I came to Mayo Rheumatology with a previously confirmed diagnosis via blood work. However, Dr. Chang-Miller dismissed my diagnosis without any testing stating that she didn’t believe I had _____.Because of her dismissal, I have spent the past 1 1/2 years at Mayo seeing various specialists trying to find a diagnosis.Finally I requested the biopsy, that confirmed without a doubt, I do in fact have the autoimmune disease I was previously diagnosed with—the same illness Dr. Chang-Miller said she didn’t believe I had.Now that I have a Mayo-approved diagnosis, I was directed to Rheumatology but allowed ONLY to see Dr. Chang-Miller. Understandably, I requested to see someone else. But apparently Mayo doesn’t allow patients to change doctors once you’ve seen someone “per clinic policy.”I did try to appeal, but my request was denied by department chair Dr. Leroy Griffing, who I was told based part of his decision upon the recommendation of Dr. Chang-Miller. He also denied my request for a prescription that Mayo’s website currently lists as a medication for my condition saying that I don’t need it...even though I have yet to be seen or examined by anyone in Mayo rheumatology.I believe I’m the victim of retaliation for complaining about a doctor who was negligent.PS. I’ve since received a letter from Mayo stating they were unable to place me with another Rheumatologist because “the care [from Chang-Miller] was thorough.” Seriously Mayo?!
