Dr. Azam Shamani is the best Persian doctor in San Diego that I met. She pays a lot of attention to your health and takes her time to make sure the patients health is great. I don’t know how I can ever appreciate her🌹

Did not see doctor shamani, but her fill in while she was out on vacation, and her fill in was the worst experience Ive ever had in my 25 years.I couldnt ask questions, she kept talking over me everytime I was trying to explain something, and she was hyperfocused on obtaining knee surgery records from 10+ years ago, when my appointment was for hormones and bloodwork- which is completely unrelated. Also when answering the anxiety/depression screening, I circled answers applicable to my life, and my screening came back indicating i had severe depression/anxiety, however instead of asking me to elaborate on my answers so she could better understand, her response was are you sure your not exaggerating. then she put in a referral for me to see a pscyhotherapist (which is completely unneeded) when i was solely there to discuss WEIGHT GAIN AND HORMONES. Incredibly let down

Dr. Shamani still could not adapt virtual environment during this pandemic. I scheduled appointment 4 weeks a head of time for confirmed appointment at 10 am but she called me at 8pm and this happened many times.She referred me to specialist , but specialist have not received any authorization from Dr. Shamani after 2 months. Her staffs are unprofessional and work slow.She speaks too loud with argument. She has difficulty to explain and good communication with patients.

Let me start by saying it took me 3 years of being treated poorly to write this review. Just terrible. You have appointments that are not honored ,Never on time(90 mins late usually) . Even lets walk-ins go before you. Theyll sit there and lie when it comes down to paper work. Refills. Not to mention when i tore my mcl (30 years of age) she said its just swollen no p.t. or mri needed that Im OLD. The front desk is so unorganized. They will give wrong adresses. 20 min phone holds which is probably normal but at least other places care for thier patient.

This place is a joke.i feel sorry for anyone that actually has a medical condition and needs a doctor/specialist. I thought my first bad encounter was a fluke but was surprised as this happenes everytime I go there. The staff does not or should I say might call you back 50% of the time, I have to actually tell them to please not hang up on me and to please call me back. As of now Oct 27, Ive been going back and forth calling them sense the 15th of October to have an apointment with the pulmonologists that they have referred me to. They gave me the referral on the 15th and told me to wait 3 to 5 days to call them to schedule my appointment, fine. I did that and as soon as I called the pulmonologist they said they have received nothing, so I call shamanis office back and could not get through, I call them again the next day this is around the 22nd 23rd, and I get through and they said they have faxed it... ok, cool. So I call the pulmonologist told them and they said nope, so Im back and forth with them, now I wouldnt blame anyone it could be a mistake, but they also had a referral for the ENT and not only did they not fax the referral to the ENT they faxed it to the hearing aid doctor in the same building, so I had to do that one all over again and by the grace of God the ENT went ahead and scheduled me an apointment, each day that goes by my apointment that Im trying to get with the pulmonologists get pushed further and further away. This is really stressful as Im having asthma symptoms, I also consider this MALPRACTICE, im sure this is a good cosmetic type place but I was looking for a good PCP and was referred to this office from my friend who ALSO HAS TO keep calling them to follow up on any labs she gets or results, I understand they can be busy and like I said it could be a fluke, but it happens EVERY TIME. I actually had to WALK in to get an apointment on my last visit the 15th because they would have just scheduled me a week or 2 away. Not sure if its because Im male or my skin color or beard but its like I try to explain my symptoms to unsympathetic ears, Jesus the first time I went in there she said I tore my bicep and would need surgery literally like 2 weeks later my bicep is 100%. It was a muscle strain. Soo... I dont know whats going on here, I dont know how they have 5 stars because all the 1 star bad reviews seem to be on par with what Ive seen and witnessed there. Sorry but malpractice is not a joke, and I just got off the phone with them (27th) and still nothing I have to again call back tomorrow and start the game all over again. After I get my apointments with the ENT and pulmonologist I will be leaving this doctor and looking for a new one. If anyone knows a good PCP in the san diego please let me know. Could you imagine if the staff and Dr Shamanis older family members had to go through this? Im young and have the patients to be hanged up on, put on hold for hours and lied to, but I doubt our elderly community patients would have the strength i have to deal with this madness, hopefully this review will help people without a voice.update: it is now the 28th, Ive called both shamanis and the pulmonologists. the pulmonologists said they have now received my referral BUT my insurance dosnt cover them. guess who is in charge to find referrals that accept my insurance?? you guessed it dr. shamanis staff. ok so I call them back and they are so sorry and that they are going to find me another doctor... mind you this is 9am, so I wait and wait again, and now they call me back at 3pm with a new doctor and I have to call them, so I call them and they call me back later with an apointment! the 9th of November.so I started all of this on the 15th of October with symptoms and will not be seen untill the 9th of November. 6 days shy of a month.UnprofessionalNeglectful and uncaring.

I picked Dr.Shamani because my brother needed a Primary doctor and we are so happy with our decision. She is amazing and makes you feel so welcomed and comfortable. Her office is cozy and her staff are very polite. If you need a doctor she is definitely one to consider.

The nurse Yanni is always so sweet, but to have a doctor order un nessassry blood work, is totally ridiculous, I specifically asked for a vitamin panel to check my vitamin levels, she asked me what vitamin levels I needed checked! She ordered a kidney blood work and diabetes and a few other vitamin levels of her choice, she does not seem to have knowledge of Gastric Bypass Surgery for weight loss!

If I could give less stars I would. I had a morning appointment, and no other patients were in the waiting room when I got there. Despite this, Dr. Shamani kept me waiting in a patient room for almost an hour while I could hear her talking in another room. A few weeks later, I received a very expensive invoice because, although I was told my insurance was accepted by her office prior to and at the time of my appointment, apparently it has been denied because of a diagnosis she made. I have not been informed of any diagnosis. My appointment was in May it is now July, and after continuing to call and email to request an explanation of what this diagnosis is, I have received NO explanation. I am always told that Dr. Shamani will get back to me. I have expressed that I refuse to pay for something without explanation, and they have not even paused or extended the due date of this charge while they keep me waiting for an answer. This is extremely unprofessional, I have never had such a horrible experience with a doctor. Do not recommend.

I think after only one visit to her office and two telehealth visits I will be happy being under her care. I found her accent to be a bit difficult to understand although I am sure I will get used to it as time goes on...

She is an amazing doctor. A doctor with high knowledge and very patient. She answers all my questions patiently. I recommend this doctor to those who are not happy with their doctor or whose treatment has not been satisfactory.

She wants to see you become a better person and to improve in your daily life but not the staff. I called and asked for a refill for my pain medication due to a dislocated shoulder and the nurse started laughing and told me I was going to have to wait until the end of the month. Even though my script was only for 20 days. I will now have to call the doctors main phone number after office hours to try to get more medication that I require. It’s very annoying that I have to suffer in pain because of other people’s mistakes

I’ve came in here only twice, the first time was so that i had a doctor here in san diego, the second time was to get an ear lavage. Her assistant was checking my bpm and did NOT release the air valve as she was checking my heart rate and only released it after she was finished. My arm was instantly bruised and my blood rose to the surface under my skin. Her staff is unprofessional and talk as if they hate their jobs. Also a bit pushy with trying to get procedure done that I do not want done. She’s had her office staff call me to ask me to make an appointment for something I never brought up or even asked for. The only positive about this office is that my medicine gets refilled.

THE STAFF ONE DAY WILL MAKE YOU WAIT FOR 1-2+++ HOURS FOR A 1 MINUTE QUESTION.

I am SO glad I picked Dr. Shamani as my primary care doctor! I feel so lucky to have found her. Her genuine care is unmatched, she actually listens to you, gives you great advice and is so knowledgeable. Most doctors want you in and out as fast as possible, this isnt the case with her. You can tell she has your best interest at heart.

Very professional & caring practice . Staff calls and gives friendly reminders of pending appointment. Doctor is fluent in German and Farsi. Staff is fluent in Spanish, and is quick to submit medication prescriptions and medical equipment request, referrals and labs. Also offers Botox. I would definitely recommend this caring practice to a friend.

Dr.Shamani is by far the best doctor Ive ever seen. She is not only caring and kind, she actually cares about the well being of her patients. She is professional and takes her time with each person. Sometimes that means her appointments run later than desired, but she is giving each person the time and attention the require for their visit.I love coming to the office and getting the one on one with her. She is thorough and attentive. She will use her vast knowledge to treat you, in the way that is best for you.And she does gynecology! (Which is not at all uncomfortable with her!)I wish I could give her a higher rating, I really love this doctor and the manner in which she holds herself.Thanks for being so wonderful Dr. Shamani!

I love her she’s my favorite doctor I’ve had. I’ve seen her twice so far! She listens to all the questions I ask and she is very smart! Her staff is really nice too and listened to all my complaints. Setting an appointment was convenient, I was able to see her within a week.

I love Dr. Shamani so much. She is incredibly kind, caring, intelligent and knowledgeable. She has great bedside manner and genuinely cares about each and every one of her patients. She is also very transparent and honest -- an aspect of her I appreciate very much. She is always spot on with diagnoses and cautiously approaches treatment while considering the patients wants and needs. I have been seeing here for almost 4 years now and I wouldnt think twice about changing my PCP to anyone else. She really is the best at what she does. I have been with Dr Shamani for almost 6 years. When i first came to her I was very sick. She took me in when other doctors prolonged to get me help. She acted quick and got me the help I needed. On the weekends on her day off she knew how ill i was and she would call me to check in on me. From then on I knew i found my doctor. She has always been so kind to me. I cant thank her enough. My experience with Dr. Shamani and her staff have been ONLY outstanding! I highly recommend her as a doctor. She has made very good decisions regarding my health and well being. I give Doctor Shamani a 5 star she’s good at what she does I’ve been with her for over a year. But let me tell you her staff is horrible Claudia is so grumpy and you can tell she don’t like her job she tries so hard to boss around the other girls around. She’s always been rude to me since she started working. I don’t know what her problem is with me. I liked it before when rosa was in the front desk. But overall the doctor gets 5 stars.

I think she’s a good doctor and knowledgeable very professional and nice. However, I waited almost an hour. I have three kids work full-time my time is very very valuable so I would like to keep her as my doctor but I can’t afford the time to wait I’m going to give her another chance though.

Dr.Shamani is amazing, compassionate, and you can see why with how busy she is. I will only be going back to her, her staff is so kind and funny. The office is greatly decorated and you can tell everyone is really close there.

Charged me for $500 worth of screenings and immunizations which I was not given and did not consent to being charged for. Talked to me like a child who had no understanding of their own medical conditions. Prescribed me medication when I expressly asked not to be prescribed. Beware many of these fake reviews, there are lots of people who have been scammed by this charlatan.

Dr. Shamani and her staff were extremely helpful and kind. She takes the time to thoroughly explain everything to me and listens to any concern I have. Best experience I’ve ever had with a doctor.

I had already booked an appointment and charged to my card thinking that they will refund. I know it is not legal to charge for annual physical. Posted as in network with my insurance, but still charged me. Will be reporting them to my insurance and state department. They should have stated they do not take insurance but they are listed as part of my insurances network.Gave extra star becuase the doctor seems like she is knowledgeable.

I had an appointment with her for a work related exam. She told me specifically one thing but told my work the exact opposite. I felt like she was dishonest and feel like that is a horrible trait to have as a physician.

Im very surprised to see the 1 stars on Dr. Shamanis profile. She is beyond efficient! Dr. Shamani is knowledgeable, caring, detailed, patient, vigilant and straight forward- which I personally love.She will answer as many questions as you need and will never brush off your concerns or be condescending like some docs are when you have questions. She is thorough when examining and explaining any lab results or questions you may have regarding a prescription or report.As to her staff - most of the time they are on their A game, Ive had only 1 issue with an appt- and in the two years, since Ive been seeing my Doc- no other problems :).. Highly recommend her office and services!

Nice enough lady, it seems, upon meeting. Zero communication or follow up. I’ve been trying to get ahold of her for months to get info on a lab. Absolute worst. During my physical she didn’t even check my chest for lumps. Seems more interested in cosmetic medicine.

Doctor Shamani is a great physician. Unfortunately her staff is the absolute WORST! They are extremely rude, incompassionate, and unprofessional people. Especially if you are of a ethnic background. Avoid at all cost, there are other doctors in the area that can preform the SAME services (including multi-language)

Dr. Shamani was attentive during my appointment. However, her office staff is potentially the worst that I have ever encountered. They are inefficient and unapologetic. I received a referral at the time of my appointment to see a specialist. Two months and 10+ phone calls later, Dr. Shamanis staff is still working to complete the referral and authorization process.PLEASE avoid this office at any cost. It is absolutely unacceptable to have to wait this amount of time to receive medical care.

Her office has a very warm and friendly invirment with positive Energy.And all het staff are so nice and caring.Dr. Shamani is very kind and nice and caring,also so talented and KNOWLAGABE .I had some health issue and Severe anxiety andDepression , and bad back pain. I saw a few doctors but they couldnt figure it out what my problem was . Dr. Azam Shamani is a kind, knowledgeable,informative physician who genuinely cares about her patients . She gives me ,the patient, the most valuable asset shes got ; her time and vast experience . Her knowledge of Parkinsons to rheumatoid arthritis is reassuring . When I visit the office I dont see a P.A.,I see Dr. Shamani and her cheerful , courteous staff ever ready to help . She is not overbooked , therefore I the patient am the sole focus of her attention .Upon retirement, I scoured the internet for a doctor, having lost my work insurance , I was frantic with worry , finally I found Dr. Shamani . I called the office , they were so nice I decided to register myself and my husband and made an appointment . The staff made a long appointment as it was our first .On arrival at the office we were welcomed by Dr. Shamani and her staff, and we were amazed at the kindness shown to us.Before the visit ended Dr. Shamanis staff had set up referrals to other physicians , requested prior authorizations for medications , their attention to detail is second to none .It wasnt for financial gain , as we no longer have a P.P.O. We are well below that level now .Having been in many doctors offices over the years when I had a P.P.O., and my insurance was paying out vast sums of money , per visit, it was policy, in some of them, which shall be nameless that the nurse would knock on the door to move the doctor on and say , Dr. Your next patient is waiting . Whereby the doctor would quickly wrap up and disappear .Not so with Dr. Shamani, this lovely lady has a true vocation to help sick people , she is not doing this for financial gain as I know from my health insurance prospective , as I no longer have the P.P.O.,that pays the high co pay .I highly reccommend Dr. Shamani without reservation to anyone needing a dedicated , kind, intelligent physician . She has restored my faith in the medical profession .She puts her patients first God bless her .

Dr. Shamani is a doctor that really cares about you. She has a wonderful beside manner and goes above and beyond to make sure you receive the best treatment.

Went in for a routine checkup, she billed my insurance company for all sorts of services not received (preventive medicine, etc.) - insurance company rightfully refused to pay - she billed me directly - I refused to pay and it is now the only blemish I have ever had on my credit report. Beware.
