I really have found this dental office to be very up to date on everything. The workers here are very professional and friendly. The dentist,Dr Johnson,is very knowledge and experienced. Plus he’s also friendly and easy to talk to about your concerns. He’s very good at what he does and he doesn’t mind explaining why. Which have to do with his experience and ability to stay up to date on the latest knowledge of what is being updated in the field of dentistry. Very nice and likable guy. My only concern is the cost of service is also up there with the excellent care. But worth it.

Tien (office manager), Doreen (Dental Hygenist) and Doctor Porter are amazing. This was my first visit to Avenues Dentistry in Salt Lake City. Dr. Stan Clark my previous Dentist is moving his practice and transferred me over. I was very impressed with the thoroughness of the practice and am happy that Dr. Clark left me and my wife in such good hands! Thank you!My second visit was equally excellent. I was not looking forward to having a wisdom tooth extracted. I have to say that Dr Porter and his team work well together and the procedure was quick, efficient and pain free! Thank you!

After having a less than pleasant experience with my last dentist and being in need of a new one, Dr. Porter came highly recommended. And I can see why after just one visit. Dr. Porter and his entire team are wonderful, made me feel at ease and comfortable, and really helped to explain my options and establish an easy to understand plan for my dental care.

Everyone was very nice. I liked Dr Johnson. He told me everything he was going to do. I felt nervous going in at first since I had not been to him before. But he made me feel very comfortable as did the rest of the staff. They all knew their jobs and performed them well.

Went here for an annual check up and thankfully went somewhere else and found a different better dentist and hygienist who told me my teeth were in excellent condition. they wanted to schedule two different appointments where they would numb half of my mouth to “give me a better cleaning,” gave me a bad cleaning and i had to pay more for it even with insurance, asked me three different times how I heard of them like they never got patients, dentist wore airpods during entire conversation, didn’t introduce other student dentist? even though she was in the room, recommended that i get a sleep study and buy a sleep apnea machine even though i am in my early twenties and have never had an issue with snoring or sleep issues of that nature, dentist was very rough with one of my teeth which has had a root canal and bonding to it and when i moved in chair for him to stop and tried to ask him to stop he continued hurting me and said that he had to do it, then told me that my previous dentist had done a bad job which i know is incorrect as i had 5 different amazing doctors for my teeth when i was growing up, and told me that he could redo it, yikes! incredibly unprofessional and unethical office, recommend finding actual care at literally anywhere.

I am from Canada and needed to see a dentist ASAP for the pain I was having, and this place was absolutely amazing. The customer service was the best I have experienced and the dentist took the time to talk to me and explain to me what was going on! On top of that they helped solve my problem ASAP and if I lived in Utah there is no doubt this would be my dentist!

Always do a really thorough job with the cleanings no matter how long it takes. Not as money hungry as some of the dentists in the area who try and take advantage of what your insurance covers. The staff is nice and I like that the receptionist seems to remember my name. Would definitely recommend.

They take pride in their work, Dr. Porter does a great job as do his assistants. The hygienists are also great and got my gums in tip top condition. I will say if one knock, they always play the same music, been there over a handful of times and it’s always same and could use some variety.

Nice facilities. Susan, who cleaned my teeth, was phenomenal. Friendly, informative, with an impressively delicate hand. One of the better cleaning experiences Ive had. The gentleman who did the exam, however, I found unprofessional. Seemed disinterested, stood in the room for several moments before even acknowledging me, was talking to other staff about TV while conducting the exam. Recommended multiple procedures, at least one of which I knew was cosmetic, without explaining any of them to me in any detail whatsoever. Any procedure that is recommended should be explained. Not personable and not informative.

Needed a dentist in salt lake, and found them. Everyone was very nice and welcoming! Would definitely recommend!

Everyone is friendly. But in the course of 6 weeks I had to go back for them to fix the bite on two crowns they did.... the tooth that they did a root canal on still hurts and its been about 8 months. So Im pretty sure they left root in it because now its worse than it was when I went in to get it fixed.They did lots of x-rays, but than no one came to even look at the x-rays. It cost me well over 2k just to get two teeth fixed even WITH insurance. It took me 6 months to pay off and both teeth hurt worse now than they ever did.I called and told them Im feeling pain a lady at the desk said that was normal... but after my 4th time back in the dentist said it was definitely not normal and not okay... Im extremely frustrated it took me 4 months to pay off the bill and its still not fixed...

Avenues Dentistry was recommended by neighbors on the NextDoor App. I found the dental hygienists and the dentist Dr. Porter to be very knowledgeable and skilled. They listened to my concerns and issues. The hygienist was very good and carefully cleaned my sensitive teeth. Their offices are very clean and a beautiful too. I also loved the ceiling tv to distract and the natural lighting. It was a very good visit. I like that they are taking precautions during Covid-19 and I felt very safe. 10/10 would recommend!

Great dentist. Very invested in his patients teeth, always gives good tips on better teeth care. He takes the time to check for long term issues and makes a personal phone call the day after major work is done to see how you are doing.

Finding a new dentist is not my favorite thing, so when it came time to get my daughter’s cavities filled, I just googled ‘dentist slc’ and Avenues Dentistry popped up. The website was easy to navigate, and I saw that new patient exam/cleaning was under $100, so I figured I’d give them a call and see if they could fit us in. Not only were they able to get us in quickly, but everyone we dealt with was incredibly helpful, friendly, thorough, and overall it was probably the best experience we’ve ever had at the dentist. Although I do have insurance, I didn’t think it was active yet, so I was planning on paying out of pocket, but the woman at the check-out desk said she’d run it just in case, and wouldn’t you know it, the visit was covered, I only had to pay the co-pay! Seriously these people are the best. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everyone is super nice and the office is gorgeous but GET A SECOND OPINION. I just recently moved to slc from Provo and was looking for a new dentist and found this place from my insurance provider. I went in for 6 month cleaning and was told I would need 6 crowns and with insurance would be $4000. I had just gone to my old dentist 6 months prior and crowns had never been brought up. Every now and then I would need a filling but there was never even a mention of possible crowns so I was quite in shock. Today I went back to my old dentist and had them do an X-ray and look at the SIX teeth this dentist said I needed crowns for. My dentist said that was completely unnecessary and not something he would recommend. I felt like I was being sold stuff the whole time I was there. This place also told me they would need to fit me for a mouth guard bc apparently I grind my teeth too. Beware, especially if you’re a new patient. If you really do need the work done I would still advise going somewhere else bc their prices are crazy. They do have a tv on the ceiling though so you can watch Netflix for your $4000 crowns. So there’s that.

This place is fantastic. I had to replace a crown. It was painless. Did a great job with numbing which can sometimes be difficult on me. They had great distractions like Netflix and a blanket. Best experience I have had at the dentist in years.

I broke a tooth on the first day of a extended vacation, called Avenue Dentistry from Reno, Nv to see if I could be seen there by a dentist, they were booked solid, but took my number and a short while later they returned my phone call and said they could squeeze me in, a quick trip to Salt Lake City. The staff here were awesome and so was Dr. Porter. I can’t give them enough thanks for saving my vacation. The broken tooth needEd a crown and luckily they have the ability to make a permanent crown In house, Total time there was 3 hours. Thank you, Thank you Dr Porter and staff. I was 700 miles from home, but felt I was treated like I was a local regular patient. Best dental experience in my lifetime!

Both my wife and I needed serious dental work (a crown) while on vacation. Avenues Dentistry fit us both in to an already heavy schedule (it probably helps that my sister works there!). Sadly, this dentist found problems with my teeth that my family dentist apparently missed when I saw him about three months ago, not to mention noticing that a crown previously done by my family dentist “appears to be broken and will eventually need replacing because it will continuously be catching food”. I don’t think it’s actually broken because it’s been catching food ever since he put it in!! Needless to say, I can’t afford to permanently move to Utah, but I will DEFINITELY be changing our family dentist! These folks were great and are using some of the latest technologies to make the whole going to the dentist process almost painless. I’ve never walked into a dentist’s office and left with a permanent crown the same day!

Had an issue and was worried. They got me in faster than I anticipated for both an exam and cleaning. Will be returning for my future dental needs.

I have nothing but respect for Paul Porter! I used to hate going to the dentist. Ill admit, I was the stereotype. Lol. Dr. Porter has expanded his practice. The lobby is comfortable and inviting. He does everything he can to put you at ease. The dental hygienist are caring, thoughtful and mindful. I have NEVER had a bad experience here. So nice to feel at home at the dentist. I thought Id never say that in this lifetime. 5 stars fir excellent care, reasonable prices and excepting most insurances. Bravo Paul!

The staff was very kind and informative. My wait time was minimal and service was prompt. They have incredibly modern equipment that made the entire process painless and easy. Dr. Porter was very transparent and clear about his recommendations for a solution and also very friendly. The office is brand new and the environment was warm.

I started coming here because my wife has been coming for a while now. Even though I had only ever met the receptionist before, everyone was super friendly and made me feel welcome. I had some issues getting my insurance info but the staff was very understanding and gave me a bit of extra time to get that info to them. Amazing experience!

I hadn’t been to the dentist in about a year because I switched insurance and it took a couple months to get in for a cleaning. So... I had a fair amount of buildup and my teeth are sensitive from my bleeding gums. So it wasn’t the most pleasant experience of cleanings ha. To be clear, it hurt because of my gums and buildup, I’m not mad at the person for cleaning my teeth.The woman was incredibly friendly and thorough and I appreciated her work for my teeth and gum health. She gave me a lot of great tips I hadn’t heard before and gave me a new brand of sensodyne toothpaste she uses to help with sensitivity and some mouthwash to sooth my gums after the cleaning.The dentist was also great. Showed me some teeth grinding that I’ve never heard from any dentist before, told me more tips that will help and asked if I had any questions for him. Great move. Felt very comfortable being there and the staff were all friendly.Fun perk was looking out the huge window of their new space at the huge trees. Very calming and beautiful.

This was first time visiting Avenues Family Dentistry and my experience was a good one. I was able to get a last minute appointment because part of a filling I had came out from prior dental work in another state. I thought I was just going in for an evaluation, but because of another cancellation I was able to get a full crown to fix the issue right there on the spot. I love that have the software to do the crowns in house. Dr Porter even called later in the day to check on me. All in all good professional service. I will be back.

Ive been going to Avenues Family Dentistry over the past year or so, and theyre absolutely amazing! The work Dr. Porter has done has been quick and as pain free as I couldve ever hoped for! I had a tooth pulled, a bone graft, an implant, and soon a new permanent tooth. So, Ive spent hours in those chairs! Not only is Dr. Porter nice, communicative, and an incredible dentist, the other staff are so hospitable and welcoming.If anyone is looking for a good dentist who will do their very best to make sure theyre taken care of, Dr. Porter and the rest of Avenues Family Dentistry is the place to go!!
