This place is horrible! If it wasnt for the fact they take insurance I would not be going her! The doctors and Therapist keep leaving or dropping their hours. I have now been dropped by a Psychiatrist and a Therapist. How do form a trusting bond with these people who are supposed to be helping you? I have also had trouble getting prescriptions and had appointments canceled often. Not a great place!

I have been very impressed with the help that I have received from all the providers at Scottsdale Mental Health and Wellness Institute.Simply, I have received all the care that most of us have needed but it is hard to find these days.I am going to leave something out that is important, but a couple of people that have become more than just providers, but friends. Very rare find.Patrick Mingey, a Director at the institute, is absolutely responsive. I have not found a time or day of the week that he can not be contacted. He has helped me through a very difficult time. Really made it possible to see the light at the end of the tunnel. A friend. Call him.Dr. Abdullah, is awesome. Very kind hearted. His partner, Dr. Segal is also super. The therapist that I have seen in the group is Cory. Insightful and smart. It would be difficult, more likely impossible, to find a better practice for any of your mental health needs. They have had a giant hand in saving my life. John H

This has got to be the worst mental health clinic Ive ever been to. Ive had covid for a little over 2 weeks now, and magically missed two appointments when I explicitly told them I had covid. I was told that I would still have to pay for the appointments, and in order for my prescriptions to be refilled, Id have to personally come in and see the doctor just to get a refill! So while Im recovering from covid, Im also going through withdrawals from my medication! What a wonderful experience! They also seem to forget what prescriptions I am being diagnosed, and cant keep track of what Im actually taking (super organized). Dont make the same mistake I made, go somewhere else!

DO NOT GO HERE. They have a whole assortment of issues. While I was happy with my actual therapist, scheduling, paying, and filling prescriptions was a NIGHTMARE. They charged me twice the amount of an appointment and had no records showing what ANY of my charges were for! When I confronted them about the mistake on the bill, they said they would figure it out. Its been 3 months, AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I keep having to check with them and they keep showing the charge is still there! I have been trying for 6 days now to REFILL A PRESCRIPTION but Scottsdale Mental Health and Wellness cant seem to figure out how to do that. I called them, they said their doctor would send my pharmacy my prescription by the end of the day. Nothing happened. The next day, they tell me the same thing. I call them at the end of the day after not receiving notification from my pharmacy, and they say they called it in. I check with the pharmacy, and they have no record of a call from my doctors. So here I am, without my medication (which is super safe to have your patients go cold-turkey off their medication), BEGGING them to give them to me, and they are absolutely no help.If you have mental health issues and actually want help instead of just being a paycheck for some jerks, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.Edit: at least its clear that my money is going to a responsive marketing team instead of toward people who actually can help me with my prescription and billing issues. If you want to help, sir, get your employees to do their jobs and help your patients when they reach out for help.

They have a good selection of therapists to choose from. I’ve been seeing Cory for almost 4 months now. No honestly I’m glad I chose him, he is good at what he does and what every good therapist should do he not there to give you the answer but to give you the question. With his help I’ve been a steady path on figuring out why I do things that I do. Therapist Selection 5/5. Be cautious when picking a psychiatrist, since coming two PA-C have left. The newest PA-C to be added started on a very bad note. It was our first appointment he didn’t even look at my charts that my previous PA-C prior to my appointment. It was a huge step back. It seemed that he didn’t bother listening on what I had to say. He wanted me to come back in two weeks and see how my medication that I’ve been taking for 2 months is working. Spoiler alert. It’s working. Don’t get to familiar with the front desk receptionists they same to leave frequently as well. The location of the facility is nice convenient location and very discrete if that’s something that your looking for. For the most part staff is quite friendly and don’t look at you like you’re crazy. Becoming a patient was very easy and self explanatory. Even though this place has impurities which doctors office doesn’t. If all pork chops were perfect we wouldn’t have hot dogs

Found Scottsdale Mental Health & Wellness Institute online and I consider myself extremely lucky to have found them. Dr. Volfson, has been AMAZING. Since being under her care, my life has taken a dramatic turn for the better in both personal and professional. She really takes the time to get to know you and understand what makes you tick before giving her personal recommendations and diagnosis. 3 months into my sessions with her and my social and personal life is great, my work life is even better with me now being consistently a top performer in my field. Highly recommend Dr. Volfson and her team, can honestly say she has vastly improved my life.

Ive had good experiences with the medical staff here, but the office staff really need to get their act together. Unscheduled appointments, incorrect appointments, scheduling appointments when the provider isnt even in the office, disorganized communications, lost contact information, saying I was going to see a doctor even though the provider was actually a PA, saying I met my deductible even though I hadnt, and the list goes on.When youre working with people who have anxiety and depression, having setbacks like never getting a callback for an appointment can be all they need to convince themselves that the help isnt worth the trouble.5 stars from me if you can improve your office staff.

Alex is an absolute amazing PA and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. Her insight and experience is without parallel. The front staff, however, are the reason Im only giving three stars. The woman at the desk is always rude and unprofessional. She yells to other staff members down the hallway and do behaves as if youre a bother. She has refused to wear a mask on multiple occasions, even when I request it. Many of the staff members, except Alex, do not wear masks. I would expect more from a medical office. Her unprofessionalism should be addressed.

My only positive experience has been with dr cory groman and a provider that no longer lives in the state. other than that this place has caused more anxiety than helped. they constantly tell me i have charges due and then when i show proof of payment, they just make up a charge i owe from a different day that i already paid. i have had to sign the HIPPA form twice and apparently need to sign it again so my mom can help with finances. however for the past 18 months they have been talking to my mom completely about all my finances, so even if they did happen to lose another form, then they have been illegally giving away my information and are breaking the HIPPA oath. please find literally anywhere else to go unless you manage to get an appointment with cory

The facility is good and I love Dr. Volfson, she is an amazing Psychiatrist! If anyone is looking for someone who is kind and caring and will listen to your needs and will work with you she’s your person. I also want to say that Lupé in billing is really nice and helpful, I’m glad she’s working there. I would have rated a lot higher but the woman at the front desk named Rhia is rude, abrasive, and inattentive to what is being discussed. Honestly if I didn’t like Dr. Volfson so much I would probably look elsewhere because of the treatment I consistently receive from the front desk.

Full of excuses. I started seeing Dr. Volfson in September of this year at the recommendation of another psychiatrist. She seemed to have solid plans to help me overcome some long term issues I was dealing with, and I was hopeful for my future. Dr. Volfson prescribed new medications that required prior auth. It took over a week and multiple calls to the office to get them to complete the proper paperwork so I could start my new meds. Penny, the office manager, even told me that Dr. Volfson is slow/bad about completing prior auths and thats just how she is and it will get done when it gets done. At my second appointment she decided she wanted me to come off of my antidepressant that Id been taking for years and was stable on. I informed her that I had tried to do this before while switching to a new medication, and that I had horrible withdrawal. With that in mind she had me lower my dose for one week and then come completely off of the med. She also did not put me on anything else for my depression. Less than one week of the med completely and Im in full blown withdrawal on the verge of hospitalizing myself due to a mental health crisis. Here is where the excuses come in. I called the office in tears asking to have Dr. Volfson call me and help me. I was told by Christina that she would get a message to Dr. Volfson and call me right back. 5pm comes and goes with no call. Here we are the next day by noon still no call. I call the office to see why I havent received a call back and to express the urgency of the issue. Penny answered the call after it rang for over a minute. I explained the situation to her and was told that the message was given to Dr. Volfson and she cant control when Dr. Volfson decides to call me back and that Dr. Volfson sees 22 patients back to back all day and excuse after excuse as to why calling me back wasnt important. I told Penny that I have had nothing but problems since dealing with their office and that they make me feel like Im the problem and that my expectations are unreasonable. She proceeded to tell me that she wasnt making me feel any certain way and I reminded her that she doesnt get to control or dictate the feelings I feel because of her actions or lack thereof. She took zero responsibility for dropping the ball with my care and had zero empathy in a time of crisis. I am appalled that this is how they treat mental health patients in their times of need. Penny was beyond unprofessional and in the 20+ years Ive spent seeking help from mental health professionals I have never experienced someone so out of touch with the needs of the psychiatric patients. But fret not, I was able to get a good laugh out of all this when I saw Pennys bio on their webpage said with her experience and positive attitude make an impact in the lives of the patients and staff at SMHWI.

This place is wonderful. They really helped me through a very rough patch that I was going through earlier this year and continue to support me. I able to attend and successfully complete the IOP program. It was definitely intense but so rewarding in the end. Never seeing a therapist or psychologist I was skeptical, naive, nervous, you name it. It was absolutely life changing. They made sure that I was comfortable every step of the way and continue to help me beyond the IOP program. Everyone on staff is top notch. It shows that they truly care about their patients. They were able to work with my insurance and work with me on my out of pocket portion with no issues.Cannot say enough great things about SMHWI.

Love this place theyve really helped me and my wife get through a lot of hard times over the last few years theyve even been great during the covid 19 crisis as well. I suffer from PTSD anxiety and depression and this offices have helped though it all.I give this place 4 stars because the people are great, my therapist is even helping find a new career path. This place saved my wifes life and has kept my marriage together. And now the bad. Let me start by saying this issues that my wife and I have experience are probably due to how insurance companies have been treating their customers during the covid crisis. truly everyone who needs to talk to somebody. one let me schedule my appointments through an app or through the website so that Im not constantly calling to figure out when my appointment is or when to change it. two if I have a bill you should probably tell me I have a bill either through an online portal or hand it to me when Im in there. Recently there was an insurance issue where we had a outstanding bill and we werent told for 6 months. so of course the amount grew to quite an enormous size $900. Plus they added a late fee because of past due that doesnt make any sense and were correcting that issue as we speak. The biggest shoe I have with this place is the billing department. Obviously the before issue I just mentioned is ridiculous and we are not paying all of that money. My wife spent three days going through every transaction weve had for the last three years to prove that they actually owe us money. The billing person the office manager or the billing department have terrible organization issues and trying to read our billing statement would require a forensic accounting degree. This needs to stop my wife and I have a lot of physical and mental issues and dont have time to also argue every nickel and dime between you and the insurance company. You can do better thank you.

The providers and therapists are absolutely top notch and good at their job. The front office seems to get worse and worse. They changed me for services I did not use although I cancelled well within time frame. Before that, even though I paid every time i went, they didnt happen to send the bill to the correct address, so be ready for surprise bills of $300. When i finally found out about my the bill they sent to the wrong address, they refused to let me see my doctor without payment in hand. This office also had a hard time communicating prescriptions to pharmacies. Their new phone service doesnt even ring the first set you have to press #1 even though it doesnt make sense with the options listed. Missing someones meds is painful for them but I never saw my doctor or got a chance to make him fill out my FMLA paperwork, so, now I lose my job if i call in. The most upsetting part is when I was speaking to the manager she charged my fiance above the amount we agreed on and threatened to take us to court if we cancel the transaction.
