I absolutely loved my experience here. Melissa and Eliza are wonderful and they just feel like family. The atmosphere is very relaxed and home like and they are totally there to help you understand everything that’s happening/going to happen to your body and to the baby. You can have more or fewer appointments if you want and they are very flexible on tests and such. For instance, I didn’t want to do a glucose test but still thought it would be good to be tested in some way and was able to choose to carry around a glucometer for a little while to use to measure my blood levels.Anyway, despite not having a successful natural birth as I was in labor for like two days and was transferred to a hospital where I ended up having a C-section, I completely loved this experience! The suite is so great and your husband has access to a bed as well so he can rest. You can have the midwives with you all the time or be alone unless you want them there or they feel they need to check something. Seriously, greatest experience!

Melissa was my midwife for the first part of my pregnancy (unfortunately I moved out of state before the birth itself). She’s so great. She really listened to my first birth experience and filled me with confidence in my ability and my body’s ability to have an out-of-hospital birth. I ended up having a wonderful home birth and she was a great part of my journey.

For my husband and I’s first baby, we had decided to pursue a home birth. We stumbled upon birth journey through Google, and we’re so thankful we did. Melissa and both Hope & Ashleigh made us feel comfortable, safe, informed, and so much more throughout our time in their care. They really have gone above and beyond and have made our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience better than we could’ve imagined. We are so grateful for these women beyond words!

Our experience at birth journey was extraordinary. Melissa and the other midwives were kind and professional through a long and difficult labor and delivery. The birth suite is really comfortable, and we felt supported through the whole process. The staff worked incredibly hard to make sure that we felt safe and taken care of.

I would give 10 stars if I could. Hiring these phenomenal midwives has proved to be the best decision my husband and I made for this pregnancy. These women are incredibly experienced, kind, understanding, passionate, and open. When my husband and I were in the process of choosing a midwife, Melissa met us on a Saturday afternoon (to accommodate our schedules) and talked with us for over an hour and a half as a preconception appointment. She answered all our questions, had toys for our busy toddler, and just made us feel at home. Our prenatal appointments are so valuable to me! The atmosphere in the birth center feels like family, you walk in and they know you by name, you are loved and respected. Nothing is ever rushed, they take the time to really talk with you and see how you are doing (physically, emotionally, mentally) and are there for any questions. I simply cannot say enough good about these women and am so grateful to be in their care in this special time in our lives. They focus on evidence based care on EVERYTHING, remind me how strong and wise my mother’s intuition is and to listen to it, educate me on how to ensure I have a healthy pregnancy and birth, and are there to comfort and validate any worries that come up.

Melissa and her team are simply amazing! They personalize your care according to your needs and level of comfort. They offer first class service that is very compassionate and professional. They took really good care of my sister when she had her babies at their birth center. The birth suite feels more like home/hotel with a jacuzzi tub for water births. One of my favorite things about this place is, they always have snacks just in case the mamas get hungry or the little ones that tag along with their parents. The staff is very friendly and they take care of their clients like family. I cant say enough good things about this place. Thank you Birth Journey for such wonderful care and service.

Love, love, love birth journey midwifery. I knew a hospital birth wasnt for me, and Im so glad I found birth journey. My care through the whole pregnancy was so comfortable and catered around me, but also included my husband. I ended up 3 weeks overdue, and was in labor for 2 days, and Melissa and Connie were absolutely incredible. They did absolutely everything to help me through it, and I was able to succeed in birthing a 10 pound huge baby, no tearing, completely natural, and having a beautiful experience. I recommend them without a doubt.

Seriously AMAZING midwives training with Melissa and Melissa is amazing too! So attentive and helpful throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I am SO grateful that I found Birth Journey. Best birthing experience anyone could ever ask for! As a first time mom I was very nervous to have a natural home birth, but Im so glad I did and that I chose Birth Journey Midwifery. Not only was Melissa a fantastic midwife, but the rest of her staff were amazing as well, all very friendly and welcoming. Throughout my entire pregnancy Melissa answered every possible question I could think of and replied in a very timely manner as well. She helped me to feel empowered and in control. She was very knowledgeable but also respectful of my decisions. She constantly went above and beyond to provide me with the best service possible and continued to do so even after my baby was born. I had a rough postpartum experience and she did all she could to look up resources for me even though she didnt have to. I love Melissa and I love her team. Definitely will return for future pregnancies!

Honestly I could not say enough about how amazing this whole office is. From the front desk girl to every one of the midwives and nurses they are all so amazing! Melissa is so dedicated to making sure you get exactly what you are wanting out of your birth experience. They are all so accommodating and understanding! I would strongly suggest having your baby here!

I had such an amazing experience with Melissa that I would feel ungrateful if I didn’t share and post a review. I had a unique situation and switched my birth plan the week before I delivered and decided to deliver at home. Melissa was so accommodating and provided me with my dream delivery in my home for my second baby. My first was born in a hospital and I knew I wanted a different experience but was hesitant about delivering at home. Melissa made us feel safe and confident that we were in good hands. Throughout my labor, she provided the perfect comfort measures and environment. My husband, who was the skeptical one, was completely calm through the whole thing because of how experienced and prepared Melissa was. I could not recommend her enough. If you’re on the fence about having Melissa as your midwife, just trust me when I say that you won’t regret putting your trust in her and the team and Birth Journey Midwifery.

I loved everything about my experience there! Melissa was so great at educating me as wellas exploring ideas with me to help create the perfect birth experience! The staff is fantastic! The birth suite is heavenly! They have everything you need and more! I cant think of anything I didnt like about Birth Journey!

Best midwife ever!! Ive had three births with her, theyve always been wonderful. She had the best advice and resources all through my pregnancies. She is a great support medically AND emotionally. Very highly recommended!!Also, her billing people are amazing, and we were able to get my insurance to pay for everything. Yay!!

I have had such a positive experience so far - I transferred from another midwife who randomly retired halfway through my pregnancy and I couldn’t be happier that I did. I think it was meant to be. Melissa is AMAZING! I love her. My husband and I had a wonderful experience having her as our care provider. She is a wealth of knowledge and makes you feel as if youre her only mother shes caring for. She is personable and remembers little details. We loved being in her care. Her space is lovely. The birthing suite is beautiful. Theres a huge tub, walk in shower, kitchen, and lots of tools for mom to labor with. The best part is theres room in the bed for mom, baby AND dad to all snuggle up together afterward. Melissa thank you for being so great, and helping moms to bring their babies into the world in such a calm and safe atmosphere.

Melissa and her team are pretty much the best available when it comes to midwifery care and home (or birth suite) birth services in the Salt Lake valley. They are calm, competent and supportive. They dont ever rush through appointments and are never too busy to listen. Melissa herself is sweet and generous. Several times she made home visits just because it was more convenient for me. Her care was comprehensive, including newborn screenings. I wanted Vitamin K drops rather than a vitamin K shot and she bought it for us. She has a library of materials she loans to clients. She offers free birth and breastfeeding classes as part of her services. My husband and I would trust Melissa to birth with us again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone who asks.

Melissa provided immense support, reassurance, and wisdom throughout our pregnancy and labor, answering texts at all hours and making my partner and I feel validated and heard. Melissa is absolutely darling! Her team is very kind, capable, and supportive. I had the honor and privilege of being the first to deliver in The Birth Journeys new birthing suit. My experience was outstanding. Melissa has such a great approach to labor. Shes as involved, or as hands off as you need her to be. Shes very level headed during labor. Loved the suit! The walk in shower saved my life. The extensive knowledge and genuine care I received from Melissa and her team made me feel so at home and I genuinely hope to have Melissa deliver all my babies! I came to the birth journey after being treated poorly at a different midwifery; at 38 weeks pregnant you can imagine I was a mess! Melissa did a wonderful job of meeting all of my needs, answering all of my questions (no matter what time of night I texted her), and creating an atmosphere conducive with my spiritual beliefs and birthing preferences. I could go on all day about this woman and my experience but Ill sum up with this: A midwife is like a spirit, soul, and body shaman. They guide you through one of the most beautiful, yet terrifying things a human can experience. You should walk away from their care feeling stronger. And after they hold your hand and fight beside you, they should become like family. I can honestly say, Melissa was all of those things for me.

I had my third baby at home using the midwifery services from Birth Journey. Although the care I received during pregnancy and delivery was phenomenal I have to say what sets them apart is the care I received during the first few weeks after my baby was born. They were so helpful and always there to answer my questions. You wont regret checking them out.

Words cannot even begin to describe my love and appreciation for Melissa and her team. Weve had 3 babies at home with Melissa and have ZERO complaints. She is knowledgable, helpful, kind, supportive, nonjudgemental, and everything you could ever want or need from a midwife. She helped me through not just 3 births, but through an emotional block/fear that was making my labors much longer and more intense than they needed to be and I am deeply grateful to her for that. Melissa Mayo is an angel on earth! After UNintentionally delivering my second child at home, around 9:00 pm, on a Christmas Eve (yes, you read that right!) Melissa came to our home out of the pure goodness of her heart and provided all of the necessary post labor and newborn care; at the time I had never once met her prior. With her expertise, bedside manner, and abundance of knowledge she instantly transformed what could have been a chaotic situation into one that was calm and truthfully one of my most cherished memories. There was absolutely no question who I wanted on my care team when I was pregnant with my third child in 2018 and I was able to be under her care for the entire duration of my pregnancy and for several weeks afterwards (not just for “show time”!). She is the most kind, educated, sincere woman I’ve had the privilege of being around and I always felt listened to and that my baby and I were the recipients of the highest quality of care. Our second home birth was also wonderful, allowing my husband and children to participate their individual roles and I have the best memories of my prenatal appointments with Melissa and her amazing staff. I cannot speak more highly of Melissa and Birth Journey and I full heartedly recommend her and he services.

Melissa become our care provider at 7 months gestation and she was just who we needed. We had an amazing experience at the birth and she made sure to check on how I was doing emotionally and mentally, and physically. She has a birth suite and we had the option of doing it at home. We loved her as our midwife!

We chose to do a home birth for our second baby. It was the most wonderful experience and Im so glad that we did it! Care with a Melissa as your midwife is very different than care at hospital. Even though the standard of care is similar (testing, labs, blood pressure, monitoring, ultrasounds etc) the heart of the care is different. Melissa gave me all the time I needed at appointments to address all of my questions. She took the time to get to know me and my family. A home birth probably isnt as most people imagine it. I was able to labor at home and have a peaceful (yet quick) birthing experience. Melissa even came to my house for a couple of my prenatal appointments dropping off plenty of supplies and giving instruction for preparation for the birth. When she arrived for the birth, she had all of the necessary medical equipment for a birth including oxygen, portable ultrasound machine, doppler, pitocin, suture kit and more. Even though a birth can be messy, we were prepared and Melissa did all of the cleanup (thanks Melissa!). And the best part is, I got to shower very soon after the birth and just relax in my own bed with my sweet new baby! It was so relaxing. My pregnancy was low risk and my birth went without complication (thanks to great prenatal care, no unnecessary interventions and an awesome midwife). I definitely want my future births to take place at home with Melissa as our midwife.

I LOVE Melissa! She is so sweet, personable, and made our birth experience absolutely amazing.Shes extremely knowledgeable and has great experience under her belt. Her team is equally kind and professional.This was our third home birth but first time with Melissa and I wouldnt change a thing. She was always available when I needed her, always willing to help, willing share from her library, she was flexible, and was open to anything I wished to have (or to not have) for our pregnancy and birth experience. Our little one is almost two months now and she still checks in and is willing to help with anything, even just answering questions.I suffered with Hyperemesis gravidarum for about 21 weeks of the pregnancy and Melissa was an amazing support. Like I said shes extremely knowledgeable and if she cant fix it she knows someone who can help.I recommend her in a heartbeat! Even if your only mildly considering a home birth, go see her, talk to her - shes amazing!

Melissa, Katia, Tiffany, Ashleigh and Nicole were an awesome team to have during my pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I was able to see both Melissa and Katia during my pregnancy and loved getting to know their personalities and breadth of knowledge during my prenatal appointments. As my partner put it theyre ...not only knowledgeable, but also kind. I never felt rushed or that I had too many questions about what if...? I felt confident in them and myself after every prenatal visit.During labor Melissa helped me keep it together by holding space that no one else on my birth team could do (I didnt have a doula). My labor was normal, but everyone was more calm when the midwife arrived, me so because I didnt have to keep explaining to the others this is how labor looks (despite all the prep wed done) while also working through the contractions! The postpartum care was awesome too.I am so grateful for all the care my baby and I received from the Birth Journey team. I couldnt have asked for a better experience.

Birth Journey Midwifery provided me with the very best pregnancy and birth experience Ive ever had. We transferred there half way through my third pregnancy from a regular OB/GYN office after deciding that we wanted to have a natural home birth this time. From the moment we walked into their office and met Katia, I knew that we had found who and what we were looking for! We had found a knowledgeable, caring midwife who would safely and competently watch over my pregnancy and birth. I loved the atmosphere of their office. I loved that I could text Katia a question on a Sunday morning and receive an answer back. I loved that I could have my prenatal appointments at home! I loved the truly holistic approach that was taken. I felt like Katia cared about me as a whole person, as well as about my entire family. She involved my older kids during the prenatal visits, and was supportive of them attending the birth. The sanctity of childbirth, motherhood, and family was honored throughout our time with Birth Journey. There is not an experience Ive had in my life that has been more special than welcoming our newest family member to the world in the comfort of my own home, surrounded by my husband and kids. Having Katia and Melissa there to make sure everything went as expected is what made it possible! Now I only wish that I had known that homebirth under midwifery care was an option when Id had my other babies. I would highly recommend Birth Journey Midwifery to anyone!
