Mojo is the man! He has extensive knowledge and can help you find what you are looking for based on budget and plan. He is realistic and practical. Driving home I thought to myself I’d actually pay for the experience I had. I can’t say enough good things and the gear that was recommended for me was perfect. I will be returning to this store solely because of the customer service that I received which seems to be more and more rare. Phil was also awesome and showed me different areas to check out on a map. Neither workers pressured me. Clean & organized. Youre staff was very helpful which gives me confidence REI will fulfill my outdoor supplies & needs.

We came to this store after researching the stores that have the model of dog harness in the specific size we are looking for on REI website. When we got there, there was nothing similar in stock. What’s worse, the store employee was rude and told us that dogs are not allowed in there. The dogs were only there so they could get the correct size fitted. This is possibly the worst REI experience I’ve had.

Would give 10 stars if I could. Staff were great. They helped me get everything on a pack list for a wilderness trip. I would’ve been lost without them.

I was in the store yesterday to return a merchandise that the store sent in error, and though the associates in the counter were nice, the manager was very rude and unprofessional. Not going back there.

Just went in for some hiking gear for a trip to Iceland… Mojo was the first to ask if we needed help, and he exceeded our expectation! Mojo taught us little tricks about the REI brand and got us completely prepared with gear for this trip. Ask for Mojo when you’re at the REI in Reading for anything hiking related!

I want to love this place but every time I go in, Im disappointed. Theres lots of things available, but never the item Im looking for. And the service...yesterday I went in hoping to find a pair of sandals. Walked into the shoe area and saw a few people milling around. You have to ask someone for the size you want and the one person working there was helping another customer. So I wandered around a bit and glanced over to see her with a pile of shoe boxes, doing something. I thought shed come over to me but she didnt even look up. So I headed over to ask her for help. Meanwhile, someone else walked into the shoe area and the worker looked up, greeted the new person, and immediately began speaking to her, completely ignoring me, less than 5 feet away. I left in disgust.

Good selection of high quality outdoor clothing and equipment...but be ready to pay full retail. Nothing is on sale.

I went to REI for the first time since the 90s to buy a pair of nice hiking boots... its still the same great place... very helpful staff and an unmatched selection. They even have a one year return policy if the boots dont work... even if you have hiked in them.

Why is REI charging MA sales tax for non-taxable items? The manager states because the SKU determines if it is taxable or not per the state. That is not true. REI applies taxable or non-taxable classification to the SKU, not the state. When I showed the manager the actual MA sales tax guidelines that they for whatever reason dont use, the manager stated that she couldnt do anything about it anyway. Item returned. Poor business practices. Some very nice but misinformed staff that all repeat made up tax classification. One rude and uninspired manager that would rather ignore an issue then fix it. See the attached pictures to see what the manager says is neither a shoe or a sneaker.

Ive been a member for years, and they always impress. Great selection, friendly staff, and the place never feels overcrowded. It feels more like a gear review with a friend then a traditional shopping experience. It would be nice if they stopped asking if Im a member in every section, but thats a minimal issue.

Gene in the roof rack bike area couldnt have been more helpful as I had to trade out my rack system as I had a new car with a new rack on it. He gave me choices and comparisons so I was able to make an informed decision .

Staff were so helpful I was looking for climbing shoes. Everything was clean and properly distanced for COVID. Prices are high but the selection is also quite large.

I went to REI because I know they take the covid-19 protocals very seriously. And I needed to get out of the house. Thursday evening was not crowded as expected. People were cleaning all the displays as I walked through the stores. And they continue to take protocols seriously. Though finding nothing of significance in the garage sale I did find an item or two on clearance after the holidays. Check out was very fast and the staff for very well informed and very pleasant as always.

I have been a member a very long time. As for todays trip . . . great. They are dealing with addressing COVD 19 issues very well, better than anywhere else Ive been lately.

I am blown away by level of service and attention provided by staff in this store. I have been to this store twice and I am in love with it. Staff over here is so knowledgeable and helpful that you just cant match it to any department store. I bought running and hiking shoes from here, with guidance provided by Ian, who was just fantastic. He made me aware of my arch type and helped me find right shoe for each category of run. Good luck with finding that level of service in DSW.

Wow, to buy something from the clearance rack you have to become a member and pay an additional $20. Ive never experienced such a hassle just to buy something at this place.

REI in Reading is amazing. I came in for a duffle bag and 3 different store associates asked if I was okay, could they help me, Etc. I walked away with a good duffle bag, sturdy, outdoor dog toys that can survive a pointer mix and a yellow lab, and a high visibility vest. Its a bit on the pricy side, but the fact that their staff is so on top of it makes it worth it. Even in these tumultuous times, it genuinely was a fun store to be in and shop at.

Great to buy from a store that has staff who actually use the equipment they sell and can provide real options based on personal experience.

Easy returns, good customer service, and prices are comparable to online sources on outdoor equipment. I buy from REI whenever possible, because as a member I get dividends back on all purchases, and I can easily return gear which has failed or just doesnt work for me without hassle.

I have always loved this REI but had to post how well they are operating in this new climate covid-19. They have sanitizer everywhere, clearly marked Lanes to walk, everyone had their masks on and made for a very safe and pleasant shopping experience.

Went in to get a Yakima roof carrier for my suv and had awesome help and guidance from employee Adam. He was super helpful and patient with my questions and his knowledge was what I needed to help make a smart buy, he also showed me how to attach and detach the Yakima roof carrier with ease. A perfect place for all your outdoor needs: hiking, biking, rock climbing, trail running, backpacking; REIs the place. The prices are standard pricing, but their quality is second to none. During their sales is when I make out. I purchased an Osprey 85 Liter Backpack for $330 about a little over a month ago & REI recently started their July 4th Sale. That same backpack just went on sale for $247.49, so when I checked out today for a few other things, the cashier who rung me refunded me the difference, so Im getting back over $86 for that purchase, simply awesome. All the staff there are very helpful and courteous & I really appreciate that!!!

Every time I’ve gone to this REI, the staff has been extremely helpful and have gone out of their way with recommendations and going to the back to find what I’m looking for. Definitely a good amount of parking though it can be tough as it is next to a popular gym. This REI is my go to!

Really great store. There is a lot of space so it is easy to walk through. There is a ton of quality gear. I got a hiking pack that was on clearance and got an amazing deal. The staff was super friendly and in each section I went to there was someone there if I needed help. The store was very clean too. Overall great experience.

REI has a wide selection of items for all your outdoor needs. The products also have a big price variety but most of it is worth the tag. The service here is great, if you are looking for backpacks I highly recommend finding Paul, a very helpful backpack employee. It does take a long time to shop here through, it is a little bit disorganized and there are so many choices that it takes hours to choose. Be prepared to spend more time than scheduled when you make a trip but be assured that you are getting the best possible products.

Excellent place. Ian helped me with a purchase of a bike. I was able to see him really trying to help meet my needs with out pushing me to spend more. He wanted me to be sure of my decision giving a test ride, bringing a bike that was in a difficult place and so on.

As a member of the co-op Im all in on REI for the customer service and satisfaction guarante. Since Covid-19 the in store experience is a little more of a process than normal so be sure to plan accordingly.

Ive been an REI member for over 45 years. My father set me up as a member when I was 8 if I remember correctly. Ive used them for close to all my outdoor recreation needs ever since. I highly recommend REI to anyone interested in biking, hiking, paddling or just having fun outside!

Awesome. Took my bike for a tuneup and adjustment. Quoted 1 price for potential work and was okay with it. The tech called and said it didn’t need all of that, explained what was needed and if I wanted something else done before the cost was added. Ended being less expensive and bike feels great. You really don’t see this sort of service in your normal retail stores. As busy as it gets they try to take care of everyone as personally as possible.

Saturday morning I went in looking for rain gear for that nights Pats game. I was not the only one. The entire outdoor department was filled with Pats fans. Ruben was THE MAN. He talked to every customer. Helped every one of us find water proof gear for the game. He explained the difference between outdoor and waterproof jackets. I told him this was probably a one time thing and didnt want/need to spend a ton. He found the pants and jacket I needed for FAR less than what I thought Id spend. I have never shopped here before. But Ruben has sold me. I even became a member today. I just wanted to thank you for having such a friendly/helpful/knowledgeable employee.

Great place to shop for outdoor camping, hiking, and sport gear. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Theyre a little pushy with trying to get you to sign up for a co-op. The co-op is actually a fairly good deal though. Prices are competitive, clothing is top of the line.

Dropped by to pick up some hiking boots. Service was great. Very quick to acknowledge me as a customer. Answered my questions, offered a few suggestions, tried on several pairs and walked out with my new hikers. He did not try to talk me into a pair but repeatedly said let your feet tell you. Listen to them. Great experience nearly every time.
