From the lovely office to the welcoming not usually at the front desk woman at the front desk to the doctors kind and fun nature and knowledge, my first experience here was wonderful! While doing my exam and chatting about my specific needs, the doctor printed all the referrals that I need, as if by magic, so they were ready to go as we exited the exam room. She addressed all my concerns with kindness and understanding, and offered suggestions on how to accomplish my goals.I have never said this about a doctor before, but I cant wait to go back!

I just moved to the area from the other side of the country. I was in the middle of being treated for a condition that cropped up a few months before moving. In my first appointment with Dr Hegyi, she listened to me and came up with a plan of action. I left with referrals, lab orders, and the feeling that shell help me get back on track with treatment and find the best path to healing.

Pass this place going 150mph. Terrible provider that only cares how she is going to get paid. If you are ready to be ignored for over a year and just end up in the emergency room anyway, go straight to ER it’s a lot cheaper with better care. And you can’t call this office, it’s either a text or third party app you have to download. RUN AWAY

Please avoid having her as your primary care if possible. Despite all the 5-star reviews, please read some of the 1 star reviews and you will see what are the common issues patients face here.To get down to it, the communication via phone, text, email, and in-person are just terrible. It boils to do, information all get lost here and there, and they end up blaming it on you and argued you misunderstand or were confused. For refill on prescriptions, we have to HUNT them down to refill them before the medication runs out. For referrals, they would give you specialists that are at least 30min drive from where you live and ones who are not even accepting our insurance. We ended up having to find the specialist ourselves and asked them to send referral form. But even then, there were so many back and forth and mistakes.WOULD NOT PICK UP YOUR CALL. After having the first incident of the refill request (and of course many more later on), it definitely looks like they are AVOIDING your call. From what I saw, they call their patient from a cell phone and so they can see your number. To check if I am assuming this correctly, I called with a different phone number and they immediately picked up! Not to say they were shock that it was us and a bit embarrassed.TALKING DOWN ON YOU. We would ask questions or clarify things with Dr.Hegyi but she comes off impatient and cold and would repeat what she just said. In our opinion, as a primary care doctor, she should listen to the patient and hear them out on what they have to say and HELP clarify anything that they want to understand. But she definitely likes to say what she wants and move forward. We confronted her receptionist and Dr.Hegyi about their mis-handling on a prescription, but as one of the reviewers perfectly said, both her staff and herself were defensive and dismissive. Instead of apologizing for their mis-handling and miscommunication on their part, they just dump it on you and say “well, we just don’t know what happen”.We do not feel welcome and care for by her staff and the doctor herself. We are definitely switching to a different primary care.

I was in search of a new primary care doctor and came across her seeing how she accepted my insurance, Medi-cal, and had a lot of 5-star reviews. I had high hopes I finally found someone better than the last one I had as she did not explain much in regards to my test results and sadly Dr. Hegyi greatly disappointed me as well for different reasons. My first new patient visit in November 2020, she appeared nice, understanding, and caring, but then I realized midway during my visit, we might knock heads as I am the type of patient where I do my own research as well before taking medication and I save all my records. I like being informed when it comes to my health. I am not one to just accept something without second opinions or researching for my piece of mind. She wanted to put me on HBP meds, that first visit and I declined. Of all the other places I have gone to and had my BP measured, hers came out the highest on both visits. The second not as high. It should take several readings before a doctor puts you on meds. The first visit she had me reading at 150 and then to the end, at 160 and she goes and says, SEE! Well, yeah, listening to her stressed me out. I am not one to do stuff out of fear. On my first visit, I just let it go and was there mainly so I could just get a referral to have bloodwork done. Well, it is not worth it. I can get it on my own and pay for it myself. On my second visit is where things did not go so well and I wont just let it ride like on the first visit. I had my blood work finally down after 6 months of stalling because of the pandemic and when I went in to get my results she goes and wants to put me on Statins right away without taking one more important test to confirm partical size which is also important. I just mentioned I wanted to do the lifestyle changes first and that I was not surprised my triglycerides were high with the way I was eating during the past year with the pandemic and I planned on getting retested in 6 months even if I had to pay for it on my own.I wanted to look into the statin she wanted to put me on first. At some point, she said, Dont think you can outsmart me. I am smarter than you. When she said that, that was the final straw for me. You do not say stuff like that to someone who is already depressed and filled with anxiety due to being out of work and not having much hope at the time. I was not questioning her ability as a doctor per se, but I am one to check out stuff on my own to make a sound decision instead of just doing whatever a doctor tells me.In closing, I do not feel like a doctor or dentist should speak down to you or treat you any different just because you have state-provided insurance. I feel more people need to speak up when they do, but most do not. When I told my insurance about my experience, they were appalled and asked if I wanted to file a complaint and at the time I said no, cause I wanted to address this matter with her first. I sent the place an email and stated my concerns and no one ever responded back. Now, if she or the office person, whom I have had no issues with, came back and said, WE, or I am sorry, the outcome would have been different for me and I would not be writing this review. I will now file my complaint with my insurance company and seeking a different primary care doctor. It is a shame cause I liked the location, the office and both of them working there. No loss to her though cause I am not a guinea pig to be placed on meds that involve ongoing visits for follow-up.

Don’t Go If you are a new Patient. It’s a Scam! New Patient fee is $297!I attempted to go in as a new patient for a physical. I had scheduled an appointment 6 weeks in advanced. 1 hour prior to my appointment, the office called me to let me know that due to my PPO insurance didn’t have a defined enough co-pay plan, the upfront co-pay was going to be $297 and that my insurance wasn’t going to cover it. I asked them to confirm again that this was a co-pay for preventive care and they said yes, it is a $297 co-pay that my insurance wouldn’t cover. They even offered me a financial plan because they understand how high of a fee that is. I called my insurance right afterwards and my insurance said they would cover the $297 co-pay because it is preventive care. When I got to the office for the appointment, I brought my insurance benefit package and mentioned that my insurance said they would cover the $297 co-pay without a problem. Then I was told by the front desk “Well other offices may charge $150 for new patient to get medical records and files but we charge $297.” I asked “is this a co-pay or a fee for being a new patient?” The response was “This is a new patient fee.” I walked away, I have never been so upset and mislead by a business before. It is a total scam that the office has a plan to wait an hour prior to the appointment to say you need to pay a $297 co-pay. Then, when you get to the office and call them out on the misleading term “co-pay” they change the term to “new patient fee” for $297.I’ve been to urgent cares and hospitals since asking if they charge an upfront $300 new patient fee. Every response was “that’s ridiculous.”

Please, if you are a new mom reading this and planning to attend this practice, please cancel your appointment immediately and rebook with another doctor who will take better care of you.I have never been so appalled with a practice and with a doctor in my entire life. My husband and I recently moved here to California a week ago and I have been having some very serious health concerns (throwing up with dairy, lump in breast, many many more). I wanted to see a specialist but all appointments were booked until Monday. I found Dr. Edit Hegyi at Silvergate was available on a Friday and seemed to have qualifications to answer some of my questions, so I booked an appointment with her for the next day.I arrived on time but struggled to find the office. It’s not in an obvious location. I called the office and no one answered. I had my 4-month old with me and was struggling to calm him down while I found the location. After getting him loaded up in the stroller, I was able to find an elevator to enter the practice on the second floor. When I got to the door, it was locked. It was 1:47 when I arrived, and my appointment was at 1:40. I saw a nurse inside and she took her time coming to the door. She opened it and said “hi, sorry we locked the door for lunch.” Ok... I thought... kind of strange but I went inside. She processed to sit down and ignore me. I was very confused so I signed in on the clipboard. She finally looked up and asked me for my insurance and ID. I gave her both and she gave me a 10-page form to fill out. I kept getting weird looks from her but I couldn’t figure out why. I felt very out of place and very nervous. She came up to me after copying my IDs and proceeded to tell me “So we don’t allow children in here. You probably didn’t know that. Let me check with the doctor to see if you can still attend your appointment.” and walked back to talk to Dr. Hegyi. To say I was floored was an understatement. Here I am, in a new state, with my 4-month old, and this practice expects me to what, leave him at home?!? To make matters worse, she gave me a document stating their policy rules about children. Which in my mind read, we hate children, so don’t bring them. I felt so out of place and frustrated.I considered leaving then but really wanted help and hoped the doctor would allow us to stay. She did, and the nurse walked me back to the room. I waited for another 15 min for her to come in (at this point it’s been 1 hour in an empty office for me to see her). She walks in, sits down and slumps against the wall. She says, “hi, how can I help you today.” In the most monotone voice. So warm, and welcoming. Not. I gave her the short version of my story because it was obvious she didn’t care, and she then talks at me, telling me how I need to take a $500 test that’s not covered by insurance to find out what’s wrong with me. She kept giving my baby dirty looks, and actually stopped talking at one point and glared at him until I put his binky in his mouth. She also told me that she thinks I need to be on anxiety medication, but said she really doesn’t like to recommend that people take medication.I finally had enough and said, “I think I’ve made a mistake coming here today, I’m leaving.” She looked me up and down and asked, “Well what did you expect from this visit today?” I said, “Not this!!” And walked out immediately.I have never felt so discriminated against in my entire life just for being a new mom. This practice is absolutely horrific and I hope with all my heart that no new moms have to experience what I went through.**The no children policy was made in 2015, pre-Covid by the way. I had no warning via email or a phone call that this was a policy. Really disgusted by their “MAPP”

They do not answer the phone or properly end conversations (via text). Information tends to get lost in translation via text messaging. The front desk staff is very unresponsive and careless. They gave me a referral for a practice and sent the insurance authorization to a different practice. That was after, I contacted them multiple times, in addition to my insurance company and the specialist that they listed on the referral. This caused me to have to pay out of pocket to be seen after already waiting weeks for the appointment. Dr. Hegyi was very defensive and dismissive when I confronted them about the careless error. It was the only time they did not respond with a text message and abruptly end the conversation. Furthermore, when I called to tell them that I needed my referral and appointment expedited because of a family emergency. They didnt even bother responding.
