Super careless with their patients. Switched to Dr. Downey as he is closer to my place at 13 weeks of pregnancy. Went in to get checked up for UTI due to frequent and urgent needs of urination symptoms. I was 17 weeks at that time. The urine report took 10 days to come, and they didnt take any action at all (neither before or after the report came). They kept telling me that it is baby sitting on the bladder, even though I tried to tell them that this feels something different. Luckily, I went back to my old doctor , and she right away diagnosed the bacteria in urine and put me on antibiotics. I could have ended up in the hospital, had I waited for Dr. Downey and his NP!!

I love Dr.Downey he is the BEST!! If I could give him 100 stars I would. He delivered both of my sons and made me feel really comfortable. He always answered all my questions and always gave me great advice. First time around I had a C-section but second time around I tried for a VBAC and it was successful! He encouraged me to push that baby right out and I did it!! He is very patient and knows what’s best for you. His nurse Jennifer is the BEST! She’s so patient and so professional. Anytime I called she would return my call right away and a lot of offices don’t do that. She always answered my questions and concerns. They really care about their patients and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an OBGYN. Thank y’all for being the best and I will definitely be back if I decide to have a 3rd child :)

Terrible doctor. The staff was nice and accommodating, but Dr. Downey is terrible. I went in because of severe pelvic pain. I am having a hard time functioning. He had two tests done, didn’t even look at the images, and told me there’s nothing wrong. In his words, “sometimes they do exploratory surgery and find nothing but it makes the patient feel better.” Like I’m making this up. I’m terrified of needles and tests, and I’m begging for them because my pain is so bad. When I asked questions about more tests or other things it could be, he shrugged me off, and told me I should go to pain management. I said I didn’t want to treat the symptoms. I wanted to fix the problem. Again shrugged me off. I’m going to a REAL doctor now who is looking into other causes of my pain. You know, someone who listens to their patient and doesn’t just ship them off to get pills when they don’t want to bother with helping them.

Dr. Downey is amazing!!! Hes direct but he answered every question I had until I was comfortable. He doesnt take forever like most doctors. I was in and out every visit. Office staff is professional and pleasant. Everytime I was in the hospital he showed up several times to check on me during my pregnancy. My baby came early and he was there every step of the way. I appreciate his honesty and warm demeanor. Just overall great. I definitely recommend Dr. Downey. Took me a long time to find him but he is totally worth it

Dr. Downey delivered both of our children and I highly recommend him. We also absolutely loved his NP Daphne and nurse Jennifer. He sat down with us at the first appointment of our first pregnancy and got to know us a little, and I felt that he kept the conversation of what we wanted going throughout my care. We had a miscarriage between our two births and Daphne and Dr Downey were incredibly caring and helpful. I dont think I would have processed it as well as I had without their help. This is the only OBGYN office where I have felt completely cared for and have never had a bad experience.

Dr Downey is the best doctor if you or your loved one wants to go for VBAC. The experience I went through for my VBAC was a dream come true. Dr Downey was so supportive of my decision and encouraged me through out my pregnancy. My C-section experience with a different doctor was a nightmare and I was so hesitant to have anymore kid. Now I am a proud mama of two, All thanks to Dr. Downey. And also a big shout out to all the amazing nurses at Methodist Richardson hospital who took care of me to bring my precious baby boy to this world 😘💕.

I had a great experience Dr. Downey delivered my 1st baby, Crystal, Veronica and the rest of the staff were really nice they would always do their best to set appointments that were more convenient for me, Dr. Downeys assistant is the BEST, Mrs. Jennifer was always there for me when I had concerns during and after pregnancy, she would call me back and answer all my concerns. I cant forget about Mrs. Daphne, always nice and she is the person I would come see if Dr. Downey had no open appointments to see me if I had a concern that couldnt wait for my next appointment with Dr. Downey.

No true words to describe my tremendous heartfelt experience with Dr. Downey and Daphne especially at their old location with Mickey and the rest of his old staff!!!! After having a rough pregnancy the first round, Dr. Downey made all the right moves to keep my pregnancy alive until term! I will forever be grateful for the choices he made to keep not only myself healthy but my pregnancy going, back in 2010! Since delivering my daughter January 2011, I have followed and spent numerous amount of dollars to be sure that all my OB/GYN visits and concerns went through him and Daphne only! Following my husband around in the military since 2008 doesnt always promise us to be in Texas! But I was not going to let anyone else deliver any pregnancies after my first one! Today I am now a proud mother of three beautiful children, I will never be able to show my gratitude to Dr. Downey nor Daphne for their tremendous work and knowledge they have for this field of work and their amazing personality!!!! For them and give them five stars! For his front office staff I give them two stars! The old staff was very personable, bright and bubbly! This staff in the new office doesnt have a welcome feeling. For his back office staff I give them five stars! The phlebotomist and calendared was very bubbly and personable! As well as his medical assistant Jennifer, she is great, no words to describe her kind attitude and prompt service!

I was put on a medication that did not work with my body. I called and told Dr. Downeys MA that I was incredibly depressed and was crying 8+ hours a day and was told to continue taking the medication. She stated there is no way this medication can be causing these thoughts. Funny how they started the day after I started the medication.Thank god I reached out to another doctor who told me to stop the medication ASAP and the next day I felt much better. I will never go back to this doctor! Apparently care is not a top priority at this practice.

I used to LOVE this office. Daphne and Dr. Downey are nice however most of your interaction is with the office staff who are not helpful or knowledgeable in any way. Before I always had resolutions the same day I called. Ever since this office grew and has a bigger staff I have never felt so neglected in my life. Being billed for charges missed by office staff from 2013?! And when needing my birth control ordered and appointment scheduled to have put in, after telling them its expired, I then do not receive any call from them for 2 weeks and when Im able to have time off to get this done I cannot get anyone to answer me on if it was ordered, how much it costs and if I could be fit in. Im now going back to my old provider who got me in on short notice due to lack of response or care to try and keep me as a client.Update 3/17/16:Dr. Downey & Daphne got the office staff to rush order my birth control and got me in that week. I love Dr. Downey & Daphne but I am uncertain that I will stick with the practice due to office staff actions.

I have been extremely happy with Daphne and Dr. Downey. However, I have left his practice because of his rude and condescending office manager. She has no idea how my insurance works. And regardless of whether or not their policy states that the Dr fees must be paid in full by 32 weeks, they neglect to tell you that you cant pay it all at 32 weeks, you must pay monthly payments prior. She refused to work with me and let me use my FSA to pay in January AT 32 WEEKS! Even though I have fully met my deductible for 2016. I will never recommend someone to this office simply because of HER. She is distasteful, judgmental, and rude. I feel bad for the practicing Drs as she has ruined the experience for quite a few of his patients it seems.

I cant say enough good about Dr. Downey. My first sons birth was an emergency C-section after a late diagnosis of Pre-E with HELLPS. I was completely traumatized and anti-doctor. Dr. Downey listened and respected me even on the days I didnt necessarily deserve it. I needed statistics and reason. My second son was born healthy via a VBAC just as I had hoped. Thank you! :)

I decided to switch from my beloved OB to Dr. Downey because he is very well known for allowing women to try for a vbac. Im so happy I did! I have now had two vbacs with him as my doctor. He goes above and beyond for his patients. For my first he came in in the middle of the night when he wasnt even on call. Highly recommend. I also really liked his nurse Jennifer. She is great and listened to concerns the relayed them to Dr. Downey before he came in the room. Super nice and caring. For the office staff- just ignore them. They arent your doctor. Sure they can be rude but this past round I didnt have an issue. With the office manager I talked with her about a payment plan and showed her Id meet my deductible before 32 weeks and she listened to me and worked out a deal. Also richardson Methodist has come a long way from when it first opened. They get a 2 star 3 years ago from me and are now a 5 star in my eyes this year. Proud of the changes they have made. Apparently someone was listening!

Doctor Downey is probably the last good OBGYN left on this planet. So thankful for his medical advice supporting me in wanting to attempt a vaginal delivery after 2 csections. He has great bedside manner and very attentive. I was able to have my VBA2C even though he was off that weekend and I fell in the hands of Dr Brooks who is the worst doctor ever and kept lying about how dilated I was and constantly scaring me about uterine rupture just so she will operate. But as God will have it, In 15mins I went from being 5cm (like she said) to baby’s head crowning.I wouldn’t have been as confident and full of resources if it wasn’t for Dr Downey. His office staff are very warm and pleasant to talk to.

I was deeply disappointed with this place and I never even met the doctors. I found out I was pregnant at around 5 weeks and they would not let me be seen for an appointment or ultrasound before 8 weeks. This would have been fine except that I experienced an ectopic pregnancy at 7 weeks and had severe internal bleeding that required immediate surgery. If I had been allowed to come in sooner, this condition could have been diagnosed through bloodwork and an ultrasound BEFORE the tube ruptured and I could have avoided a life threatening situation. Do your research. If a OB wont let you be seen as soon as you know youre pregnant, go elsewhere.

This office will not allow you to bring your children if they are older than 18months. What an inconvenience of getting a babysitter to go to your OB appointments. Most appointments were rushed, test results never explained or given in a timely manner. Also, if you want to call to ask your OB something such as Im pregnant and Im bleeding - the receptionist will not allow you to speak to the Dr. Instead, shes very rude and chooses to givemedical advice over the phone. She is not a medical professional and should not be giving medical advice to patients. She doesnt allow you to leave the doctor or nurse a message to call back either! Ive expressed this concern to Dr Downey and the NP working with him and they both did not see a problem with that! Do not see this doctor if you want professional OBGYN care!

My experience with Dr. Downey was not the greatest. He comes highly recommended for VBAC deliveries. Every time I saw him for an appt he asked me questions and fumbled over important details that should have been clearly listed in my chart. I felt like a number in the system and like I was not truly listened to. Also, his office staff, ESPECIALLY the office manager are SO RUDE. I have never dealt with more rude staff in a medical office. I left their practice and would not recommend them to anyone.

When my regular OBGYN threw me some red flags regarding my planned VBAC, I scheduled a consult with Downey. He was AMAZING and was very thorough about statistics, risks and benefits. For accepting a new patient at 29 weeks pregnant, he and his staff were very kind and friendly.I had a successful VBAC on1/16/15. If you want a doctor that practices with respect for womens health and uses evidence-based methods, try Downey.Bear in mind that he is so popular because of his success rate and his openness of VBACs, so his office can be very busy. But he is worth the wait to see him.

Dr Downey is an incredible OB who practices evidence based care. Which means he wont schedule you for a c/s for his own convenience. He is a well known VBAC supporter. Daphne and his staff have always been polite to me, but the only reason I went to him specifically if because I knew that he would give me a chance at a third VBAC after two home VBACs, when I developed preeclampsia during my fourth pregnancy. He looked at all the evidence and *my* personal history and didnt try to push me into anything without just cause and evidence to back it up. He respects women and birth and works on our timeline, not his own. He ended up staying late the night before his vacation to attend my third VBAC, which is much more than I can say about my first OB, who sectioned me the night before spring break then left me with a strange OB to go to the beach. LOVE Dr. Downey.

I cant believe the negative reviews! Hes an awesome doctor and the only one who saw me and supported me to have a VBA2C. He is one of the vey few doctors who practices evidence based care. He is down to earth and very to the point when it comes to facts. He did not promise me a vbac but he said we would try, because truly, when we have a child we enter the unknown. He didnt treat me like my old OB, he didnt schedule all these weekly sonograms (that cost tons of $$), I had a BPP after 32 weeks due to my diabetes. He didnt jump into a c section because of my blood sugar, he didnt scare me, he supported me and guided me all the way. I was 41+3 when I delivered and I was induced via cooks foley balloon, 24hrs later I welcomed a 9.14oz baby vaginally. Not once did he mention a c section, not once was he inpatient and needing to go because I was taking too long. It took me 7hrs to get from 8-10cm. He was present, chilled, supportive and I didnt feel like a procedure, I didnt feel like cattle or just another patient. I think he believed in me more than myself. His practice has become more popular due to the lack of Obs who dont support women in attempting a vbac, so I guess its busier, but when I was going Id get the last appt at 3:30 and I was seen right away. The staff was decent, I mean what do u expect from front office dealing with hormonal women? But I was always treated with courtesy and respect. His nurse, Jennifer, was always nice and kind, and made me fee SUPER comfortable even at cervical checks. I recommend this doctor to everyone to have every chance at a vaginal delivery as possible.
