This is the worst company. This company is a pain for both practitioners and patients. Shame on insurance companies contracting with them. The low reimbursement rate and the amount of paperwork involved for more treatments are a joke. These guys handle many HMOs (Kaiser) and now PPOs billing. If ASH handles the billing for your insurance, it doesnt matter how many visits you are alloted, whether its 5, 10, 1,000 or 1,000,000 per year, ASH sets the standard and will only allow 5 visits and deny all treatments afterwards. Better to pay cash then to deal with the headache. All doctors and patients need to stop their relationship with ASH. ASH needs to go out of business. Its all about profits and not health with ASH.

So many one star reviews. I used their active and fit gym program. I was charged to my cedit card and not refunded after my gym has been closed for months. I was told I might get a refund in two months. Closed my account. These people are crooks.

Would give zero if I was allowed. Their contracted rates are way higher than having no insurance at all. Im paying for things I have never had to pay for with any of my other three insurance companies. Its also super suspicious when the provider is telling me that the contracted rate is lower than what the insurance company is telling me it is. They do not work for you. They want your money and that is it.

Very difficult company to work with. They require a lot for authorization of care and do not authorize what the treating doctor requests. The reviewing doctor is not of the same profession and regardless of the condition or severity of the patient, they always approve the exact same treatment. They seem to have their profits as top priority and do not have much concern for patient care and well-being.

This organization is the epitome of the wizard hiding behind the curtain. They are a low class uneducated organization regarding medical treatment. They take your money and do not provide ANY customer service or a way to contact them. My company medical insurance company recently pawned our medical plan without any notice and none of my claims have been paid for months. My medical condition is heavily documented and I am treated at the number one Research Hospital in the world for my health condition. I have never been denied treatment coverage for this prior. My treatment was deemed medically unnecessary by American Specialty Health. Without this treatment I have issues breathing, speaking and swallowing.If there were Zero Stars this is what they should receive. They need to be criminally investigated for insurance fraud.

My job is to keep my patients healthy and pain free. ASH gets in the way of me doing my job every step of the way. My goal is to help as many people as possible, so I have been accepting ASH plans, but the reimbursement does not cover our overhead and sometimes payment is never received no matter how many calls and submissions we make. More and more practitioners are walking away from ASH for these reasons. If you can, as a patient and practitioner, I would recommend avoiding this company!

Honestly one of the worst companies I have dealt with in my life. I have Blue Shield of CA and they contract with ASH. I did not know in signing up with Blue Shield that I would have to have contact with them. Reporting them to the CA Department of Insurance.

Negative one star would be better. I didnt realize this company operated like the other horrible gyms that will not let you out of a contract. Its supposed to be coming through Cigna Health. This company is so frustrating they remind me of one of Americas other horrible corporations and I wont mention names.I joined on November 1 and have been calling weekly to get my membership plan to activate at my member gym. The customer service rep is unable to do anything about it and keeps saying she will send the info to IT or the manager but over and over they are unable to return my calls or fix the problem. I would not waster your money on Active and Fit. I just called at 4:45 pm and the manager is already gone. That means she left at 2:45 pm Pacific Time. or before 4:45 pm Central Time, leaving her CS reps to manage the front lines with angry customers. I would like to guess that they listen to the CS calls and ding the poor reps when this badly run company causes customers to lose it.Also, if you want to cancel, you have to write ....get this, write and mail, with an envelope and stamp, an actual letter to the company in San Diego. And then pray, they dont pretend they never got the letter. Its a PO box probably for good reason. I will submit a claim to better business bureau when I have time but I dont have a physical address.Angry customer and tired of this type of business plan associated with fitness centers.

I would recommend other medical providers to stay away from this third-party administration. The worst health insurance company ever. Dont ever expect them to pay contracted providers smoothly, theyve never been! Claims are always sitting there intact for months. No response, no confirmation, no payment, and nothing at all. The only thing ASH ever gives is denials (capitalized) on claims which are completely legit in terms of billing and coding. Providers have to call endlessly and file complaints with the state for attentions on issues raised. Awful.

ASH is the definition of an evil corporation. They collect full payment from insurance that the policy holders pay for and then pay practitioners a fraction of what the patient pays pocketing the profits and making care worse for patients and making practitioners lose money and causes increased admin work. This company is bad for every aspect of health care. All practitioners should stop accepting ASH and all patients should stop buying their plans.

If only my injury was ACTUALLY healed as quickly as ASH claims it is.. Im now having to pay out of pocket for my care (1 Chiropractic visit - adjustment w/ treatment a week) because this company gets to decide when MY BODY no longer needs care.Oh did I mention I pay more out of pocket a month for my care than I do my freakin insurance?..Terrible call Cigna, terrible, terrible call.

Denied my claim twice for OT when my arm is only marginally better from ORIF surgery a few months ago. They clainbto have caredully reviewed my case. BS, i am now worse and will be seeing even more Doctors due to this. Avoid if you can. Calling a lawyer.

They are incompetent. They can not be reached in a timely manner. They keep billing my old insurance company, which if they would Bill the correct company I would have my deductible meet, and it would not cost me $60.00 a visit to my Chiropractor, it would be $15.00. Now, I suffer because I need to go for treatment, but can not afford to.

This company is affiliated with my health care provider and my local gym. The three entities partner together and offer fitness rewards that are usually in the form of a refund check when the fitness goals are achieved. However, my refund check/reward has not been issued and American Speciality Health, Inc., does not have any answers....just some vague excuse that they have a system issue. They cant tell me what the issue is or when its likely to be resolved. It feels very scammy and sketchy and I would not trust this company or any program they are affiliated with.

This company is the worst! Paying a doctor of Chiropractic $15 maximum per day for only 5 visits is absurd! If you need more visits which 99% of our patient do, then we are required to have to fill out several long forms for additional treatment that take up lots of time when we can be helping other patient.

I have been dealing with this company for years, and after numerous denials, for a very serious back problem through out the years, I spoke to an attorney. I had three of my doctors write letters to the effect that my situation requires medically necessary adjustments, 1 x a week at the very least. I have borderline osteoporosis, complicated by a fall and and I am awaiting surgery to fix my second fusion and fracture. I also have hypermobile SI joints which have become very unstable after the fall I experienced. I only go in for a gengle adjustment; on the table to level out my SI joints. If you are denied you have to fight. Have your physician write you a letter regarding your needs. Chiropractic adjustments are the ONLY remedy for me at this point to relieve the subluxation; pinched nerve and un even SI joints. The pain is unbearable if I do not go. Living on a fixed income I need this benefit and will do what I need to do to get. I am paying for it and my doctors agree with me this care is mandatory.

Their Clinical practice guidelines are absurd. They only allowed six visits with six therapies on a patient with severe neck pain with upper extremity radiating pain with severe arthritis. ODG guidelines for this condition would be up to 25 visits.

My husband has been trying for months with this company to schedule chiropractic and Accupunture. They say hes covered, but when he goes to schedule an appointment he is told there is no record of him in the system. He calls ASH and they straighten out the problem. Two more times, most recently this morning, and THE SAME PROBLEM! To say this company is poorly run is an understatement!!
