Darren is a knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and respectful therapist that has helped address struggles that have plagued me for years. He is different than other therapist in the fact that he will tell you what you need to hear, even if its not what you want to hear, in order to help you accomplish your goals and help you improve. His office is easy to get ahold of, responds quickly, and always strives to work with you whenever possible. The kind lady that answers his phones always tries her best to work with your schedule and is quick to resolve issues if they ever arise. It is obvious that those at Oquirrh Mountain Counseling & Services truly care and always strive to do their best to help you. I highly recommend seeing Darren if you are in need of a therapist. He is truly one of the best out there.

D DAUTEL is very unprofessional and DOES NOT seem to be concerned for the people he treats or their families concerns or questions. He does not return phone calls, voicemails or emails. It is a shame and a travesty that he is still allowed to practice.RESPONSE FROM CLIENT:Darren Dautel’s response below further demonstrates his lack of professionalism. I tried for 6 months to speak to him and it finally took me writing a negative online review to garner any response. He finally scheduled a meeting with me on 08/24/21 where we spoke for about an hour discussing my daughter’s care to-date and we planned to schedule a family therapy session between the three of us. I thought for the most part it was a productive conversation. However, the very next morning, less than 12 hours after that phone call I received an email from D Dautel stating he was dropping my daughter as a patient effective immediately! He gave no reasonable notice, no reasonable excuse, and he refused to provide a referral to another clinician! He stated the reason he was abandoning my daughter was due to receiving the bad online review! WHAT! So without regard for my teenage daughter’s vulnerable and fragile state he dropped her as a patient because he cared more about his online reputation.So to recap multiple attempts as a concerned parent to contact D Dautel from my personal line, business line, text messages, my attorney, and my daughters attorney resulted in no response from him until in desperation I wrote a negative review, and then he proceeded to drop my daughter as a patient the very next morning! In my opinion, this lack of professionalism and disregard for patient welfare is shameful.I have no doubt that Mr. Dautel will respond with another attempt to save face. He will again try to redistribute blame with falsities instead of just admitting the wrong.

Toward the end of last year I was going through a very hard time in my personal life and decided to seek out a counselor to help me through. This was my first time seeking any sort of therapy so I was nervous, apprehensive and did not know what to expect. This turned out to be the best decision Ive ever made.Darren helped me through my situational anxiety with compassion, respect, a great deal of knowledge and a healthy dose of humor which I really appreciated. He made me feel completely at ease and gave me the tools I needed to effectively cope with my situation.I have absolutely no reservation in recommending Darren. He is an amazing counselor and a wonderful person. If the need arises, I will be back to see him in a heartbeat. Thanks Darren!

I have been seeing Darren for years. He is a very skilled therapist and has been absolutely incredible to work with. He has helped me learn how to deal and cope with many of my issues with kindness, compassion, knowlege, and respect. He has helped me have a better quality of life. Exceptional care for complex trauma, abuse, and dissociation. Darren has helped me with processing trauma through EMDR and psychodynamic therapy. We have worked on grounding techniques, staying present, and letting go of the shame that so often lingers in the abused.I appreciate Darrens observation skills, his compassion, and his excellent questions. I often find myself thinking across several days about something he has asked me, and through that pondering arriving at a wider perspective. This is important to me, because what I have been through has caused me to narrow my field of vision and dissociate in order to cope. With Darrens help, I am gaining a healthier perspective.When I was looking for a therapist, I wanted someone seasoned and knowledgable. Darren fit the bill.Im not easily impressed, and with me trust is hard won. Darren is an excellent therapist. He has demonstrated the following in my sessions kindness , compassion, knowledge, intuitiveness, patience, attentiveness, skill and non nonjudgmental of my issues. Recommend him strongly!!!!

He’s great with teens and children. One day after my session, I saw him walk outside and kneel in front of an upset child, so he could look him in the eye while they talked. He shows this same kindness and patience during my own my sessions.

Darren Dautel is one of the best therapist I have ever had. He has hours that meet my schedule. When I am in a difficult place he will call me and has often met me when he was off. I have been suicidal and he calls and works with me to get me to a safe place. Kind compassionate and would recommend him to anyone that wants to work on their issues

Ive been trying to pay them for over 6m on behalf of my husband, since its my insurance. Every time I call it goes to VM. Ive left 7 messages to get a call back to pay.On top of that, they keep charging 21% interest for late payments, but then wont let you pay it.I would have given him a few good stars as a therapist, but after this pain in the butt and then trying to screw their patients, I say dont waste your time. Theyll just try to get more money by not letting you pay and charging you 21% interest.BEWARE!----addendum 5/5/19I received a call back this Sunday morning from their office to finally make a payment claiming theyd received my calls but were calling about this review. After hours of harassment by their office and Darren himself and receiving multiple threats to sue me if I did not delete my review (taking up half of my morning and into the afternoon) , they required an email saying I promised to not give any more type or review if they were to process my payment, saying I was to give no verbal and social media reviews. They also left my husband a voicemail saying they were sending a letter that he was no longer welcome as a patient, which is no problem to us.I finallt got sick of being harassed and politely requested to just pay the 21% interest late fee they said we owed and I will keep my right to my free speech. Its sad that someone in this position of power is thretening a 5 foot tall woman. This is not right.They have my info and my approval for payment, even for their scam fee theyd like to have. We will see if they take my payment or continue to charge me late .I highly suggest you go ELSEWHERE!

DONT GO HERE. Darren Dautel is a horrible therapist. In fact, hes probably the worst therapist Ive ever had. I had to report him for abandonment because he dropped me without helping me find another therapist, without any warning, and without a reasonable explanation. He didnt even do it himself. He had his secretary do it. I was in the middle of a crisis and was extremely fragile at the time and it definitely did me psychological harm. Darren clearly doesnt care about inflicting psychological damage or he wouldve handled the situation differently. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

My only regret is that I didn’t start therapy earlier. I was, unfortunately, initially quite reluctant to go. Now I am of the opinion that most people would benefit from learning through a therapeutic alliance.Therapy isn’t exactly easy, but the atmosphere at OMCS is relaxed and personal. This helps one make one’s way through.As far as payment goes, I’ve found OMCS policies and practices to be consistent with other healthcare providers. Payment of either the co-pay or full amount is due when services are rendered. Here, they take payment at the end of a session; at other places I’ve been, they require the payment before seeing the health practitioner. And once, on the far end of the spectrum, when I had to have an emergency procedure at an oral surgeon’s office, they required the full amount be pre-paid before they would even examine me to see if they could do the procedure. That was an interesting experience. At OMSC, I’ve forgotten my wallet once or twice, and they were kind enough to let me pay for both visits on my subsequent visit.I know that not every patient/client matches every therapist. I know that sometimes people cycle through many therapists before they find the right fit. I was fortunate that Darren was the first therapist I visited with and also a good fit for me. I respect Darren’s expertise and his range (from talking to helping me through difficult material to play/sand therapy).
