Dr came in on his days off to continue treatment after surgery as we traveled here from out of state to have this done. Wonderful facility!

I had a most comfortable experience with my cataract surgery. Every precaution and interaction was to insure my safety and provide a successful experience. The staff is extremely professional and so personable! Special arrangements are made for those who have to travel great distances to receive this expertise and skills! They are the best!

The office is clean and orderly. Staff is friendly and helpful. I was there to have my eyes checked and discuss cataract surgery. The doctor discussed options, process and which options would be out-of -pocket. I talked with a scheduler, but needed to sort out logistics before scheduling. I have her card and will call her back on Monday! I trust their skill and processes totally.UPDATE: I had both cataracts taken care of this week. The Maria and the nurses were so attentive and nice. Dr. Z is awesome! He explained what was happening at each step and what to expect as it happened. Interesting! Everything went smoothly and was a successful. Grateful!

Great customer service and staff. They were all very friendly, professional, and caring. I dont think I could of asked for a better place to go to get my lasik surgery done. With the surgery itself they made me very comfortable and told me what they were doing every step of the way (which I really appreciated) I have and will continue to highly recommend this place!!

Intake Staff was excellent, especially David when I called in to ask for support and information. The Office staff and technicians (Rayne, especially) were outstanding, funny, thorough and put my stressed-out self right at ease. Dr. Carter was also reassuring, very thorough, patient with his explanations. I was so grateful to be in good hands all around.

This Summer I went to Dr. Wolsey at the Eye Institute of Utah. I had cataract surgery on both my eyes. I now have 20/20 vision and the only glasses I need are for reading. Dr. Wolsey did a fantastic job and I would recommend her to others in need of cataract surgery.

Dr. Wolsey is simply the BEST! I have been coming to her for years and my eyes finally got to the point where i required cataract surgery. I had no idea what to expect and was a little nervous. The staff and Dr. Wolsey were amazing!! So kind and patient and truly calming. Every person from the desk to the back was fabulous! If you have eye needs, this IS the place to come.

I first had an eye exam with Dr. Carter. It was done very professionally and everyone was very friendly. He determined I had cataracts and needed surgery. He recommended Dr. Bretz. I meet with her at at later date and setup my surgery. I liked that everything was explained that would happen and when. The days of the surgery went very well. My wife had her cataracts done a couple years ago at a different center. She felt I got a lot better treatment and explanation of the procedure at the Eye Institute than she did. I had a great experience with everyone I dealt with at the eye institute. Would highly recommend their services.

Dr. Carter is a gentleman affiliated with EIU for more than 30 years. I feel that he spent an adequate amount of time examining my eyes, counseling me regarding some minor eye issues. Further, Dr. Carther specializes in dry eye syndrome. He recommended an OTC product for this condition. I use the product daily as needed and feel less irritation, more especially, when working on the computer. Thanks Dr. Carter....

I’ve been seeing Dr. Zavodni for the last 3 months for shingles in my eye. I have only the highest praise for him—he’s caring, extremely knowledgeable, and sympathetic. But most of all—he has approached my medical condition with precision and detail. And in doing so, has come up with solutions that have helped my eye.And I imagine he is the same with all of his patients.I appreciate that he actually listens to me and validates my concerns—which I have found to be a rare quality in a doctor.He needs to be cloned—the people from Utah would greatly benefit from more doctors like Dr. Zavodini. I highly recommend him.Last—excellent staff—from the front office to the back office—they are all friendly and accommodating!

This was the second facility I visited before deciding that this was the place where I wanted to go. If surgery can be pleasant, this was it! Dr. Z. is so very personable, kind, and attentive. The staff was extremely nurturing and reassuring before and during the first eye surgery that I was able to relax and look forward without anxiety to the same treatment for the second eye. I most definitely recommend The Eye Institute of Utah over any other place for ones eye care.

Super! I have had both eyes with new lenses and now just had YAG after 5 years but wish I had done it sooner! I see so clear and sharp! Like someone cleaned very dirty windows or gave me a major upgrade on vision. You will however see your wrinkles better too. YIKES!

Got my Lasik here about a year ago and just came in for my 1 year follow up. Theyve taken great care of me and my appointments are always smooth and fairly quick. Would highly recommend for Lasik and any Eye Care you might need!

My consult appt went very well. I got an in-depth look at what was going on with my eyes. Although it ended up that Im not a candidate for surgery, my experience with The Eye Institute was fantastic.

The surgeon, Dr Passi, was fantastic. The LASIK procedure was quick, painless, and everyone made me as comfortable as possible. There was however several things that weren’t properly communicated to me that I think could be improved… I was never initially told to schedule myself to allow for a 7-10 day post op appointment (I was almost out of town for this timeframe) and it was also not well communicated that after the procedure they would like to see me 2 hours later. I think they made an exception for me, and just had me wait 30 minutes, but with proper explanation, I would have preferred to have the proper 2 hour post op appt. Surgeon wasn’t sure how that was miscommunicated, but it def was, and so sounds like the staff needs to get on the same page about protocols.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful my experience was. I needed cataract surgery & frankly I was nervous & anxious about the diagnosis. From the moment I walked through the door, everyone I dealt with from the receptionist to the nurses to the anesthesiologist to Dr. Chapman, who performed my surgery, were extremely professional & compassionate. They made my experience pleasant & wonderful. As for the end result: two words, home run! My vision is fantastic now. All I can say is I highly recommend the Eye Institute of Utah to anyone who needs eye surgery. I promise you will receive the best care possible. A++++! 5 enthusiastic stars! By the way, it didn’t hurt at all & I was anxious for nothing. Easy procedure, I promise. Believe me when I say I was sweating it. Thank you everyone who took care of me. Ive had a procedure called super k done on both eyes. I was very nervous about this procedure but the doctor and nurses were calming and very good at easing my fears. Thanks eye institute of Utah.

Had cataract surgery on both eyes nine days apart. The entire process has gone very well. Dr. Wolsey and Dr. Bretz were both excellent. The staff at The Eye Institute were excellent as well.

I had RLE surgery at the Eye Institute of Utah. My vision is perfect!!! Dr. Passi is wonderful. Everyone there was so kind. Didnt even know such a thing existed. I called them and told them I wanted to see what my options were, and now I dont need my three pairs of glasses!!!

I had cataract surgery back in November of 2020 and opted to have the AcrySoft IQ IOL lens replacement. In other words I would not have to wear glasses any longer. The cost of this procedure was about $6000 in total. Paid up front before the surgery was performed. On one of my follow up appointments it was decided that an adjustment needed to be done on one eye which cost us another $1200 dollars roughly. According to the billing department I had a 1 year warranty on the work being done. That is deceiving because the adjustment cost me another $1200. So much for the warranty. It has been 6 months now and my eyes are very light sensitive. To sunlight, driving lights, street lights and any other lights that you directly look at. The halo’s effect is really bad especially at night. This has been very hard to get used to. If you are thinking about getting this surgery being we are older and want to have the best because our days are numbered think again. I am not sure it is not worth it. And the complications are very uncomfortable. Dry eyes, eye goobers in the morning, trouble focusing, and constant eye discomfort. It is all true. Maybe the glasses or reading glasses aren’t so bad after all. Prolong the Cataract RLE Surgery as long as you can because if you have complications it could make your life miserable. Luckily I am older now so I will not have to deal with this discomfort very long. Reading glasses would still be helpful and good quality polarized sun glasses help with driving. Yup even at night especially in the rain. I should have waited.

Dr. Bretz is a caring very competent Doctor. I would recommend her to any of my friends or family.

I only hold back one star.The medical and administrative staff are professional and definitely five or more stars.The billing is another issue. Apparently my CareCredit prepayment (loan), of $3,650 was a little over 50 o/o of the total cost, that the hidden cost was over $2,880. Insurance that I should only pay copay covered almost all, but billing found these other charges not disclosed prior to surgery.Beware of hidden costs and fees. Negative stars for billing.

My LASIK procedure went great, Ive enjoyed 3 years of clearer vision, and now Im ready for a touchup and Im told that I needed to keep track of all the eye exams over the past 3 years. If I dont have the records (which I only received in paper form), they charge me even more, just like the IRS. They say its so they can see why my vision is changing, but my vision didnt change until last year. I paid over $3k and now they want even MORE money, $500/eye. So dumb. I wish they had made this clear before I paid them 3k, I would have gone elsewhere.

I had a hard time deciding between Hoopes and The Eye Institute, but ultimately chose the eye institute and was glad I did!The eye institute was more affordable and personable which ultimately had me choose them. I still liked Hoopes, I just felt like another number there.My review would not be 5 stars if it wasnt for Dr. Wolsey. She is amazing. She educates her patients, answers questions and helps patients make their own informed decisions. I would review more of a 2 or 3 if it wasnt for her.I originally was uneasy about going here because some of the assistants seemed unknowledgeable on the machines they were testing my eyes with. I felt much more comfortable after meeting with Dr. Wolsey and her answering my million questions.Due to the anatomy of my eye, the machine could not suction onto my eye until the 7th attempt. This was unnerving, but through it all Dr. Wolsey and the staff went to extra lengths to make sure I was comfortable and okay with proceeding.After surgery the eye that had issues was very sensitive to the antibiotic drops, but the doctors were available on-call and let me know that was normal for my situation. Besides that, recovery went well.My post op I knew my eyes werent where I hoped they were but the doctor(cant remember his name) said I had 20/15 and closed the appt without addressing my concerns. The appt was very rushed and I knew I wasnt seeing as well as he claimed. Because of this, I rescheduled with Dr. Wolsey.Dr. Wolsey acknowledged I wasnt where I wanted to be with my vision and gave me all the options to fix things. We decided to re-treat my one eye that wasnt quite where it was supposed to be and in all the post ops she made sure I was 100% satisfied.She said the laser runs hot when treating astigmatism and so they slightly under treat strong astigmatism (like mine) so they dont end up over treating since they cant reverse the over treatment. I appreciate the conservative approach.Moral of the story: REQUEST DR. WOLSEY, SHE IS AWESOME!P.S. Most of the assistants are amazing as well. It was just my first visit that had me slightly nervous.

This place is fabulous! I like a dummy missed my consultation for lasix that was two days prior thinking it was on a different day, even though they had sent me a reminder text before! So when I showed up, and learned I had missed my appointment they were so sweet and accommodating! They even managed to squeeze me in THAT hour! All the staff was very nice and informative. I do believe all my regular eye care needs will be scheduled there from now on!

Had my right eye worked on (cataract) now have to wait a week and then get the left one done. Great Surgeon (Dr. Passi) and fantastic support staff!!!!

I went to the Eye Institute and had an amazing experience. I first went for a free consult and met with Dr. Passi. After talking with me through all of the options, he recommended PRK and to try mono vision. I followed his recommendation and am so happy. He could have easily told me to do both eyes and it would’ve cost twice the money. But he genuinely had my best interest in mind. I now have one eye for distance, and one eye for close up and I will not need reading glasses for many years. I’ve adjusted great to it!

3 years ago, I had cataract surgery at another well known facility. Was having trouble with one of my eyes and when I tried to make an appointment, they were less than helpful. I called the Eye Institute and could not believe the courteous and friendly response to my issue. Yesterday, when I went for my appointment, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. My procedure did not worry me and everyone from paperwork to exit couldnt be nicer, more friendly and more accommodating. Wonderful experience and the ONLY place to go for vision issues. This facility is by far the best in Utah!

The eye institute was awesome. Dr Passi did my surgery and it was quick and now just 2 days later Im seeing better than I ever have without glasses. I would definitely do it again. Everyone was kind and helpful that I interacted with.

First of all, I chose The Eye Institute of Utah because a VA nurse had told me that they do so much more when performing cataract surgery. I was very pleased with the entire operation. Every staff member was extremely professional, very friendly, and very informative about what their job was during the procedures. Dr. Chapman was marvelous the way she went about her work. I apologize for not remembering each of her staff members names. because they were all marvelous as well. It was quite the experience to have cataracts taken out and the whole crew made it easy to endure.

My annual eye checkup was great. Alesha the technician was super helpful and clear with explanations about my vision tests. Dr Zavodne was great as usual. I feel in very good hands at The Eye Institute.

Dr. Z and staff were great. It’s only day two post op but my vision is great and pain free. I was forewarned of the postoperative pain, but I think I underestimated it. It was rough for me the first four hours, but I probably do have a lower pain tolerance than most. After discussing it with Dr. Z he informed me it was normal and would feel better by the evening and then how the magic starts the next day; and he was absolutely correct. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the procedure or the results.One year update:I went in for my 1 year checkup. My vision is 20/15 and I couldnt be happier with the results.

I got Lasik done here about a month back and the process was quick and efficient while also friendly and engaged. I was nervous going in and they helped me feel right at home. Despite some side effects immediately following the procedure (which cleared up by the next day), I never felt anxious thanks to the professionalism and competence of everyone there. They were very patient and thorough in response to questions. Followups have been just as good as the first visit. Cannot recommend enough.

Having cataract surgery 3 years ago, my right eye was failing. The facility that did it refused to see me unless a balance due was paid first. All of the procedure was covered by insurance and after 3 years, I had no idea. During these hard economic times, I offered 70% but was refused. The Eye Institute was referred to me by a friend. Although my appointment was almost 2 months from the time of request, they called with an earlier appointment. My experience from paperwork to discharge was nothing short of amazing! The staff and medical professionals were so accommodating, so friendly and pleasant, that I felt I was with family instead of a facility. There is no place like this, with excellent people, warm friendly service and professional care. Any eye issues should be addressed here and nowhere else!

This was my first visit to this center and I was seeking an examination and diagnosis for apparent cataracts. Dr Woolsey was highly recommended by another ophthalmologist who practiced in another city. I was very impressed with every thing about the experience. Very cordial staff. I was examined using an assortment of devises by an assistant who was professional, informative and CoVid safe at all times. When I met Dr Woolsey, she performed a more thorough exam of my eyes and confirmed the cataract condition. She explained the procedure to change the lens snd we discussed my needs abs expectations for post surgery. I explained that I really needed to be as free from eyeglasses as possible and if anything, I could tolerate reading glasses for very close work. She recommends a multi focal lens which will perform well in a variety of distances.From there I went to the office where we went over insurance and costs for the advanced lens option.I’m scheduled for surgery next month. So far, 5 stars!!

I am very upset for the service that my husband got from the Institute. Hopefully they see this complaint and pay attention when they perform eye exams because their erroneous results caused a suspension of my husband’s driving privilege. They did not accommodate their services to my husband’s limited English. When we demanded explanations, our request was neglected and delayed. When we finally showed up in person, their only comfort was to get a second opinion, which we did. The new place performed the eye exam again, and corrected the Eye Institute’s mistake.

Went to the Eye Institute for cataract lenses. They were professional, informative, and quick. They did the right eye one day, and the left the next day. Painless procedure with excellent results. I am back to 20/20 vision and the world is no longer dim. They know what theyre doing; highly recommend.

I was diagnosed with glaucoma a few years ago and it was getting worse. A friend referred me to Dr Chapman at the Eye Institute in SLC 4 months ago. She has taken away my fear. Dr Chapman tells me exactly what is going on and has the next step ready to go if needed. My numbers have even improved slightly.

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR EYES!!One of their doctors prescribed the wrong RX for glasses which caused pain and suffering after use but the arrogant personell and the person who claimed to be a manager refused to apologize for the mistake which was all I was asking for. Ms. Wolsey is the so-called doctor and Drew is the person who claimed to be one of the managers. I called him over a month ago to get the issue resolved in a civilized manner and he promised me to follow up but nothing happened.

I had PRK monovision done with Dr. Passi. I couldnt be happier. He explained everything before the procedure and what to expect after. I love my new clear vision. You are greeted at the door by the friendliest staff as well as his staff helping with exams. The PRK procedure itself was quick and painless. Everything was explained before the procedure, during and sent me home with easy to follow after care instructions. The only regret I have is waiting so long to have PRK done. So happy I choose The Eye Institute of Utah.

I need to have surgery on my eyes I thought it was just a cataract but it was something else Dr Wolsey explained exactly what it was what the procedure was to taking it out she was very very thorough and it was very explanatory even wrote down what she was going to do in language that I could understand she was very good very thorough I recommend her to anybody

Staff was great through the whole process. Dealing with Covid and the earthquakes they were very professional. Talked you through the whole surgery so you know exactly whats going on. Would highly recommend them and Dr. Wolsey is amazing!!

Everyone was terrific straight through. I had to wait a but for my procedure, unfortunately there was an emergency in another operating room. I understood that and felt very well taken care of during the delay.

I always feel like Im receiving quality care here. Dr. Wolsey is great.

The tech and doctor were both polite, helpful, and willing to answer questions. They were honest and encouraged me to not get a procedure that I thought I might need, but which was actually unnecessary.

Dr. Chapman was knowledgeable of my medical history and listened to me and answered all my concerns. Clean, modern facility with up to date equipment and well trained staff. Masks and social distancing and temperature check were gratefully required

Had lasik surgery 21 years ago and i still don’t need glasses. Dr Carter checked my eyes and found a slight cataract that I will have him fix for me. You folks are the best.

I cant think of a way that my experience could have been improved. Cataracts removed and multifocal lenses installed in back to back days and my vision, both near and far, wass virtually perfect in both eyes just one day out. I have been in the medical arena for my entire working career which took me into medical facilities around the world and The EIU ranks among the best I have experienced.

Ambivalent. Would rate higher perhaps if I lived closer or if it was more affordable without insurance and I dont think they accept my current insurance?Also still hard to find answers to things like cost and coverage... otherwise, fine.

I had cataract surgery by Dr. Cionni at The Eye Institute of Utah. My outcome was fantastic. All of my interactions with staff, whether in the clinic or the surgery center were professional and pleasant. I would highly recommend the Eye Institute of Utah for all eye issues.

The entire staff was courteous, professional, and highly competent. I went in for a cataract removal caused by something that was lodged in my eye for a long period of time. The procedure was painless resulting is 20/20 eyesight after surgery. This was one of the best medical experiences I have ever encountered. Dr Cionni and his team are truly the BEST.
