I reached out very late on a Sunday evening after my 12 year old German Shepherd had been in distress for a few hours. We had been refused at BLUE PEARL Animal Hospital which is about 3 miles from my house. Metropolitan was very kind and accommodating and upon arrival immediately attended to my beautiful dog. Upon examination my beautiful dog was deemed terminal and we had to make a quick decision to put her down. The doctor was kind, frank and explained all options. It was a brutal decision but everyone at the hospital could not have been more humane and kind to us and my beloved pet. Today I received a beautiful card signed by everyone at the hospital with just heartfelt genuine sentiments. Thank you Metropolitan for making a traumatic situation smoother. I highly recommend this hospital for your furry best friend and family member.

My Labrador retriever ate a bag of chocolate Halloween candy and was very sick. Our regular veterinarian (for 30 years) was too busy to see her, so we called around and were refused by two other vets. We found Meteopolitan online and called. They were so kind and sympathetic amd gave good info over the phone. When we decided to take our dog into the facility, they were extremely helpful. Everyone from the person behind the reception desk who explained all about the process and pricing, to Cassie the veteran animal whisperer whose guidance was invaluable, to Dr. Noelle Hunter whose expertise helped see us all through the crisis and immediately, admitted her to the hospital, ran diagnostics, and determined that she also had a serious underlying health issue that needed immediate attention in addition to her stomach distress from candy. We were able to take our beloved dog home after 24 hours of treatment. We left with thorough instructions and referrals for specialists should we need one in the future. I highly recommend Metropolitan!!! Couldn’t be happier with the care our dog received.

I called 13 animal hospitals for an emergency with my dog, Beau. They all rushed me off of the phone and said they had no availability. When I called Metropolitan, the receptionist seemed genuinely concerned about my puppy and encouraged me to bring him in. She informed me of the longer than usual wait times but assured me that he would be seen as soon as possible. The entire staff was accommodating, understanding, and went above and beyond to make me and my puppy comfortable in the midst of our crisis. The vet was thorough with her assessment and treatment. The facility is also modern and clean. I am very grateful to have been seen by them!

The staff here was incredibly kind and compassionate when we brought our dog in on a Sunday for an emergency. Ultimately he had to be put down, and the vet and vet techs were patient and caring as they explained the process and gave us time to grieve. They even sent us a sympathy card, which was greatly appreciated. As others have said, yes, this location is pricey. However, we knew that bringing our dog on a Sunday to an ER vet would be more expensive.Overall, I am grateful that we brought our dog here and that we were able to say goodbye. Thank you to all the staff who helped us on such a difficult night making such a difficult decision.

Charlie at the front desk and the whole team took excellent care of us in an emergency situation tonight. Your jobs must be impossibly hard, helping people and animals at times of greatest stress, and Charlie and Dr. Schreiner still helped us with care and efficiency. We hope to never need emergency services, but I’m very glad to know that you all are there when we do. Thanks to the team.

Excellent service. We brought our golden doodle pup for a persistent limping and none of the vets around had an opening. We were seen immediately and the vet began with a conservative regime and instructed us to return in a week if our pup continues to limp. The vet was professional, brief, straightforward, and pleasant. The COVID safety plans include cleaning the exam rooms between visitors.

Do not bring your dog here unless you have no other option. That was my situation because my dog had signs of kennel cough, but because we were headed out of town we wanted to make sure she had meds (and everyone was booked because it is Saturday). All the signs of kennel cough, barely coughing, no abnormal sounds in listening to breathing, and eating normally - quoted $1200 for “diagnostics”! Then was asked what my range to spend was… rather than just being realistic and offering options initially - the sale is more important than the animal here, clearly.

This location is excellent: They were excellent at not listening to me when I told them my cat appeared acutely and concerningly sick and sat me in the waiting room for 20 minutes before being seen.Once they evaluated him and came to the conclusion that he was concerningly sick themselves, they were excellent at asking for thousands of dollars of tests to find out what was wrong with him, and when I said I couldnt afford that, they were excellent at generating a bill for the euthanasia of my cat. When I asked how he could have gotten sick so quickly, the only theory I was given was a shoulder shrug and sometimes these things happen. The admin was excellent at making sure my credit card was swiped before anything happened and had a nervous tic of laughing when she was uncomfortable. I was strangely laughed at as I decided if I should try to save the life of my cat, cope with the decision that I was going to have to euthanize my best furry friend, and again when I had to decide what to do with his body after he was put to sleep. The doctor was excellent at slamming the euthanasia drugs, quickly listening for a heartbeat, telling me hes gone, and swiftly walking out of the room. At no point was there any compassion or understanding from any of the staff here. So yes, they are excellent at doing exactly what you pay them to do and nothing else. I guess caring is an upcharge at this place.

Dr. Joshua Woolsey attended to my foster dogs lacerated paw pad. Because he has a sensitive stomach Dr said he was giving me probiotics. They were out if stock - no probiotics. Told me that the $800 fee for a few stitches, light anesthesia & 2 week antibiotic Rx did NOT include a protective bootie for the dogs injured foot/paw. Really? Advised me to go to PetSmart nearby to buy booties there. I purchased the only brand they had for my dogs breed in stock. Thought everything would be ok. Nope. Read on.We were instructed by Dr. Woolsey and staff to remove the gauze bandaging after 24 hours and for the dog to wear the plastic- nylon-velcro bootie? Nothing else? Didnt make sense to me and now that the wound has re-opened in LESS THAN 48 hours I have very little confidence in this emergency animal hospital.I really knew this place did NOT care about my pet when the tech (young thin white woman with brown hair) brought my dog out to the parking lot and just stood there. She refused to place him in my car. I had the rear door open and ready for her. Yet she refused. I observed for over 1 hour every other pet being placed into their human companions vehicle. No one else had to leave their vehicle to retrieve their pet and place into their car. No one except me.This uncompassionate and rude vet assistant even refused to help me lift up my 72 pound foster dog with injured paw into my car. She stood in the parking lot, 2 spaces away, and simply watched me struggling in my solo attempt to gently get him into the back seat.DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Id give 0 stars if I could.

I just want to start of by saying please listen to these reviews don’t make the same mistake I did by ignoring them because I was told by my vet to go. They took almost 3 hours to see my pet but they took her the minute I got there meaning she was probably just sitting in her carrier for hours. Then when they saw her the doctor would get an attitude if I asked questions. Also just the exam is $125, moral of the story is don’t go here just go somewhere else

Unfortunately my experience with MEAC last weekend dovetails with others below - unclear and inconsistent policies and very high billings for my dogs care. (The good news is that he did survive but no ultrasound so its unclear what precipitated the crisis.)When I tried to get to the bottom of the discrepancies - such as were they billing for hospitalized care at one set price or for a series of services (which appear to be $1,000 or more than the price range quoted initially) - it was being yelled at then hung up on by the same person cited in earlier reviews. The only option apparently is to go to the corporate parent.

Late one Sunday night, our two Portuguese Water Dogs ate half a bag of milk chocolate chips. I called Metropolitan Animal Emergency and Specialty Center. A calm, helpful person answered after one ring. She listened patiently, did some calculations to see how dangerous this ingestion might be and recommended a simple household ingredient that could make the smaller pup vomit, thereby reducing her risk of toxicity. She offered another step after that, suggested a vet hospital that was even closer to our home and said that we could also head to Metropolitan if needed. In short, she was terrific and a huge help. Thankfully, our pups are fine. I cant thank her and Metropolitan enough and would use them again in a heart beat.

I would highly recommend Metropolitan Animal to all of my family and friends. We had to put our sweet, loving, beautiful Rylee down and everyone in the clinic was very professional and sympathetic. Dr Choset was very calm and assured we were making the right decision. When I got home today, there was a card in the mail from the staff at this facility and saying how sorry they were for our loss and they are thinking of us. The fact that there was a handwritten message from every employee in that card, says a lot about this facility. I would bypass every other emergency vet from my home (eastern shore, md) just to get to this place if I ever needed them again. After Rylee was put down, I cried and cried knowing I left her there on that blanket and she wasn’t coming home with me but I know that the staff here took care of my girl as she gained her wings. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!! 💕🐾

My puppy had what appeared to be a seizure at around 3am in the morning. This was a traumatizing situation for me being a first-time pet owner and considering that I, too, was unwell and had medical work recently. My financial situation was tight as I hadnt been paid the previous month as my company was making some payroll adjustments. I get paid pretty well in my career and I do a lot of consulting work on the side through my own business. I headed over to this emergency clinic because I needed to make sure my puppy was alright. Upon arrival they ran several tests, but I was not provided with much information regarding the results. They said she seemed decent, however, wanted to have her stay 12-24 hours for monitoring. I wanted to take this option, but they quoted me nearly $2000. I was afraid to bring home my puppy under the circumstances that I would not be able to endure if something were to happen to her. I live alone and she means the world to me. I have very supportive family and friends who would help me out with the expense as I never ask for favors and am usually the one they come to. However, it was in the middle of night and I couldnt get a hold of anyone. Around 7am, I was aggressively approached by the practice manager, Samantha Hsu, who provided the rudest, least cultural competent interaction that I have ever experienced. Looking at my disheveled appearance (I rushed out the house as soon as I can - taking a uber in the middle night and had been crying nonstop for hours), she made assumptions about the kind of person that I was. She rudely asked that I send my puppy to an animal shelter if I could not afford to take care of her. Amazing. Anyways, I asked that she leave and my sister, who had woke up, sent me some funds. I ended up just paying for the testing and $17 prescribed medicine which totaled around $450. The prescription did not last for the full dosage period. Thank you for demonstrating why it is so imperative that America improve the quality, costs, and accessibility of healthcare.

Last Thursday (1/14/2021) I brought my 16-yr cat, Duchess, into the facility for treatment. As Dr. Adams investigated, there were few options to save my cat. Dr. Adams told it straight. She was compassionate, yet I needed to a voice of reason to rise above the emotion swirling throughout my mind and body as I listened to the phone. She outlined the risk/reward and ultimately held my hand for me to make the right choice and let her go peacefully.COVID is a challenge across the board for businesses and for what we can and cannot partake in. MAESCs policy allowed me to enter in a controlled manner and spend the last moments with her in a private room. As long as I wanted. Dr. Adams and her staff were very professional and I am blessed that they helped ease the pain of my loss and help me make decisions up to and after her passing.Lastly, they followed-up a few days later with a sympathy card. It was unexpected, but the long, heartfelt notes were appreciated. They knew me from nothing (just another person off the street), but their empathy was tremendous and the words said exactly how I felt.I will definitely use MAESC when I get another pet in time.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.Respectfully,Greg

Don’t bring your pet here if you are looking for compassionate care. Irrespective of the remarkably high cost, Samantha Hsu, the practice manager at this establishment, is a horrific person with a total lack of compassion and competence. She angrily told my partner who after having witnessing her puppy collapse that she should turn her over to a shelter because she needed some time to figure out the payment. They lost my cats collar!!!! (and my cat carrier)I brought my sweet girl in for difficulty breathing. She was seen by a technologist right away, and I was brought to a separate room. I was sad I couldnt go in with her, but I guess thats how it goes. Before each intervention they calculated the price and discussed with me if I wanted to do it and how much it would cost. It made me wonder if treatment was being delayed while we discussed treatment, but I dont think it was delayed too long.Unfortunately I had to put my baby down that night. Dr Adams was very kind and explored all my options with me. They brought her in to my room and gave me a doorbell so I could ring in the doctor when I was ready for her to go to sleep. After the doctor left and my baby was gone they let me hold her for as long as I wanted-- all I had to do was ring the doorbell again. They gave me options with what I wanted to do with her body, including taking the body home with me, having a private cremation and taking the ashes, and a mass cremation where the ashes would be scattered in an apple orchard (who knows if thats true, but its a nice thought).I had to pay upfront before I left, which made me feel a little awkward-- I had mascara trails all down my cheeks, and it made me wonder how I looked to the rest of the waiting room. I remember thinking I should pick up my cats collar and carrier, but I was distraught and left without it.I called three hours later that night and they couldnt find it. I called the next day and they couldnt find it. I called a week later and they couldnt find it. Someone on the phone told me my cat was probably cremated with her collar on, which is a silly and unbelievable lie. If they took the collar off to do treatment (which they did, she was brought to me collarless), would they really put it back on her dead body? What happened to my cat carrier?Everything was a lovely albeit sad experience until the moment when they lost the last piece I had of my baby.A week later I picked up the ashes and they came in a pretty wooden box with her name engraved on a metal plate on the front. Im grateful to Doctor Adams for being honest with me and helping me decide what to do with my girl, but Im extremely disappointed that they lost the collar.

I brought him in with labored breathing - he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in the summer and at 14 and already a bit compromised I knew we were on borrowed time. I was hoping this was just an URI but suspected congestive heart failure. They tried their best to help him but what I feared was true - it was already too late. I stayed with him a bit and went home to rest planning to come back. I got a call that he was in cardiac arrest. My buddy was passing over the rainbow bridge. I went back and stayed with him for several hours not wanting to say goodbye. My sweet baby has moved on to another assignment. 4.5 stars. They saved my dog! Lulu required emergency surgery for an obstruction in her intestines. Dr. Worth was very calm and understanding with me when I was distraught -- she explained everything very clearly and reassured me that surgery was really our only recourse and that she had a lot of experience with this particular kind of surgery. Being a long time dog owner, Ive had good and bad experiences with surgical procedures - and one particularly awful experience when my dogs incision became infected and he had to be subjected to a week of round-the-clock care with hydrotherapy at the vet - so I was very very concerned about the possibility of infection. Dr. Worth did an incredible job (at around 3 AM, too!) - she was very careful about stitching the incision -- her work was so precise and clean. Lulu has completely healed - and her abdominal scar is barely visible. This really was the best experience -- you can rest assured that your beloved pet will be in good hands. I did feel the need to subtract 1/2 a star for the reception staff -- its hard to know who you will get - some are very kind and compassionate and others were very gruff, impatient, and, at times, condescending -- but maybe someone was having a hard day. I do want to emphasize that if Dr. Worth is the attending vet, you can be confident that your pet will be cared for. You will pay a premium for the care -- emergency medical care is always expensive -- I dont know how they handle cases in which one is unable to pay at time of service, so I cant speak to that experience.

When I called to ask if they could do a payment plan, they said that payment is due at the time of service. I asked what I should do in this situation, and they said get a credit card from my bank in the morning. When I asked them what I should do since his condition was getting worse the woman told me TO CALL ANIMAL CONTROL AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT! I asked as in putting my dog down?! And she said Like I said, they will take care of it. The fact they were objectifying my dog and not treating it like it was my furbaby, my family member, my only pride and joy and rather an object that merely should be put down absolutely angers me. I would never recommend this place to anyone! And be weary, their prices are much higher than other places in the area. This is not an emergency room. The doctor wasnt there for over two hours after we arrived. The point of an emergency room is that if your pet gets deathly ill or swallows something or any other kind of emergency happens there is a vet standing by to help you immediately when you come in. We did not get that treatment. Our dog was stuck stressing out on the cold floor of the exam room having no idea what was going on for 2 hours. We were told that there was no doctor in the entire building. When the doctor finally arrived, two hours late for her shift, she kept rambling about how our dog needed an X-ray. Our dog clearly didnt have a broken bone yet she continued to say he needed an X-ray. Upon refusal, she tried to push multiple other uneeded tests for the situation. When we finally left we were presented with an estimate of $500 with BS charges. We refused these charges and ended up with a bill of about $100 for the basic exam. To end off, the doctor seemed to have little to no experience working with pets. She was INCOMPETENT and nervously shaking. My final point is that if you look at other reviews in the last year, they describe similar happenings, including a 4 hour wait and the death of a cat because of the hospital. The receptionist was the only highlight of our *interesting* adventure.

Sadly, our 12-year old Newfoundland dog had a stroke on New Years Eve. We spoke several times with Shinequa who could not have been more kind and helpful, reiterating repeatedly that they were ready to provide whatever help we needed. The dog, in the end, passed peacefully on her own, so that we ultimately only needed help in disposing of the remains. But I really appreciated the kindness, sensitivity, and willingness to provide assistance, even on a holiday.

The staff was nice and friendly, but it is VERY pricey. If it is not an emergency definitely wait and take your pet to a primary vet. I took my cat there for an accident with her tail, didnt have another choice because it was late at night and an emergency, cost me close to $1000.00.

DO NOT GO!!!It is the worst experience. My cat got injured so I took her to this place. Without even checking her, the doctor said that they need to put her to sleep and x-ray. They charge me $110 for doing nothing at all. Then I took my cat to the vet. My vet checked her injury and took care her by giving her some medicine. My cat gets much better now. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! They dont help and not willing to help my cat.

The people at Metropolitan were so helpful and considerate when our puppy got a bone stuck around her mouth and jaw. Daniela was especially amazing; she made our dog, Lily, feel much more at ease even while she was examining her, taking her vitals, and eventually taking it off. We got in immediately and were out of there within 10 minutes. Thank you to MEAC for helping our poor pup!

I decided to come here after seeing all the other positive reviews and was not disappointed. I wasnt exactly able to fix the issue that I initially came in with due to some financial barriers, but the staff still did everything in their power to help me in the best way that they could by referring me to a place that could. Anyone who walks in here will notice that the staff at this location genuinely loves what they do, and thats something you cant really put on any sort of review scale. They treat the pets they come across like a member of their family, and as a pet owner, thats really all you can ask from places like this. It was very heart warming to see such a professional, yet super caring staff. This isnt really the cheapest place in town, but I guess you get what you pay for huh? Haha. Quality staff! Special shout out to Amy and the receptionist for their spectacular service!

We came with our dog on a Sunday. While most of the staff was awesome, some are just trying to move on to the next patient.Wait times can be tough, but it is done on a triage basis, so YMMV.Expensive. Lets face it, theyre the only game in town on Sunday so you dont have much of a choice. Its $110 for an exam. If it can wait, wait. If not, youll be in good hands.

Horrible. I do not recommend it!! Sooooo expensive!!!My kitten arrived sick at the hospital and the doctor said that she want to take care of her during the night. We left her at 9 pm and picked it up at 9:30 am. They charged us $1300 and they only gave me a paper saying that they had given her medicine for the diarrhea, the vomit and that they had taken some exams. They never told me if was contagious (I have another kitten) they never told me what it was. Go to another place, we made the mistake of going to this one !!!

I am completely impressed with the professionalism and caring of the entire staff at MEAC. I thought my dog was just a little ill when we walked in, but he was actually dying. They acted quickly to determine what was wrong and then communicated with me in a way to help me process what was happening. They were able to keep Guinness comfortable while I rushed to get my son out of school so we could be there with him. They gave us privacy and space to visit with him before we let him go. It is a terrible thing to go through but they really managed it so well. I want to thank Samantha at the front desk, Sara the doctor and the 2 techs whose names I did not get.

The most horrible place to take your pet. My dog was obviously sick, vet said from what he could see there was nothing wrong with him. Charged me $110 to examine my pet. That was not a problem, but when I was told that did not include examining the ears that would be at an extra cost. $370 for blood work. Said my pet needed x rays (no bones were broken) and just kept rattling off cost. I left the place after 5 minutes at $110, such a waste of money as I will have to take my pet to a more qualified vet who is not in it for the money. Dont waste your time or money going.

Our kitten broke her leg just before thanksgiving and we took her to this clinic. They took her to the back and just kept her there. The nurse came to tell us that she had indeed broken her leg and then informed us that she needs to undergo surgery. We had to ask for our cat back! We spoke to the doctor, who seemed to be consulting with the surgeon who was off site. So the wait was long. Then the nurse came up with an estimate of $5000 for the kitten’s surgery and stood there as is we needed to make the decision right away!! She insisted that the surgeon was the best...dah dah dah..and that he had performed this surgery on both her cats. Yeah right! You paid $10,000 for your cats’ surgery! I so believe you!I wasn’t sure if the kitten did need surgery in the first place she was less than 1 year old. So I said I wanted to take a second opinion. The kitten would be fine with painkiller for just another day. It this lady just looked at us frustrated, “what do you think is going to happen? It’s not going to heal itself!” Jeeezz! Way to calm a worried pet owner! They really do push their own agenda when you’re all worked up over your pet.We went to Helping Hands vet VA and got the surgery done for $1000.Take a second opinion!

I took my dog to the emergency clinic on Sunday morning because his stitches from an earlier surgery had split. The doctor stapled the area and sent us on our way. When less than 8 hours (despite being locked up in a 5 x7 room) 6 of the 7 staples had released and I need to bring the pet back. After waiting over an hour to be seen they tried to charge us $500 to repair the bothced staples. I refused and had it taken care of the next morning at my vet for no charge. When I called to complain, the manager offered to credit back the $27.05 for the staples, but wanted to be paid for the rest of the work. Her staff had agreed that we should seek a credit last night but today they would not admit it to their manager. Go somewhere that cares about doing a good job and not just charging for a job no matter how well they did it.

The entire staff was so kind and caring during a difficult time with our beloved elderly cat Noelle. Sadly, we came to the conclusion that it was time to end her suffering and pain. Dr. Emily Rogell took time to explain the situation and was patient with us as we dealt with the decision. We were able to stay with Noelle as she passed away peacefully with Dr. Rogell reassuring us and talking us through the procedure. After we left, I saw that she had taken the time to write a lovely note expressing her sympathy for our loss, which meant so much. You could not ask for a more nurturing environment while dealing with ill pets.

After 3 hours they called us into the room and then we proceeded to wait another 30 minutes. Still no sign of the vet. So I had to leave. My cat was in pain and could not walk, eat or drink and all around wasnt acting like her normal self. Im not really sure why she wasnt a priority and they let her sit in pain that long. Im disgusted and wont be coming back. Definitely wouldnt recommend going here if you have a real emergency.

This is difficult to review. 4 weeks ago brought my 18 year old dog Punky here, on the advice of our regular vet, who was out of town for the holiday. Punky required euthanasia. The costs, as three of us understood when presented to us, were going to be $250 for cremation, with the cremains returned in a wooden box. It was the only option. Seemed extremely expensive, but it had to be done. One friend with me couldnt be in the room for the procedure. He went to the desk to settle the financial end. My other friend and I were with Punky until the end. Very professionally handled and with love and caring. When we came out, after spending a few more minutes in the room alone. My other friend was enraged with the clerk at the desk. The charges were in reality over $450. Those were not ever discussed. There were 3 of us in the room. Yes, we were emotional, but one of us would have heard something other than the $250. In the end, Punkys cremains have been received by me in the wooden box as promised. Always ask what the final, total bill with all conceivable charges will be. They have to be settled, and the animal has to be discharged from its pain, but our pain is being capitalized upon to some degree here. That is my belief.

My cat traumatically died during an exam due to extreme stress from restraints. For background, I am a 4th year MD candidate going into Emergency Medicine. I brought my beloved 14yo cat here because she was becoming tachypneic. Just 2 days ago, she was active. She was still alert, walking, and meowing when we came in. I was told on the phone that initial eval was $110. I was not told that this didn’t include any work-up, which is useless as anyone can do vitals and look at gums. But my hands were tied, I needed a vet.The vet came in and callously recommended euthanasia. I immediately started crying while my parents, who don’t speak English well, didn’t understand since my cat was fine just 2 days earlier. The vet remained emotionless in insisting that my cat was dying. I was frustrated by the inconsiderate delivery. But I wasn’t about to do nothing to help my baby, who was still alert, meowing, and rubbing her face against my hands. This is my first pet who I have had for more than half of my life. She has been with me through all of MS, HS, college, and medical school. She saved me during my most difficult emotional times. There was no question, however outrageous these prices were. We thought at least we could try to get her comfortably back home to pass away after treatment, so I agreed to $850 of work-up (literally just labs, XR, US) and $4k of inpatient care. I questioned the US, as I knew that my cat would likely not tolerate it. But the vet didn’t budge. The tech reached for my cat. She meowed nervously at me. I warned the staff repeatedly that she was anxious at the vet and would need extra comfort. No one offered me any reassurance or solutions. The tech harshly scolded my elderly cat and roughly lifted her up by her weak scruff before whisking her away from me. I did not think this would be the LAST time I ever saw her alive. We were left listening to my cat go from anxious meowing to mournful crying, which hurt me deeply. There was no compassion. They would restrain her to the point of deep stress just for labs. Minutes later, the vet came to tell me that my cat had CODED during her US because she did not tolerate the vet pushing on her chest with the probe – and that is verbatim. She asked if I wanted CPR, which of course, I said yes. She then came out to tell me, “We can’t get your cat to come back, she remains in asystole. Do you still want compressions?” At this point, my confused parents ask questions. The vet rapidly shut them down to say “Right now you need to answer me, not ask questions. Your cat is dead.”My father keeled over in tears. He ran out of the room saying “I wasn’t expecting this today.” The vet again demanded, “Your cat is dead. Decide now what you want to do.” My mother, confused, said I should decide because I was in med school, to which the vet said “Ok, so you understand, compressions or not?” I might understand, but you just presented me with the sudden traumatic death of my 14yo best friend induced by the stress of your exam and are now asking me to give up. There was no sympathy, no apology, no kindness. At the end, we were given my dead cat in a box and a $500 bill which included the US that killed her. No results, no answers. My cat was killed here. She was not healthy in her old age but she had so much more of a chance for palliative care than this. She didn’t have to die because of a stressful exam. Her heart was in good shape, as even the vet pointed out. Acute extreme stress will induce cardiac arrest in both humans and animals, especially a sick one. Anybody practicing vet care should have this judgment. They should have stopped and asked how I wanted to proceed when she wouldn’t calm down. This was heartless abuse. I will forever carry this guilt with me for bringing her to die in a place that would disrespect her like this. I am shocked that this insensitive place charged me for the exam that brutally killed her. To my beloved cat, I am so sorry. I will forever regret not bringing her to a better vet. Do not bring your pet here.

Let me preface the following with the fact that I dont know the names of any of the staff members who were there that Saturday morning and helped my sister, Odin and I through this bloody situation; sorry.Odin got a big chunk of his ear bitten off early in the morning at the dog park. I went to the vet closest to my home, which opens at 8:00 am (about a 15 min wait) Only to be advised to take Odin to M.E.A.C., which Im glad I did. When I arrived Odin splattered his blood everywhere. It was all over the floor and the front desk. The vet tech quickly came out and took Odin back. I was scared to let her take him because I didnt how he would react but he seemed really happy to be with her. He did lick her hand and wagged his tale a bit, so I dont think he realized his ear had been bit off. Then the lady at the front desk came out from behind and kindly directed my sister and I to the bathroom to wash my blood covered hands and afterwards to wait in the waiting room. I asked for paper towels to clean up the mess all over the floor and desk but she said she will take care of it and not to worry. Super sweet. The vet came out quite quickly. He asked us a bunch of questions about Odin, like is he allergic to something and other questions I dont remember. Then he explained to us what he was going to do to Odin, asked us if we had any questions and then he went on his way to do his job. Which he did very well. The vet tech lady brought Odin out and she was very sweet in handling him. The front desk lady gave us our bill and discharge letter. The price was fair, or as fair as a vets bill can be (I think they should create a better health care system for pets but that is a whole other dilemma; or I could just be super cheap). Anyways, The emergency exam fee is $95, which is not too bad considering the vets in the area where I live charge about $100 for a non-emergency exam. I Know, Dam Ive been getting ripped off. Also everything on the bill reflected everything he said he would do. No Surprise charge/procedure. So overall I loved everyone here, everyone did their job, they were kind and attentive. Hence the excellent review. Will definitely be coming back here if I have anymore unfortunate emergencies.
