I️ was at Hoag ER and expecting to get an experienced Hoag Newport Beach or in Irvine surgeon. I️ was given no choice nor information about the surgeons available to me which I️ believe is no fault of the doctor they chose to call. I️ know this run down area of Santa Ana and in past found some doctors at that location not to be top quaility. Again no fault of Dr Davis. My surgery to remove my gallbladder went well and I️ have very low pain until the order for a meal after not eating for 6 days was screwed up by dietary loading me up with non bland items. Dr Davis claims it was too spicy and heavy. I’m feeling it now ruining my pain free situation!! Why not a specific order for what Dr Davis said he recommends??! His bedside manner shows no regard to wanting to connect with the patient and assure tell a little about himself or comfort. He said he thinks I️ have enteritis even after a swab proved I️ didn’t. I️ wouldn’t say it was bad manners just a quick less than minute with no time to answer questions. After a test at 2pm he was paged 3 x over several hours to tell my nurse if I could even drink water. I️ was nothing by mouth previous evening until 6 pm next day very thirsty and uncomfortable had no liquid diet yet either or ice chips. He never came to my room before surgery to talk to me as the nurse said that is what he does. He was never friendly to me. He did approach me in pre-op. I️ didn’t have my glasses on and he was too far away to make out his facial features as he spoke so I️ told him that I️ am near sighted and can’t see him. In a non joking way he said he looks the same as yesterday. He took about 45 seconds before deciding to come closer so I️ could see him as he talked. I’ve been in medical field since 1977 and think Hoag Irvine should call in a top surgeon from Newport or Irvine area not in downtown rundown Santa Ana. The other doctors were good but I️ found it difficult to not feel like a number and for some reason DrD respected as a adult. I️ doubt someone with more status would of gotten this aloft behavior. You recommend a different diet than I️ got and you can’t write the order for it so I️ go from pain free to stomach ache? What kind of medical care is that after abdominal surgery?? I️ won’t be seeing you for follow up and I️ will be checking that the surgery was done at Hoag standards.

Dr. Davis did my parathyroid tumor and did a beautiful job. My scar is very minimal, he was very professional. I have others that have done the same exam and they had a horrible experience. Thanks Dr. Davis.
