Very rude on the phone. He only works a few hours a day. They don’t take Medicare, they don’t have anyone else that they can refer me too. I’m going to have to go to f’ing Mexico to get treatment because doctors like this clearly do not care if people are suffering.

Like many others, the front office staff has brought me here hoping to prevent another person (you reading this) from wasting time at this poorly run establishment. I was told to arrive at 9:30 for my appointment. At timely check in I was told I was late, scheduled for 9a, and could no longer be seen - subsequently dismissed.I didn’t imagine being another statistic. Here I am. Don’t waste your time or money here.

I am not one to write negative reviews, but after multiple disappointing calls with this office, I felt it was time.The receptionist is rude/discriminatory. I have been trying to book an appointment with the Dr. since April 2018 (one year I had a HMO plan and the other a PPO). When I had the HMO plan, I called asking if he was taking new patients because I would like to make him my PCP. The receptionist said he was taking new patients, but then proceeded to ask why I had chosen the Dr. I explained how I was referred to him by my acupuncturist because I have Lyme disease and had heard he specializes in it. When I mentioned this part, she said he actually wasnt taking new patients and proceeded to hang up on me.When I got a PPO plan, I tried calling again to make an appt. with the Dr. (not to make him my PCP as you dont need one with a PPO), but to come in to be seen by him. The office told me hes only seeing new patients with HMO plans. I called the receptionist out and said that I did call when I had a HMO plan to make him my PCP, but was denied then too. She simply said Hes not taking PPOs. Bye.Tip to the receptionist: If the office just isnt taking new Lyme disease patients, then say that. It comes across a lot better and would have avoided this review (if thats the case).

Extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL front office management. I would NOT Recommend this doctors office to anyone. As a physicians practice it is imperative your employees have compassion & empathy... and unfortunately Dr. Novaks office assistant Brenda is one of the most awful people Ive ever been forced to interact with in my entire life. Moving forward I suggest you treat your patients feelings & circumstances with more consideration. Do not come here- I hate that I even had to give this place 1 star to write a review, because they certainly don’t even deserve it.

He might be a great doctor, but contacting his office and being able to talk to a live person, is almost impossible. He is very busy and very difficult to get a hold of. It is too early to talk about his skill and expertise since I have not seen any result from the treatment which is basically a diet, but once I know I will update my post. May be he is a great doctor and worth all the waiting, but I do not know yet.

Dr. Novak is a true diamond in the rough! He is far more intelligent, compassionate and up to date on research than any Harvard doctor I have seen. I highly recommend him and would consider him one of the best doctors in all of California. A+

Dr Novak is awesome. My back went out and he immediately gave me a steroid shot and muscle relaxers with great referrals. Since then its super easy to talk to him and just get better fast.

Great Dr! The first one who is actually willing to treat my illness. He takes his time with you and actually cares. Love that he blends holistic medicine with western medicine.

I have only seen the NP Pam when I have visited his office but my overall experience has been very positive. I work as a nurse and find Pam to be carrying and attentive. I will continue seeing her.

Been a patient here for about a year and half and have never met Dr Novak. I been into the office about 6 times and can never get an appointment with him. Every time I call, his next availability has always been a month from when I call, but have seen their nurse practitioner, who is very nice, every time as her availability is much more flexible. Their office also has really crappy hours for appointments, last appointment is 3:45 and no Fri/Sat/Sun.Will definietly be getting a new DR when I can at the end of the year. Would NOT recommend.

Honestly, they never answer the damn phone. The nurse practitioner (dont plan on seeing Dr. Novak, I dont think hes even a real person) recommended a nebulizer for my breathing, she told me that I have to give her different pharmacys information and she would have to call and see if they carry nebulizers. At first I thought okay, no biggie, Im sure the CVS at Target will have one. Not. She called to tell me that they didnt carry them and I called her immediately back, no answer. So, now I am without a nebulizer because I dont know what pharmacy carries one. I am struggling to see why I am the one that is trying to find it....shouldnt that be what your doc tells you? Hey, go to this pharmacy, and they will have what you need to get you better. Just really frustrated and out of breath. Nice people for sure, just dont go if you are in need of help same day. I called the next morning at 9AM and got a voicemail. Will be looking for a new doc. End rant.

As a former Paramedic, EMT and ocean lifeguard, I ask you to be very aware of this place.I only chose this practice because my new health plan directed me here, and its close to my house on the bay.You just dont tell a patient that your annual preventive physical is FULLY COVERED under your plan, and then go and bill a patient, being me, for $175. Especially if its something as minor as a little blister that the nurse Pam advised to look at. And she then goes and codes it finding anyway to get money. That alone is most dishonest thing Iv ever seen in the medical world. I understand that our system can be bad like this, but Iv saved over 200 lives in my medical career and I see right through their little scam.I could run a better practice than this after just Pre-Med. Dont be one of their victims, and choose a place that has more honesty and integrity. Let me know if anyone has any questions who took the time to read this.

Dr. James Novak is truly an awesome and very knowledgeable Doctor, he is so amazing. After suffering for almost 3 years with no answers, I have finally found a doctor who knows how to treat my illness and has me on the right path.

He is very knowledgeable in holistic medicine.
