I submitted an application WEEKS ago and accidentally missed a phone call from them. They sent me an email which I responded to and left them a voicemail. Plus I called them every day of the week and they failed to respond in any way, shape, or form.Do NOT waste your time with them or they will constantly waste yours.

I have years of history with Seattle counseling services, and none of them were wasted. Good people. Now I think of Count, who was at the desk when I walked in exhausted and discouraged. I even needed help with the check in device, and he gave his help as cheerfully and kindly as he had greeted me. Hes got history there. I am grateful and glad. Im a little mobility impaired and this new building is not near a bus line that goes directly there from Capitol Hill. It created a problem for me. I had gotten a counselor that wasnt a good fit, and it had taken a long time for them to match me up with someone, but I think thats because of shortages due to covid and that it will improve. I didnt want to pay for a Lyft because of careful budgetary concerns, and Im hoping I can find an easier place to get to that can understand my coping mechanisms and semi-odd personality specially made by a history of more severe mental illness. I had liked them in the past because of their tendency not to think we should conform to societal values. Some of us couldnt - even if we tried.

As a disclaimer, I’m a white cis woman and afaik have dealt with other white cis women employees of SCS.My experience with SCS has been great. Everyone I’ve interacted with (the receptionist, intake person, and my counselor) have been really friendly and informative. It was probably a month from when I submitted my application to when I had my first session, and everything has been done by phone and video chat because of covid.I’ve knocked a star because sessions are only every other week, and it will apparently take several weeks before I can talk to someone about medication. I understand they have a huge caseload and that this is really more of a systemic issue rather than a problem with SCS’s service model— they want to serve as many people as possible and there isn’t enough structural support for that (ie, not other queer affirming places for folks on Apple health). But, even though I know it’s “not their fault” it is still frustrating for me as a client.

Everyone Ive dealt with is warm, accepting and helpful. Ive had two therapists in the time Ive been going there and Im really grateful for the supportive environment. Theyve really helped me explore who I am.

The people here are nice and well meaning, but its impossible to get an appointment. Theyve been sitting on a lack of a reminder service by phone or email for ages now and it feels like the front desk doesnt work with the therapists to coordinate appointments.I played phone tag with my therapist for 4 months before finally getting her. When I went in for an emergency appointment as well and had even said ahead of time how serious the topic was they paired me with someone who (again, was well meaning but) inexperienced and made a crisis far worse. The help I have gotten there when paired with a good therapist was great, but the lack of organization with appointments and communication is forcing me to move on.

Have been going to see a therapist since last April and I am happy I have. Elizabeth is a blessing and has helped me turn my life around. Thank you.

I felt unimportant and a bit discriminated against..I went in over a month ago to start seeing someone...it took them two weeks just to get me in for my basic intake, then I had to call THEM another nearly 2 weeks later to find out if I had been assigned to anyone, then the woman informs me that not only will it be yet ANOTHER 2 weeks before she can see me, but she will only be able to see me for 45 min every 2 weeks! It had already been well over a MONTH since I had gone in there asking for help! I felt that I had been placed at the bottom of the pile because Im just looking for help with depression and self-image...and not questioning my sexuality, am not trans-gendered or transitioning. It is very clear by their sign alone who they prefer to have as clientele, so if you are just looking for basic help and counseling go somewhere else....SCS specializes in the LGBT community and clearly shows favor.

Misleading info on website. If you dont actually take insurence thats LISTED on your website please remove it so no one else gets misleaded. Only reason why I even sent an application honestly.Edit: like I said I only sent an application because my insurence was listed. My insurence was listed in my application obviously. The lady called me back bringing up my old insurence? Like uh did you even look at my application? Then once I confirmed I didnt have that she asked me how much money I made. Which lol I dont know, doesnt matter I have insurence you guys take. She told me we arent taking that insurence right now, but we have a sliding scale. Nah.... why would I pay when its on your site. Big waste of time and disapointing. I dont like being lied to to. I suggest you change it.Also seems like your staff dont actually read the applications sent in since whoever looked at mine didnt get any information right. Interesting! If only she had read it properly, or if your website gave correct info, none of this would have happened.

Complete waste of time, if you read a bad review about the place its because they treat everybody who comes in there like an animal and with the assumption that youre too incompetent to make any decisions for yourself; public healthcare/medicaid it has to be this way because of the quality of people they have to deal with. I recommend just borrowing the $100 dollars from a friend and going to a REAL psychiatrist if you need to get your medications unless you have 2 or 3 months to waste. The truth is sad and ugly.

Not a big fan. Ive went through two therapist and Im finding them to be the same. They have HUGE patient loads and turn over appointments one after the other like a mill. The therapist sat down with me for our session not engaged nor having put any thought into the development of our conversation from the previous meeting. When I tried to approach a topic I would get very general therapist lines like, oh how did that make you feel? I felt like we were going no where and I was just getting more frustrated with the experience. Ill seek therapy elsewhere.

Good place to go for therapy. However, beginning August 1st they are barring the entrance of emotional companion animals, which I think is HIGHLY inappropriate for a therapy center, particularly one with the history, clientele, and claims of SCS.
