The opening ceremony was an experience I shall never forget. Watching the men and then the woman doing their different dance and songs was entertaining. After the dancing, I volunteered and killed a goat for our dinner that night. It was empowering, and once I had killed this magnificent animal, the Maasai tribe that was delivering this opening ceremony christened me, in English it means Lion Woman.______The people are pure in their love towards each other and towards the volunteers. We become a family with the African staff. When we returned from our three-day Safari trip at the end of the two weeks the African staff that stayed behind gave us all hugs and welcomed us home.____This two-week experience has changed my life. I have had other opportunities of my life in traveling and serving others and helping them to progress towards measurable goals. Those experiences were beautiful and in a sense sacred to me, but this adventure takes the cake. I have never been more heartbroken to leave a place that I could call home so quickly. The Marafiki Africa staff from the States and in Tanzania were equipped and prepared to help us produce this life changer. If you are looking for a short internship/service/humanitarian opportunity where you can help an individual make a small and simple step that will bring great things for the peoples future look no further.

I loved my trip with Marafiki. I full heartedly support this program and believe it has the potential for incredible change in Tanzania. Empowering small business is the key to helping any developing economy and the entire program of Marafiki Africa is centered around doing just that. The staff both the American and African members are amazing. So kind and welcoming. This program offered me countless life changing eye opening experiences. Working with the business owners so closely and being able to see their growth and development as they implement the principles taught is a memory I will cherish forever. An amazing organization to go with to experience Africa and its culture while serving others and learning life lessons

This was the most amazing experience Ive ever had. There is nothing like this program anywhere. From a completely immersive experience camping in a small farming village, taking public transportation, to interacting with African staff, I can truly say I feel like I know what Tanzania is like. We were able to help a lot of people in unique ways and empower them through knowledge, resources, and medical assistance. We were able to see African wildlife on safari and experience a bit of tourism as well. The program provides opportunities to truly connect with people and its inspiring and life changing. I would give anything to go back again and would reccomend it to anyone! Seriously the absolute best decision Ive ever made was to go with marafiki Africa!

I cant recommend this program enough! Marafiki Africa is a very authentic, African experience that allows you to do more than just vacation -- you get to roll up your sleeves and help improve lives. I participated in the business consulting program and loved the business owners we worked with. As I stated about being authentic, you get to stay in a Tribal village area rather than a hotel, you ride around in the same vehicles that locals do instead of expensive tourist cars, and you interact constantly with the villagers. Although I went to help others with business, I really was the one most benefitted and cant express enough how much I appreciated learning firsthand about the people and culture. I would recommend this over any vacation, it was a truly life-changing experience.

I had an absolutely amazing experience through this program. I have always dreamed of going to Africa and serving the people there, and through Marafiki Africa I was able to do that and more. I learned so much about the culture of the local Maasai tribe because we lived with them in their village, which is an experience you dont get anywhere else. You get to do many fulfilling service projects, and the people love you for all you do. And you finish it off with an amazing safari adventure. I would highly recommend this program to anyone that wants adventure and to make a difference in the lives of people in another country.

This was a once in a lifetime experience and I would not have gone with any other organization. Marafiki Africa is made up of a stellar team that cares deeply for the people of Africa and strives to make the experience a memorable one for the volunteers. Volunteers get the ultimate African experience being able to live in a Maasai village and interact with the locals. I went with the business consulting program and truly feel we were able to help local business owners better provide for their families. I am a nurse and was originally worried about going on a business consulting trip because I was worried I wouldnt have much input. I learned that my basic business knowledge was very helpful to the business owners and I had nothing to worry about! I went expecting to teach the people, but left feeling they had taught me so much more! I learned valuable life lessons that I will carry with me my whole life. I would highly recommend Marafiki Africa!
