By way of full disclosure, I have known the Drs. Cardenas for 22 years (Dr. Carrie) and 40 years (Dr. Hector). I consider them close personal friends. That being said, they are both wonderful physicians. Dr. Hector is my personal doctor, not merely because he is a friend, but because he is very, very good at what he does. His diagnostic skills are nothing short of phenomenal. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of his craft from a purely academic perspective, combined with over 25 years of practical experience. His bedside manner, sense of humor, and interpersonal skills are top notch. When paired with his truly compassionate nature and deep-seated desire to do what is best for his patients, the result is a doctor who will give a patient accurate, understandable, and actionable information in order to work with the patient towards an acceptable medical solution.I am fortunate in that I can choose my own doctor. While the Drs. Cardenas are friends, which made me consider them when looking for a physician, it is their skill, expertise, approach to medicine as a profession and a calling, experience, and ability that decided the issue for me regarding medical care. When it comes to your health and that of your family, you should get the best. Cardenas Internal Medicine provides precisely that, while being easy to talk to and friendly in the process. I give them my strongest recommendation.

Dr. Cardenas has been recognized as one of the best doctors in San Diego (multiple time) for very good reasons. Clinically he is simply outstanding. He is very caring, hard-working, and empathetic. His own life experiences have shaped the physician he is today. However, his greatest strength is that he can simplify complex medical issues so that it can easily be understood on a common sense level. That actually is a very, very RARE skill. As a doctor, Ive done extensive research and inquired many colleagues as to whom they would want to take care of them and his name commonly appears on top of their lists.

Dr. Cardenas is an excellent physician who I wholeheartedly recommend. I have been a patient of his for over 10 years and am pleased he can now dedicate more time to patients during office visits and follow up calls now that he and his wife have their own practice. He is kind, extremely detail oriented, ethical and intelligent, which I think all you can ask for in a physician.

Ive been a patient of Dr Cardenas for many years now and Ive hardly felt so good about a Dr opinion and honest feedback. He is just like me first trying to solve issues the natural way with tea and fresh air so to say but if that doesnt help he listens and helps with meds and so far I got over everything and he is super responsive when I have an issue and ask. One of the best Doctors Ive ever known

He was treating me for chronic pain. And then after the CDC lied about their numbers chronic pain patients he abandoned me in La Mesa Sharp. Have you slowly but surely tapered my pain medicine down to the point where I could no longer function. Cant even do my own laundry can barely leave my own bed. , doctors are forgetting the Hippocratic Oath. They took. Do no harm and treat their patients with compassion He did this for a while. Until the CDC scared him to death I guess. Because I feel as I was left high and dry. no no harm and treat the patients with compassion he did this for a while until the CDC scared in the death I guess because I feel as I was left high and dry and turned over to another position that now intense do the same thing to keep tape or me down to the fake and fraudulent numbers, I even showed him charts. And the cdcs admission that the numbers theyve posted were wrong and incorrect. And I pain patients on high doses. Were not intended to be apart. Of their position on pain medication and patients suffering from intractable pain. On palliative care I thank him for his care. But he did not do his research before he started cutting my pain medications down. After I told him I could not function any longer. Even my groceries now have to be delivered. This is ridiculous. Doctors are not taking a stand against what the CDC are doing to their profession. And instead of a standing up. For their oath They abandoned patients. This is sad and harmful to patients. I dont know what else to say except for the fact of the matter is. They consider themselves before they considered their patients. Which is a break in the oath but they took This is a sad time in medicine that we are going through. When patients are suffering. And go to the doctors. And they refuse to provide the medication that they need or take away the medication that they been on for years. He even told me one time that I would never have an issue as my paperwork in my conditions showed that I needed the medication I was on This seems very cowardly. On the part of of doctors breaking their oath, and I hope they feel some shame. What they are doing.

Initially, I liked my first visit. Unfortunately, ever since, his bedside manner has left much to be desired. I have had to call multiple times for him to follow through on test results as well as referrals. He also snapped at me last visit when I tried to ask him something before he was done typing. I apologized and he got even meaner. Good thing he didnt become a Veterinarian!! Animals cannot speak for themselves. I do not like feeling afraid to go to the doctor.

Made me feel inferior on my questions about why I was in the office to see him. I asked valid questions about cholesterol and statins, his responses were so nicely stated about common sence and not being thick skinned on my part that at this point I knew that he was the wrong choice as a doctor for me. Just because at one point he was fortunate to have the financial backing and gifted with the mentality to succed in college to do this profession does not make it okay. A little compassion as to human nature would of been nice. We’re would any doctor be without a patient.
