The cleanest and most professionally run fitness center I have ever experienced. Friendly staff thats always willing to help.

As the father of this dilemma, I have taken it upon myself to expose this gym for its wrongdoings against me and my two children. I am also planning to take them to civil court. I want everyone who reads this to understand that this company tries to steal money from you when you dont even know it. I am not good with English and this is the reason I was scammed out of money that I did not agree to pay. They lied about the membership fees and told me it was gonna be their basic 10.99 one for the family plan and all of a sudden we all have to pay 30 dollars a month. THIS IS A SCAM dont trust this company and especially not this specific gym!

The workers dont enforce you to wear a mask and they dont wear masks either, this prevents them from taking care of themselves. Their equipment broke a few weeks ago and they still havent fixed it. They take advantage of people who dont speak English properly during the contracting and they raise prices on them and other people without asking if they want to upgrade. They scammed my friends and the families of those friends, either because they wanted to or because they thought they could and get away with it due to the language barrier between them. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!

I know crunch and the way they handle business as I have been told many stories through friends and colleagues that they tend to do shady practices. I now have all the proof I need after my friends family was scammed out of their money through shifty contract dealings especially considering one of my friend was actually a minor at the time of the signing. All I can tell you is that if you like to keep your hard earned money, and dont want to get scammed from it... DONT GO TO THIS GYM OR ITS AFFILIATES!

Took advantage of my father for not speaking english well and was able to scam me my brother and my dad out of hundreds of dollars because we were not given the contractual agreement until the day we confronted the manager. She kept trying to pull it off as human error when another worker showed us on the monitor that the deal was actually supposed to be 10 a month instead of 30 for each person. She moved our membership to peak results when no body asked her to. All in all dont go to this gym if you wanna make sure your money is safe, and not to mention they dont really got anything besides weights, no pool, no hot tub like the other gyms so I dont see why anyone would willingly upgrade their membership. Not to mention they made my brother sign a contract in which he was 17 at the time and according to the law you are not allowed to sign a contract if you are below the age of 18, unless it is of an essential items like food, medicine, and/or medical services. Which means this gym broke a law to be able to scam us.I have also written formal complaints to government websites for fraudulent activities and will continue to write in any and all government forms to make sure that Crunch understands the frustration my family went through because the the staff used Cajolery against me and my dad and my brother to get us to sign something that they changed later on.

I had problems in the past with another crunch gym and I want to help my friends family expose the shifty business practices they did to my family from only what I can assume because their dad has a language barrier as he knows how to speak Arabic and not English that well. I am writing down the what my friend down below wrote because what he said is literally exactly what happened. So I will be using his writings to make sure that ANYONE who is reading this BEWARE of this gym and their shifty practices DONT GO HERE!*What my friend said*They actually scammed my family. First month they said would be free, guess what, they lied. The plan was 10$ a month, guess what, they made it 30$. Furthermore, they never actually showed us the contract before signing, nor did they hint at it, they just said sign here, in a digital form where only the box was within sight. And lastly, when we signed the contract, they let and pushed my brother, a minor, to sign the contract. Though my family didnt oppose, they came up to my brother first without explaining it to my parents. Now after canceling they are trying to charge us, which probably came from they shifty contract. My father cant speak English well, which is probably how we got into this mess.

I like this gym, the staff are fine and Ive never been bothered by another memberThey lost a lot of free weights during covid I guess so that can be annoying, and theres only 2 benches that move, but its cheap. Once they replace the lost free weights Id give it 5 stars.Usually not too many people around 2-4:30pm.The general manager was really nice, after getting a 7 day trial on Facebook he offered to waive the join fee so I went for it on day one. Theres a gym maintenance fee once youre there for 2 months, but if you dont use the membership much you can cancel before then with no cancellation fee

If you are here fore weight lifting, find another gym. This is great for those whom are comfortable with cardio... but thats it. The weight lifting portion of the gym is laughably small. There arent enough weights and weight lifting machines for each body part. This gym is notorious for large groups hogging all bench presses and all machines. Its a great gym for overnight and overnight ONLY. Every other time of the day the gym is ridiculously packed and cramped. If they somehow tear down the beauty supply store next door, then I will change my rating to 5 stars but until then this hotel weight room is small, cramped, and uncomfortable.

The manager of this place SCAMMED my friends father who is A NON ENGLISH SPEAKER. They did this by bumping up their original 10$ subscription to 30$ without formal consent. As well as this, they FAILED TO SHOW THE CONTENTS OF A CONTRACT and made them sign a digital form that had not allowed them to view the contract. As well as this, my friends brother, WHO WAS A MINOR, HAD BEEN PRESSURED INTO SIGNING A CONTRACT WITHOUT HIS PARENTS CONSENT. Despite canceling their membership, the gym is still demanding them to pay, by fault of this shady contract. Since his father is not fluent in the language hes unable to fight this and when my friends family expressed their complaints, the manager said in his own words said Good luck trying to take this to court. If this place fails you to show any of the contract DO NO SIGN ANYTHING. His family will be reporting this to government agencys that combat these poor business practices, I pray they get justice for this injustice.

Went here for the first time today. Tons of great, clean, new equipment and lots of open machines. Even with a lot of people there it didnt feel too crowded. The Smith Machine is especially great and I am excited to come back to keep practicing my squats and deadlifts. However, Im knocking off a star for the sheer number of people inside not wearing masks. Someone tried to enter with no mask and they dutifully stopped him and gave him one, which was great, but actually wearing it wasnt enforced beyond the door.

How dare these people rob my best friends for so much money they are already struggling with covid-19 I have seen so much proof from them that they seriously would do such devious acts I hope you lose your business.

This place is dirty! Dusty. No paper towels to wipe down machines. Padding on machines torn and damaged! Thank God for free trial passes that way I knew to run to Planet Fitness.

They scammed a friends family to pay more than they should have to. Plus I cant deadlift here even though Im strong enough. Extremely disappointing.

As much as I’m happy to see a spaced out outdoor gym, the staff here do not enforce mask wearing at all. It’s frustrating to see LESS THAN HALF of the gym goers wearing masks at all (not even mouth covered). The responsibility shouldn’t be on us to have to tell others to wear masks. The staff should be coming outside to check on the gym, help sanitize the machines (which I only see half of the people here even do), and tell people to put their masks on.When I go to check in, I often see staff casually on their phones and chatting. Please put some effort into enforcing this. What’s the point in having a nice space if people don’t feel safe using it?

Poor customer service. If you are there early morning there is no one to greet you. You actually dont even need a membership and you can walk in for free. If staff is there then they are on their phone. Also this branch is not following COVID guidelines to protect the members and staff. No one monitors the outdoor space to ensure the safety of everyone.

They lied about our plan since we were going for family plan and they changed it to peak for all three of us and billed us so much and wouldnt give a refund.

Rude employees. Dirty bathrooms and sauna. Water bottles get left at the same spot for days. And they start turning off the lights 10-15 mins early before they close.

I love that its outside however there are to many people inside at once I cant get a full workout in because all the machine and weights are filled up constantly.

I love the hydro massage.

Love the cleaniness, staff, and overall vibe of the gym. Everybody so friendly, no judgement, no stinky eyes like other gyms. If you want to to go to a gym that gives more for your buck then go to Crunch Fitness, specially the one in University Square, you will not be disappointed.

Would rate 0 stars if i could! unbelievable,i honestly wanna know who is training these people at crunch. One of my friends had received one of these at her work, guess some sort of promotion im not quite sure. Anyhow,i noticed on the back it implies there is a university square location coming soon,and its true ive actually seen the little stand they have going on. So i said why not no ask about this 30 free membership!! sounds like an exciting deal right!??...... well thats what i thought. As i go and ask about the gift card,this African american with dreads is there and it appears as he doesnt wanna be there. I ask him hows his day going and he gets off his phone and just responds with the BLANDEST face with can i help you mam?... like ok sorry for trying to be nice.I ask him what seems to be the promotion with the gift card and he responds with an attitude with mam,were obviously not open,what do you wanna do with a gift card to a place that isnt open and just resumes going on his phone!! LIKE WELL OK THEN.... i immediately left and went straight to planet fitness and explained to them what happened and they were VERY POLITE and understanding

This is a good gym. I was at 24 hour fitness for about 12 years and switched to here when I moved where a 24 wasnt close.Price: cant beat it. 9.99 for one location or around 20 for multiple.The equipment at this specific location is great but the joint is new so lets see how they maintain it over the next year or two or 20.I was sold on the sauna and the cross-fire type portion of the gym. Unfortunately the sauna has been out is service more than in service and isnt very hot. Its a cheap sauna, but again, the price is right.Overall a good gym so far 💪

Absolutely worthless. Staff is not trained at all. I asked for help changing a TV channel and neither employee knew how. I also had to go back many times while needing help. The treadmills would not work on cardio and again they could not get them to work. Last thing I decide to try the hydromassage. Guess what they didnt know how to work those either. The girl tells me she forgot the code so I wait 5 minutes and shes just up front chatting with her co worker. Forgot about me again.Im switching back to chuze. To bad my one day trying to work out is gonna cost me a month plus the yearly fee of like 40 dollars. What a waste of my time and money

Its a newer location so it has newer equipment including heavy bags and other boxing style training equipment. Not 5 stars because its not 24 hours which I thought Crunch was moving to at all locations.

Made the switch from LA fitness. Anticipating the final product will be as good as advertised. The young man with dreads sold me when he mentioned all of the amenities they are supposed to have (sauna, 24 hour availability, turf, punching bags, platforms, classes and more). Service was exceptional and the sign up process was easier than any gym Ive belonged to. As they say, ask and you shall recieve.

Just joined this morning in University Square. People very nice. Lots of equipment. They open the doors this weekend l guess so l will up-date later. Thats why the 5 stars. Proof is in the pudding. Later..........

I had an issue involving all kinds of red tape and me moving because of family tragedy and all kinds of stuff that’s way too complicated to get into in detail, but the end result is that I have this to say, Anthony is fantastic. There was another location that will not be named at which they wouldn’t even help me, and were actually incredibly rude and unsympathetic to say the least. Anthony took it upon himself to make it right, siting that this was not how businesses should be done. He saw me as a person with an issue that needed resolving instead of a client number or a nuisance that would cause him to have to do more work than he’d like to, like others had. He went above and beyond to do good business, and also to be sympathetic, genuine, communicative and honest every step of the way. He took a situation where I initially experienced some of the worst customer service of my entire life and changed it into one where I received the absolute best possible. Any gym with this guy running it deserves your business. Can’t say enough good, or thank you enough times. So once more, thank you Anthony. Sincerely, Paul

I had high hopes for this gym, especially since it took a year to complete. Here are the pros and cons:PROS1. It’s never busy.2. The equipment is new.3. Price.CONS1. Worst music ever! Even when you ask to have it changed, it gets flipped back to rap 10 minutes later.2. Not the friendliest staff when they actually acknowledge you.I guess you really do get what you pay for.

Nice gym but only because it is new. I was told it would open within a month of me signing up...didnt open for another four months after that. Most employees arent friendly either. Wouldnt recommend.

I live right across the street from this location and have been eagerly awaiting their grand opening. Curious as ever, I stopped by the other day to ask about a potential opening date and was told sometime in November. I originally signed up with the in June with Taylor and was told about the complimentary access to the other Crunch locations so that cushioned the blow from the agonizing delays Ive had to endure. Ive only had time to visit the other facilities a few times since signing up but, judging by the extremely friendly staff and amazing amenities at every crunch I have been to, I believe the wait will be well worth it.

Signed up last Saturday and the whole process took about three minutes. Taylor made everything super easy and knew the answer to every question I had. The Crunch in serra mesa isnt open 24 hours though so I absolutely cant wait for construction to be finished here so I can go to the gym late at night.

The only way this location can redeem itself is by having 24 hour availability. Anything short of that will be trumped by nearby competition.9/14/19 Got a membership. Clean gym and friendly staff. The hours meet my needs, but would like to see eventually accommodate a more open schedule like the competition.

I really hope you give all your business to Planet Fitness down the street.They haven’t even opened yet and the service is horrible.I went there after numerous calls that didn’t have any rerouting or machine to see about signing up. When I walked up there was a tall African American gentleman with dreads and a Crunch shirt blaring music under a tent, who looked like he was trying to walk away. When I approached him, I asked when they will be open. Without giving me any eye contact, he stated October maybe. He didn’t try to make conversation or offer anything else. I then asked him if I can sign up for a seven day pass. He stated there was no such thing. I continued by telling him that I had seen a seven day pass for every location except for his online. He then told me, “well, we clearly aren’t open yet so there’s no pass.” In a flippant manner. I thanked him for his time and walked away. Not once did he try to ask me to come back or try to sell me on a plan. I was absolutely ready to sign up for a plan and his lackadaisical attitude let me know that he couldn’t care less. I think they don’t want any business. I then went down to Planet Fitnees, which was less than three minutes away and was greeted by three people. One of them asked if I needed help or had questions. I asked about a pass and they went further and offered me to sign up with the option to cancel anytime. I am now a Planet Fitness member. The hydro massage is worth the membership alone. Signed up in July and the damn place hasnt opened yet!!!! Tried to cancel but Im constantly being told that the manager isnt available. DO NOT waste your money on this place until you see people actually in the gym working out, they just lie to you to get your money.. I wish that I could give this place a -5 stars!

The staff is warm and friendly, they have all the equipment you can ask for, sauna, showers and ALL the Cardio. I look forward to checking out the classes when those are up and running. No Complaints here! My favorite gym.

Signed up in December, GM said the doors would be open mid January...I thought that would give me time to get right before summer (I like to set big goals). It is now the end of February and the number is disconnected. Now I want my dollar back because theres principalities to this thing! Haha

I would give this business a zero if possible. Signed up about 7 months ago, they got my money and a contract I signed for reacurring payment. I was told the gym would open in a few weeks, then October, then November.At sign up they claimed I could use the surrounding Crunch gyms while I wait for this one to open. I have not been allowed to use some of the other Crunch gyms nearby. They are happy to take your money but when you try to call this local gym number, the corporate number or their email, no one is willing to help you figure out how to cancel the contract.I did get a email a few weeks ago with very short sentence that they expect the gym to open soon. I took the opportunity to ask to cancel and get my money back. The manager did not reply.This Crunch could have been good for our community but all they did was end up leaving many of us fustrated and upset.

The gym isn’t packed... I like that. They have a HITT station, lots of treadmills, free weights, and even a SAUNA. Nice! But for what? No commitment fee, annual fee is at its best, no sign up fee, aaaand you have to pay $20 for processing, which I just found out after already swiping my debit card 😑🙄 They’ll sale you away and leave the catch, and their apology is a lame t-shirt. Well, I’m here now

Was supposed to open up last July. It’s now almost May and I don’t even live in the area anymore. When I call to cancel over the phone they say I have to drive back to cancel😒 when they open. I don’t even know when that is. Gym is still not open!!!!!! Don’t bother signing up here. They don’t even have an open gym but they will sign you up with the promise that it will be open soon. Not a good way to do business when you start out by lying or misleading someone

Signed up 13 months ago...2 weeks after it opened its doors started going to the gym and its perfect 5mns away from home and staff super friendly like it 100% so far👍

They said they were going to open in July. Then they said end of August/early September. Now theyre saying early October. They have people spinning signs outside when they need to have those people inside building the gym. It doesnt even look like theyve been working on it. Ill be surprised if they open this year at all.Update as of October: I drove by and all the windows were exposed to show the inside and guess what? Nothing is done. No floors installed, no painted walls, nothing. I thought they would’ve had at least one treadmill up by now lol.

Kinda disappointedWe waited so long and now that the gym is open is missing basic equipment like EZ bar, attachment for cables like rope and EZ bar. No equipment for abs whatsoever.No hack squat machine. Also no mirrors in front of squat racksI asked the guys at front desk and they said we just opened but had no idea if they were getting at least the Ez bar and the attachment for the cablesAlso the AC wasn’t on and was hot as hell inside.I’m willing to wait an extra week but If nothing is improved then I’ll cancel my membership

The low rating is from 1 star reviews when the gym wasn’t open yet. This place is super nice and Marco really hooked me up👌. Saunas in the bathrooms, punching bags, and a good mix of free, machine, and olympic weights. Plus lots of cardio machines and turf. Get the free trial!

The manager of this place was super friendly and helped me and my boyfriend fix our membership issue when we weren’t in the system from signing up months ago. I do only give it three stars because the location doesn’t look anywhere near complete and I believe they’ve been signing people up since February / March. It doesn’t look like it’ll even be done by December which is what bums me out because I’m halfway done with my Weightloss Journey and most likely will be when this location opens. I’ll still use it, I just wish they’d provide more of an estimate for customers, especially since the customers paid. I hope they can provide an update soon instead of leaving everyone in the dark. It was said to be finished in July, then they pushed to August, now sometime in September. I get building a building takes time, but Planet Fitness, when they opened were true to their date. Even months in advanced. I just would like an update or an estimate of the gyms opening. Unfortunately looks like we’re all going to have to wait. I just wish they’d be more transparent. Since transparency thrives far better than hiding in the shadows. But as said, the manager was great, so no hostility to the staff.Also: My boyfriend used to work in the shopping center and explained construction workers used to come in and out all the time. But as of lately it looks like nothing is being done. (I live 3 mins away so I go to this shopping center nearly daily).Changing to one star. I’ll change it back to three when they open. They’re now stating October and this is bad business practice as well as false advertising by promoting wrong and inaccurate dates.

I had the bad experience in my life with this location crunch university. I just sign up 3 days ago and today i went to cancel my membership before get over 5 days for i can get my money back. And i talk to the guy he is tall with long hair he told me get out from the office we don’t have any cancellation membership and no money back you see this the costumer service for crunch university i m not surprised because too many costumers they gave them bad reviews good luck crunch university lol...I hope google give the right and give one million bad review. The worst company ever!! Do not get a membership here! It is a scam. Marco and karley are the worst customer service representatives, they were no help! Billed us for a gym that took over a year to open and wouldnt let us go to ant other gyms.

If you live in the area you know only Plant fitness and 24 hours are in the area and i say stick to those gyms. me and my finace signed up in june and were told that Crunch will be opening in September its is less then a week from october. It will be 5 months since i signed up and still nothing to show for it. I since signed up at planet fitness right down the road which is also 24hrs and will be canceling my menbership hopefully that goes well. Will update the situation. If anyone is considering signing up with this place id say hold out idk what type of business practice this is, but it is a horrible one. Having a certain amount of pledges before you open is not the way to go. Who knows if they will even open?
