We came to Dr. Levine for a second opinion, even though he was 70 miles from our home (total disc arthroplasty, C3/4, including discectomy with end plate preparation). For the second opinion, my wife a M.D. tapped her network of trusted friends in the D.C. area. The symptoms were acute and implied potentially both disc compression and carpal tunnel in my right / dominant arm, preventing me working. Dr. Levine conducted a thorough hands on clinical examination, as well as assessed the Neurology and MRI inputs. He took care in explaining the condition, procedure and likely outcomes.Im writing this review 18 months post surgery. Immediately no more pain or tingling discomfort, plus he negated what felt like carpal tunnel. I use and abuse my neck like a young man (Im 54). I moved house last year, multi-week heavy and awkward lifting. I sleep anyway I like, on my stomach (though probably shouldnt!).With this outcome, over the time passed, I highly recommend Dr. Levine and cant thank him enough.

Dr. Levine performed Deep Brain Stimulation on me in December of 2018. He was amazing. He walked me through the pros and cons and helped me understand how it works, what would occur during the surgeries, and what to expect afterwards. The surgery went even better than expected. I really couldnt have had a better experience. He is also involved after the surgery to help people out and track what happens over time (most surgeons dont seek that feedback, which is shocking when I think about it). Lastly, he is hilarious. Our banter helped calm me down for what was a potentially scary situation.

Saw Dr. Levine for a 2nd opinion as he has operated on 5 family members. Did not find him personable or caring at all. He did not agree with my ortho who suggested a spinal fusion. Said he would consult with my him who he knows well to ask him why he thought I needed the surgery. At my suggestion, he sent me for a 2nd MRI and a nerve test. He never called my ortho or me for my results. My 2nd MRI showed I now needed 2 fusions which my original ortho will do and who i love. David Levin was right from the get go not to mention his caring warm personality makes a difficult situation much more bearable.

Dr Levine did DBS surgery on my father in July 2019 and my dad had major complications the same day and night of surgery and Dr Levine hardly attended to see that my dad was losing his memory and also ended up in the ICU for seizures. Dr Levine was called at 3 am that night of surgery when the nurse called him to tell him that my dad is losing his memory and something is not right. He told the nurse that he is fine and will see him the next morning. The next morning my dad ended up having seizures and admitted to the ICU and that’s when dr Levine realized something was not right and then decided to put him on oxygen and meds and even then he came by for like 5 minutes. His PAs attend to everything which should be him in this situation especially. Dr Levine has no time to talk his patients in the hospital during his rounds so he sends his PA named Sheila to do his checks and follow ups and he himself spends like 5 minutes and that’s his check. His partner who is an Asian guy cane by to see my dad and said this is all normal. I mean he also doesn’t know what he is talking about at all. Nothing was normal about my dad losing his memory and not being able to walk. This is like a rare statistic that happened to my father. Dr a Levine for formality says he cares just to look good to your face but really doesn’t care from what I have seen and observed about him. He didn’t care about my father and today my dad can’t walk and is wheelchair bound and mind you my dad walked into that surgery and came out with memory loss and unable to walk for the rest of his life and major tremors which Dr Levine kept saying will go away and didn’t. Dr Levine has no answers and brushed us off and washed his hands clean of the case. Told us to get a second option and let us know if we need his help. He kept saying your dad will get better, I promise etc. None of it was true. Just words out of his mouth and never personally follows up. To him we are just another patient another case another $$$$. What happens after that he doesn’t care. I ask - what if a surgeon ruined Dr Levine life and he could not walk anymore - how would he feel?

Worst doctor I have ever meet in my life. There are better neurosurgeons out there. Try mdmercy. This doctor is extremely rude and gets angry very easily. I will never come to his office again. I had to worst experience with his front desk and meeting him as a person. He has zero peoples skills.

In 2008 I consulted Dr Levine having spinal stenosis. Dr. Levine operated on me for Spinal Stenosis with Lumbar fusion on my back. Dr. Levine gave me my life back. He is an amazing doctor. When I went for my Post Op X-rays the technician asked who did my surgery because it was TEXT BOOK work...Perfect!!! She showed me the screw in my back and they were perfectly done. She said most of the back surgeries that she sees shows screws in all different directions, etc. She said no wonder people have pain even after surgery because of the terrible job other doctors perform. Dr. Levine work is PERFECT!!!!! I recommend him 100%. I would go back to him in a heart beat. I would never go to anyone else.. If it can be fixed he will do an amazing job. If he refuses to do your surgery its for a good reason, I would take his advise any day. He is brilliant...no question!!

This man is a monster. he has no feelings or emotion. he told my parents I wouldnt live to see the summer. he refused to operate and told me to go home and die. my father got me into NIH where DOCTOR HOWARD FINE operated and saved my life. Look him up, he is the best. Mr Levine however is a cold, callous surgeon who actually makes a lot of mistakes in the OR. He could not have been more cold and heartless in the way he broke the news of my brain tumour to me my fiance and my parents. STAY AWAY!

It was like a miracle!!! One year ago today, Dr.Levine performed laparoscopic surgery on my lower back, removing 2 large fragments that were pressing on my sciatic nerve, along with a discectomy. The excruciating pain was GONE later that day!!! I was normally a very active person and over the 3 month’s prior to my surgery, I had progressed terribly, unable to stand or walk for more than 5 minutes at a time. I experienced numbness and terrible pain, had been visiting my chiropractor, getting acupuncture, consulting pain management specialists, while continuing to get worse. I am SO GLAD that I went to Dr. Levine!!! I am now back to my extremely active self, and feel GREAT!!! I can not recommend him highly enough!!! THANK YOU Dr. Levine

Dr Levine successfully removed a tumor from my cervical spine in December 2016. The 5 hour procedure involved over 60 percent of my cervical spine(neck). Today he reviewed the MRI of my neck and indicated I was cured. While I am still taking some occupational therapy, I can walk well now and able to do my yardwork and other repair tasks around the house. Thank you Dr. Levine for your excellent neurosurgical expertise..
