I had a single onset seizure that resulted in a head on car accident, a broken back, post concussion syndrome, and a traumatic brain injury. I was under the care of a different neurologist at UCSD for 7 months after the car accident - I was suffering from migraines, vertigo, and fainting spells all of which she had no answer for so I did some research and found Dr. Alexander I waited a month to see him and it was worth every second waiting to see him. Within minutes he diagnosed the problem and set me up on a plan of brain rehabilitation and a vision impairment that once corrected with eye glasses the migraines and vertigo went away almost instantly. He’s the best doctor I’ve ever been under and I swear by him. His bed side manner and care for you as a person and patient and what you’re going through is shockingly amazing given him being a brilliant neurologist (typically they lack certain social skills and empathy). I could go on and on and on but this man is a life saver and totally changed my mind on the medical system itself and SCRIPPS all together. Highly highly highly recommend him. I have heard his office staff is not the greatest when it comes to scheduling new patients but welcome to the medical industry here in CA, understaffed and over-booked. But, I can’t stress enough the greatness of this man and his understanding of the brain and post concussion syndrome and his knowledge of TBI. I am only 32 years old and had never had a history of seizures or anything wrong health wise whatsoever, after spending 7 months suffering under the care of another neurologist, Dr. Alexander had all of my ailments diagnosed and I was on a plan to recover after just one appointment with him.
I was looking to change from 1 neuro of UCSD, to change to who be Joshua Alexander,UNTIL I read the reviews. As I expected Joshua Alexanders ratings to consist as that of his name at Scripps.Specialists physicians listed to work for both large hospital names, are rather a lesser portion. This also seems to prove the overall quality expectancy of Scripps vs UCSD.
DR. Alexander is never available, every time I want to schedule an appointment I have to wait at least 3 months to see him. I suffer from really bad migraine and I cant even get refills in the meantime to relief my pain. Very disappointed.
