Delicious delicious açaí bowl! I don’t know if it was dessert or lunch for me but I absolutely loved it! The service was quick and efficient and the menu was incredibly long with tons of choices of healthy foods to choose from as well as juices. I was here on vacation but I will definitely make this shop a part of my annual trip at least once if not multiple times next year. I got the first basic Açaí bowl on the menu that was Açaí blend with cut up bananas, strawberries, blueberries, granola and honey drizzled on top. Sweet and yummy!

I dunno about the fruit edibles but theres a wall of old school arcade games that dont require quarters and i really like the vibe!

Ordered Celine dijon wrap and mango starr smoothie for brunch. Both were pretty good. Fresh, flavorful and healthy. would like to visit again.

Came here after our 1.5 kayak fun and this was perfectly refreshing after all that. The line was short and the wait wasn’t too long but parking may be tough around here. I love that you’re able to play arcade games for FREE while you wait. They have CBD infused items and special mushroom drinks, but we didn’t try. We got Bananas Foster the People, Twopac Shakur, and Beyoncai. I think my favorite thing about this place is their fun names for their items! Will be back if I’m in the area and definitely recommend.

Very rude employees. They hardly acknowledge you when you walk up to the counter to order. They don’t seem appreciate of your business. I’ve given this place so many chances hoping it’d be better the next time. I see that other reviewers feel the same way. Take a look at how this joke of a ‘manager’ responds to his customers. WOW! He clearly doesn’t know how to hire kind and professional employees because look at his character— it makes sense. It is hot and sticky in this place and it does not feel clean. No masks, no gloves. Touch money and then touch your food. Yuk. Don’t give your money or time to this place.

Asai bowl was ok - it seems that it was frozen from night before when it arrived from mad beets this morning. Smelled not fresh when opened.

I’ve been here a few times recently and have really enjoyed it a lot. It’s a quirky smoothie place that also sells salads, wraps, and fruit bowls. All the smoothies I’ve ordered have been great! Really flavorful and inventive. I recommend the Lana Del Raspberry, the Miley Cytrus, and the Smashing Pineapples. They also have an old school arcade here which is unusual and cool. I don’t really understand the negative reviews this places receives—the workers seem to be following COVID protocol and the service has been pleasant each time I’ve come in. Definitely come by!!

The acai bowls here are good, although the sorbet base can get soupy if you dont consume it immediately. It is a convenient stop after the beach, although finding a parking spot can be tough.

The guy that work there is totally rude. They are known for doing smothies and things like that but they dont have bag or at least cup holders. There is a guy with hat, maaaan.. he is mad everyday, he gets your order and dont even look to your eyes. Worst experience ever!

This is definitely the best place for acai bowls, juices and healthy food. Ive tried many of their smoothie bowls and loved them all, their acai bowl is my absolute favorite here in San Diego (and Ive tried many places). I love The Mad Beet and am super happy I finally got one again today after moving to a different part of SD - kind staff, good service and fresh good quality food! Will never get tired of their acai bowl :)

While the smoothie was delicious the workers are not very friendly and seem to not want to work here. We came in an hour before close and were treated as a complete inconvenience

Owner refused to serve me when I received a phone call during my order. He Reprimanded me like I was a child. Not to mention the smoothies are not that great and way overpriced.

My wife and I have tried tons of Açaí bowl spots all over San Diego and nothing compares to Mad Beet. The bowls are thick, tons of fresh fruit, and add ons. Love it and definitely recommend checking it out!

The staff here is so professional and level headed even in the face of antagonism. I witnessed an unruly customer come in trying to start a fight and the situation was de-escalated so effectively while not even skipping a beat in attending to my needs that I was incredibly impressed. I go out of my way to come here if Im even anywhere close to the area. Also the food is so fresh and delicious and I always feel healthier after leaving here.

Great juice shop near the beach. Appreciate that they offer larger sizes for juices. Plenty of smoothie, juice, salad, and wrap options too. Also, there is lots of space/seating for larger parties.

To heck with karens who one stared this awesome place because they are too scared to live life. They didnt even review the food. The acai bowls were amazing and the iced coffee is a good amp charger. Because of the covid karens, I will make it apoint to come here more.

Purists might not like their acai bowls because Ive heard that they like the acia not frozen. Im not one of those people. This place was my first acai bowl experience (we dont have em in Canada) and all I can say is - yum! I think we had one every night we were here. My wife tried the acai and wasnt that keen on it, so she had the Willow Smith with real whipped cream instead. Dont these look great?

This is my second visit to this local restaurant. I ordered a tomato base drink and it was brought to me promptly. It was very interesting that I answered my phone while standing at the cash register and the very tall staff who is working the cash register demanded that I end my call immediately and finish my transaction.? Is this military boot camp? I’d also like to highlight. That my drink was 70% ice. For a nine dollar drink I think this is not appropriate. I would get this review a one star but the drink was moderately good in quality and flavor.The response from the owner below is totally inappropriate and unprofessional, I would not call it a beautiful sign and more importantly his attitude is the worst goodbye to .....The above description was not a compliment to the drink quality, sorry you thought it was.

Been coming here for years! The juice is FRESH, juiced while you wait, portions are HUGE and service is FAST even when theres a long line. Kombucha on tap, delicious sandwiches, healthy, awesome neighborhood gem. Best healthy eats and juice bar to hit up when youre at the beach.

The Mad beet is mad delicious!! Located Right off Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach- this cute cozy hole in the wall packs a punch of deliciousness and serious options on the smoothies and juices front ... my go to is the açaí bowl or the pitaya smoothie. Both are fantastic!! (They are quick like lightning too!)

I love the Mad Beet, I’ve been frequenting them since I moved to San Diego 5 years go. The best juices in town, good healthy shots, wraps and amazing açaí bowls. I have been here a few times maybe five times total. The menu is very confusing and not well organized. Smoothies are decent. Not the best. I have tried a few different items on the menu and nothing excites me.On top of the mediocre smoothies the service and atmosphere is terrible. Very loud to wait around for your food or drink. Twice I have had problems with the service. The worse was being harassed about describing what type of flavors I like. I said “I like sour flavors.” The guy working the counter then starts arguing in a very aggressive attitude saying that sour is bad. Okay chill guy, I just want a smoothie.I’m not returning. If you’re a new customer maybe check it out if you walk by. Not worth going out of your way.

First off, no masks or gloves. Second off, I saw how they responded to a customer in the reviews and it blew my mind how immature their response was. The number one thing you were taught while working in a job that involves lots of people is that the customer is always right. You should never go and argue with a customer who’s at your establishment willingly paying to eat your product. If they are dissatisfied they have every right to go up and complain. The immaturity and lack of respect that these people have for their customers is really disgusting. I hope they realize that there are plenty of other establishments in the neighborhood of Pacific Beach who people will gladly go to if they keep treating their customers like sh*t.

I’m honestly confused reading negative reviews that directly relate to Covid opinions. This is a local restaurant that’s keeping its doors open during this pandemic and feeding the community nourishing food, how can you write negatively about that? I have so much love for this local PB immune boosting shop. If you’re looking for healthy, convenient, quick food this place is gold! I’ve been frequenting this shop since it opened and they never disappoint. Some of my personal favs are the Alicia turkey rolls and the all 4 one shots. Super clean environment, creative menu, and extremely fresh food keep me coming back. 5 stars all the way! I walked in there today and there was rap music blaring so the guy behind the counter could barely hear me. He also wasnt wearing a mask and didnt seem to care! I walked out! Normally I like this place but with that environment, i wont be back! I gave it 2 stars because I have had a good experience here before.

This place sucks the cashier is arrogant and the store is dirty

Yesterday I had my 1st time experience getting a protein shake at The Mad Beet. I sat down to play a complementary video game and after about 5 minutes I was asked to leave by a 62, 230lb man. I am a 39 year old man, 58, 140lbs ( a little over half his size). He told me to leave because I was playing a video game and also drinking a shake. I didnt understand what I did wrong and told him I didnt appreciate being treated with such aggression. I asked him his name, he said he wouldnt give it to me. I then asked to speak with the manager. He then stated that I couldnt speak with the manager. I told him I wouldnt leave until I spoke with the manager. He then, within a fraction of a second, spun me around and put me in a military Choke Hold, until I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I was laying out on the sidewalk right in front of the entrance. I called the police to press charges but unfortunately the police officers who arrived to the scene of the crime, were corrupt. Apparently they were good friends with this Criminal! After the event took place I Googled the business name, so I could contact the owner and inform her/him of what had transpired. I found out the Monster, who violated me in such a horrific manner, was the owner of The Mad Beet! His name is BRIAN DUNLAP!! He is a ex-military, psychopath and is above the law, in Pacific Beach. You are literally putting your life at risk, when patronizing this establishment. BEWARE!!!

The very best place for Acai bowls Ive ever been to. This is a place I have to return to every time I am in the area. Amazing atmosphere, killer music, expansive selection of menu items, Mad Beet is the way to go every time. I have never heard a bad thing about them yet.

I love this place. Their juice blends and smoothies are amazing and it’s genuinely healthy.

So many different smoothie flavors to choose from, and they all sounded scrumptious! I got the “bob mar-leaf” and it was good. Not too sweet, might pick a sweeter one next time.

Their health standards are incredibly low (no masks or gloves during a pandemic) which screams lack of respect or accountability. Since their location is in PB it means they have a high number of traffic of people going through, so even if you “don’t believe in Covid” the amount of germs coming in without any precautions is absolutely discusting. It’s really disappointing and I left before I even tried the food with the disrespect they were treating their customers.

It’s not really my experience Of the restaurant but more my experience of the owner of this restaurant the mad be he acts like he is really nice and he treats people that come in his restaurant very nice if you are not less fortunate and or homeless I am not homeless but I am a resident of San Diego and I live in San Diego off of Garnet Avenue and last year and the year before that two different times I observed the man that owns this restaurant after hours and even while his store was open I watched him go and harass homeless people do year before last year I watched him walk across the street while his store was open and grab a homeless person‘s phone and their stuff and harass them because they had a small sign out asking first people to help out with food and he said that that person had to leave that area because He owns his store right across the street and when the homeless person did not leave he grabbed the homeless persons thrown out of their hand and threw the stuff about the sidewalk and then I observed him doing the same harassing stuff to another homeless person just last year and then again the other day I watched him close up his Store and he walked across the street and started harassing another homeless person the person was sitting in front of a swimsuit store that was not open next to a pizza restaurant just trying to get something to eat and I was at another restaurant watching all this go down this person gets off on hurting and harassing homeless people steal the stuff when they’re not looking and even when they are looking and it’s just mean so just so you know when you eat at the mad be this is the kind of person you were giving your money to someone that hates how much people. Anybody that has less fortunate he is a real piece of dirt please people see this man for who he really is and just take the time if you ever have and watch how he treats how Homeless people when he thinks other people or not watching I know a lot of homeless people get a bad rap but they are people and they deserve to eat and they deserve not to be treated like dirt like this man treats them

I was new here and asked cashier what kinds of beets drinks they have she was super knowledgeable and sweet. She recommended Beets By Dre. Very good stuff. It was a pretty color drink like dark red. Healthy. It energized me! I take a bunch of diuretics so this was a GREAT drink full of potassium. Im gonna do it again! Next time Im going to try the strawberry mixed with other fruits. Yum. Yum!!

Great healthier fast food option.

My first visit was 3 days ago before writing this review. I went 3 times to give them the benefit of the doubt, but here we go.The employees i personally encountered dont wear masks or gloves. They just handle your food or drinks after touching money and phones and kitchen gear and customer orders.....just straight to the next task without any handwashing....Just because yall forgot about the global pandemic doesnt mean Allergen Cross Contamination doesnt exist. People still do be allergic to nuts and pollen, etc.Customer service was subpar. Instead of some type of welcome/greeting or any indication that i have to wait, i just get glared at by the guy and girl employees while waiting to order. the girl just stares me dead in my eyes and goes from the front to the back 4 times visibly not doing any actual tasks before someone else finally decieded to ask what im here for. As if standing at the register with money in my hand inside of a restaurant isnt obvious enough. So after that unneccessary interlude we handle the transaction for my over priced drink and thats all folks.

The staff Danelle and Serena on Saturday 02/15/2020 at 5:26PM were extremely rude, unapproachable, and lack communication skills for a customer service position.Wanted to go to a quaint establishment ignoring the ratings and comments online.Walking into this shop, I stop to read the menu on the left wall, once I was ready, Serena with “I’m waiting face” then looking outside behind me while I gave my order. The look you see on a Disney show when the kids make a point that someone is annoying them.The drink was ready right away. It was the “Blackberry Charles” w/celery, It was full of ice! I didn’t find it a big deal but I had never gotten ice in a juice drink like this unless it’s, maybe, orange juice. “This place might be different...”, I thought.There was so much ice that when I tried scooping 2 table spoons it seemed like a ridiculous task. I went to the counter, asked Danielle if “she could please dump some of the ice out for me or if she could please give me something to put the ice in because I had tried to get some out but it wouldn’t work because I had to hold the trash open and scoop, I didn’t have enough hands”. Serena’s response was,”Oh, don’t do that, it would be so messy”, a comment with absolutely no solution just except with her task in mind she would have to clean it.My response,”I’m aware, which is why I’m asking if one of you could dump some of the ice or give me something to dump it in?”Danielle looked at me with drawl eyes, tightened her lips, took the cup to the sink.She tried dumping the ice by scooping it out but after scooping 3 times, she became frustrated, all that was left after taking some ice out was 1/3 of the medium cup. She just dumped the entire drink out.She had to make another then when bringing it to me, with no ice, she tapped her hands together with every word as if scolding me,”All our drinks come with ice”....that’s when I interrupted and asked for both their names. She did this very comfortably in front of other customers, which informs me that this has been done before to customers.If this establishment’s policy is to save money on fruit and vegetables per cup, I understand it isn’t the girls fault but, the way they speak to a customer that’s a problem.The ice wasn’t a big deal, I’ll just go to Jamba Juice next time, I’ve NEVER had any issues at any of them, I’m a travel nurse and picking up something healthy on the run is something you have to learn. I wanted a small business in my hometown to get my money. It wasn’t until the behavior of both girls exacerbated a non situation into one that is fit to write about.I’d rather pay for a “cup of ice” at McDonald’s and “hear thank you have a nice day” then ever deal with these drama queens again.I tossed the cup and got myself a burrito from the same place I’ve gotten them since I was a kid after surfing.

This place has great smoothies, and they also have smoothies with red bull in them and a doTerra poster on the wall. So, make your choice. The Scoop Dogg is good and I enjoyed it.

It’s a business that claims to be “health foods” yet won’t wear masks or gloves to make sure it’s customers don’t get any sickness at all, let alone COVID. It’s food service, they should be wearing gloves all. The. Time. If you look on their Instagram they seem to think they’re smarter than the Center for Disease Control, spouting about how they know the numbers “aren’t real”. This business wants to take your money and kill you.

The best place Ive eaten at in this area! Fresh veggies and fruits, lots of combos to choose from or create your own. A must try for any vegans or vegetarians or those looking for some fresh nutrient dense food!!

I asked the owner where there tumeric came from and he told me I would need to get a franchise to get that info. I then asked if it was powder and he said yes thats the way tumeric comes. Besides being rude he obviously knows very little about juicing as juicing the root is the only way to go. Avoid this place if you want a good product and service.

Ive never been to a place like this and the menu board is huge and overwhelming. I wouldnt say the folks working there were rude, but they also werent very welcoming (especially when compared to other options in the PB area). The juice I ordered was ok. It would have been nice to have a staff person offer some recommendations. So, if youve never been here before, make them help you with your choice.

Great food. Very tasty acai bowl and wrap. Good music, plenty of seating, and friendly staff. Disappointed that all utensils and food containers were throw-away plastic. Paper and wood or reusable items would have been better.

Nothing caps off a morning workout in PB like a stop in at The Mad Beet - the latest and greatest smoothie spot at the beach.With clever names and even brighter flavors, theyve got something for everybody - fresh squeezed juices, blended smoothies, sandwiches, and salads.Everything weve sampled so far has been fresh and delicious. Id suggest adding spinach to your fruit smoothie for a nutritious boost, or a bit of nutella to the Jay-C for a tasty twist.

Everything is great. I usually get a wrap and small smoothie and I have yet to try something I didnt like.

I ordered the Bee-40 and it turned out very nicely. Many options, varieties, and add-on’s, the servers were very nice as well.

Im a lifetime community member. Also on some of the local boards. Do not believe the MGR Brian was aware of my presence today on the sidewalk of his establishment. What I witnessed today was toxic aggression against a delivery driver for one of the food delivery companies. According to the driver whom I spoke with after. He walked into the establishment to pick up an order he had accepted. Was given the food. But then taken away because (Brian - MGR) told him the McDonalds coffee cup in the drivers hand couldnt be at the point of drop off to customers door. The driver responded kindly saying that the cup or any item not for a customer wouldnt be at the drop off point, but that Brian has no authority to give him guidelines. Brian then started to question the drivers attire asking about uniform. Being a local for many years and using these services. No one shows up in any uniform. However, this driver was in head to toe clean, form fitting, athletic/causal wear. Hair done, nice beard and smile. Very friendly. Plus he has delivered food for me as well in past. Always communicates when things are delayed, etc...Brian verbally threatened this driver, verbally told him he would take him out back, called him a pu%#y. Got into the drivers face not even inside but on the sidewalk. Barely an inch from the drivers face who was on the phone with the customer and company support. The driver told him calmly this is America and I can stand on public property (the driver was already) standing in the street at thIs point. Brian - MGR verbally responds This is not America, this is Pacific Beach. Now I have called around town and spoken to some friends. This MGR may or may not be former military. But this was not controlled aggression. This was harassment, bullying, intimidation, and abuse. I couldnt believe how calm and grounded the driver was. I would have been so nervous. A police report was filed down the block as Brian left the property at one point when 911 was called. This is a community of all types. My mother, rest her soul taught me you can tell someones character by how they treat an executive and a waiter. This is not ok. My family will not purchase from this merchant this year. I do not believe the driver said anything, did anything, or made any remarks emotionally. Maybe he is military too, as it was a stand off and the driver held his ground. Plus the driver is American born and raised. We choose to support local business, its not our responsibility to keep them in business. Lastly when the driver asked to speak to a MGR Brian said no one here. Yet Brian was, the driver didnt realize this was a MGR. What game is that being played? I believe the driver would have left has he known a MGR was invloved regardless of outcome. Also these drivers have multiple orders at times. A McDonald’s or any other could be going to the same unit, address, building, or customer along with Mad Beet from the same driver. It’s also super bowl why not have everything delivered. Terrible and Crazy!!!

Guy that took our order decided to call my girlfriend a nickname for no reason, refused to make any eye contact, and wouldnt acknowledge my presence. The fruit in the fruit bowl is completely under-ripe, and the same guy put about 40 pounds of cayanne pepper in my juice. Will not be coming back.

Love their açaí bowl and every time I get it with coconut (they charge extra for it), today I barely saw any coconut in my açaí bowl and asked them to add a little more. The girl was pretty rude and asked me to pay extra for it even though I already paid EXTRA for it.I’m disappointed 🤷‍♀️
