Loved the experience. The staff is very accommodating. We had a party of 4 and the bed and couch were both very comfortable. The area was stocked with everything we needed! My only suggestion is: Where the Glamping style tents are they should consider a small shower/bathroom area.

The team is very accommodating here. They have a can do attitude and they have mad customer service skills. I would like to steal them to work for me. Only one caution. You cannot drive down to your campsite they will shuttle you. So its a walk back up to the car if you forget something. Unlike the boys Rachel has mad turnaround skills with the van.

Explore Park has so much to offer! They have hiking, walking paths, tubing and a ropes course. We have done Treetop Quest (their ropes and zip lining course) twice and have loved it. The staff is patient and really helpful. The course is fun but doable for kids and adults alike. It has a series of obstacles and then one course is full ziplining. This is affordable fun for the whole family!

My husband and I went up for his birthday last night and stayed in one of the couples cabins. It was so fun! The cabin was so adorable inside! It had an electric fireplace, a small dining table with a wrap around padded bench, AC, a ceiling fan, a pull out futon that you could use as a couch or bed, and a nice and clean refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. The bathhouse was directly across from us but even at the farthest cabin or yurt it’s less than a 30 second walk. The bathrooms and showers are up to date, clean, and there is surprisingly good water pressure for a camp bathhouse. The water was also very warm! The parking spots are right by your cabin and it appeared that each one had two spots. There were two different cabin styles as well as the yurts. The yurt next to us was empty and we had a peak in the window. We will definitely opt for the yurt next time although there is absolutely nothing wrong with the cabins! There is also a little cabin store in the very first cabin! I do wish the cabins were a little further apart but nothing terrible! There’s also so much to do! This place is good for one romantic night or two weeks!

My spouse, and I took the children to see the lights we all had fun, took a lot of pictures. The light displays were super cool. My favorite was the Santa Sled with the Christmas tree in the background. Pricing wasn’t bad at all, I would suggest ordering the tickets ahead of time. Such a neat experience!!

My family and I love the Explore Park. Not only is it in a beautiful location, but there are plenty of things to do (zip lining, tubing, camping, hiking, cabins and yurts). The park is always clean, maintained by friendly staff, and the visitors center is FULL of unique shopping finds. If I want to buy something locally made, I always stop there first. It is a nice family oriented area, to go for a walk or a picnic or stay a weekend away. Holidays are especially exciting! We love going each year for the festivities!

We really enjoy the Explore Park. We visited several times this year to visit Treetop Quest....which the kids love.We went tubing/kayaking labor day weekend and enjoyed it! The rapids were super friendly so our friends who had never done so felt comfortable. This past weekend, we went camping at C2 and it was awesome, carefree....if youre looking for a glamping experience with a canvas tent, queen sized bed and all the things we didnt have to bring...easy in and out. We rolled up the sides of the tent and had a nice cool breeze all night.I just want to say one person in particular was awesome! Willie was great. He brought us down on the ATV with our stuff and took us back up when we checked out. He brought down all the firewood, etc. He checked in with us each day. He was super friendly and accomodating!

Love Explore Park! We always bring out-of-town visitors here. The visitors center is awesome, great trails, and of course the treetop obstacle and zip-line course is a favorite for the kids. Always check the roads first - sometimes the parkway is closed and you have to go an alternate route to get up there. Definitely worth it though.

Chanced upon this place by doing a quick search for camping near Roanoke.  When I realized you cant drive to the individual campsite, I was a little perplexed about how that would work.  So glad I gave it a shot.  This is an awesome campground in a really cool spot.  For three nights I slept in a hammock along the river and was very happy to not have any cars nearby.  Get there during business hours and one of the awesome staff members will give you and your gear a lift to your campsite. The crew working here were all very helpful in hauling gear, bringing firewood and ice, and giving recommendations for local things to do. I will definitely return!

Good and some bad. The bad first: if staying in primitive sites, really expect primitive. Bathhouse is not within walking distance. No electricity and no water. Also train sounds like it is going thru campsite. Is the good. Staff is super helpful. The tubing is fun. Would recommend this place for that and for camping in the “cabins”.

Park area was nice, the brew pub is a great addition too. However, the lady at the desk of the Blue Ridge Parkway visitor center was less than cordial, and pretty standoffish despite supposedly being there to help. Also, volunteers should know when opening times and dates are for places within the parkway. She sent us 26 miles to another visitor center since she would not help with junior ranger. This location was still closed, and opened a few days later. That was completely unacceptable.

Stopped by on the way home from Roanoke to take our dog for a walk. The facilities were not open (winter? Covid? not sure why) but we didnt need them. There were a handful of other cars there for using the trails. We didnt realize there are such nice entertainment facilities there and will return when they are open. The trails are very maintained and lovely, and was no crowd at all very peaceful as well. The views on the drive also were lovely. There was a brew pub there so we will absolutely be returning for a hike and a beer once it is open and warmer, plenty of picnic tables and great setting.

Totally had a misunderstanding when we came here. We thought there would be so much to do to stay busy. But in this case. If you like bike trails and walking trails this is for you. That’s all there is to do.Kinda wished we waited until more activities come to this park. In my opinion this place isn’t for small kids. Since there is nothing to do what so ever.Being an adventure park you would think there would be sooo much to do. Like horseback riding, bungee jumping, rock climbing something. If you like being one with nature this is for you. Plus add a zip line or twoZip lining was awesome I’m not gonna lie. I’m scared of heights so I wanted to face it. The staff were very friendly and very informative. They will guide you through the process

We thoroughly enjoyed camping on a primitive camp site by the river. The staff is EXCELLENT! They worked so hard to make sure everything was smooth with our stay. They used a gator to haul our things to the campsite and were kind enough to let the kids ride. The site was level, clean, and hazards were marked. The paths and trails we walked were great. We loved the little beach like area on the river by the trail that provided a fun place to explore and play. We were a group of 2 moms and 7 kids, ages 1-10 and it was a perfect and safe place to enjoy a night under the stars. I highly recommend!

My partner and I travelled from Norfolk to go camping here on a Thursday. And let me just say, as a first time camper, my experience was amazing. We camped at R12 by the riverfront which gave us direct access to fishing in the morning and at night. Thursday night happened to be perfect because there were only three other families camping out besides us so it was very quiet. Once we arrived, Keaton helped us shuttle our things to our campsite and he was really kind. Holly also helped us get some firewood after hours from the Camp Store which was super helpful. Overall, I loved this place. It was clean and the grounds were well-kept, and not to mention how kind everyone was from the moment we got there. I will definitely be going back to try out the Treetop Quest.
