth. I’m forever in her debt; she is the reason I drive 45 minutes each way to get dental care.

I was never a fan of military dentists. I mean, who is? So when I came home, I put off going to see one for a few years. Until recently, a friend of mine suggested Ballard Modern Dentistry. She had had a really good experience and said the staff and doctors are really nice people. She convinced me to give it a try. To my surprise my first appointment was awesome! Everyone was really kind, it was clean, and best of all it wasn’t a military dentist.I had scheduled a follow up appointment to take care of a few issues, which ended up being cancelled due to the pandemic. Which is totally understandable. Three weeks ago I made a new appointment and was actually looking forward to it! When I arrived today, after a 45 minute drive from up north, I was informed that my insurance, Delta Dental, hasn’t been a contracted partner of theirs since 2018. Interesting.My first question, if they had not accepted Delta Dental for two years, how was I able to schedule an appointment in the first place when they had all of my insurance information? My second question, why didn’t I receive a phone call informing me that my insurance wasn’t excepted?Needless to say, I am disappointed, frustrated, and angry. They had won me over and then completely dropped the ball.They may have started out well in the beginning, but the level of expertise, customer service, and care for their patients has fallen well below anything that could be considered acceptable.I’ll take the military dentist over Ballard Modern Dentistry any day.

First time back to a dentist in several years, so I was nervous. The team at BMD was excellent during the whole visit! They provided explanations around cost of work prior to doing it. Additionally, Dr Han and the staff were very caring during the check-up process, providing explanations along each step and translating the dental jargon as we went along. Decisions were easy to make and we were able to set-up a care plan going forward.

I have been extremely happy about my experience here at Ballard Modern Dentistry. Dr. Raber is the sweetest, extremely personable and professional dentist I’ve ever met. Since I started going to this office after healthcare centers started opening up, I have not had the opportunity to see anyone without a mask. Even so, I can tell everyone has a smile on underneath. I feel a piece of a wisdom tooth still stuck in my jaw almost pocking though the skin and a crown fell out less than 2 years after being put in. Do not go here. Trust your old school dentist. Not a modern dentistry

Shout out to Dr. Ra for the fabulous veneers! Love them so much. Youre in good hands with her! Not to mention the time I came in for an emergency issue right before a flight - they squeezed me in and got me fixed up within the time frame I needed and I didnt miss my flight.

Like most people I’m not a fan of going to the dentist, but my experience here was nothing short of amazing. They made me feel totally comfortable and welcomed. They were very attentive every step of the way. They did a very thorough exam and cleaning and went over all the options available to me, from procedures to financing. It was an excellent experience considering it was a dentist office.

I had an excellent experience at this dentist. I called to make an appointment because I had a very swollen operculum (basically a gum protrusion near my wisdom tooth). They got me in for an appointment 1-hour after I called. I was immediately comfortable with the dentist, Dr. Raber, and she did an excellent job of walking me through my options for treatment. I also appreciated how they walked me through the cost of everything before I decided on a treatment. Overall, I was able to get the swollen operculum laser removed that same day and felt SO much better afterwards. Im very grateful for the speedy, informative, and friendly service here. Ill definitely be back!

I have been going to Modern Dentistry for over 2 years now and cannot say enough good things about this office! First off, my Hygienist Rani is AMAZING. Not only is she super thorough with her cleanings, I feel like I learn something new each time I come in about how to better care for my teeth. She is super easy going and you can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and what she’s doing. Second, the front office team is absolutely top notch. Thuy always gets me checked in and out super fast and I always understand what I owe. Finally, the doctors and dental assistants here are all incredible and will truly make you want to never go to any other dental practice again!

For someone who had a lot of dental work to get done, I couldnt have picked a better place. The staff was friendly, fun, and professional. The dental assistants did a great job to anticipate my needs each time. Dr. Lopez was great - patient, communicative, attentive, and had a great attention to detail. I felt like my needs as a patient were put first, and this made me feel very comfortable and trusting. I highly recommend this place.

I have been going to Ballard Modern Dentistry for several years. I can now say with a high confidence level that this is a high-volume, up-sell dental shop. From the time you check in (and have to sign three (3) contracts EVERY time you visit to protect Ballard Modern Dentistry from lawsuits) to having to fight back hygienists recommendations for unnecessary up-sell procedures (fluoride varnish! deep cleanings! dental irrigations! come in every four months!) this is just not a science-driven dental office with the patients best interest at hand.Unless you have lots of time and money and want to throw every possible treatment (although scientifically questionable), choose a different dentist.

Im really happy with my experience here. My appointment started right on time and their equipment and procedures are a lot more advanced than the last place I went to. Dr. Ra is great, very friendly and personable. She explained everything she did, why, and what it meant for me, and I really felt like she cared about what was right for me and that I understood everything.Before I moved forward with a suggested cleaning she had the front desk folks talk to me, and they brought a breakdown of what the costs would be and what part my insurance would cover so I could make the decision easily. I also spoke to them about wisdom teeth removal for a future date, and they brought me a breakdown of those costs as well.Overall, impressed with the effort they make to make costs transparent to you, impressed with how everyone I interacted with seemed knowledgeable and confident, and impressed with how kind and relatable Dr. Ra was.

My wife had a first visit with BMD and they saw her despite a late arrival as she had some delays getting out the door with my daughter.I had what I thought was a billing issue where we were getting charged for x-rays and frustrated by it for a moment... I spoke with Brittany, the office manager, and she was super professional about walking me through the billing process and why my Explanation of Benefits reflected what it did. I appreciate the professionalism, Brittany and we look forward to be a continued patient.

I went there twice, both times my visit took over 2 hours. My dental assistant was amazing, and so kind, I hate to give them such a low rating but they clearly didn’t care about my time. After my second visit, I explained I really needed to get back to work after being in the chair for over 2 hours, for a check-up, and they said someone would give me a call with what I needed to do going forward and what took priority and essentially a game plan for future dental care. No one ever called. It’s comical they keep sending me promotional flyers/ paperwork, when no one actually contacted me regarding my future needs.

They are pretty much just a scheme to make money. I absolutely would not go there.Even went on a unsuccessful tinder date with a girl who worked there and she said she was appalled by their practices.I brought up concerns about grinding my teeth and they completely ignored me and told me I was crazy until the next appointment when I was told Whoa, looks like you are really grinding your teethI would rate them 0 out of 5 and un-list them from google if the choice was available to me.

I went here to get my fillings redone. I called them and gave my social and my insurance beforehand. When I showed up at the appointment, they spent 45 minutes trying to verify my insurance even though a 2 minute call to the service provider with the number they gave me was enough when I tried it. I had to get my crown replaced and they seemed to do an okay job until I started feeling pain for more than a couple of days. Ten days later and experiencing constant pain, I went back to them and it turns out they left a lot of the cement in that was used to do the crown and that caused the gums on my whole upper right to be inflamed. I spent 45 minutes getting cement crudely removed while being constantly injected with local anesthesia. I did not get a genuine apology for the shoddy job done. The trauma caused my teeth to pain for weeks.I paid the reminder that my insurance didnt cover, about 450 dollars, after I was done with the initial crown replacement. I asked for a receipt by email, which they didnt send me. They called back a month later saying that I didnt pay the dues in full and needed to pay 100 bucks more. The worst dental experience I could think of, would never go again.

I started as a new patient here within the last week. Dr Shin was forthright with his assessment and suggestions. He and the dental assistant were quite helpful and threw in a good amount of humor, too. My appointment didnt feel rushed--which was surprising as I could hear Dr Shin making stops at other rooms, without missing a beat. I was impressed.

Ive been terrified of seeing a dentist after my childhood and military experiences. I had a visit yesterday for an abscess where the tooth needed to be extracted. Dr. Esther Ra provided the most sincere and compassionate experience I have ever had. Things got tough because of my own bad habits, but she helped me over come my fears. I am so happy Ballard Modern Dental opened up right down the street from where I live. Ive been looking for a dentist for a couple months now, and came across this office as I was walking around. I stopped in to see if they were accepting new patients. Not only did they get me right in for a cleaning, but they accept my insurance!!!This place has all the modern touches I was looking for. Since moving from Boston, its hard to find a dentist that you like and trust. Dr. Raber was amazing!! I would recommend her to my friends and family.She took time to talk with me about cosmetic options and explained ways for me to have a whiter more confident smile. Look forward to work w her!! Great experience! First impression, this office is clean, updated, and so welcoming. I filled out my patient forms on an iPad and helped myself to a cup of hot tea. I was greeted by a young lady who promptly took my xrays and it was smooth sailing from there. Sophie Joe, the sweetest hygienist, calmed all of my nerves and made me feel at ease throughout my cleaning. Dr Raber saw me afterwards to answer a few questions I had regarding future procedures. She was genuinely attentive towards my concerns and answered everything I asked in a kind and reassuring manner. Everyone there was so friendly and knowledgeable. I would totally recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable dental visit!

On my first visit I had two employees make classist comments to me based on the fact that, being between jobs and living on a shoestring budget, I hadnt been able to afford dental insurance or a visit.After a recent cleaning, I left Ballard Modern Dentistry traumatized due to them causing me extreme pain, refusing me privacy and nitrous (I asked for both) and doing nothing to try and comfort me. When I later told them I wouldnt be coming back, and had filed a DOH complaint, Dr. Raber offered me a refund in exchange for cancelling/withdrawing my rightful complaint.Do not go to this place!

Scheduled a cleaning for December and had a very negative experience. First, they repeatedly told me how good my dental insurance was, which felt very odd as a patient. The dentist then conducted my exam and told me I had severe gum disease and recommended a deep cleaning which she tried to pressure me in to having same day. (I received a second opinion from a dentist family friend and was told that I had minimal gum disease.) When I told the dentist I would have to consider it, I had to sign a form confirming I was going against the dentists recommended treatment. I understand that would be necessary in some instances, but for a little gum disease? Really? They also tried to hard-sell me into getting my wisdom teeth out near-term, despite my concerns that I thus far had experienced no pain or infection from them.Im a bit embarrassed to report I did let them bully me into getting a deep clean the next day. The hygenist that numbed me accidentally numbed my throat as well, which was really uncomfortable. Then the deep cleaning itself took less than 15 minutes. Total I paid $135 out of pocket and poor Delta paid nearly $350 for less than 15 minutes of deep cleaning. It took me about 10 minutes to realize what I had received was NOT a deep cleaning in the truest sense, and was what my previous dentist did during typical cleanings. Due to my great insurance Ballard Modern Dentistry was able to cash in on a procedure that was a loose interpretation of a deep clean. I alerted Delta to the predatory practice of Ballard Modern Dentistry and feel that their business model predates on people (like me) that expect a certain level of integrity (not deception) from their healthcare providers. Avoid unless youre savvy enough to recognize a hard-sell when it happens.

Had maybe 5 minutes of face time with an actual dentist, during which she did not ask me about my dental goals or address the broken permanent retainer that gives me some trouble. When she asked if I wanted fluoride, I said I only wanted it if it was covered by my insurance. She said she would double check and get back to me and I never saw her again. I was ushered to another room by a technician, who said I will give you fluoride today, we will find it if it is covered by your insurance, and if not, this treatment will be on us. I thought this was a generous offer and agreed.After having received a letter from my insurance plan saying I owed a huge amount of money for this experience I was reasonably confused, but their office reached out immediately and rectified my confusion.All in all a good (but not great) dental experience. I may continue shopping till I find a dentist as amazing as the one I had in Madison WI, but that day may never come.

LOL- this place is a joke.I went in for a cleaning and they estimated me with the needs of $1600 treatments. Shortly after, I got TWO very reputable second opinions and they said that was the most extreme level of action and only 1 out of the 3 treatments really needed to be done, which would lower my costs to $100 only. In addition to this, there was a cavity call out, which my other dental offices said they both could NOT see.During my cleaning, it felt very rushed and unfinished and they didnt even give me anything to walk home with in terms of floss or a toothbrush without asking for it. I will give this place a charity case one star for their quality of technology that seemed very up-to-date. Beware of this place!

I recently broke a tooth pretty badly and immediately was dreading all the work and time I would need to fix it. Luckily, I found Ballard Modern Dentistry and they fit me into their schedule that afternoon. To my surprise, Dr. Jessica Raber was able to shape my tooth AND cement my final crown all in the same visit! I was so impressed with the modern technology they had at the office and the speed of the whole procedure. Dr. Raber was extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I would definitely recommend Ballard Modern Dentistry!

This is literally the worst dental office I have ever been to. I came in just for a cleaning and I had to wait 40 mins from when my appointment was scheduled until they finally got me in (mind you, zero other people were in the waiting room). Then I had to wait another 30 mins for the dentist to come to my room. Then another 20 minutes for some other hygienist to come and finish my cleaning after some one else had started it. Do not go here. Find another dentist covered by your insurance. Will not be coming back.

Seriously the best dentist Ive ever been to. Unlike most dentists who just get you in and hurry to get you out, Dr. Raber actually cares about you and how you feel. She is so nice and personable, she not only listens to things you tell her but she remembers them! She is so sweet and gentle. I went in because I had awful dry socket and tooth pain. She let me come in without an appointment, and checked on me the next day to see how I was feeling. How nice! Her front desk staff is really helpful and friendly. They are upfront about costs and will work with you if you cant pay it all upfront. I could go on and on. I highly recommend Dr. Raber, she is seriously the best dentist in town.

Im really pleased with my experience here. I went in as a new patient in August and unfortunately, was diagnosed with periodontal disease. I even had an 8mm pocket in an area where a cavity was fixed poorly and left my gums open for bacteria to hang out and wreak havoc. I was really upset about it, knowing periodontal disease can cause too many negative health issues. Especially because Im a religious flosser and brusher. Dr. Ra took care of the problem tooth cavity issue and did the scaling and root planing same day and instructed I get a water pick and come back 3 months later. I did just that and I am pleased to announce all of my gum pockets, even the one that measured an 8mm are no deeper than a 3. Im back to having 6 month visits. I plan to be a patient for life :)

Tried to push a mouth guard sale on me, but overall, I was pleased enough to come back.Second time was for a cleaning only and I now had insurance. I verified that it was a cleaning only-no exam. I was supposed to have my teeth cleaned by the hygenist, and they sat me in the hygenist room. But then they said they had to switch things up, and moved me to a different room where a dentist cleaned my teeth instead of the hygenist and then an assistant polished and flossed. The assistant was very unprofessional and missed about half of my teeth with the polishing because she was so distracted. And then instead of just a cleaning fee, they charged me for an exam as well as a host of other incidentals. When I got the bill, I called them to confront them about it and they said Well, your insurance covered it, so its not a problem. I explained that I had verbally requested no exam and just a cleaning by a hygenist only- and nothing else. But they said they couldnt refund it.If you have insurance, beware. They will try to nickle and dime the insurance for all its worth, whether you receive the services or not. And when I called to confront them, they acted like it was completely normal. I didnt like the dishonesty, and so will no longer give them my business.UPDATE: I just received a phone call from Brittany, the manager in charge of billing. She wanted to follow up on my review. She informed me that the man that had talked to me over the phone is actually no longer with the dentistry, & that he should have taken more care to resolve the issue when I called up about it in the first place. Brittany seemed to really care about the billing issue, and I really wish that she had been the person that had handled this issue before instead of the other guy. She also informed me that my insurance actually had declined to pay on the exam & cleaning, and that the dentistry had actually footed the bill since it was their mistake setting me up last minute with a brand new dentist of theirs that wasnt in network with my insurance. Much better experience on the phone with them this time, so thanks for taking the time to follow up, Brittany!

BMD is the best! Ive come here for multiple cleanings, x-rays and recently a nightguard fitting. The staff is so professional and friendly (Dr. Raber and Dr. Shin are great), the office is clean and modern, and I recommend them to anybody looking for a great dental office.

Dr. Raber has established an excellent dental practice. Well coordinated team that delivers compassionate care for dental cowards like myself. I appreciated how transparent their billing practices are and how hard they advocate for you with your insurance company. Their hygienists are outstanding. I was pleased how together with Dr. Raber they were able to repair the damage 10 years of neglect had wrought on my teeth.

I actually been here for almost 3 years, I dont like the way this business run. But since this place close to where I live, I decide to tolerent with it.1. You always need to wait for 30 min for the doctor to come, no exception, no matter if you arrive earlier or late.2. the doctor turn over rate for this clinic is high, they seems not happy and you never see the same doctor for twice.3. They force you to do x-ray, every year, even you say you dont have time or pregnancy, no excuse for not taking x-ray.Good thing:1. Never over charge me.2. Always have reminder a month/one week/one day before visiting3. Clean and newThe owner called me ask me to revisit the feedback. So keep in mind they will find your contact info somehow.

The whole process felt extremely impersonal, rushed, and without any care. I ended up walking out because the dentist requested that I have tons of work done that I felt was unnecessary. I have a crown that needs replacing (not urgent) and the doctor looped it in to other procedures without any explanation as to why it was important. Im glad I walked out because the doctor made me feel like I had absolutely no control over what happened in the office and I worry that if I had not spoken up, Id be left with a huge bill. When they break down the bill, they push you to finance the work that needs to be done rather than explaining each procedure and why its important. Not to mention my mouth is still sore over a day later when all that was done was x-rays.
