I have gone to Loan for 15 years! She is amazing at her craft- a true artist!! Modern Barber is a very stylish space, love the decor and the simplicity. Always clean and fresh. It’s also very nice to have a (free) secured parking space in the city. I always feel pampered and well taken care of. Thank you for your lovely service… it’s a great feeling knowing I will love my hair every time.

I have fine hair that feels greasy after one day. I asked for recommendations for shampoo and conditioner. Got a wonderful trim from owner Erika, who was charming, efficient and listened carefully to what my needs were. Whenever I have occasion to travel to Seattle, I make sure I grow my hair out as much as possible before arriving to justify scheduling some chair time. I recommended this barber shop to my sister and it has become her go-to.

Collin is the best! While his shop is called Modern Barber, he is far more than a barber. He is an artist! I wouldnt let anybody else color my hair. I have to get back on Mercer Street to access I-5 after my visits, which sometimes takes just as long as my hair appointment itself, but its totally worth it!

This is the only place in the state that sells Overtone product so I tried to make the trip from Vashon to get some. Called multiple times to try and make sure they had the product I was looking for- no answer. That should’ve been clue one, but website said they were open so I made the trip.Got there to a locked door and a post it note saying ‘make an appointment’. Wish their website conveyed this- waste of time.I’ll get product elsewhere :)

They’re the only overtone retailer in Seattle and are by appointment only so if you just want to walk in and grab a product real quick you’re out of luck unless they’re working on someone in the chair. Pretty inconvenient.

This is an absolutely beautiful salon - clean, tidy, and super cute decor, too. The owner/stylist, Erika, is honestly one of the best stylists I have ever been to, and also one of the kindest. I had recently gone through a tragic loss when I got my hair done by her, and she was so considerate of my feelings; she let me take as many breaks as I needed, and we just had great conversation. You can tell that she loves what she does through her work, how she treats her clients, and how she keeps the salon. She just does amazing work, and its an all around great experience. I would recommend any family member or friend to go to Erika.Tl;dr: If youre looking for a very comfortable, very clean salon with a great vibe and an incredible stylist who is as kind as she is good with hair (and she is BRILLIANT with it)...
