I had a relative in this facility who was verbally abused by staff, ignored, and became much worse after her stay here. Do not let a loved one go to this facility if you care about them.

“With the help of God, my friends, and these wonderful people at Anchorage Healthcare Center, I can talk, walk, and socialize, which I could not do upon my arrival. The staff is so compassionate and deserve the best thanks. I would and will give the highest recommendation. They are great. The staff has given me a new life and a new way to appreciate the one I have. Thanks guys!”– With love and respect, Kevin McNamara

We had a patient that needed more then we could provide. Peninsula Home Care recognized that subacute would benefit her recovery. The team at Anchorage worked diligently with her insurance to get her admitted. She has improved from the supports provided at Anchorage. This is an example of two organizations working together for the good of a patient.

First of all, I don’t want to go home since I’m doing so well. All the individuals that have worked with me are outstanding. They aren’t pushy, but I always want to do more for them. All the equipment works nice, and I really enjoy the Wii. I know I’m not going to get the individual treatment at home that I get here. I wish you had an outpatient therapy center, but for now I’ll just come back to visit. You all really care about your patients. Most people go to work to work, but you all come because you care.

My dad has received excellent care since he got there. He is happy and content being there. Rehab, nurses, aides, business office and the social work department have gone above and beyond to provide him with great care. Everything has been great.

My mother is presently at Anchorage Healthcare Center and absolutely LOVES it there. The Physical Therapy, the Occupational Therapy, the food, the nurses, the CNAs, and especially her TEAM are all the BEST! She is so grateful that she finally found a place here in Salisbury that she can feel comfortable and SAFE! THANK YOU Anchorage for having a facility that makes her happy and takes away my worry!

I have worked at this facility since September of 2017, and have thoroughly enjoyed being part of a team that is dedicated to improving the quality of care provided to our residents, staff relations and overall satisfaction of the facility. I am proud of the accomplishments made within the time Ive worked there, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for us. The interdisciplinary departments strive to work together as a team to maximize resident care and independence. When there are improvements to be made, we aim to address them quickly, effectively, and respectfully. I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve the residents who choose us, and look forward to going to work everyday.

Therapy was very essential to my success and going home to live life normally again. Therapists were most helpful and accommodating. They were very professional, and did everything they could to advance my healing and balance.

The rehab program is excellent. Personnel provide great service whenever possible; however, short staff greatly reduces service. Example, not good when patient waits more than an hour for bathroom assistance. After 2+ weeks at facility patient has never had hair washed and hair smells. Also... Pictures on WEB are of another facility. The Salisbury facility is very old, small patient spaces, and not safe. Closet door has been removed to make room for a bureau. 1 toliet and sink for 4 patients. 2 elevators exist but 1 of the 2 is so small that 2 wheel chairs is the limit. It appears Anchorage is well overdue for an upgrade.

My husband has been here for several days now. The facility itself is a little run down; the elevators barely work and I was told that the stairs are for staff only (which I dont believe is legal for a public facility). They are very short staffed; he has waited over an hour to be assisted with bathroom needs and this is not acceptable, although I know they are trying their best. 99% of the staff has been extremely nice, except for his overnight nurse on duty tonight. My husband was excited to watch the Super Bowl with me and I was planning on staying until it was over. (I had been told by several people that I was allowed to visit whenever I wanted as long as I was quiet.) We were both very tired and fell asleep; around 9:15 we were awoken by the nurse. She did not say hello or introduce herself; she rudely told us that visiting hours were over at 8 pm. I explained to her that I was told I could visit whenever I wanted as long as I was not being disruptive. In a disgusted voice she said, You were *sleeping.* The way she said it you would think I was doing something heinous. She went on to say that she doesnt know me and she cannot be bothered to check to see whether or not I am still breathing all night long. (What does that even mean?? I am a grown woman who can take care of myself. Nobody is responsible for me.) I even told her that my husband really wanted me to stay as I provide comfort for him. She did not care about any of this and kept getting closer and closer to me, I guess to try to intimidate me. She did not give me time to call for a ride, so I was stuck walking home at 9:30 pm through a not so great neighborhood. On my way home I tried to call my husband, but she answered the phone and hung up on me. Now I am going to worry about my husbands well being in her care all night long. (We both agreed that we did not want her to be his nurse any more, but she claimed that there was nobody else and he was stuck with her.) I am planning on speaking with the Director first thing in the morning about her behavior. Cold-hearted people like that should NOT be in nursing!

Overall, the therapists, aides & nurses were very good, but the building is older and could use updates. Have your clothes washed yourself if you can.

People are wonderful. If you do what they tell you in therapy, you get through it. If I could, I would stay longer!
