Suntars Kennels also does grooming. We use them to trim one of the dogs claws as he doesnt need grooming and they do a great job of taking care of this very strong dog that hates having his claws trimmed.Our Cockier Spaniel seems to view his grooming appointments as a spa day. He is always happy to go and I must say looks quite debonair after his grooming appointments.Weve not had occasion to use their boarding but I looked and it appears very clean and that the animals are well cared for. There is a play area for them to get exercise. I wouldnt hesitate to board our dogs here. And the grooming service is excellent. Highly recommended.

First time we used them to board our cat. The facility is clean and well laid out foe the cats. Freya was well taken care of and we will use them again.

I drive from Gorham to Saco for Suntars because I havent found a better kennel anywhere in the area. The folks here are wonderfully friendly and accommodating. My dog always gets super excited to go, and then comes home happy and tired. I would recommend them to anyone!

The staff are very kind and friendly. The facility is incredibly clean and organized. Their prices are affordable. My dog really enjoys going here once a week, and I can tell she is treated well by how the staff interacts with her. She zonks out and snores after she comes home and has dinner after a day of play at Suntar. Thank you for taking good care of my crazy snow bunny Gracie. :)

The dogs seem to enjoy their stay and the proprietors seem like genuine dog people (they have cats too, but I would not know, being a dog person). They are definitely our go-to kennel!

Take our dogs here for grooming. They always do a great job and our dogs are never stressed when they come home. Appointment times are always prompt as well and your dog doesn’t sit in a kennel waiting half a day. Very pleased with Suntar’s!

Our cat loved it here. I had to call and extend her stay twice due to complications with our move into a new house and they were extremely flexible. Nice people.

VERY nice people and an extremely clean facility. I had to board my pup last minute and they had room, gave me a tour and everything looked great. Pup came home excited and tired! Lots of free play time with the other dogs.

Have not gotten to use their service as they don’t answer phone calls and do not respond to emails (even though it says they prefer contact by email on their website) if they can’t return your email asking about scheduling services then they probably can’t be trusted with your pets. 👍

I have been taking my dogs to Suntar for 10 years now and they are WONDERFUL. The owners are very conscientious and treat my dog(s) like their own. My dog cant wait to go to join the other dogs when I drop her off for either day care, boarding or grooming. I travel frequently and this is the best kennel I have ever used.

At the recommendation of a good friend, I started taking my dog to Suntars about 3 years ago. There is never a smell in the receiption area or in the dog kennel area, which they gladly share with me. They provide a sort-of hammock off of the cement floor for his bed and each kennel has direct access to a fenced-in area - small dogs with small dogs.

Boarded my dog here for 10 days, as she doesnt like other dogs and this is the only option in the area for her to be separate from other dogs. Unfortunately when I picked her up, I found that she had not been given all of her food (one can I sent wasnt open, so I know it wasnt even offered), and pills of which she gets a 1/2 tablet had been quartered, leading me to believe she did not get the proper dose. Very disappointed with this visit and will not be returning.

My dog has stayed here twice and totaled 5 nights. We have been very happy and so has ahem the staff is friendly and professional and great with dogs.

This kennel has been absolutely amazing for my dog and I. They are one of the only kennels that can single board a dog who is fearful of other dogs and they treat the dogs like their own so much that they work with the dogs on socialization. They are very knowledgeable and have gone above and beyond for my new rescue and I. I am really grateful for the staff at Suntars.As for the one star review about the owners not being genuine, the “odd Russian” woman as you described her, invited me to go on hikes with her and her own foster on her own time, to help me socialize my dog who has really been struggling with other dogs. The young staff member was a little rude with me when I brought my dog in a few minutes before closing, but she also gave me her personal phone number to let me know when her dog was going to be there because they thought he might be a good playmate for my selective dog.Maybe they aren’t the most bubbley with the owners, but they have been extremely honest with me about my dogs behaviors and I don’t for a second doubt their love and experience with animals. Honestly, the daycares that are the most bubbley with the owners are often the most inexperienced with animals and unable to take training, behavior and safety seriously. I used to go to a daycare that was like that and they constantly had fights break out because they let the dogs do whatever they wanted and treated them like babies out of fear of upsetting the owners with a serious demeanor. I actually witnessed that daycare scold an employee for separating two dogs because they thought the owners wouldn’t like to see their dog being pulled by the collar and separated. I’d personally rather have my dog removed from a potentially unsafe situation.

I called to get a price on watching our dog for the day and they gave me a quote. I take the dog there and they denied us because we didnt set up an appointment. What do you think I was calling for? And since when do you need an appointment for day sitting. I ended up taking her to Keoke Kennels instead and got her right in and ended up saving money.
