I am extremely upset from all the bad reviews this doctor gets and is still somehow practicing, it upsets me even more to know this is the type of medical service that majority of these people have received (via reviews).Due to this being the only one available to Sacramento, you cant just treat people however you want. Please do better for yourselves and those who support you.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mitch Akman for over 20 yrs. I find him a very knowledgeable endocrine specialist . He is very caring and explains everything you need to know about your condition in detail. He has a great bedside manner too! His staff is very patient friendly especially, Naomi! Love this doctor’s office! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Save time and go elsewhere, believe the bad reviews. The front is horrible, theyre rude and the Doctor is a joke. I generally dont leave reviews but the experience my daughter had today was unbelievably ridiculous. Hes so paranoid of Covid he turned my daughter away with 98.8 temp and a intermittent tickle cough caused by extremely swollen lymphnodes on both sides of her neck and hyperthyroid issues, which ER Drs days earlier said it was imperative she be seen due to cancer fears...but sure, after already being put off for over 2 months, he tells her she needs to reschedule. The symptoms of hyperthyroidism are swollen glands and intermittent cough....the doctor needs to quit medicine, hes worthless to anyone who actually needs medical care, hes so paranoid of a virus that has high survivability rate, while ignoring obvious symptoms of what is supposed to be his specialty.

He has an Extremely Rude Medical Assistant. She feels has the right to come between patient and Doctor. When asked to get information on Labs which were done at the request of the Doctor, she assumed that all she had to do was send them to me. It started with a message left on their answering machine which requested info on the labs which the office that they should had for over a month with no response. When the office called me back she told me they were sending the labs to me. She seemed hostile when I asked if the Doctor had looked at them or if he is sending notes with them. She said she didnt know. Asked if there was any note on them she said she was only to send them to me. Asked if the doctor would look at them before she sent them to be, I was told only if I set up an appointment. However I would not be allowed an in office appointment as they were only allowed for new patients and not existing patients. Direction comes from the top. Doctor makes sure he has a slew of new patients so when the existing patients leave for lack of care he has new replacements. Hashimotos needs proper monitoring, my thyroid is dying, but when I received the office report copies I could see he had not even requested the right tests!

Only had one visit so far but I do like Dr. Akman. He seems to want to help and offer his patients the best care available. I do wish he would have taken control and had staff help me get appointments he recommended and followed up with me as promised. I would see him again without reservations.

Saw Dr.Akman in August for thyroid issue, driving 3 hours to see him. He was not concerned about my other health issues and as to why I was on 10mg of Predisone daily. I have extreme allergies to most everything. Prednisone I take for asthma and urticarial vasculitis. I am allergic to all foods but lamb, potatoes and sun butter. Have extreme reaction to corn. After I took my Tsh test, he prescribed Levoxyl. I told his nurse it had to be compounded. Rx was faxed to my compounding pharmacy but without compounding to be done. Pharmacy called the office, talked his nurse and Dr. Akman himself. He refused to have it compounded ! There are 5 ingredients that are corn related in Levoxyl. I would have gone into anaphylactic shock and died if I had followed his orders. Needless to say, I refused a follow up appointment in 12 weeks. Has no respect for any NP or PA. Told me twice to get a real doctor!

I only made it as far as the receptionist and experienced the RUDEST person in my life! Jennifer was demeaning, disrespectful, and a liar! I dont care that Dr. Akman is the only specialist in Redding, I am willing to drive 2.5 hours to Sacramento to see someone else. Especially after reading the other reviews of Dr. Akman and how I can expect the same experience from him! I dont want to find out. No other Drs should refer their patients to him, ever!
