My son has been a part of the Shire House since 2012. The staff has been very helpful and supportive going so far as to allow him to bring his service dog to live with him there. He has always been able to depend on Shire House for help and advise on everything from finding doctors, managing his time and money, providing transportation, socialization, job hunting, and so much more. Shire House provides a service that is unfortunately severely lacking in most communities in the United States, and they do it well. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am for his association with Shire House, and I will continue to support them even after my son graduates from the program.

My daughter made a complete turnaround from being sequestered in her room at home to being a reliable employee supporting herself. Shire House was instrumental in her success. The support she received for daily living (with others), school, and job hunting, plus the Friday socials was invaluable.We found Shire House to be friendly and supportive to all diversities.

Our son was a resident of the Shire House for almost two years, and has now moved on to a shared housing arrangement, also sponsored by the Shire House. The staff is exceptional. Our son has thrived in this environment, and we would strongly recommend that families with young adult children on the spectrum consider the Shire House as a possible living arrangement for their children.

My son have been a resident for 6 months now, and it has definitely been an excellent opportunity for him. The weekly structure plus the organized social events and daily interactions have provided a positive environment in which to thrive. May not work for every candidate, but has absolutely work for him. Thumbs up from this end

My son has been attending the Friday Night Socials for 6 years. It’s home to him. The staff is exceptional and continue to help him become more independent in his adult life.

Shire House has been a safe and supportive living space for my neurodiverse son for over two years. I appreciate that the staff gives him space to be himself while also encouraging adulting.

Do not move there if you arent super high functioning as they do not like it, also do not go there if you are at all non cis. Staff were very rude and my thirty day notice was very thinly veiled bigotry. Still need therapy.
