My Uncle was in here for a month (during Covid)of rehab after a fall. During the month I repeatedly called to get updates as we were not allowed to visit. I think they called me back 2 times! When he was released half of his clothes were missing. Do not recommend this place.😑

The communication at this facility is severely lacking, which is why I would not send my father here again. He was at this facility for a total of 2 weeks. 1) During that time, I asked 5-6 times to nurses, the social worker, and even the β€œdirector” that the doctor that has seen him call me to discuss his care. Never received a call in his entire time there. 2) I spoke to the social worker on a Wednesday, and scheduled his discharge for the following Monday at 830AM. Friday when his physical therapist called to provide me with an update, she was completely unaware he was scheduled for discharge. Same for the front desk when I got there at 820AM Monday. The social worker did apologize for this breakdown in communication. 3) My dad was somehow deemed β€œfit” for medical decision making, etc. and given a third pneumovax of which he already received both. Asked to speak to whoever made this call for my dad, never heard from anyone. 4) When I picked him up Monday, I asked that the β€œdirector” Tabitha call me so I could discuss these issues. It is now over a week later and I have not received a call. As a previous manager for MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute, I am appalled by the lack of caring/disregard in calling family members back. 5) Furthermore, the discharge paperwork we received did not have ANY documentation from a resident/fellow/attending. No proof he was even seen by an MD, or an assessment was made for him while there. The home he lives in stated this is required and they need a copy in case THEY are ever audited. I sent an email to the social worker asking for this Monday afternoon, and had to call her Friday to get something - which is not even SIGNED by a doctor. So I now am still waiting for the document to be signed by a provider. 6) Over a week after my father was discharged, I called the physical therapist assigned to providing PT at home since I had not heard from. No surprise, she said she hasnt even received a referral from the social worker. So she has now also been holding up my father getting the therapy he needs at home. Needless to say, I would not recommend this facility, especially during COVID if you are concerned and not able to visit your loved one. Good luck getting a timely (if at all) response from any staff members there.

You forced to wear a round masks while you cant breath is really uncomfortable thing to wear and no option and the ones who force that they dont contact with patients, residents nurses so they dont wear those ones. Its not fair and taking away people freedom of choice. We are living in a trying time you need your job but you have to get hurt through masks because you need to make your living. You need a comfortable mask and a shield or a goggle. We need to protect our residents and ourselves but not in that manner there should be consideration.

This is the worst place i have ever worked. They don’t take care of the patients. They sleep on the clock. Many people have died here who shouldn’t have. No team work, management sucks. I would never ever come here again nor would i recommend anyone placing their loved ones here.

My elderly aunts dementia progressed to the point where there was no safe alternative but to place her where she could have 24 hour supervision. Im truly thanful the Potomac Valley accepter her despite her significantly limited resources. While she was often a delight in the early months, there were many times when she was not an easy patient, especially when she believed she owned the place. The staff were significantly better prepared to deal with her than was the staff at Brookgrove, where my mother-in-law resided. The care level was higher and the interactions were more frequent and significant. My aunt particularly enjoyed the music and dancing with staff would often encourage her to join them when she was physically able to do so.Its always hard to watch the progression of disease and dementia is a prticularly cruel progression but the care she received at Potomac Valley was much better than what I could have possibly provided and was far greater than what I saw my mother-in-law receive. I remain grateful to them.

I’ve had my grandma in this facility for a little over a year now. She has Alzheimer’s and needs around the clock care. The staff here have been great with her and with communicating updates big and small with me. I appreciate the care she has received here so far and do recommend checking it out if you need these services for a loved one.

My grandmother died here in 2015 during what was supposed to be a ONE WEEK rehabilitation stay. The place called my mother one morning and coldly told her that my grandmother was dead and that she had 10 minutes to get her removed because they needed the space. There was NO explanation of why she died, nor any compassion for my mother, who did not even have time to process what was happening. They seemed most concerned about getting my grandmother out of their building so they could make more money on the next unfortunate patient. My mom, who was in total shock, told the funeral home to rush over to Potomac Valley (still with no idea how her mother had died). When she arrived, the nursing home staff treated her in a similarly cold way in person. Im disgusted by how the two women I love most in this world were treated by these people. Please do not ever consider sending a loved one to this horrific nightmare of a wellness center. Please shut this place down before more healthy people die. I cant believe it still exists.

If there is a choice for 0 star, i will put it on but unfortunately, i can not enter no star because the system wont allow me to write. this place is horrible, its not good for the dimentia pp, the doctor have the wrong evaluation special the psychology; therefore, they kick my brother out without any reason...the case manager was horrible, they dont care about the patients there, all they care is get money from the insurance or else will kick you out... every time i call, they are at the meeting but never return my call, they also give you the wrong information.... i hate this place...

This is not the place to have a loved one who is suffering from dementia. They are not at all concerned about treating the patients with dignity and respect . They warehouse patients not care for them . Was glad to transfer my brother out of this facility. They just go through the motions to collect medicare payments.
